Amazing, great transition, great name because of Mario, and just a wonderful store to be able to go buy things and do things in regards to retro stuff and video games probably some newer stuff too, but that's what I mainly went for read more

I'm not a modern gamer, but I still play more video games than I'd like to admit. Mostly the classics, from when home consoles became a thing. 8 bit Nintendo! Which is exactly what I liked about this store. Plenty of NES titles at reasonable prices. And while I usually buy most of these online, I found the prices to be comparable. At least for the one's I was eyeing. Adventures Of Bayou Billy, Dr Mario, and Skate Or Die. Yet ultimately went with the first one mentioned. The cartridge worked great on the first try. No glitchy, pixelated, or blank screen whatsoever. I always give them a cleaning with 91% Isopropyl Alcohol before inserting for the first time. And found this one to be pretty clean. The QTips usually look like I've dipped them in ink afterwards. Not here though. Wonder if they clean them beforehand? Yes, I could have possibly saved a few bucks buying online, but for various reasons I wanted to support this business. Which has been around for quite some time. Also I found the vibe here to be way more chill, compared to the recent GameStops I've been to. The music playing here was really cool as well. read more

When going to a place like this you're usually in a good mood and happy because of the retro nostalgia. But in this case, the only employee working, Jimmy was not having it. He made it abundantly clear that he did not want to provide service for anything and that I should check out the other store because this is a "more of a warehouse." he was eager to have me out of the store and referred to everything as junk. I honestly hope that he could find a job where he wants to work because this ain't it. read more

Very cool spot, lots of game options including excellent selection of retro games. Service is super friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend over places like GameStop read more

I needed a repair done to my VIta. Just a replacement joystick. Simple enough. They quoted me one joystick for replaced for $30, both for $40. And I asked if they could have it done in an hour. So I wouldn't have to go back home. I paid an extra $10. I was glad to pay it. Not sure what more you could really ask for. Fast work for a reasonable price. And the staff was really cool as well. Crazy they did it for a decent price when a store down the street was trying to charge me $95 for the same work. I will gladly bring all future repairs into the store. Thanks read more

Great store and wonderful service. Brought in my old NES for repairs and they fixed me right up for a good price. Highly recommended!

The Staff were very nice and understanding and informative. My Girlfriend and I go in every so often to get 3DS and DS games and it's been super fun. Every other place I see they sell retro consoles for a ridiculous price but here they sell them for a reasonable price, makes collecting Consoles and games so much easier for casual collectors and gamers. read more

I asked for game cartridge slot to be repaired for my 3ds, they inspected it then found other issues. The thumb sticks and battery, I said never mind do the battery. Came back and said they fixed the cartridge instead of the battery when I said to fix the battery on call. Was already a scam because it was 50$ for a easy battery repair. After the repair, if you would tap/slightly hit it on the corners it would power off. They were nice but bad customer support. read more

Been going to both World 8 and World 8-2 often for over 5+ years to buy new and used games, consoles, and controllers. The store has a cool, chill vibe; always streaming game bgm music and a fairly decent collection of games on display. This place is pretty awesome when it comes to pre-ordering new games. You can pre-order in person or online on their website but I usually like to go in person to pre-order. Most of the time, I was able to get my pre-order copy earlier than the scheduled release date. The staff are always friendly and knowledgeable about the games they have in store and online. I recently came this location to repair my old GameCube and not only was the service was fairly quick, they were transparent about their diagnosis and repair times. I felt like the repairs were fairly priced and affordable. I really love this place so much and I highly recommend to check this place out and give this small business some love. read more

This is the worse video game store in LA the i came in to try and get my portable PS1 LCD monitor fixed and the owner was giving me a bunch of lies about the parts, the prices and where it's coming from after I was going through the store to see what they have and it's all cheap and overpriced games. I wasted my time going there in this very hot day of 100 degrees temperature, besides the weather stay far away from this place. read more

It's like a video game museum inside. The man working there was really friendly, you could tell he was passionate about gaming culture. Neighborhood isn't the best but I was able to find a meter near by. Really nice selection, reasonable prices. read more

Super helpful staff that goes out of their way to help you out. Would recommend supporting this business!

Drove all the way here because someone recommended this store to get a used power supply for my console. When I got there they had the used cable but would not let me test anything before I made my purchase. If you need to purchase any used consoles or cables I would just take my business to GameStop instead. read more

this place is ridiculous. they always post hours closed at 8pm and every single time they're freakin closed so ridiculous. if you're not open, change your damn hours m0rons. not only that their prices are more than other places ripoff read more

Great place to trade in old used working condition games , consoles, and controllers for a reasonable price of either store credit or trade in cash read more

So here is an update: I had been looking at my bank statements and like I said I returned the Item. But instead of them checking it as a return and return the funds, they give me the return as if I did cash back. Be really careful about your transactions her. That in it itself is shifty and I hope no one else has gotten this done to them. Now this would really be a situation where I was not angry at returning the item and was apologizing for my lack of not being aware of the store's policy. It wasn't until I was being Belittled by the employee on how a USB works. So now here the update read more

World 8 - I spent 98.54 on the Keyboard and then upon retuning the item I was instead give cash back. As if I did a cash back from my purchase... - Videos & Video Game Rental Near Me - Los Angeles, California

