I was searching for a Nintendo Switch for my daughters birthday. I recently found out about the shortage and price gouging online and regret not buying it earlier so after a quick and fruitless search in my current area (South Bay) I asked my wife to call Game ER. This store used to be one of my old haunts when I lived in the area. Both my wife and I grew up nearby. My wife lived right down the street. Neither of us expected the owner to completely refuse service and talk over her as she asked for the system and then asked to be put on a waiting list. She even offered to buy 2 games after he explained he would only sell to loyal customers of 5+ years. She was refused any service (he would not put her on the waiting list or even sell her the 2 games) and could barely get a word in. He automatically assumed we were out to make a quick buck off the shortage when all we want is a Switch for our daughter. Other reviews online make reference to the Better Business Bureau receiving a lot of complaints. He always has some smart remark to any negative reviews he gets. I understand giving priority to loyal customers to an extent but turning away new business, or in our case, returning customers from years back, is just bad business. Avoid this place like Covid-19. read more

I took my sons PlayStation here to get it fixed, it was not reading the discs. They informed that the laser needed to be replaced. So we went ahead with the service and had them replace it. It was not $10, it was $20 for each of the items I dropped off. I understand not getting anything back for th Nintendo switch because I decided not to use your service because you were to expensive. I did mind losing my $20 for the tablet that your business did nothing for. How does it take someone over a week to "research" and justify not returning the deposit with an attitude. I am usually all for game stores with classic games, but I bought a GameCube controller from them they said was all original, I payed a bit more for this. They said they test and clean them inside and out. It worked fine but it had some response issues,(thought it was just a jank controller) for about a week and then my joys stick had a drift in it. So I open it up to try and fix it and I find out the board inside a 3rd party one in a 1st party case. The controller is a fine 3rd party one but if you say you open and clean them please sell it to me at a 3rd party price. read more

Small shop, took my son's broken Xbox one controllers for repair. They fix them for a good price. They are friendly and knowledgeable.

I walked in to drop my game console for repair. I even included the parts needed to repair it. All he had to do was put in the new part and put it back together. I explained what needed to be done. The repair guy was there and said he could for sure do the job. I gave them my deposit and left. I was confident it would be done. I waited almost 3 weeks to hear from them to just tell me that they couldn't repair it. That part was broken and to come pick up. I ask the guy on the phone exactly what was wrong and he couldn't really tell me what was broken. I ask to talk to the repair guy. They told me he's not there. I was telling the guy if he would look he would be able to see that theres a new part there. They basically wouldn't help me and ask me to pick up my property. They have really bad customer service. Why is the guy at the counter calling me about a repair issue that he doesn't know about. It should be FUCKEN repair guy. Those guys basically stole my money. They kept my deposit after they said that they could do the job. I found somebody from the online community that was able fix the console in a day. It didn't take 3 weeks. I definitely wouldn't come here for my console repair needs. They don't know what they are doing or listen to their customers. Don't come here and get robbed like I did. read more

First time coming here & it sure won't be the last! Earlier this week, my Xbox One S broke and I didn't know why. I was so frustrated and I tried calling over 10+ places and Game-ER was the only one that helped. I drove over an hour away just to get it fixed, and let me tell you, with the service and the pricing, I wouldn't mind my Xbox breaking again just so I had another reason to come here!!! Jimmy is wonderful. My daughter went through issues with her Ps4 for about 21 days. Going through 2k support and Playstation support, they weren't able to resolve the issue and then it just got worse. Finally, we gave up and decided to take it here. He was able to fix it in two hours! He saw my sad little girl and told her not to worry! It was cheaper than playstation support fee and we only had the console for like 2.5 years so it was very disappointing and she didn't want to have to send it in and wait for it to be repaired .... they also have tons of games and consoles to choose from. During the Covid my sons switch broke. Not Knowing what it was, I took it to the game ER for them to fix. They had it for a few days gave me a call and let me know that they were unable to fix it as they think it was the motherboard. They did tell me to contact Nintendo and see what they can do. I contacted Nintendo like they said and they took the switch and repaired it for free and just sent it back within one week. I think these guys are great and if it wasn't for them I would end up having to buy a new switch for $350. I appreciate their help so much! read more

Went to get my DS lite broken top screen fixed. Placed $20 dollars for deposit. Couple days later Jimmy told me it's $40 for repair fee and $28 for parts ending up with total of $75 for the entire process. Jimmy told me over the phone that top screen is on back order and the $20 inspection fee is not refundable. As an alternative he offered me a used DS lite (same model as mine ). So ultimately I traded my broken top screen DS lite + $75 for his DS lite. Worth it? You decide. P.s. always ask for a rough estimate before leaving a deposit so you know how much you are about to spend. read more

