3 years ago my wife and I went out shopping to celebrate our Anniversary. One of the places we stopped at was Pegasus Hobbies, as I had been considering taking up slot car racing as a hobby again, I was really in to it as a kid, and so was my Son when he was a youngster. All of the staff was friendly and helpful, but Eric in particular was very instrumental in getting me excited about re-visiting an old childhood obsession. In the three years since, Pegasus and their staff have been very helpful and supportive. They have never tried to sell me anything I didn't like or want and they've always seemed genuinely happy to see me, greeting me with a smile whenever I entered the store. I once had to exchange an expensive car months after purchasing it and they were happy to oblige, even though I didn't have the receipt. I read a review where one customer called them racist. First timer and I was impressed by the variety of items they carry. Anything from R/C cars, R/C planes, trains, games, puzzles, paints and so much more. Great place for collectors or hobby enthusiasts. The store itself is huge and organized by category. Staff were friendly. I had a fun time walking around and looking at all of the different items. Haven't been here in a few years, but they've moved to a new location just a few spots down the street from previous location. Place seems to be much larger, but they no longer have the outdoor RC racetrack in the back - used to be able to see it from the 10 fwy. They have a huge selection of hobby items - RC, models, die cast, etc. you could spend a lot of time in there looking at all of their selection. I love building model cars and they have a lot to choose from. Workers are very friendly and helpful. If you need something, they'll help you find it. Prices are fair. There's not too many hobby shops anymore, so glad that Pegasus exists and provides good service and products. First time here and I was impressed at how much stuff they have - especially all the model items! They have so many things - from airplanes, trains, cars, spaceships, landscape, etc. There were even things from old movies and tv shows. There were also puzzles, small stuffed animals, and other toy items. I didn't buy anything this time (although some of the mini stuffed toys were so soft and cute!), but it was cool looking at everything. Not sure how pricing is since I don't build models. But other things seemed to be reasonable. One of the guys at the counter has been there for a long time. He's quite a character and was funny and cool with us. Other workers were helping people, too. I've gone to this store twice and the prices are ridiculous. I first went a few years ago to buy a Losi 22s drag car. Told the employee who pulled it up online and the price on his monitor was $199 but when he scanned the rc he said the price was $320+. Told him I'll buy it online before he and another employee heckled/ pressured me to buy it and telling other employees to not help me anymore. Went again a couple weeks ago to see if there was change but the prices are still $100+ what you can buy online. Terrible prices and worse customer service. read more

I came in looking for Warhammer 40K models and supplies since I have just entered the hobby. I spoke with Nick and another employee who I can't remember the name of unfortunately. However, they showed me a lot of paints and gave me great recommendations and alternatives to cut some costs so that helped me a lot too. They also have a large selection of minis from primary factions. Overall the employees helped me a lot with getting the most out of what I needed while also getting it for a very fair price. I'm a big Gunpla fan and was looking into some hobby shops that are near where I live. Thanks to Yelp, Pegasus Hobbies was one of the top results and decided to make a visit to the store with my sister. The store itself is pretty spacious and kind of reminded me of a warehouse. There were quite a lot of customers that day when we went and the staff there were helpful and nice. I ended up purchasing a High Grade Gunpla kit while my sister purchased a Pokemon kit. Having been a model builder for 50+ years I had high hopes for visiting this store first time being new to the area. Unfortunately I had a poor experience in the store with some unpleasant and condescending staff member, which I've never had before browsing in such a shop. As the store is quite disorganized and randomly arranged it is difficult to navigate and know where specific items are, and what is 'ready for sale' vs. 'items for packaging'. (whatever that even means; it would be helpful to politely explain it to the customer vs growl at them). read more

