So as I'm checking out this other guy told me bulk is off limits until it's been price checked, and then told me my total of 58-60 cards was almost 30 bucks. I did the math, he charged me 50 cents per card and just counted the total up, talk about price gauging. Mind you, they had boxes of bulk stacked on top of each other, so who knows what's been checked or not either, watch me get a scolding for trying to master set some things. There's other card shops that actually do free bulk, I'm definitely gonna stick to them. EDIT: So after reading the other reviews left behind, I can definitely say they do lowball for whatever you bring in. I overheard this one couple bring in some cards that sounded rather high in value based on how the responses were for what they would offer and they were gonna give them a low offer, which I think they declined on some of the cards so good for them.

If you still read printed media or would like second hand books, this may be the place to go to. The only other Book Off I've been to that is inside a mall is I believe the Del Amo Fashion Mall. This one is a bit more organized at the very least. The biggest W, I've ever gotten were rare, affordable visual novel series items from the one in Riverside, but for the anime section for here, it's not the best. There are some rare goods, like a Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun figure, but the prices are a bit atrocious. For example, an FGO Abigail Williams prize figure that goes for around $30, NO SHIPPING COST, went for $80. It's not even that rare or old of a figure, it just came out around a year ago. This is also my issue with the Anime Lab one in Little Tokyo. As well, as the anime section itself not being the most organized, aka the miscellaneous section and things on the shelves. Can never be my GOAT, Eco Town. Maybe there are gems there, but you definitely need to research prices, know what you want and how rare an item is, etc. The workers were busy helping customers and doing exchanges, so I didn't really get a chance to interact with them.

Of course, I understand that each store's inventory varies. Unfortunately, my interactions with the staff significantly diminished the overall experience. During my visit, one employee repeatedly insisted that I take a shopping basket after I had already made it clear that I did not need one. She then entered my personal space, coming uncomfortably close to my face and behind my head while repeating herself several times. Her behavior came across as intrusive and demonstrated a disregard for personal boundaries, despite appearing to frame the interaction as customer service. I also used the restroom during my visit. It was a decent size, although it felt somewhat crowded. Given the volume of customers this location receives, I believe the restrooms could benefit from more frequent attention and maintenance. Finally, while checking out, I had another unpleasant interaction. The cashier made an unnecessary comment about the email address I provided, referring to it as "trash," or making a similarly negative remark. Regardless of the exact wording, the comment felt inappropriate, unprofessional, and entirely unrelated to completing my purchase. The overall price range is costly, the value is to be determined. Overall, the store itself is enjoyable to browse and offers a pleasant shopping environment. However, my experience with multiple employees left a lasting negative impression. If customer service and respectful interactions are important to you, this location may not meet your expectations. If you're simply interested in browsing the books and merchandise, your experience may depend largely on the staff you encounter that day.

As usual, I am surprised that I had not dropped a review for this bookstore, and I am here at least once a month, at the very least. Immense selection of books greeting cards, gifts, fiction, nonfiction everything is arranged and organized accordingly. I just love this bookstore. Great big parking lot that is free but it is shared among many businesses at the Long Beach town center. Great experience each time. Prices are fair (compared to Amazon?) at least you can actually pick up a book. Read it at the café and if you decide to buy it go for it if not, then just return it.

They used to offer good prices for things sold and had good deals. Their biggest perk was they released games before release date, but now it seems like they are shady and corrupt. Staff act like they are above you. I liked this placed when I was in high school but now they got some real stuck up staff. Had one that just ignored me and the other one it almost got violent. Lying about warranties and price of sale for things. Two visits in a row I Got this neckbeard talking down to me when i'm twice his size. Only person in the store. Would be thrown out on the spot working at my business. Acting like he owns the place. Maybe the owner hired some high school kids or something but it's absurd behavior. Just give me the prices and information I'm asking for. Anything more I don't need. If i wanted BS I would just go to Gamestop. So after the mom incident told this dude to come outside and he backs down and says he's going to call the police, pretty funny after all the hostility. Unacceptable behavior in a retail job. It takes just one clerk to ruin a businesses' reputation and with online shipping and COVID it's safe to say these brick & mortar game stores are on their way out. If your employee is so hostile I almost choose some prison time because of his behavior, he should never work retail again, and I'm never entering your shop again. Watched the same guy tell a woman and her little kid to leave because apparently she was browsing too long. This is the third time I see this guy acting out. I'd had 4 of my friends say they had an incident here in the past year. If this store was in Stockton, San Pablo or Oakland, it would have been burned down for sh*t like that, or you'd have an employee in the hospital. Safe to say goodbye to this store for good and their other one. Shame, it used to great when I was at Millikan. Guess I'll just have games shipped to me. read more

