What a uniquely cool spot to hang out at. I was in the area during Easter visiting family, so I figured I'd explore and see what was out here. I looked up "records" on Yelp since I've been looking to rebuild my music collection with the termination of Spotify. It's got this old school arcade vibe, but there's a small rack with CDs, a section for records, another section for manga, merch and t-shirts in the back, and old school video games, consoles, and other stuff you can buy. There are two cabinets that allow you to pick games that you want to play, but don't take too long or you'll lose your credit. These games take quarters, so that's my gripe and what the minus one star is for. The workers here are cool and chill. There's a vending machine for snacks. I'll probably come by again one day when I'm in the area. It reminds of of the small arcades back in the day, so it's a nice trip to Nostalgia Town. There were two buddies who came in and got what sounded like was $20 worth of quarters to play. That was really awesome to hear a big chunk of quarters get dispensed. Have fun if you go! read more

This place really needs new management. It seems they are really struggling to define what they want this place to be. Also, I recommend having people with real customer service skills up front to deal with customers. I also understand everyone has their own political views and life views. But it's bad business to shove it down your customers' throats. Hope they can turn it around cause this place has potential but unfortunately the owners are becoming their own downfall. Maybe hire someone with some business management skills or at least a marketing degree. read more

Worst Experience Ever. The owner has no professional ppl skills. His employee doesnt have the brain capacity to give me the correct items (consoles with right cords and controllers that dont work) and i had to waiste my gas 3 times thinking he had it right the second time. How does a console they sell me dont read disks and cant even find their inventory? I asked them multiple times if it works and correct and said yes like it bothered them. Sorry i asked. I even brought him chips and water and said thank you then turned his back to tell the owner i wasnt patient with him but has me waiting near 1 hour in the store helping other ppl that are just looking and not asking for anything (his friends) like get with the program. I was more than patient but the third time? Your waisting my gas for lack of attention. Either you dont know or dont care and it seems like he dont care. Then he almost didnt want to refund me or guve me recent repaedly trying to kick me out aggressively unprofessional. The the owner (white guy blonde hair) was jealous i had better yugioh cards than him and i was sharing my music to his friend. The owner said i was annoying his friend yet when i asked his friend he said that wasnt true. This is not the first time he acted this way with me and was hella rude. He gotta taste of his own medicine. Im sure the word of mouth will spread fast for the customers that witnessed it acting disrespectful and FAILURE IN PROPER CUSTOMER SERVICE. They had an event the other day and so many kind people were gifting other people tokens to play the arcade games. (Tokens that they paid for btw.) The worker said that's not allowed and started confiscating the baskets of tokens from all of us. This place is cool but too bad people like that have to ruin the fun for everyone. Geo and Robbie were incredibly kind from the moment I walked in. I loved the vibe from just entering, it felt like an arcade meets someone's bedroom cozy ambience. The back area had a cute fish tank with two little fishies in a tv with an Easter island head in it. I loved the selection of records. This place is perfect for manga lovers too They had bean bag chairs in the back and tons of manga and gambit video games. So much nostalgia in such a cool shop. Amazing place to buy legit and fairly priced Japanese games and merchandise that you wouldn't find at a typical store (think hot topic or any anime store at a mall) The inside has an arcade with multiple cabinets with games like Tekken and Pop'N Music. I mean, what a treasure of old school games and underground music. Here's some of the things I liked about Rat Nest: Design: doesn't look like much from outside, but once you walk in, you're in for a treat! The store is decorated in gaming memorabilia from the 90s and 2000s that will make you feel like you've died and gone to nerd heaven. They've also got some great selections of arcade style games against the wall (even one of those claw machines) Quality: since the owner (Robbie) is a major nerd, he's no stranger to video games and the quality of his assortment is of a high standard. What's more, he's got a collection of records, t shirts and artwork on display! Service: I had a nice conversation with Robbie during my visit and he couldn't have been more polite. He even explained (in great detail) the story behind one of his favorite games 'Silent Hill. Extra perk: Of all the amazing things I loved about this place, I'd say the coolest part about this store is that it's also a venue for live music. So, if you're in the area (or even if you feel like taking a trip) it's definitely worth visiting. All-in-all I give this place a solid 5 star review. I hope to play here with my band soon! Great store in Chino with amazing staff and service. I came in to get my GameBoy Pokemon cartridge battery replace because it was not saving and ended up with a couple of extra items. They have a lot of niche and hard to find items like Typing of the Dead or Japanese retro games. Very few retro game stores collect Japanese language items but Rat's Nest does. This place just opened in November. I just want to say that this is a amazing place to go for video games, music/ Vinyls, anime, movies, and si much more. This is a place where you dream of when you are young or when you live in your 80s where you dream of having all the things you which are your own home, but at this store. This place is all vibe. The place is decorated like an anime/video game den in the coolest ways. Some of the displays are super interesting. The place, although a little cramped, is full of character. They have a nice selection of used games from all generations as well as Japanese region stuff. Same with the media selection of DVDs, Blu Rays, and a bunch of interesting vinyl for the off the beaten path collector. Mainly, I just love the arcade cabinets that are here. A handful but a cool interesting selection, including Vampire Savior, a NEO GEO cabinet that has Garou Mark of the Wolves and they just got House of the Dead working again! I competed in a tournament/concert that was held here about a week ago and it was honestly one of my favorite nights of 2024 and such much fun. (Top 6 placement babyyyy) I don't know the owners name but he's cool and the place is friendly to those of all walks of life which is also important.