I was going to give this place a 1 star based on the RC car/truck section. This place is huge and they have a ton of selection, I came here to specifically buy a Losi Mini B pro roller but figured I'd also take the RTR version if they had it. I drove down there from Burbank since I refuse to buy from my local shop due to horrible customer service. I walked in with my wife and we headed straight to the section I wanted, there were 3 guys hanging around the counter and I asked them if they had the pro roller. I was given a hard no and that was the end of the conversation, not a "we can order it for you, let me see if we have any coming in" nothing. I grabbed the RTR box and scoped out the rest of their stuff, I really wanted to grab some batteries for my new Xmaxx but I didn't want to talk to the guys working the counter. It blows my mind that these people just don't care, especially with local shops closing or reducing inventory due to internet sales. Horrible customer service and models that are more expensive than online and you start to wonder why you would even shop here.... We turned the corner and wandered into the Airplane section, my wife mentioned earlier that she wanted to try her hand at flying a plane and that's when Tony walked over to us. He was the most patient and knowledgeable person I've dealt with in years, brought back nostalgia to when I first got into RC cars back in 2001...he showed my wife a bunch of great beginner planes and even gave her a quick lesson on the simulator, at no point at all did he try to sell her a more expensive model than she needed and he was opening boxes to show us the difference in models. In the end she walked out with a Horizon Sport cub S2 and she was very excited. I never thought she'd get into the hobby but she took her first step I almost put back the Losi since it was more expensive than it would've been on Amazon but buying locally keeps people like Tony employed. I personally won't purchase another RC from this place but my wife confirmed that her next plane will be purchased from only Tony. Staff has ALWAYS treated me like an intelligent, seasoned hobbyist, unlike other hobby shops, whose staff would rather be sitting on a barstool. As a married man, their layaway program (25% down/90-days) here is the best deal around. The selection here is OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!! Cashier's are VERY nice. Tony (R/C Aero) has ALWAYS kept me airborne. Tom's AWESOME, too!!!!! He swapped out an r/c helicopter's electric motor connector for me once, and it ran like nobody's business. I consider Jeff (Plastic Models) like a brother. Nick's cool, too. I can yak ALL DAY LONG with these guys, while my wife's at her "lady" stores. In all my years living in Chino, I've never had a good enough reason to check Pegasus out, despite the new location now standing next to what used to be Bullwinkle's. Entering the store to look at Enterprise models and the cards in stock however brought me in, and gosh, was I shocked to see everything available. Service wasn't bad, but being that it was a busier day, I could tell everyone was focused on getting tasks done amidst helping so many folks out. Prices are good, and I'd never seen some of the models this store actually carries, some dating back to the Golden Age of science fiction. Definitely worth the money. If you can, try to come in with a goal or plan of attack, as if you enter wanting to find a new hobby, you could be there all morning. Shop as well sells paint, brushes, train set and RC vehicles. Now this is a consummate hobby shop! From models of everything conceivable to a rather large model train selection and more miniatures and related books pertaining to role-playing games (RPG) and the like than anyone else save, maybe, Amazon. Walking in the front door is like a zone of confusion for someone with ADD! The glass cases contain a little of this and that. A micro sample of what lays in wait after the winding hallway leads to the vast interior. Like big box stores, Pegasus Hobbies utilizes floor space with long aisles filled from floor to ceiling with whatever your fancy might be. Tamiya 1:35 scale military models? There's an enormous section devoted to World War Two ships, planes, tanks and infantry. Prefer cars? Tons of those too, not counting the separate toys and remote controlled sections of the store. Two visits in and I'm still feeling like I haven't come close to getting a grasp on what they have. Selection. Almost across the board there's an unbelievable breadth and depth of inventory. I was impressed with the new old stock (NOS) items lurking behind sliding wall sections. In fact, this impressive display style invites customers behind the perimeter counters to browse and handle almost anything. Conversely, I noticed many of the items in the glass cases are hardly organized, at least with any regularity, so prepare to spend a little more time scanning these. I found that all of the employees I came into contact with were helpful and friendly. Some offered information about boxes of discounted and consignment items too. In sum, I can see myself visiting often and I especially like the diversity of the store and can envision gifts for almost anyone be they those cool plastic dinosaurs near the checkout line or the kiosks of candy scattered about. This is like a trip to the past, I'm glad hobby shops like this still exist, much less on a gargantuan scale! read more