The technician was friendly and clearly explained to me why a button was malfunctioning on my PSP after performing a diagnostic. The service fee was reasonable. The store also features a nice variety of games and systems. The problem arose when I came to pick up my system. Earlier, I turned the system on for him and saw the title screen of a game I had played the night before. Because of that, I assumed that I left my disc in it. When I got my system back, I saw a different disc in the drive. I went back to return their disc and ask for mine back. The technician checked the back and didn't find it. He then mentioned how the system will display the last screen you saw just before putting it to sleep, even with the disc gone. I realized at that point that I might have left my disc at home, and I even apologized for the headache. Still, I asked him politely to show me, but he refused to do so and lectured me about how I need to trust people more. How does one trust someone they just met? I've never met him before, and he didn't even tell me his name. He also implied that my intentions were less than honorable. In my experience, I've found that it's usually a red flag when people resort to such guilt trips, which only added to my feelings of suspicion. He reviewed the video footage and confirmed that my disc drive was empty when I gave it to him, but he wouldn't show me the video until I insisted. I left with the intention of never returning. All things considered, I enjoyed the store and appreciated the explanation of what was wrong with my system. My interactions up to that point were fantastic. However, I don't feel that my concern was addressed in a professional manner. I have no problem admitting that I was mistaken (albeit for a valid reason), but the technician could easily have resolved it without resorting to attacking my character. He even acknowledged that other customers have made the very same mistake. I wonder if he gives all of them the same treatment? read more

I only come here because Victor works the front sometimes and he is so professional and very informative when it comes to the merchandise. Jimmy is the owner, he's friendly but knows nothing about games and usually rips you off. I've been going to that store for a few years now but I would never recommend it to any of my friends. Seriously, if Victor is there he'll try his best to sell it to you for its actual value and you won't end up feeling like you got ripped off. Will not be shopping here anymore. Game Er seriously takes advantage of people that do not know a lot about games and anything involving that. I've seen him over price things so much I'm tired of it. This is a really cool mom & pop gaming store in Chino, CA. Jimmy and his crew are very knowledgeable, affordable and truly care about the environment. They recycle systems, repair and clean up as needed. Bring them any type of electronic system and they can either advise you about it, fix it or refer you to someone. Cost is reasonable with quick turnaround time. Next time there, I will ask about ipod classic repair which is almost nonexistent in our area. They are very friendly and you cant go wrong going in there. Plus they buy and sell games for all the gaming systems including the older ones. read more

Victor at game+er has a heart for classic games and consoles and I felt he was extremely honest and fair when it came to repairing our damaged fat-body PS3. Holy moly my PS4 was MESSED UP! Luckily I found out about Game-ER and I went there to hopefully restore my PS4. I went into the store and the employee named Jimmy greeted me warmly and kindly. He then asked me what was wrong with my PS4 I told him my fan wasn't working and my PS4 kept overheating and I told him I was trying to repair it myself. I showed him the product I was using and Jimmy informed me that I was using a subpar thermal paste. Jimmy then informed me they use the Arctic Silver brand at Game-ER and this let me know they using some high quality stuff. So I trusted Jimmy and his other employees with my suffering PS4. It took a weekend as they had to repair other consoles at the time which i thought was pretty fast. I got my PS4 back and I powered it on at home. I was afraid the fan would still be messed up and not cool down my PS4 but I didn't hear anything. I got closer to my PS4 and barely heard the fan that was spinning and pushing out the hot air while being completely silent. I was amazed, shocked, and extremely happy. If your console is messed up take your console to Game-ER! Thanks Jimmy and everyone else to worked on my PS4! read more

me and my husband enjoy video game hunting and visiting local game stores , our experience at Gamer ER. was not a good one, besides that fact it's not worth visiting . very small sad selection of Retro games , second prices are high, third , the owner, or worker won't work on straight trades or have a reasonable deals on buying . Another thing note to owner. Claims a well known retro store asked for his permission to open in Ontario . We do know that is not true, only because business buy or even exchange a items don't make them your undelings. overall besides that. I don't recommend the time to visit . read more

Three and a half months later, after using my Playstation 3 for about 48 more hours total, it suddenly died with a red blinking light and would not turn on anymore. I watched YouTube videos on what to do, checked inside the PS3, and there was not much dust. I called Game ER on a Saturday morning and spoke to a man, who I think is the store owner, and explained I had it repaired there before and now this happened. When I asked him how much it would cost to repair, he just said bring it in, and he would figure it out. Then I asked if he would buy my broken PS3, and he said bring it in, and he would figure it out. I asked how much it would cost to diagnose, and he said $20. I brought it in that afternoon, but the owner was not there anymore. The employee I had met previously was there. At least he was wearing a mask this time. He told me that because it was outside the warranty period of 60 days, I would have to pay another $20 for diagnosis. I asked if they would just buy it from me, but he said only the store owner can do that and I would have to come back when he was there. I complained that every time I go there, the owner is not there. (I had specifically gone there on a Saturday because I knew the store owner is only there on weekends.) The employee told me that usually, the owner is there all day on Saturdays, but he had to leave early to take his wife to a medical appointment or something. I took my broken PS3 to Pixel Vault in Ontario and explained my situation to that store owner. He asked if the people at Game ER had told me the problem would happen again with these fat PS3 models and that replacing the thermal paste was only a temporary fix. I told him no and that my $80 went down the drain. He was surprised when I told him Game ER charges $20 for diagnosis and extra money for parts because the Pixel Vault guy would have only charged me $45 total. In the end, he was nice enough to buy my broken PS3 for $30. It seems to me that when it comes to game console repairs, Game ER is all about making a profit off the customer. Pixel Vault is the way to go. Both places have good Yelp reviews, though. read more
