The owner is very sensitive when you call him out on selling games that are overpriced. They will try to offend you personally when they do not have a reason to justify the pricing. read more

Updated review: on this review you will see a screen shot of my original review from a year ago, and the messages the owner sent me most recently regarding my review. New review: George the owner. I posted my review over a year ago, he still sends me messages in a mocking manner. As I was just posting my review with honesty. What kind of owner treats people like this. I think all his 5 star reviews are paid or given for a discount. My review was on par with the rest of the other 1 star reviews because there true. There complaints on either the price, the store, or the owners customer service, like the one with the little boy. I don't know about you. But if this is how the owner responds over a truthful review, I would hate to see how he reacts to returns or any other things that inconveniences him in the slightest. Buys beware! Spend your money on offer up, Craigslist, or Facebook market place, as they will appreciate your business better than the owner of game hogs. I hope this helps anyone out there, debating on going here or not. This is just what he told me. I can't imagine what he tells the other 1 star reviews! read more

Great service!! Love the fact that we're allowed to test the games before purchase! Quality over Quantity all day.

Got a ps2 from here friendly people let me Play the games before i bought them great selection of game i will be back forsure read more

Me and my buddy made the drive to check this place out and we were blown away by the selection of games. I've been to mostly every retro video game store in the OC and LA area and none of them even compare when it comes to the amount of game titles this place has. George the owner was really cool too, we were laughing and talking with him the whole time. I'm definitely gonna be going back soon. I also don't really understand why people choose to give this place one star reviews over the prices, this place has a HUUUUUUGE selection of games I definitely hadn't seen anywhere else so I don't understand why people expect thrift store or swap meet pricing when it comes to the games. Also if you're into collecting for the ps2 George probably has multiple copies of whatever game you're looking for read more

Service good, prices seem a bit high but priced at how much worth to the nearest 5th dollar; and they have everything from the NES collections to Xbox Series X/PS5 read more

Definitely taking advantage of gamers who don't do their research. Went in to buy injustice 2 legendary edition for ps4 and they were selling it to me for 20. Which is the retail value for the game sold brand new. Tried to bargain for the used copy and worker ignored me. Then priced some old game magazines at 15 a pop each. No wonder there is so many games. Way too overpriced. You're honestly better off going to gamedude or even GameStop at this point. read more

Love coming here since 2016 I know the manager and the employees they are really cool people. I rather come here to buy old skool games for the ps2 and Nintendo 64. The value is always great it doesn't matter how much the games are. As long as you play them you will always have fun read more

I loved this place! Came in and I was helped right away. The guy helping me was super sweet and friendly and even cleaned the discs for me :) I was looking for a couple specific guitar hero games and I found them plus TONS more. Definitely coming back to support this small business!! * Also everyone was wearing masks + the place is big enough where you can still practice social distancing so I felt super safe!! read more

Too expensive! Games are double the price from eBay prices. I was getting an anxiety attack every time I asked for a game's price. I don't recommend Game Hogs to anyone . If you want to buy a game, try OfferUp or eBay. Don't waist your hard earned cash on Game Hogs. read more

I drove all the way from Ontario trying to sell a game , and when I got there I saw that they were selling the same game on their counter for $80; when I asked how much for my game they told me $30 store credit, I wasn't offered a cash value for it. I decided to not to take the offer and browsed the store when they showed me a box of used accessories all being sold for $10 each. I saw this Pokémon case and took it to the counter to check out and the dude helping us out had to send a pic and message his boss how much for this specific case, it's funny how it went from $10 all the way to $40. This used to be the spot for vintage games and hard to find items when I used to live nearby , but now it's just overpriced and getting my games valued as if I were to walk in to GameStop. I am better off going on eBay and finding the items for half the price. I would not have driven down here to get charged for way less/more than the value you can find online IF YOU DO YOUR RESEARCH. Going based off the track records and reviews this business has on yelp, I await a smart backhanded answer from the owner George. Update// owner is saying there was no $10 box of accessories when that's what his employee said that day before I went digging through the box. Said Accessories that I was gonna purchase was way cheaper and in new condition elsewhere. $40 for something used, dusty and crusty was a joke lol. read more

honestly just a bad store overall staff is cool the owner is a huge A-HOLE would avoid this store unless you live to pay tripple market i have also seen customers have bad interactions on offerup talking about their wifes genitals and then responding to their listings saying he makes more money than them and that their items arent worth anhthing read more

This store is the reason people are going back to online auction sites and Mercari. Their prices are about 20% more than you would pay anywhere online. I know video game nerds are difficult to work with and that they can be hard to please, but this store has no gray area. You are either an idiot with a lot of money to pay for their overpriced games or you're a broke person with no understanding of pricing If you balk at their prices. They also flood OfferUp with their ads constantly. Gamehogs Gamehogs everyone gets Gamehogs!!! The store is a mess, the customer service is non existent and the owner is constantly competing with normal consumers to find games out in the wild so he can sell him at his store for more money. It's a ghetto store for ghetto people. Like I said, I'd recommend you save the gas and just buy any game they have from an online site. read more