I'm not sure if customer service is there fourtei, but for a Hobbie that's dieing as a store front they don't seam to care if customers come back or not. The R/C car section looks like they need a hug or something, cuz they seem to act like they get paid in cole. Walked over to the plastic model section for some Pegasus exclusive wheels for a model, and the Asian dude, and the girl behind the counter seemed to have a better day not greeting anyone cuz the conversation they were having was much more important. The only people who really went out of there way were the plane section, and the lady at the front register. I never got my wheels, and asking for my rc car parts seemed like I was pulling teeth. Sorry to see that some of the reviews are mixed. I believe it may be due to different experiences depending on what you are looking for. First off this place is huge. Like half the size of an old-school ToysrUs. Trains, planes, autos, RCs, modeling, D&D, Wh40k, this place seems to carry it. My review is specifically for my experiences in the RPG/wargaming section (i.e. Warhammer 40k) and painting section. Jeff, the guy who I see most often is knowledgeable and helpful. If you don't know what you need but have an idea of what you're going for, he knows his stuff and is happy to help you figure it out. If you know what you need, you can jump behind the counter and checkout the deep variety of models and paints yourself. The Wh40k and Age of Sigmar inventory is the best I've seen outside of the Warhammer store in Monrovia, but with one key difference, better prices. I went here for my first time recently after seeing it located off the freeway for years. I felt like a kid again going to Toys R Us for the first time but now the store is full of big boy toys. They need to upgrade and update their website because it does not reflect nearly a crumb of what they have under one big roof. They have the largest number of items for numerous hobbies RC cars, boats, tanks, and planes, die cast, resin and plastic models (assembled and assemble yourself) trains in multiple gauges, and slot cars both main brands Carrera and Scalextric. I found their service really patient and informative. I am setting up a slot car track and had a lot of questions and the 2 people I spoke to were really nice and answered all my questions that I asked over the course of any hour while I was there. They told me money saving tips too so I felt they were more of a hobbyist than a saleperson, which I appreciated. Some hobby stores specializing in only 1 specialty like slot cars might have more manufacturers like Slot It and Policar brands but Carrera and Scalextric commands most of the market especially in the new digital format where all other brands need to be fitted with a chip compatible with their systems. So you can possibly find more brands offered in some other specialty hobby store but Pegasus has the largest amount of hobbies covered under one roof with fairly deep coverage in brand selection. Been coming here since I was 8 years old. Short and sweet: you won't find a better hobby store with more knowledgeable staff. Especially on their Warhammer side. I've had phases of RC car hobbies, RC planes, board games, trading card games & table top miniature games, and Pegasus has been there for all of them. Pricing is typically very reasonable as well. My experience has been that some of the little "accessory" items tend to be more expensive than other options, like your nippers for model kits and glue. But then the core of your hobby is almost always 10ish % cheaper than anywhere else. Go get into a hobby and put your phone down! read more

It's a hour and twenty minutes from my house so I can only go if I'm in the area. Last time I went was about five years ago , I just went again today. Great selection of kits. Model painter here. Great selection to pick through and competitive pricing. The rep that helped me upsold me on a box, but, he made me feel stupid for asking questions. I would have bought more but I didn't want to deal with the guy. When I got home there was a damaged part in the box. I dreaded bringing it back and sure enough, the same rep was there and he did his best to belittle my concerns. He swapped out the piece but kept hammering on how I should have fixed it myself and this was the smallest non-existent damage he ever saw, and all boxes come damaged in some way. He might be right. I'm new to mini-painting, but I won't be going back. Life is to short to pay good money to be treated poorly. Maybe the kit car and other departments are different. read more

This place is probably the biggest Hobby store in CA. There are 100s of all different styles of planes mounted from the ceiling, Die cast cars "so many that I just could not take it all in and at price ranged from $6 to at least $200. They got games, plastic old school do it yourself car models, boats, trains, rocket models, rocket motors and more. They sell RC cars and have a nice track in back of the building. Heard glowing reviews from a friend, so I checked out Pegasus Hobbies. They had a few items that I wanted to purchase online, since I'm not in the area. I had some questions about some the items, (they don't give enough detail about the items on the web site ... basically, just a picture). They didn't responded to my emails and their phone is almost always busy, so it took a long time to get in touch with anyone. When I finally was able to place my order online, their system hangs up and does not process the payment (Paypal) so I tried again and again. I ended up having 3 transactions, so I called the store. The person who handles these kinds of things wont be around for at least 24 hrs, so now it's possible that I may get 3 orders of the same items sent to me. Update ... the next day, my order was straightened out, then a couple days later they ship out my items. They packaged the items well and nothing was broken. I was overall very pleased with the purchase. A couple suggestions, would be 1) to reply to emails, even if automated emails and 2) update your online ordering to work better with PayPal. It would have be nice if you could have sent me a catalog of your items in which I could purchase, because your web site doesn't list that many items. read more

I have to say I will not be going to this shop any longer. I have been shopping here since 1998. I would come to shop and spend most of the day having some fun at the track. I remember helpful staff willing to answer questions and help you with R/C stuff. Fast forward to their recent relocation. The staff is totally rude. Especially the skinny 20 something with the neck beard. All he seems to know how to respond is simple yes no answers and gets frustrated when asked for a further explanation. I voted not to go their but did again today. I received good service but witnessed this same guy giving rude answers to an Asian gentleman. I think maybe their racist because they handed me some batteries and other items over $200 value and proceeded to eye ball me as I walked to the counter. If it's your policy to bring those items to the front do so. Just don't treat a person like a thief. Not going back. Better prices to be had online and elsewhere. read more

My review is specifically for the model paint department. I'm new to the hobby and naturally have questions. The young man with the long hair + glasses in the department (didn't get his name) has always been helpful with advice and recommendations. Paints, spray cans, brushes, tape, sand paper, whatever.
