So a lot of people say their coffee is delicious. Let me tell you, I beg to differ. The coffee flavor is lacking, it actually tastes diluted. And the dickhead that works the register was the cherry on top of our experience. We simply asked if they sold it by the jug, and he gives us that look, like we were idiots and replied, "by the half gallon and it's $22". Pretty damn expensive for WATERED DOWN COFFEE. This is a review for only their Cafe Sua Da. It;;s the best iced coffee hands down. My aunt knows the owner of this bakery. The owner of this bakery flew around Europe looking for the best blends. I think her trip to Europe was worth it. Tip: If you ask for the coffee without ice, you can store it in your fridge to drink another day. Just add the crushed ice yourself. read more

whoa. this place makes some seriously good sammiches. i ordered the pork sandwich, and it was in the fridge for awhile. i toasted it up for like 3 minutes, and took a bite. it was still darrrrn good. i must say its better than top baguette. but the downside is its only 2/3 the size of top baguette's sammiches. but i dunno something about the meat here that makes it good. coulda used a bit more peppers though.. i couldn't even taste any spiciness at all. but warning, warning. ghetto area dood. i mean its ghetto. and there isn't any place to sit down. u can squat ghetto style. or eat in ur car. but place to sit.. sucks. read more

I had something similar in San Diego. I wanted to see if the sandwich here is as good as the one that I had in SD. I had the pork sandwich and my husband had the chicken sandwich for $2.40 - $2.75 a sandwich it was very good value and the taste was very good. They also had a pastry that tasted like empanadas but better. We also had cream puffs. Next time I will try their drinks. This bakery does not have a place to sit so you might have to eat in your car. Just a little far from where Iive but definitely I'm coming back. read more

I'm a big fan of cafe sua da and this place has always puts a smile on my face. I don't know if this is a paradox, but I've 'grown up' drinking their coffee. The service is great and the environment for such a small place is ... comforting. It's definitely recommended for people getting into the iced coffee world. It has been a year since I last tried Gala's Vietnamese sandwiches. To my great disappointment, the typical stingy Vietnamese mentality has destroyed what used to be a good sandwich. I would advise all to avoid this place if you are looking for Vietnamese sandwiches. They have taken stinginess to a new low level by skimping on everything. Here is a list of the quality level you can expect to get with your sandwiches: 01. Day old or more bread. 02. No pickled daikons & carrots (seriously, this is like pho without basil, or bun bo without vegetables). 03. Vegetable oil or margarine instead of French butter. 04. A couple of thinly sliced low quality meat. That's right, I said a couple as in two and no more. You have been warned! This place no longer make good sandwiches like in the past. I always get the Coffee and Green been smoothie here....Coffee won't get you all Cracked out like Lee's. Also their pastries are pretty good as well, as far as the sandwiches, I have never tried. Service is normally good and parking can be challenging at times. read more

So it's 530pm & craving a coffee so since I'm in Garden Grove I decide to try out a bakery nearby. The reviews on yelp for Gala Bakery had me sold so I headed over to try out the pate chaud and the Vietnamese coffee. I was not disappointed - - this place is fantastic! The edibles were delicious and the coffee was sweet and strong just like I like it. In fact this probably is the best Vietnamese coffee I've had in this city. Prices were reasonable and the pastries were actually quite filling. The man that works behind the counter was very sweet also and even gave me detailed descriptions of the pastries and how to pronounce their names. Do try this place if you're craving something sweet and tasty-- you won't be disappointed either! read more

Don't bother asking any questions unless you want eye rolls and snarky repsonses...particularly from the man that works here. Their coffee is the best! I used to make Vietnamese coffee at home daily and I've only been able to get it to taste as good as Gala's once. Downgraded from years ago.. This review is for the banh mi, not the coffee. Their coffee is way too strong for me and gives me headaches :( I love drinking it, too! Anyway, I was on my way to 7leaves this morning but decided to get real breakfast instead since I never eat breakfast. I came to gala because my dad used to get it for me when I was a kid and I remember always loving it. I ordered the pork roll sandwich with pâté. Got my order fairly quickly and proceeded to the car. On my drive to work, I bit into it and it was so stale!! The bread was extremely chewy and I had to use both hands to pull it from my teeth. Ugh. Disappointed. Bread is supposed to be crunchy on the outside but still soft within. This one was chewy all around and had horrible texture. It was drenched in soy sauce as well and was overly salty for me. There were barely any cha or pork roll in it, too. I think I will stick to lees sandwiches for banh mi the next time I'm craving. read more

A little hole on a wall of a place. The sandwiches are ok, not exceptional. I wonder if they even make any of their food since the place isnt bigger than a 15x15 room. Service can be improved if the server or owner would greet guests with a simple hello. We came here wanting to try a new banh mi joint. Yelp led us to this place with a solid 4*s. My fiance and I ordered the following: one patechaud, banh mi thit nuong, banh mi xiu Mai, one black ice coffee and one mung bean with pandan drink. The verdicts are as follows: patechaud is good but expensive ($1 for a small one); banh mi both kinds are mediocre at best (the bread is chewy instead of light and crunchy. The xiu Mai is tasteless and overly soggy with sauce and barely any meat ball. Thit nuong is not really grilled pork but it's xa xiu (a different type of Chinese BBQ meat.) For drinks, I liked my mind bean pandan drink, but the black coffee my fiance ordered was more diluted and overly filled with ice, barely any coffee in it after 2-3 sips. We were highly disappointed with our experience at Gala Bakery and will unlikely to come back again... Except maybe for the Ming bean pandan drink. read more

I used to come here all the time to get cafe in the morning before work .. Their cafe Sa da is awesome because they add hazelnut to it which gives it a different taste from other Vietnamese coffees. Anyways once in a while id grab egg rolls or pate chau (chicken meat or pork meat pies) along with my coffee as a snack. They used to have such good sandwhiches! So I got the egg sandwich a few months back and it was so oily and just thrown in the bread .. It was gross ! I took a bite or two and threw it away because it wasn't eatable! Hella oily and way too much mayo, so I had an inkling for their banh mi Dac biet today (their special) which was super bomb back in like 2008 .. Anyways ordered it today and I'm super not satisfied ! It sucks the bread isn't even toasted or hot and the meat is all soggy and the mayo is just taking over the taste of the the actual banh mi! Not to mention it's over charged compared to other places. I'm not coming back ever! I thought it was just that one time (figured maybe they wer busy..and rushed it) but nope I was wrong .. They obviously don't care about how the food tastes !
