The guy working talked to a couple patrons before they left, but as I was looking around, he didn't bother asking if I needed help finding anything. The staff at the comic book store in Claremont - A Shop Called Quest -are way better at helping, asking if you need anything, and like to talk about comics. Value: 0. Overpriced. Hello, I've been to this comic book shop a few times. I like the selection and the layout is really user friendly. I'm rather new to comic collecting and I've been trying to keep my collection growing, but because I'm new to the hobby I don't always know how things work so I try to ask questions to the workers at the stores I visit. The store has one person who is honestly kind of rude. He is an older bald white guy. I've interacted with him a few times in the past briefly but I always felt he was kinda short and rude with me in comparison to how he interacts with other guests . I thought maybe I am overthinking the interaction so I always just let it slide and kept coming back. I told my partner briefly about this and he even agreed that maybe it could be me over thinking. I went in with my partner and this time I asked a question to the cashier about comic releases and the rude guy interjected and made condescending comments about me not knowing how releases work and overall made me feel really stupid. His whole energy just makes me feel like I'm not welcome and that I'm less than because I'm new to the comic hobby. When we left the store my partner immediately was like "is that the guy that is always rude to you?" I don't think I will come back to this store again because of how rude and unprofessional that guy is. He just really lacks customer service skills. read more

I had a really bad experience at Comic Madness. From the moment we walked in, the girl behind the counter was rude and had zero customer service skills. She acted annoyed that we were even there and kept that attitude the entire time. When we asked about prices, she responded in a really sarcastic and dismissive way. At one point she said "25..." and when we tried to clarify she said "like 25 cents," which just came off as rude and unhelpful instead of answering a simple question. It felt like she was being intentionally difficult. She also told us she was working alone, but there was a guy behind the counter too -- and he was actually nice and polite, which made the whole situation even more confusing. Overall, the experience was uncomfortable from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. Customer service makes a big difference, and unfortunately this visit was a miss. read more

When you first walk in you can see walls of comics and figurines. They have comics from DC, modern cartoons (e.g Bluey, Powerpuff Girls, etc), and many more There was someone welcoming us as we came in and helped us with showing the latest items.It seems that each comic was reasonably priced varying from a few bucks to $20. I travel around the US and often stop at the local shop to see what they have. I am no longer an avid collector, but still love these places. This store is like most other comic book stores today. It's is crammed with good reads and the dusty smell of pulp heaven. New books and graphic novels are on the walls. The center has cases upon cases of back issues. It's a feast for the eyes. I loved walking around and looking at the books. They are signs that ask you Not to open books and read as this is not a library. But I don't mind, I was there to browse. I only gave it 4 stars because they lack a lot on the Statue and Toy section. They have a handful (5 or less) in a pathetically empty and dusty display. Sadly this place needs to add some items to their collection if they want to compete. read more

Went in last week out of curiosity and they had a big 60% off sale going on with their back issue bins, I ended up with a haul at a great price. Their selection is mostly made up of modern comics, and the store itself is pretty small and a little cramped, but it was still fun going through all the comic bins. Im recently retired and thought it would be great to organize and categorize my collection of over 10K books. I also wanted to fill-in some gaps of some runs and maybe look at what's new in the comic world. I entered and was greeted and I asked if I could just "Look around." He nodded and I began. I quickly realized his inventory was very limited. the inventory seemed to start from the 1990s and on. A lot of. my collection was from the 70s and 80s so every time I looked for a book to fill a gap or a run, they did not have it. However, any book I inquired about in the past 20 years they had on hand. So, it was a hit and miss. I'll be back but only for newer items as I know looking for Silver age is a waste. read more

I came to this shop because of the good reviews. Once I arrived there I was not greeted, nor was I acknowledged. When I began to look through their selection, I noticed there was a slab of plywood over the comics I wanted to see. I asked if they could move it, but they said they were busy. They were busy talking and busy on their phones. I would've moved the wood myself, but it's not my store to be moving stuff without permission. It is also not my real to do so. I don't understand how owners/ employees can get away with treating customers that pay their bills like that. Please do not come here if you value customer service. Their over all selection is great. My boyfriend and I came to this comic store for the first time with high expectations from the reviews from Yelp and Google. Walked in and received no acknowledgment or greeting from any of the 3-4 workers behind the register. They were too busy to look up because were having their own conversations! They have a great selection of comics and the store is organized, but they are lacking customer service skills as it did not feel welcoming at all. Like most comic book stores, the comics are arranged in alphabetical order in "boxes" where you can sort through them. There was a section where they had a wood covering over a whole selection of comics with some free comics on top. While asked if we could see the selection under the board, the guy at the front said he was "too busy" and "did not have time" to remove the wood board covering and comics for us to look at although there were three other employees behind the register plus himself that could have done so instead of just talking to each other. Extremely rude, especially because we could have spent more money at this place! Next time we'll just move the board covering ourselves. read more

