This place has really cute and fun decor, there's some seats to hang out at or to wait for your drinks if you plan to grab and go. There are two kiosk you can use in addition to the register. The staff at the register were really nice. We came here in March. When we ordered, they mentioned that they do BOGO-free from 10 am to 5 pm. Osmanthus Oolong: This tasted too sweet. I'm not sure if it's due to the milk they use or syrup, but it overpowers the tea flavor. I don't taste any tea itself. I've had other osmanthus milk tea or oolong milk tea and they were much better. Unfortunately, this drink is quite mid. I wouldn't recommend it. I think the drink would taste a lot better if they reduce the amount of sweetness or milk since their ice and sugar levels are fixed. read more

Parking can get hectic, and driving in that area is low key a nightmare in general, but there are lots of good eateries there. Astra Bean is a cute space/astronaut-themed boba shop. The shop is clean and spacious, with modern/chic esthetic. Service is also very friendly! I was welcomed the moment a staff member saw me. I ordered the creme brulee milk tea (subbed boba with tea jelly) at 30% sweetness, and it was delicious! It was creamy with a good tea flavor. I was also quite impressed with the design of the cup. I got a mango matcha drink and I thought it was kind of bland tasting. For $6-7, I would not get this drink again. Of course you would hear they're going with a space theme when you see the name of this boba shop. Oddly enough, i've been to a few boba shops with the same theme lol. Although, first impression, I really liked how clean it is with great lighting and seating! The one thing that really bumped up my review for this place was how CLEAN the restroom is. Especially with their fancy toilet that it's foot sensor? that's crazy. Definitely a top-notch bathroom cause I felt so safe in there lol. Anyways, ordering was easy, which you can just place it at the kiosk. I got the matcha jasmine oolong tea (with 30% sugar and jasmine oolong jelly) since it was most reviewed here on Yelp. It was really good! Very refreshing and the right amount of sweetness. The matcha could be bolder, but I thought it was still a nice touch to have with the drink. The Jasmine Oolong Jelly was a lot denser than I imagined, kind of like the texture of a rainbow jelly (but not as bouncy), but it was still pretty delicious! The overall flavors were pretty good for a boba drink. I was initially intrigued by their durian coffee, but their tea here is actually pretty good. We ordered from here for the first time through their website, and my husband picked up the drinks. We were looking for something different from the usual Ding Tea, Tastea, and other chain boba spots. After seeing several positive Yelp reviews, we decided to give this place a try. My husband wasn't a fan of the location because the plaza was extremely crowded, but he did mention that the shop itself had a friendly, trendy atmosphere. The staff greeted him right away, and the drink presentation was impressive. The takeout bag was a nice touch, and we were even gifted eco-friendly gloves from AnEco as part of a sustainability promotion--something we can all appreciate. As for the drinks, my husband ordered the Matcha Cloud Jasmine Milk Tea, and I ordered the Jasmine Oolong Milk Tea, both at 60% sweetness. The sweetness level was spot-on, but we were both hoping for a stronger tea flavor. I'd rate the drinks a solid 3/5. Our total came to $15.46 for two drinks, which is pretty standard these days. Overall, the customer service was excellent, and the drinks were decent. Adding a new pic to my review here after visiting this location with cousins from out of state. There was a weekend promotion going on for the new mango drinks, all $5 each. I ordered the Double Mango Eclipse Matcha. It was bad, not ordering again. There was randomly so Cheetos on top of the cheese foam, so gross. And the ice cubes in my opinion should've been blended with the drink, it wasn't smooth at all, so much about the drink I'd change. Wouldn't recommend that drink, but still a big fan of astra bean so I'd recommend trying other drinks. Service - good, the guy gave me and my cousins some free kitchen gloves with each drink order. Ambiance - my cousins and their significant others loved the space theme, and since they're a FIFA World Cup raffle going on that they were advertising, they had a banner of flags of different countries hung up - that my cousin really enjoyed quizzing herself and her boyfriend on. The Jasmine Oolong Milk Tea is very delicious and would be what I would recommended if you're a fan of Jasmine Tea. If you prefer coffee, the Golden Egg Coffee, their Vietnamese Egg coffee, could be worth trying. The coffee isn't too strong, and the egg cream on top is done well. As you've probably guessed, the store is decorated inside to fit a space themed motif, however, luckily it is not over the top. There are only a couple small tables, but it doesn't get too crowded, so you can usually grab a seat to enjoy your drink. You can order via a kiosk or in person at the counter with the friendly baristas. As of the time of this review, each order comes with a ticket for a chance to win some future drink discounts (i.e. BOGO free, free toppings, $1 off...) and a small box of biodegradable kitchen gloves. read more

Really really yummy!! Ordered the crème brûlée milk tea w/ boba 30% sweet and it was so good!! The boba is perfectly chewy, milk tea had a strong tea flavor and the crème brûlée top added a nice creaminess to the drink. Prob my favorite crème brûlée drink around the area. I've been searching for a solid crème brûlée milk tea after getting hooked on it from Machi Machi (not around here) but this place takes the cake for best crème brûlée milk tea. The inside is really cute and creatively themed. Some tables to sit and hangout as well. Bathroom is SO CLEAN. Loved it. Service was also really good and nice! They were giving away free disposable kitchen gloves today and tickets for potential to go to World Cup but ours only had free topping and BOGO drinks which was still a nice surprise. The shop had a cool, modern atmosphere and did not feel gimmicky at all. My partner and I shared 2 drinks: Oreo Eclipse Matcha Brûlée (matcha-infused custard topped with caramelized sugar and served with crunchy oreo pieces) and Crimson Dragon (red