This store used to be great. Been going here 12 years since they were a hole in the wall up the street from the Los Al High school. Now they have new staff and one particular boy needs a front kick to the head, or rather kicked out of the store. This isn't the first time in the past few years staff have been hostile either. They've had serious issues before. But only the past 5 years or so. Went there last tuesday night and the chubby boy behind the desk was so rude and hostile I ended up walking out before I turned the place into a crime scene. Boy needs to be checked and swept. Regardless, will never be returning to this store nor will any of my kids or friends after hearing about it. Frankly online shopping is the way to go now. Better that than support these swindlers or Gamestop. At least online your refunds/warranties will be guaranteed. read more

So over all this place is DOPE! I walked in here and felt like i was in a time warp. They carry all the old-school systems and games that had me running back and forth throughout the store like an 8 year old. On top of that they have all the new-gen consoles and games which are a bit cheaper than gamestop, its not a huge saving but the $3 you save gives you an excuse to buy pocky or a ramune :) I will definitely be coming back soon since my new friend James advised me to pre-order a game($1) and said they will call me before the release date, WINK WINK. So why 4 stars? This place has a ton of stuff to browse through but it feels like they dont have enough space for it all. If the store was slightly bigger it would be perfect but as it stands still whoops gamestops ass ANY DAY! read more

Went to this store back when they were further down the street about 5 years ago. Been going that long. And I can tell ya now, that frankly, the manager has grown bitter, and they hired this spoiled blonde bitch who works their all the time now, bad attitude, doesn't know a damn thing about games, and is only there so the nerds can see some titties. I don't think I'll ever walk back into the store again. They got her dressing up as Harley Quinn and all kinds of things, and it doesn't help one more. Just makes me hate the store, and her bitchy attitude even more. Never seen an employee ruin a good store so badly......RIP. may as well just buy games online. read more

Gameplay has a great selection of games, helpful staff, and are readily available by phone. I really appreicated Russ's helpfulness and patience. He's a great asset to their business. Everything I've ever bought here has worked. They have a really generous return period for any product that's nonfunctional, which I'm happy to say I've never had to use. They usually have any console I'm looking for in stock, AND at a reasonable price. They're my #1 go-to ever since I stopped going to gamestop. read more

A great alternative to the consistently impersonal and pretentiously sales-driven store that is Gamestop. A great selection is available, from retro games from the 16-era to modern releases. They're very reliable with their release dates as well. A trade-in/reservation system is available as well, if that's your cup of tea. read more

Nerdy Related just opened earlier this year, with their grand opening sign promoting role playing and trading card games. It wasn't too busy when I stopped by on a Tuesday afternoon, so had a chance to talk to the proprietors about how things were going. They are both from the Long Beach area, and were very excited about their new venture. It's small but super bright inside, with product not overwhelming the space. There is an area in the front for a couple of folding tables/chairs where community card gatherings/tournaments are meant to be hosted. I joked about being so close to a dispensary, and they mentioned that they considered it a positive, with curious folks stopping in. Positivity just permeated throughout the store, and I couldn't help but have it soak in. Was definitely in a better mood leaving than when coming in. As often happens, great customer interaction/service resulted in more purchases. Definitely spent a bit more than original intention, but they had a (expensive) Pokemon set that I've not been able to find anywhere else, and will be a future birthday gift. For myself, I bought a Union Arena card set with characters from Demon Slayer.... there is one for Solo Leveling as well, but was told that it's very hard to keep that in stock. They get their product from a distributor, so prices will be higher than directly from the manufacturer or from a big box store. But availability is a huge factor (TCGs like One Piece, Pokemon are super popular right now with certain sets just not available without big markups), so thought the pricing was very fair. And I loved the shopping bags that came with the purchase: with an expensive looking wax seal clearly branding where the purchase came from. There are binders with loose Pokemon cards for sale, so can spend time looking through those. They mentioned that they don't have a searchable online catalog yet, but hope to do so at some point in the future. Much thought has been put into the opening. It's the kinda place that I would imagine the guys from The Big Bang Theory would hang out: having discussions with fellow geeks and nerds about all things 'nerdy'...cause...you know...it's in the name.

The group that was there was super friendly too they told me when they usually come in and said they'd be happy to help me learn. Overall it was such a great experience. Everyone was really welcoming, and it made trying something totally new feel easy. I'm honestly excited to go back and play magic the gathering for the first time.