Have spent literally thousands of dollars in this place over nearly 15 years. Walked in today and was instantly, rudely informed that they were closed. A split second later, one of the clowns said "Leave the store sir! You don't have a mask!" Two were wearing masks and the third, behind the counter, was not. Total hypocrisy! I will never return to this pitiful excuse of a store and neither will the dozen or so buddies of mine that got referred by me to this place now that I've shared this info with them. Besides this, the store has gotten extremely cluttered and unorganized over the past few years. Last time I stopped in I spent nearly $600 on wall variants and a few back issues I'd missed. Normally, I dumped some good money with each visit. Even picking up special issues for friends after calling them to see what they might want. Obviously, Poor Ownership and management leads to lackluster business performance. I wish them nothing but failure. I recommend 4 Color Fantasies and A Shop Called Quest any day over this dump. They are way more organized and respectful to their customers. This business has fallen so far from the one I used to frequent not so many years ago. They give the hobby a bad name. read more

The store has no selection of copper, golden, or silver age comics, but they have a solid collection of recent stuff. The best part of the store is that the stuff is very friendly. Do I like that hardcore thrash metal music that they play? I do not. But who cares, the employees are very friendly if you have a question, and in this day and age, that's invaluable. read more

First time visiting this store. Soon as I opened the door. The guy inside yells "Can't you read the sign, we're closed". Very rude. Especially if you're trying to bring in customers during these hard times. If you were closed, then you should lock the door. It was my FIRST time there. I used to go to this shop when I was in my teens. It always had uncaring, kinda off-putting workers. And looked terrible. Went in to visit and found they'd really re-designed the place and streamlined everything. I was greeted when I came in by a long-haired chap behind the counter. He was sitting and watching something on TV, which was always indicative of someone who worked there. Oh well, at least I got a greeting. I grabbed Volume 2 of Saga and put it down at the register. And then waited for half a minute. Once it was obvious that I hadn't been noticed over the dazzling glow of the TV screen I put the book back, gathered my two friends and left the store. So excited that my son & I found this place. The prices are great...& be on the watch as you walk around the shop for deals on some items. The shop is small but kept neat and organized. They have $1 sections and certain discounts. Jeremy who greeted us and put together our purchase was actually really nice. It's in a plaza ,next to an Italian restaurant so parking is plentiful. Just wished I knew more about comics But love that there are places like this that my son & I can go to consistently as our weekend thing to do. Thank you comic madness we will def be back read more

As I entered the store the guy working in the store who is not wearing a mask yells I need to have on a mask even though I'm fully vaccinated. He might as well had yelled I don't want your business. This is one warm and welcoming place. I used to go hear years ago and there was a very rude man who worked there. They now have a new staff and everyone is really nice and helpful. My parents, who know nothing about comic books, have gone in to buy gifts for me and have had great welcoming experiences. Although they have very little gold and silver age comics they have a huge amount of comics from the late 90's to present. This is a great place to find variant covers! If you are new to comic books they will be nice and talk you through where to start and what series will be easy and fun for you to read! read more

The average comic consumer will be pleased but I was not really thrilled with the selection. If you read mainstream press and titles this place is fine. They have your everyday bunch of Marvel and DC titles to wet your whistle and even a bunch of variant covers (again of mainstream press). My dad goes here on a regular basis and is a fan of the normal fanfare so this is great for him. Frequent fliers like him get 10% off their books. However, like my dad I'm a bit of a comic shop drifter... there isn't a home base for us to get our regular pulls (although this shop has the forms to fill out to do this readily accessible to you next to the counter). This marks the first shop I went into that I nearly walked out empty handed. Hell, if I hadn't been backlogged on Fatale I would have. Kind of interesting for a place that carries a lot of variant covers that there wasn't really a variety of stuff out of the ordinary here to get. Oh but there's a new graphic novel with A Girl With A Dragon Tattoo that was present there that I considered picking up too... but that could have been in almost every other shop I'm more frequent at. 3 stars for the staff being nice, bagging and boarding, and for them having Hero Clicks as well as variant covers. Sometimes it sucks knowing better :( read more

Great comic shop. Needed to pick up a new issue of Mouse Guard and there it was on the New release shelves , Awesomewasome! The browsing was good and the new manager (less than a month) was very into comics and also helpful but not hovering. We talked across the store while I browsed about Comics, Cons and movies. I really like Golden Apple and Meltdown but Comic Madness is just about as well stocked and so much closer. Other Inland shops should visit and take a cue from a really good Comic book store. read more

If your a comic shop regular, then this stores right up your alley. There outstanding organization makes it really easy to find what your looking for quick when it comes to current issues. Everything's separated and organized in a really thoughtful layout. Other shops I've visited were a pain to find the recent issue you came for because they had a sloppy order system. The other great thing about this shop is that they get a good supply of the new variants that come out every week. They also have two big sales every year in which all variants and back issues are 50% off! I don't really like that they have a minimum purchase of $10 to use a credit or debit, but a lot of stores have that policy so why single them out for it. This is the best comic book store I've ever went to! read more

Comic book shops are not dead. There's at least 8 comic book shops in the 951 / 909 area code and 4 of them are great in various ways. This is one of them. The shop may not be magnificent in size, but what it lacks in size, it makes up in friendly service, non-douchery (yes, I'm making this a word), and sure, it may not hold too much in terms of back issues, but at least they are very fair with the back issues on the wall on that some of them are still cover price. They have great sales on their trades and their trades and hardcovers are almost always on a sale / discount price. Friendly, in-stock, and great sales -- I like this store. A lot. read more
