Galvin's is a regular stop for myself and a few friends who retired together. Our last visit on 11/18/24 for lunch was very good. The food, especially the Philly cheesesteaks were exceptionally good. Their grilled chicken salad is huge and fresh. Our waitress could not have been more polite and friendly. The layout of the restaurant is great too. If you have a large, medium or small group they go out of their way to make your seating as comfortable and private as possible. read more

I went to Galvan's per the recommendation of locals (I was in the area for work). It was pretty good- nothing out of the ordinary. The service was nice but slow (luckily I wasn't in a rush). With that said, I am used to a fast pace of life being from the northeast so take my critique with a grain of salt. Been wanting to stop in for a while now, and this weekend we decided to make it happen. Of course, this weekend was also Graduation and we noticed Main Street was closed for a bicycle race, but we were determined. Turns out, even though the restaurant was packed, we only had a 10-15 minute wait for a table to accommodate our party of 5. Our server arrived fairly quickly, and took our drink order. He apologized at the onset because the kitchen was evidently getting slammed (not his words, he actually said "we are very busy tonight") Which I interpreted as "the kitchen is getting slammed." Even though they were, our server came to the table several times making sure we were good on drinks, maybe another appetizer, etc. Basically letting us know we were still on his mind. We appreciated it. So, fried pickles can be great or awful, there's really no middle ground. Galvin's are great. Actually, everything they brought us was great. Staff was friendly, food was really good, and the price was certainly on point. We ordered the Tortilla soup, an Italian Hoagy, Chicken Cheesesteak, and salads, but everyone at the table had "plate envy" when my nephew's Pepperoni Stromboli arrived. I've seen beautiful stromboli before, but this one was gorgeous. Great food, great prices, great attitudes, and some really fun times. Will definitely endorse Galvins. Next time, I'll order the stromboli, though! read more

Trying something new we are in the neighborhood and this place was highly recommended. My wife wanted us to start with the buffalo chicken dip (it is awesome I will be back just for the dip). Then my wife decided on a bacon cheeseburger with fries. While I went with buffalo grilled chicken wrap. My wife loves chocolate cake so we went with that as well Yummy!!! First night in Georgetown we stopped in to grab a bite to eat. They were training a new staff member, so I won't hold the very slow service against them (but the trainer didn't seem to be hustling all that much either). The menu looked good, and the burgers promised to be made in house. No way those weren't commercially purchased frozen patties. The fries were also frozen fries (and I know for a fact they have way better frozen fries from vendors like Sysco as I've bought them). The beer and bourbon selection was decent and the prices were fair. But I still wouldn't recommend this place over another restaurant that is local. read more

We have eaten there a couple times now. First time was take out, I had the cheese steak and my wife had their mushroom Swiss burger, both were very good. Second time we decided to eat in and we both had a Stromboli and they were also very good. Service was on point never had to ask for a refill and if you decide to get the loaded fries for an appetizer just ask for a to go box for your meal because you will get more than you bargain for. The GPS indicated that the restaurant was behind where it actually was but we saw it as we drove by and parked right in front of the door street side with no meter! As we walked in, at around 2:45 there wasn't a lot of people for the vast amount of seating or anyone to greet us. After being seated we had plenty of time to read the menu and figure out what we wanted before someone greeted us and when she did she was the overly-friendly type. Not a bad thing, it's just a lot for me. I ordered the veggie burger, with onion rings. My friend ordered a cheeseburger with cheese fries and an order of onion rings. We waited less for the food then we did to get our order taken but I'm sure it's due to staffing. The food was delicious and I love that they use brioche buns! The only issue is the veggie burger was not properly cooked, so it was soft and mushy. It was so messy that I ended up just eating the bun with the LTO and getting rid of the paddy. This is a normal mistake restaurants make is just warming it up and I like it well-done and kind of crispy I guess. I'll have to order from now on as such. I will say it's VERY WELL PRICED food there! read more