Overpriced games and most of them aren't even in good condition. They do have a large library of games but you're better off buying online or a nearby store like OG Collectibles that are reasonable with prices. read more

wouldn't recommend due too a bad experience to whom ever the employee was that I spoke with the time came either due to poor training or picking the wrong people in the interview to work for thus place good luck read more

George is the man! He helped me get all set up with our N64 and we couldn't be more psyched. He really knows all there is to know about video games and helped us get everything we needed. Will definitely be back! read more

Gamehogs - Video Game Stores Near Me - Los Angeles, California

Called this guy because I was selling an Xbox one S for a friend and the owner tells me to come back the next day because he wasn't accepting anything at the moment. I call him up the next day and tells me "ohh yeah I didn't go today, so come back next time" I'm assuming my friend's xbox is an unlucky sell or this dude has the habit of leaving his customers hanging. read more

When I arrived at the store, I immediately saw that everything was way overpriced. When I started to point this out, the owner started to yell at me. The crazy thing was that he had a sandwich in each hand. I couldn't understand what he was saying as he had food in his mouth but his yelling drove me out of the store. read more

As expected, the owner takes zero responsibility and immediately claims fake review. When you constantly give people bad attitude, don't expect much in return. Your store is bad, deal with the bad review. read more

Owner know literally nothing about video games and tried to low ball me. If you're looking for some profit do yourself a favor and don't go there. It is also over priced. read more

This place looks like a garbage dump. Games are just strewn everywhere getting crushed and damaged. Smells bad. And then when you find something you want they change the price on you from what's listed on a whim. Trying to charge over double or triple what pricecharting lists. Do not shop here unless you want to get ripped off. read more

What a horrible experience!! , those guys laugh at your face!! Literally , 30 days warranty? What a bad joke ! The don't validate the warranty even at the nex day , save your money and time go to other place, they get rude really quick read more

Love how they rearranged the store, but GOD DAMN !!!!! Those prices are through the roof and into the milky way. Not sure why would anyone pay these outrageous prices. $60 bucks for a Sega Genesis 1? $50 for a PlayStation 1? geeeeeeez, neither of these consoles are worth over $30 dlls each. These asking prices should include at least 2-3 games. Not only are these prices atrocious, but remember that you will be paying a higher tax rate because it is located in LA county. I guarantee you will find better prices elsewhere. read more

The store is always in a state of disarray -- but it's kind of a fabulous disarray. Great selection although requires some digging around to find gems. The staff is nice enough but the real draw is the wide, crazy selection and volume. read more

Read the reviews before going in, thought I'd give them a shot in person. Went in with a stack of games- offered me $85 for the whole stack when I know just one of them (Pikmin 2) can be sold for $90 on ebay. A joke. Then he started talking shit as I packed my stuff to leave. Come here if you wanna be ripped off and treated like trash. read more

A hole in the wall , a virtual reality paradise. I appreciate this place and the guys soo much! I found the store on OfferUp. Glad I came here, the guys were very helpful and knowledgeable. I told them what I was looking for and they made some helpful recommendations. They tested the equipment and games to make sure they were in working order! I got a great price for everything! If I have any questions or problems I know that I can reach out to the store! I wish I had gotten the 2 guys names that helped me though. Would come back again and I do recommend this place to my family and friends! Glad the store is still open and they are taking precautions. #gamehogsessential read more

Went in to buy some Pokémon cards! Awesome local game store with jam packed selections of everything from cards to games! The guy that works there was extremely nice and cool. The prices were very reasonable. Plenty of parking right in front on Beverly. Will definitely come back. Thanks read more

At first I was told I could exchange my stuff if it didn't work to get something else and when I went the dumb ass manager said "no exchanges for different things only on the system you bought is the one we can exchange" like Bro first of all on the damn receipt it says "exchange only" it doesn't specify what I can exchange on so if I want to exchange it for something else I can which is what I was told by his employees , I saw that the dumb ass manager calls people broke too even though his bitch ass can't exchange shit or give store credit and when he does it's half the price of what you paid for it. If you're looking to add to your ps2 collection go to Game Hogs for their overpriced games with no room for negotiation. Game hogs also excels in customer service with their sleaze-ball employees playing video games in the middle of the store and not having a friendly bone in their body whilst doing so. In all honesty you're better off spending your hard earned dollars on ebay rather than giving it to these money hungry lames. lol "GAME HOGS!".... read more

Went searching for retro video games and GameHogs turned out to be an excellent choice. Convenient parking, amazing game selection for every system you can think of. The owner is very knowledgeable and will work with you if you make a reasonable offer. Recently expanded so they have toys, comics and other collectibles as well as an incredible selection of video games. Owner encourages you to dig around and explore the store to find what you want and I found this to be quite fun and a welcomed change not having to ask to see each game one at a time. I will definitely be returning and now have GameHogs on my favorite list of places to shop for video games. read more