dragonfruit green tea). Even with 30% sugar, both of these drinks were way too sweet. And with less ice, the drinks still contained a lot of ice. Taste-wise, the drinks were only tolerable. Although the parking lot here seems decently sized, this plaza's shared lot is notorious for feeling tight and cramped, especially on weekends. There's two self ordering kiosks which is great to avoid wait times. Seem like a solid spot for people to hangout at as there's some tables/seats on the left. Other than that, just standing space. I was decently happy about my matcha Oreo brulee. However, I wasn't expecting the cup to be this small compared to my partner's drink. On top of that, the drink didn't look fully filled as it was topped with tons of ice even though my order had the ice less option. A bit disappointed on that end although the taste of the drink was pretty delicious. A great mix of brulee, Oreo flakes and matcha was a unique taste that's not too common in most shops. It's either one or the other but this had both. Highly recommend this drink, can see why it's one of the most popular drinks. Parking here however is a bit of a nightmare especially during peak hours. Although it's a sizeable lot, finding parking is a struggle which the amount of congestion around. Big straw, big dreams We recently stopped by on a Saturday morning and there was no wait. Parking can be rough though. Nice and clean chill spot with very nice decor. We tried the Smoky Vanilla and the Egg Coffee as is. While both drinks were flavorful and good overall, we were a little disappointed that neither came filled to the top, even without adjusting the ice level. I believe they have "happy hour" for certain deals on drinks (but I forgot which ones) but I was bummed that one of their popular drinks (osmanthus oolong) was sold out that afternoon. It was pretty nice, however I will say I thought the "chewy" topping would be similar to crystal boba pearls - instead, it was jelly (still flavorful, just unexpected). Astra Bean in Westminster is such a cute little spot. The astronaut and moon themed decor is the first thing you notice and it honestly puts you in a good mood right away. It feels fun and different without being over the top. I ordered the matcha with cheese foam the salted cheese foam coffee and the strawberry cheese drink. All of them were good but the salted cheese foam coffee was the clear winner for me. It was creamy just the right amount of sweet and super smooth. You can tell they put effort into their drinks because nothing tasted watered down or rushed. The staff was friendly and the place felt clean and cozy. Very nice boba shop in a sometimes crowded parking lot. They redid their menu which was a little disappointing as I wanted to try more pure tea options and my friends wanted the egg coffee. Osmanthus oolong: pretty solid and very strong osmanthus. Their full sugar was the perfect amount. It's like 50% sweetness at other places. Matcha jasmine oolong: the foam had a stronger matcha flavor than the drink. It was an interesting drink but you couldn't tell what tea was what. Maybe a little too much going on. Loved my first visit here but was very disappointed this second time around. They said the banana latte couldn't be done with oat milk and the only oat milk drink was the smoked vanilla latte (weird because I ordered a banana latte with oat milk my first time here). Decided to give this place a try after frequenting the same boba shops and I'm so glad we did! I have consistently been coming back for 1 specific drink that I think they do an excellent job making: -Jasmine Oolong Milk Tea w/Jasmine Tea Jelly: This drink is offered as this classic milk tea, as well as a version that includes a matcha foam if you want a slightly thicker/more indulgent drink. I was honestly blown away because I didn't expect the drink to be so fragrant. Many popular boba shops I've visited have had subpar milk teas with flavors that lean far too milky, but that was not the case at Astra. They have been consistently strong every time I've ordered this drink! It has a beautiful floral profile with the Oolong adding some extra strength. I actually think their 100% sweet is more mild than other shops but they do offer the ability to adjust sweetness (and ice level) if you'd like. The tea jelly adds some fun texture to the drink. I love the promotions they have had as well. I came during the initial "Buy any drink, get a coffee free," and was able to try a sip of my boyfriend's egg coffee. It was strong and leaned bitter so that may be a good or bad thing depending on your preference. I also came during their "Buy three drinks, get a free cyber cup" promo which is a really cute ceramic cup that can be placed in a tilted position. It comes in several colors so it's almost like unwrapping a functional blind box lol. Portion size: I love that their teas come in a taller cup and their coffees are a good standard size. It didn't feel like they skimped out on portions with my orders, and their prices were very fair compared to other shops. Their theme and packaging were also very cute. I like their space theme throughout the walls, ceiling, cups, and merch. Their bags are also high quality and resemble Aritzia branding haha. Random side note but their bathroom is also very clean and cool looking with all the marble and fancy bidet toilet. Wait times: This has fluctuated depending on the day. In the beginning, we waited maybe 5 minutes from ordering to receiving two drinks. On weekends in the afternoon, the wait has been as bad as 25 minutes but generally have been around 10-15 for the most part so it's definitely not the worst. This has been the case no matter what time in the day we visited. Parking and the shop: The parking is shared amongst many other businesses in a strip mall of Westminster so at times it can be tricky to find a spot but I have honestly never taken longer than a minute to park and it has always been on the same side as Astra (near the com tam spot). The shop I would say is small to medium sized. There are a few tables with chairs and a few seats for waiting by the tablets. You can place your order with the employee or at one of two tablets in the front. I would not recommend this spot for studying as it's kind of dimly lit and the chairs are low so it's not conducive for studying. Overall: Will definitely be back for the Jasmine Oolong Milk Tea! read more
