I've been in search for an N64 for some time and I checked the usual suspects. OfferUp, EBay, etc. I've seen this store a few times but never made the trek to get there. The store is great! The dudes in there are nice and the selection is fantastic! If you're looking for an N64 there is a massive stack at the front door for $85 a pop. They come with original cables or aftermarket (your choice) and an aftermarket hyperkin controller as well. If you are to get an OG controller they have a bin for you to dig through and pick your own. (Most of them have some floppy joysticks so dig well and good) The consoles themselves can be tested and cleaned on purchase along with any other OG controller. Is the store the cleanest in the world? Eh. But who cares the selection is great along with the prices they offer. Sure you can probably find things cheaper here and there BUT the testing and guarantee that the game is there is the real attraction. Nostalgia is a price to pay. read more

This is a must-visit location if you're a legit video game person. The collection here is vast and in excellent condition. The owner provided us with the sensation of pure nostalgia as we stumbled into a collection of retro games, consoles, and accessories. It is a sight to behold; games neatly organized from wall to wall with their original artwork on display. Come visit this store and allow it to continue thriving. read more

Gamehogs - Video Game Stores Near Me - Los Angeles, California

Called to ask if they did disk resurfacing guy on the phone said yes. Drove out to the store got there at 6:45 pm and the guy then tells me the machine isn't working properly. One would think they employee would mention that on the phone. Not a good first experience. Waste of a drive. read more

Sells games way over retail (use pricecharting to understand what games are worth about), they also spam post online about their games. A horrible example of what a game store should be. read more

Has a huge selection of games but if the only the prices were better. Take a look and you might get lucky but if the employee has to call the owner then be surprised at the ridiculous high number that they come up with. Also the place needs to be cleaned. read more

Pretty cool shop, a bit of a hidden gem that I ended up discovering through offerup. There is a huge selection of games and frankly as a retro collector the variety is great. The staff who helped me, who I assume to be the owner was very friendly and definitely knows his stuff. He gets games in often so it's easy to go into the store and find a game you need, even if a particular game you're looking for is missing he'll likely be able to get it back in stock if you ask. The only reason I knocked off a star is because some games (not all) were a little pricey. For instance, take pkmn ruby sapphire I've been looking for, had both but a bit more than I'd be willing to pay for them. Regardless, though I never asked the owner I'm sure a shop like this would be open to making a deal with you. Despite the prices you get the benefit of purchasing a genuine copy of a game from someone who knows what they have which is nice given the plethora of fakes out there. Overall this is definitely a hidden gem, one of the best video game shops I've been to and I've been to A LOT in all of LA, definitely recommend checking it out. read more

Great collection of games. Was able to buy an authentic Emerald.

I love Gamehogs. My nephew loves it even more! He is 6 years old and is obsessed with retro games. We've been making regular trips out to Gamehogs every Friday to pick up games for GameCube, WIi, DS Lite, 3DS - we even picked up a New 3DS XL handheld. George, Adam and everyone else there are really helpful and make our experience so great. My nephew would stay there for hours if he could playing games and looking at old consoles. This place is a gem! Thanks for creating such a cool vibe and offering such a unique store! Long live Gamehogs! If you are looking for retro games - skip eBay, skip Amazon, get that game in your hands today!! read more

Over price not nice at all they just want you to buy something and get out i don't recommend this place

Owner is rude and a jerk, and most everything is overpriced near 50% of what it should really cost. If your giving your business to this store.. I have to ask the question have you never heard of the internet or do you not have a credit card to use online? read more

Take your business anywhere but here, and Gamestop. Saw OfferUp post for Zelda on N64 person said they had it. Went in after work and magically they didn't have the game I wanted, but another at a higher price or another one for the same price listed online, but the label torn. Classic bait and switch. Games are way over priced. Look around. You'll get better deals and let this place die out. read more

Gamehogs is a great shop to get any of your used retro(even modern console) games. The owner is very nice and will let you try out any game or console selling to make sure it's working properly. Almost all the used games are in great condition and decently priced. I usually go in to get PS2,PS3 and PS4 games. The main bulk of his inventory is retro games. Super Nintendo, N64, PSX, Sega Genesis, NES, Sega Dreamcast, Sega Saturn, Sega 32X, Wii, Wii U, Switch, Xbox, 360, XBOX One and I'm sure he has some Sega CD and some Turbo Graphx stuff in there somewhere too. This place reminds me of a cool version of GameStop if it was owned by a chill dude rather than by a big company. The game owner is a gamer, which is why he has so many good titles and can offer some good advice when purchasing. He has also played all the titles I have I happen to buy, and makes me feel good about the picks I make. I love going in this shop and I've never left empty handed. I only wish I had more money and more consoles so I could spend more time and money there. Maybe one of these days I will do one of his console Packages for the Dreamcast or Saturn. read more

