The service was really really good. The food was like any other diner I've been to. My family felt the same. My husband said he thought his meal of two egg platter with country fried steak was really good. The gravy they put on top of it was really good too! The food is always hit or miss here. I've had some great burgers and I love their fried pickles, but their breakfast food is horrible. I ordered biscuits and gravy one time with a side of sausage (they've under cooked their bacon before, so I don't order that anymore). The biscuits were literally rock hard - i stabbed on with my knife and it bounced off. The sausage patties were also too salty to eat, so I just nibbled on my hash browns the whole time. Our waiter never stopped back by except to bring us the check 20 minutes later, and when I told him my food was inedible (and demonstrated the knife stabbing thing) he said "oh, well...do you want another?" No apology or anything. At this point my friend was already finished eating and I didn't want to wait for another plate, so I declined. I ended up still having to pay for my meal too even though I didn't touch most of it. read more

Great little place to get some great food for a good price. Place is much bigger than it appears outside. Good service, drinks come in huge cups and the portions are great. Almost every meal has two sides included. Got the Spicy Hawaiian burger and it hit the spot, with chick pea salad and delicious mashed potatoes. read more

Until my recent visit I didn't understand why this place has an overall low rating. Service: just as slow on a Tuesday afternoon as on a Saturday night. Food: burger was over cooked and dry (they don't ask how you would like it cooked), the burger bread was hard and burnt. The macaroni and cheese was nice and creamy. Fun Funky local eats. There are veggie options and a few odd favorites like chili cheese dogs etc... You may also get a corndog here. This is one of the few places I have seen, outside of a fairgrounds, where you can actually get a corn dog. Their space chips, homemade potato chips, are delicious and crunchy and warm. Their limeade is delicious and carbonated. Good place to go hang out and grab something to eat. A little pricey for simple diner food, but good overall. read more

Galaxy used to be one of my favorite cheap eats place in Richmond; however, my most recent visit to Galaxy was very disappointing. First of all the service was terrible, it's usually not that great, but this time it was awful. Second, the food sucked . Every time I go here I usually get the falafel burger with French fries and Mac and cheese. The burger was meh, the fries were cold and hard and tasted as if they were freezer burnt, and the noodles in the Mac weren't even cooked all the way. I'm very sad that they have gone so down hill, I don't think I will be going back anymore. read more

Stopped here on a Saturday while out shopping. My sister and I ate at the bar, great option if there is a wait. The bartender was a delight, very light hearted and real yet still professional. The establishment was clean and I appreciated that I could see the cooks at work. We had adult beverages that were delicious and our food was very good. The breakfast was good and my sister had chicken fingers and mozzarella sticks. Very good service, good prices, good food, good drinks. It's a diner and not a fancy smanzy restaurant so go with that fact as well. read more

Hate to say it, but we came here as a default beacuse the Greek place next door seemed to be closed. Sometimes defaults can be a good thing though! Came here for lunch on Saturday and the place was busy, which I took as a great sign. The diner was definitely pushing the 50s retro galaxy theme (as observed by their offering of Tang and, yes, their name)- so a bit kitschy. I was getting pretty excited for diner food, since they almost always serve breakfast all day long. A bit of a bummer that they serve pancakes with a multitude of fruits, but NO waffle option. I opted instead for a burger, chocolate coke (I guess a hurried version of an egg cream, but definitely NOT the same thing), and my two sides (fries and cucumber salad). The burger was sub-par and crumbled from its already-loose patty shape. They over-toasted the bun and it made for quite an interesting burger. The fries were decent, but perhaps the best surprise was the cucumber salad. Acidic and sweet at the same time, it reminds me of something my mom makes. I loved it. Oh, and it came with a deep fried pickle spear (didn't check if they sell those separtely). The service was friendly and fast, but the burger (especially) left a lot do be desired. read more

Galaxy Diner is a hopping place with great food. When I entered Galaxy I was seated right away, from what I understand sometimes it's hard to get a seat, and the waitress greeted me within a few minutes. I had to wait for my friend to arrive, but it wasn't a problem, the waitress took my drink order and went over a menu with me prior to my guest arriving. After he arrived she took his drink order and went over the menu with him. All the while never getting frustrated and doing a wonderful job. Our food was delicious, the burgers were cooked to perfection even without specifying how I wanted it cooked. My friend and I ended up staying for hours chatting and never once did we feel rushed to leave. The waitress was very pleasant and the food was great. We come here for the fried oreos.... Which are so ridiculously awesome. But they are the ONLY reason we visit. We've tried tons of things on the menu and nothing else has ever impressed us. The food is average at best... some of it is simply awful. Greasy. The service is consistently atrocious. Expect to wait a long time for anything. Water. Placing your order. Getting your food. And I would advise you to BRING CASH to pay because you will never get your check. The servers vanish once they've dropped off your food. Or ignore you. You will wait and wait and wait. Idk.... is horrible service part of the overall theme? Maybe I'm just out of the loop. But it really is a necessary evil I guess... at least until someone else decides to serve fried oreos. I went tonight for the first time in a year and a half and was disappointed to see that the quality of the diner had gone downhill. We were originally seated in a booth under a roof leak and with a bench that tilted up if I sat too far forward. We were eventually moved to another table. The server forgot to bring one of my side dishes and had to be reminded, and the food was so-so at best. The prices, at least, are reasonable. But it was a subpar experience all around. read more

Oh.My.Gaaaaaaawwwdddd!!! They have a Cobb salad that's ridiculous! If you're a salad person, heck if you're a person who eats FOOD, PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR and try it! My boyfriend and I eat there three times a week just for their Cobb salad. The other food is good, too, but this salad tops all the other salads in Richmond! I've been to the galaxy diner a few times now and haven't been impressed. They have some different concoctions on their menu that disappointed me such as this turkey and apple sandwich. This is one of my favorite restaurants, I go to galaxy every time I'm in carytown and often go to carytown just for the food. I went In today with my service dog and was given a very hard time by one of the employees. He told me he didn't believe he was a service dog even though he had his credentials. I didn't want to ruin the average of this restaurant by giving one star so I gave three because I really do like it here. But that was unacceptable. read more