It seems like I only come to Yelp to review places that give me stellar service, or they fail miserably. I'll save the time for anyone who doesn't want to read further. Galvin's exceeded expectations for me this weekend. My family ordered take out from Galvin's on a Saturday night. The promised time was 5:15 for pizza, a stromboli, a burger, and some appetizers. Seemed a little long for me to make that kind of order, so I showed up about 15 minutes early to pick it up. No one wants cold food right? Galvin's has a convenient back entrance for carry out orders where they have 5-6 parking spaces and a dedicated employee to answer phones and do check outs. The person working was dealing with a phone that wouldn't stop ringing and a constant flow of customers coming in for their orders. This employee was polite and calm with everyone despite the chaos, and they were thoughtful enough to offer a drink while I waited for my food. I was assured it would still be ready at the assigned 5:15 time. Sure enough, 5:15 hit, and my order came out. As I drove the food home to my family, I could feel the heat from the boxes and bag. I knew it was fresh. When we got everything out, the food was cooked to perfection. A 7 minute drive home did not do anything to hurt the quality of the food. The portions were fantastic. Too often a side of fries with a burger is not enough for me at other spots. I always order an extra. Not needed here. The pretzel appetizer used to be a GIANT pretzel, but now it was two perfectly cooked medium sized soft pretzels. There was plenty of food left over. I'd rather have too much than too little. We all relaxed well after a wonderful dinner thanks to Galvin's. Highly recommended for carryout! read more

My husband and I entered this establishment on a late morning not too long after opening for the day, we were one of the only people there. Our bartender was friendly and attentive. Being from California we were shocked by the low prices of the beers and food! The buffalo dip was awesome with great flavor and all of the beer and cocktails were pretty legit! Galvin's is a pretty good spot to grab a casual lunch or dinner, especially if you're looking to watch a sports game. They have plenty of televisions, and it's set up like your typical sports bar. It's a family owned and operated restaurant, which I love. Supporting local is always a plus for me! They boast a huge menu. Seriously there are 100+ items to choose from! They also have lots of beer to choose from, including many on tap. Plus, they have a cocktail menu and a full bar. So, no matter what you're looking for, you can likely find something here. All that said, the food is pretty good. It's fairly standard bar food. Lots of appetizers, sandwiches, pizzas, burgers, and if you're looking for something slightly more healthy they have quite a few wraps and salads on their menu as well. Came here tonight for great food, fun atmosphere and of course basketball and they didn't disappoint. The Service I had was horrendous to say the least. Went in on lunch break and no one seated us for 15 Minutes. One lady walked up to us and asked if we were looking for someone and then just walked away so we just sat down and waited for someone to come take our order. The food itself was very good! The jalapeño poppers were the best appetizer I've had hands down. The only downside was I had to eat my food at home because I didn't have time to eat it there due to the service taking so long to get us seated. read more

They earned a solid 4 stars on this visit. We were promptly greeted and seated in a booth as requested. It's a little bit dark for my liking, almost like a cellar feeling. The menus were super hard to read because of the lighting and the black background of the menus, maybe make the menus white with dark lettering. Our server was Casey and she was super great. She got our drink orders and immediately came back for our food order. She was very prompt in getting our drinks to us and very attentive. I ordered the Chicken Parmesan sandwich which came with housemade chips. It was very good. I would recommend a little more lighting but that's just me. The booth in the bar was very deep and while luxurious, hard to eat dinner from, and as a short person, I'd probably complain about the high tops in the bar, too. Typical pub food, rather large and varied menu. Restaurant was clean and not busy, but we were still told a booth wasn't available unless we sat at the bar, even though we were looking at four open booths on the non-bar side. TV's are playing but it's not so loud you can't have a conversation. I had a Chicken Philly with fries. They bring ketchup pre-packaged in small condiment cups with lids. We got one each. We were never able to catch the server either for refills of our drinks or more ketchup. The sandwich roll was excellent, soft and fresh bread. The chicken filling was meh. Chicken bits were tiny and you couldn't really taste them over the peppers and onions and provolone. I think if the chicken was less shaved and more a rough chop it would've likely been excellent. The fries were hot, crisp, and very good. My friend had the Philly steak and she said it was tasty. Would I return? Possibly to try a salad at lunchtime. But, probably not unless I was in a group that wanted to go here. Not bad for a local restaurant and definitely a step or two above the diner up the street. read more

People may thing small towns don't have much to offer, but Georgetown proves that statement wrong. My friends always suggests this place whenever I come visit. The place looks like it use to be an old car garage because there is a giant door they pull up so people can get a good breeze. The menu is a decent size. They have everything from burgers, pizza and calzones. I always go for the bacon cheeseburger with fires. People may look at the prices and thing it's outrageous, but the portions are worth the price. I always have leftovers. The food is always good and it comes out in a timely manner. Overall I have always enjoyed Galvin's and I'm looking forward to my next visit read more

Really enjoyed Galvins. We had a fantastic server (I wish I could remember her name... I just recall that she was moving that day).. good was great. Our group loved their pizzas and nice cold beers. Had a great salad too. Only complain (if you can even call it that) is if using google maps or Waze to find the place, it sends you down alleys and doesn't use a direct route. The beer selection is huge so there is definitely something for everyone. Can't wait to go again. read more