Great hidden gem for video games. Their selection is huge from classics to current games. They also have classic and modern consoles. The customer service is great and friendly. However, just know that it can get a bit pricey. Otherwise, highly recommended and one of my top 3 video game stores in Southern California. read more

I visited this store during the afternoon at around 5:00pm. To my surprise, the store has gone through a drastic change. The last time I visited the store, ( which was 3-4 years ago) they were only selling comic books and action figures. However, as someone who loves retro video games, I was really excited to see this change in the store. They have a large variety of video games, and video game consoles. e.g. SNES, NES, SEGA GENESIS, N64, GAMEBOY, etc... if you are looking to purchase any retro video games for your consoles then this is the place to go! - during my visit, I purchased two gameboy advance games. One, being Donkey Kong Country 3. The other, being Banjo - Kazooie Grunty's Revenge. - I also noticed that in the back of the store, they still have a good collection of action figures for sell. So, if you also collect classic action figures, then I would suggest you go check them out. In conclusion, this is an awesome store with a great collection of classic video games and figures. If you're a collector of games and figures, then you are certainly going to love this place. read more

WORST PLACE EVER!!!! Wayyyyyy to over priced for Everything in there. And they low ball you like it's a joke. Games are expensive even old ones. I promise you games cheaper on offer up than here. Ps1 Xbox and ps2 games for $30-40!!! Cmon, I understand it's business but it's pushing it to where people just come and look and not buy. read more

Went in the other day bought a Nintendo 64 for myself and was talked into to getting an original controller for extra saying it was better and what not. Bought said controller but guy working that day switched my controllers? Gave me a broken one that didn't work and had to get in contact for an exchange. Was told I'd get a cheaper controller and no store credit for it but luckily LEO was in and set me straight with a new original controller that worked WAY better than previous. JUST BE CAREFUL WITH ALL PURCHASES FROM HERE AND IF SOMETHING DOESNT SEEM RIGHT ASK ASK ASK! Iffy on returning. Ask on offer up and what not before going into game hogs for games, you'll find better prices or A&j games in culver :)) read more

LOVED this place! George was super friendly and showed us around his store even told us his story and gave us a fair price on some comics. I will definitely be coming back here and doing some video game trades and buys. He has any video game you could think of and also has a selection of toys comics and gaming systems. Could spend hours in here just looking through games/comics! read more

The store has a great selection of games. The only problem is that the prices are astronomical. I'm talking through the stratosphere and beyond. if you're looking for a rare game that you can't find it anywhere this is the store for you just remember to bring a truckload of cash. read more

Really cool casual store. This store is a starting Retro Gaming Shop with some very young owners and workers so they are still gaining experience. Me I am a casual gamer so it was really cool to see all classic N64 games. They had like 5 N64 Gold Zelda Game. They have a lot of stuff here really made wish I was rich to buy most of this stuff. As for their online I have not used it, it is better to see the store for yourself and see the game you want to buy because there are many others that will catch your eye. Parking is street. Careful because it is a main road, best times to go are Saturday and Sunday ample parking and smooth traffic. read more

I'm a long time game collector and this is my new favorite shop!! It's a bit out of the way for me but totally worth the drive. They have an incredible selection on par with Game Dude and the prices are almost always the cheapest. Usual heavy hitters like Earthbound and Chrono Cross are as expensive as always, but for just about everything else the prices even beat most eBay auctions. The owner is super friendly and knowledgeable and had many things I couldn't find at ANY of the other 5 or so stores I usually hit up. Yes, it looks unorganized but that's part of the charm! You'll find everything you need and discover a lot of awesome gems. Couldn't recommend any higher. read more

Perhaps an OK store in person, however, DO NOT CONDUCT ONLINE TRANSACTIONS WITH THIS COMPANY. I have been buying and selling online since 1998 and this is by far my worst online "purchase". I say purchase in quotes because I didn't actually buy anything but lies apparently. Claimed to ship product on 07-20-17, 08-01-17, and 08-09-17. I contact them again on 08-21-17 with a rightfully deserved verbal tirade.. and get this.. They messaged me a photo of my item not yet even packaged, and had the nerve to ask for my shipping address again! Completely disgraceful. They will blatantly lie to you. Oh and to add insult to injury, they had the nerve to tell me what a deal I was getting because the item I bought was currently selling in some places for double of what I paid. I fail to see how me giving someone money and getting nothing in return is a great deal from my side. I just wanted my games. Why run an actual brick and mortar store and offer to sell online if you can't even honor your word? As of 08-24, they have yet to contact me with a tracking number they promised. I have completely written off my money and considered it gone for good. If you are considering an online transaction with this store, over Instagram or Paypal or Facebook or whatever else means they use to reach customers, don't do it. Unless you can walk into their store in Los Angeles in person and have a face to face transaction, do not trust them. It's that simple. read more

