**DO NOT GO HERE** Insanely rude. I've never heard anything so unnecessarily disrespectful like this before in my life from any professional. I called and very politely asked a simple question of how much a ps5 repair typically costs for power issues. Like if the issue was the power supply unit how much does that cost, ballpark assuming of course they have fixed PS5 consoles in the past. He responded and said "OK put your PS5 on the phone dude" and started laughing, mocking me and getting rude for absolutely no reason like I was crazy to ask this question. If you want to say "prices vary" or something that's fine. But he chose to be an absolute jerk. And obviously has no actual experience or would rather pull you into higher prices than you could otherwise get. So instead he just chose to just be rude and mocking. I called back to tell a manager about the attitude (hardly ever do this) and same guy picked up the phone, pretended to be the manager and very sarcastically said "oh no please do go on." I was stunned. I have no idea how someone like this works in any job requiring customer service or any job at all really. Just a miserable, despicable employee that acts like a middle school bully. Very likely the same employee that the person in the review right before this left. Nobody should ever go to this store. There are much better options who treat customers with respect and are actually helpful like Game & Video right on Vermont in the same area. read more

I'm not a modern gamer, but I still play more video games than I'd like to admit. Mostly the classics, from when home consoles became a thing. 8 bit Nintendo! Which is exactly what I liked about this store. Plenty of NES titles at reasonable prices. And while I usually buy most of these online, I found the prices to be comparable. At least for the one's I was eyeing. Adventures Of Bayou Billy, Dr Mario, and Skate Or Die. Yet ultimately went with the first one mentioned. The cartridge worked great on the first try. No glitchy, pixelated, or blank screen whatsoever. I always give them a cleaning with 91% Isopropyl Alcohol before inserting for the first time. And found this one to be pretty clean. The QTips usually look like I've dipped them in ink afterwards. Not here though. Wonder if they clean them beforehand? Yes, I could have possibly saved a few bucks buying online, but for various reasons I wanted to support this business. Which has been around for quite some time. Also I found the vibe here to be way more chill, compared to the recent GameStops I've been to. The music playing here was really cool as well. read more

I needed a repair done to my VIta. Just a replacement joystick. Simple enough. They quoted me one joystick for replaced for $30, both for $40. And I asked if they could have it done in an hour. So I wouldn't have to go back home. I paid an extra $10. I was glad to pay it. Not sure what more you could really ask for. Fast work for a reasonable price. And the staff was really cool as well. I asked for game cartridge slot to be repaired for my 3ds, they inspected it then found other issues. The thumb sticks and battery, I said never mind do the battery. Came back and said they fixed the cartridge instead of the battery when I said to fix the battery on call. Was already a scam because it was 50$ for a easy battery repair. After the repair, if you would tap/slightly hit it on the corners it would power off. They were nice but bad customer support. read more

Been going to both World 8 and World 8-2 often for over 5+ years to buy new and used games, consoles, and controllers. The store has a cool, chill vibe; always streaming game bgm music and a fairly decent collection of games on display. This place is pretty awesome when it comes to pre-ordering new games. You can pre-order in person or online on their website but I usually like to go in person to pre-order. Most of the time, I was able to get my pre-order copy earlier than the scheduled release date. The staff are always friendly and knowledgeable about the games they have in store and online. I recently came this location to repair my old GameCube and not only was the service was fairly quick, they were transparent about their diagnosis and repair times. I felt like the repairs were fairly priced and affordable. I really love this place so much and I highly recommend to check this place out and give this small business some love. read more

This is the worse video game store in LA the i came in to try and get my portable PS1 LCD monitor fixed and the owner was giving me a bunch of lies about the parts, the prices and where it's coming from after I was going through the store to see what they have and it's all cheap and overpriced games. When I got there they had the used cable but would not let me test anything before I made my purchase. Brought my switch in for a housing swap because i didn't have the tools to get the front screen off. Provided all the parts and custom joycon analogs too. The worker who looked at my custom analogs kept saying it's for switch lite even though i knew it wasn't because they came from an old switch joycon set i had. He didn't take them and insisted they had some in the back but i didn't wanna pay extra so i came back the next day and gave him my set and he said he'd "give them to the tech" . A week goes by and i finally start hearing from the tech that he's working on my switch and a couple days later i go to pick it up, and what do ya know. My white analogs weren't installed. Kind of annoyed at that point from waiting for so long i just left. Turns out they never even gave me back the analog sticks i provided. They just took them lol. The housing swap is great and all but if you need an immediate fix or want to get parts back you might wanna go somewhere else . the customer service from the dude with blue eyes and the girl were super great though. Went to the LT store to sell a few games and had a terrible experience. The owner, Edgar, didn't have a friendly demeanor right from the start. He was mostly silent and didn't even tell me what to expect. I had to prompt him about it and at that point, he asked me if I had an account to get store credit. I said I didn't want to make an account for store credit and just wanted cash. He then gets frustrated and tells me that I need an account for cash. I was confused because I didn't need an account to sell my stuff last time. He finally tells me that I need to show ID which I apologized and told him that he didn't need to be so rude. This petty little man then tells me "I don't need to deal with this." and wanders off while telling me to go to GameStop. As much as I like to support smaller businesses over corporate owned stores, I suggest avoiding this place like the plague. read more

I "traded in" around over 50 games and a few systems to try to get a nintendo switch in 2017. I didn't know anyone else nearby who took retro stuff besides gamestop. I ended still being short so I had to substitute cash. I was actually annoyed that they charged me tax for the switch since I was trading in my games. I don't live in west LA any more but I started looking into retro selling and found out that the ratio that World 8 took my games in for was around 10-20% of what they were selling it for and they also valued my games as incomplete even though I had box and manual for 80% of those games. I believe they first told me they took it as 40% as store credit but they took in almost every game I brought in for $1-2 store credit each when I had some gems such as completed Mario Cart GameCube, grandia Xtreme, phantasy Star episode 1+2, SNES + games. Overall, It's my fault for not scrutinizing and doing my research, since I was just trusting their word. read more
