Ca Phe Sua Da/Vietnamese Iced Coffee
Cindy N.

This place is popular and known for their Ca Phe Sua Da or Vietnamese Iced Coffee! Since so many people order this drink, I guess they have all the coffee lined up and ready because I was surprised when they just handed me the coffee from their fridge right after I ordered. 'Iced Ca Phe Sua Da': Really strong and perfectly sweet Vietnamese Coffee! There's a lot of ice, but I like it because it's meant to allow you to slowly savor the drink so it's not too strong. I'm usually not a coffee person, but I loved this! 'Pork Pate Chaud': Tasty and goes well with the coffee! Crispy, flaky, but I wish there was more meat filling. Pretty small menu overall, but everything is decently priced. This place is small as well, more like a quick pick up and go spot!

Hubby picked up food here a little later in the afternoon so everything was not available that we wanted to try. We got the chicken and pork pate chaud and were immediate fans! So flakey and the meat was flavored really well and very moist. We got the Viet coffee and it was nice and strong with a wonderful roasted aftertaste. The steamed pork baos were just ok, we found the bao to be a bit dense and the filling a bit too sweet.

The BEST pate chaud, we were brainstorming places for a light snack with morning drinks and our vietnamese friends eyes lit up when I was reading Gala off the list of some places I had bookmarked. They vouched for the chicken and pork pate chaud as well as the banh mi. Unfortunately they had no bread today so we were not able to try the banh mi. Good news is we were able to try 6 each chicken and pork as well as their baos. Pork pate chaud, very large triangle puffed pastry. The meat is super well seasoned and is stunning. I left some for a Japanese relative picky about food and she loved it. The chicken one is the size of the pork pate chaud at other places and I liked it more since it felt more bite sized and not so large. Same insanely good meat seasoning as the pork, this is my new favorite. Baos were good, the quail egg ones were very fresh today. I didn't like the ultra thin layer on bottom of the bao because it felt like the meat was going to fall out so I ate them upside down.

This is our go-to bakery for pate chaud every time we stay overnight in OC. We would wake up and bring back a dozen for breakfast. The pate chaud is moist, juicy, the puff pastry is consistent and not dry or broken or oily. The chicken is made in a square shape and the pork is in a triangle. I prefer the chicken over the pork. Both meats are very flavorful but the pork is oily and a bit more salty. I also prefer the chicken because it's in a square shape. You get the equal proportion of meat and puff pastry. Whereas, the triangle pork shaped is airy, my meaning of bready because the pork is in the center so you'll have to bite through each corners of just bread before you can get to the meat. If the pork was made into a square shape, then I wouldn't mind. The chicken is cheaper at $1.35 each versus pork at $2.15 each. I also tried the chocolate croissant. It's the rectangle shaped not triangle croissant shaped. The chocolate was evenly distributed throughout and not so sweet but I feel something is missing with the outer shell. Eating the pate chaud fresh out the oven is the best. Parking here is limited but people do leave rather quickly to pick up and leave. They sell beverages like Vietnamese coffee, mung bean, and mung bean with pandan as well as Vietnamese sandwiches, sweets, and other items found on the counter.

My all time favorite coffee. The best Vietnamese coffee I've ever had, and I've tried a lot. I drive 25 minutes every week to get some coffee and chicken pate chaud. The coffee is so flavorful with a good kick. I honestly can't get enough of this coffee, it's seriously the best I've ever had. And the chicken pate chaud is so perfect for a simple morning snack. It's on a small street and hidden in a small plaza so make sure not to miss it!

I stopped by here for some quick snacks with my family during our trip in California. The place is small with limited menu, so we just ordered the pandan leaves mixed with green bean drinks, which is the only thing they have on the menu other than banh mi (vietnamese sandwich). The drink was a tad bit too sweet for me and very concentrated. I had to water it down with ice to make it taste better.

I was with my girlfriend and was really craving some Vietnamese Iced Coffee and since we were in OC there were plenty of places we could have chosen from but she was telling me this place is pretty popular so we decided to stop by and give it a try. It is a small little shop in the plaza with plenty of parking spots. They are following some decent COVID protocols but it could be a little bit better. We decided to order an iced coffee and pork pate chaud and it was ready right away. The pastry was good and nice and fluffy. It was a little bit more on the oily side. Now the coffee was solid and something I would definitely order again. I wanted something strong so it was exactly what I was looking for. The flavor was good and they did not overdo it with the milk.

I enjoy their coffee and chicken pate chaud. Everything is pre made so freshness will vary when you come in. Still very good overall. Are they following covid food safety protocol? Ive seen money handled before and after items have been given on several occasions. Come see for yourself.

The coffee house is in a larger plaza with lots of breakfast spots, so its PACKED. But, it makes sense because this place is so popular. Going in, I had no idea what to expect, but this place exceeded any expectations I could've had. The line area was organized and separated from the seating area, the line moved very fast, and the workers were so friendly! They had a large variety of drink and food options, but I ended up getting a hot Spanish latte and a banana muffin. They give you buzzers here which make the waiting process a whole lot less stressful. My drink and food came out quick, but while I was waiting I noticed that thing place has a variety of seating, from couch chairs, to group tables, to low seating outdoors. Everything feels nice and organized and there's so much attention to detail. Keep in mind it is very noisy here from how many people just sit down to hang out, and there's also a bar, which I think they serve matcha at? Now for my food, I got my banana muffin warmed. It's soft, fluffy, packs a lot of banana flavor, and most of all, I could tell it was baked fresh! This isn't one of those cafes that serves mediocre pastries, but will give you a hearty baked good to compliment your drink! My Spanish latte was perfectly hot, with the right touch of milk and spices. Surprisingly, it had a good amount of espresso, but not too much to be overpowering. Overall, my experience here was amazing and I would love to come back to try more of their baked goods! I alsoo really liked their lids, which come with a flippable stopper to keep your drink hot.

When we ordered, they mentioned that they do BOGO-free from 10 am to 5 pm. Osmanthus Oolong: This tasted too sweet. I'm not sure if it's due to the milk they use or syrup, but it overpowers the tea flavor. I don't taste any tea itself. I've had other osmanthus milk tea or oolong milk tea and they were much better. Unfortunately, this drink is quite mid. I wouldn't recommend it. I think the drink would taste a lot better if they reduce the amount of sweetness or milk since their ice and sugar levels are fixed.

Their Vietnamese coffee is quite strong and bitter, which I personally enjoy. It is a bit sweet, but that's pretty typical of Vietnamese coffee. What really sets Viland apart from other nearby coffee and tea shops is their matcha tofu drink! I typically only enjoy tofu in dessert form, like in Vietnamese desserts, so this drink was right up my alley. The matcha itself is good, although it isn't the best matcha I've had. The real star of the show is the tofu. It's incredibly silky and sweet, pairing nicely with the matcha and giving the drink a unique texture. I also noticed that their crowd ranges from younger customers to older Vietnamese patrons, which speaks to its broad appeal. With so many competing coffee shops nearby, Viland is definitely worth checking out, especially if you're curious about their unique matcha tofu drink.

Black sesame drinks and food are a guilty pleasure of mine. My boyfriend and I both got their Nostimo Cafe Muoi Me (Black Sesame Coffee) with less ice. I forgot to adjust the sweetness but that wasn't needed at all! When I took the first sip without the straw, I had a lot of black sesame notes as there was actual black sesame topping on the cold foam and the strong bitter coffee taste. Then I mixed it with the straw and omg, it was a really nice balance of strong, delicious coffee and a nuttiness from the black sesame. SO GOOD. We both enjoyed it a lot!