You walk in here and automatically get that nostalgic feeling. I saw the the sega, ps1, N64, Super Nintendo and it took me back to the 90's when I used to spend hours playing with my siblings. The owner is really knowledgeable about everything from the gameboys to the consoles and offers a ridiculous amount of options and prices for all shoppers. He was really helpful and helped me find what I was looking for. Only thing I didn't like was that this place reeks of weed. Lol all in all a nice place to get something to help you relive the glory days. read more

I originally found this place via Offer Up, but after exploring the store, I have mixed feelings. First off the staff is really nice and are very knowledgeable. The store set up is easy to look at everything & games are organized and clean. This place has a really big collection of rare titles, most of which are in great shape! They also have a huge selection consoles and accessories as well. For the most part, their prices roughly match those of other stores, including online (eBay) and may vary for a few bucks more, so nothing special there. As for the more harder to find game titles, especially those of NES or SNES, some of the pricing can match other retailers, while others are overpriced ($20-$40 more). Also they do not go down in price if the original label is messed up which is lame. As for trading/selling, please note they have almost every title, some with multiple copies. So don't expect to get much or if they'll even accept a trade since they will most likely have the item and will tell you this as part of their conversation. If you really want a better trade or price, then I recommend heading a little ways out to Burbank for there are 2 shops there that offer better deals. As for those mentioning GameStop, I highly recommend you try other retailers or even online, for GameStop always has and always will give dirt low prices for anything. Overall, if you have the money and don't care about prices, then I recommend this place. If you're collector or seller that likes looking for a deal, then this is not the place for you. read more

DO NOT COME HERE LOOKING TO BUY GAMES AT A RESONABLE PRICE! He sells Games for 2x what they normally sell for making GameStop look like the better business to spend your money at. The fact he is comfortable with disrespecting his customers and calling them broke shows how much he truly cares about his customer's. It honestly makes me sick that we have someone like this in the video game community that takes advantage of new collectors and disrespects other collectors who are more knowledgeable on the products they want. Hopefully they change the way they handle business because there is nothing wrong with charging more for hard to find games that are in good quality but they are crossing the line by charging double sometimes triple what it goes for and idk about everyone else but I've seen where he buys his games and let's just say he is making a 40-50% profit a majority of the time. read more

We appreciated the service today. We ended up purchasing some controllers and games. Thank you!

Lots of stock but pricing seemed way off. Like Brave Fencer Musashi was priced at $100. On eBay a copy typically goes for $60. Everything else was either the top eBay price or more. Would love to support local business, but what's the point if I'm paying top dollar anyway? I'll check back sometime, maybe their pricing will get more reasonable. read more

This game store is really a hidden gem from the massive selection that most stores would only dream to have. The owner is really nice, friendly, and very knowledgeable about gaming in general. Its nice when owners are gamers too since they aren't just looking irritated or bored and this guy isn't since he loves what he does. Anyone talking about Ebay or pricing, you guys casually leave out you do not need to wait for shipping and also Ebay has many repros for N64 games and fakes in general whether its games or controllers etc. This guy has all real products and I can spot a repro and he didnt have even one. Bought an expansion pack for my N64 and works really well. Will be a regular here. Thanks Gamehogs you rock... read more

The shop is packed with games, systems and toys. It's a little paradise for game nerds, collectors and people who respect the art of video gaming. The prices could be expensive, but what do you expect? Video games are collectibles now. I appreciate that he prices them according to their condition. Jorge the owner, has alot of heavy hitters. Rare boxes games, $100 games, and even boxes and cases on their own. So if you need to complete that Final Fantasy III for the snes, the man might have it. I showed up right before closing, traded in some games and he gave me some good credit. Didn't have time to pick a game so I went home and brought more trade in value. I got $90 in store credit and Jorge hooked me up with near mint conditioned games of Crono Cross & Xeno gears. He HIGHLY recommended Xeno gears. Really gave me the details on the game, he knows his stuff and is passionate for his products. He will let you know what's good, what's alright and what's GREAT. I'll be coming back to acquire the games I've been wanting. Thanks Jorge, peace to you, your family and your business. read more