I called World 8 yesterday because we came across an old Game Cube in our closet and wanted to inquire about donating or recycling... Fast forward to today when we showed up out of the blue with a Game Cube, controllers, a PSP, gaming guitars, and a hoard of games across multiple platforms (early spring cleaning). We didn't expect that they'd want everything but they gave us an amazing cash trade-in for the lot and were so nice, friendly and knowledgeable! Stop in and check it out!!!! World 8 is what Game Stop wishes it could be! read more

Just for people misled by Yelp, they don't sell Trading Cards. Great service though. The guy at the front desk was really nice about it

This place is an awesome find. Replaced my damaged laser lens in PS3. Quick turn around at a reasonable rate. They also have quite a selection of games for purchase. All in all a fun place. read more

Brought my switch in for a housing swap because i didn't have the tools to get the front screen off. Provided all the parts and custom joycon analogs too. The worker who looked at my custom analogs kept saying it's for switch lite even though i knew it wasn't because they came from an old switch joycon set i had. He didn't take them and insisted they had some in the back but i didn't wanna pay extra so i came back the next day and gave him my set and he said he'd "give them to the tech" . A week goes by and i finally start hearing from the tech that he's working on my switch and a couple days later i go to pick it up, and what do ya know. My white analogs weren't installed. Kind of annoyed at that point from waiting for so long i just left. Turns out they never even gave me back the analog sticks i provided. They just took them lol. The housing swap is great and all but if you need an immediate fix or want to get parts back you might wanna go somewhere else . the customer service from the dude with blue eyes and the girl were super great though. Only reason i'm really giving three stars at all. read more

Helpful staff and nice rotating selection. A must visit for any gamer in LA! I bought several games my first visit and they gave me a few freebies of overstocked PS3 games. Awesome! read more

Poor customer service. Sold me a defective game and wouldn't let me return it. Dont shop here.

The staff here are very nice, and they have a collection of games from many generations of consoles!

Staff is incredibly rude and unwelcoming I will never be back here. All 3 of them working today made me so uncomfortable and they didn't even say hello back or ask if I wanted to look at anything. RUDE ASF. went down the street and bought from the sweet lady working by herself. The 3 weirdos working today around 3pm cost y'all so much business read more

Don't bring your games or consoles here their trade-in value is beyond low almost insulting ,take it somewhere else where they could appreciate with decent value... read more

I "traded in" around over 50 games and a few systems to try to get a nintendo switch in 2017. I didn't know anyone else nearby who took retro stuff besides gamestop. I ended still being short so I had to substitute cash. I was actually annoyed that they charged me tax for the switch since I was trading in my games. I don't live in west LA any more but I started looking into retro selling and found out that the ratio that World 8 took my games in for was around 10-20% of what they were selling it for and they also valued my games as incomplete even though I had box and manual for 80% of those games. I believe they first told me they took it as 40% as store credit but they took in almost every game I brought in for $1-2 store credit each when I had some gems such as completed Mario Cart GameCube, grandia Xtreme, phantasy Star episode 1+2, SNES + games. Overall, It's my fault for not scrutinizing and doing my research, since I was just trusting their word. read more

Hadn't been in years but they kept my account forever! Lucked out and had $10 store credit after all that time!

Yo! Big shout out to Curtis! My boy hooked it up with the last 3DS XL still in the box! The line wasn't that long, I'd say ten minutes tops. Most customers were tourists so they weren't in the shop to buy items. Mostly to browse, so that made the line go by quick. I went right in there and went straight to ask if they had any 2DS XL or 3DS in Stock. There was only one. I nabbed it quick. Service was amazing. Returning customer for sure. They had retro games. If you're a collector like I am, this is a spot to check out!! read more

World 8 - Clean screen!!! - Videos & Video Game Rental Near Me - Los Angeles, California

This is for the Little Tokyo location. They've got a lot of cool retro games that range from a good deal to overpriced. One star bc of the service - I was browsing for a good while and was never at any point asked if I needed help, I noticed based on their interactions with other customers they seem to blatantly ignore women in general. When I approached the register to ask a question I got glared at and the experience was so off putting I left even though I had planned on buying a couple of vintage n64 games to display. I thought gamers were past this type of thing but apparently not. I felt like I was back in 2006 being condescended to by Gamestop bros. read more

Great game selection, reasonable prices, and friendly staff. Return here to buy games regularly would recommend

Went to the LT store to sell a few games and had a terrible experience. The owner, Edgar, didn't have a friendly demeanor right from the start. He was mostly silent and didn't even tell me what to expect. I had to prompt him about it and at that point, he asked me if I had an account to get store credit. I said I didn't want to make an account for store credit and just wanted cash. He then gets frustrated and tells me that I need an account for cash. I was confused because I didn't need an account to sell my stuff last time. He finally tells me that I need to show ID which I apologized and told him that he didn't need to be so rude. This petty little man then tells me "I don't need to deal with this." and wanders off while telling me to go to GameStop. As much as I like to support smaller businesses over corporate owned stores, I suggest avoiding this place like the plague. read more

Long story short went to the one at Little Tokyo and sold me a "New GameCube Controller" and got home did not work I want a refund not store credit since they don't have the controllers I wanted I understand it's a third party item but selling broken controllers to people and tricking them into getting store credit. I ordered some Zelda figures from this store online, since they were super expensive everywhere else. Luckily, they were decently priced here.
