Jay was incredibly knowledgeable, skilled, and didn't overcharge. He responded to my Yelp message quickly and completed the repair in a timely fashion. My laptop had stopped turning on and I left it with him. After some basic diagnostics he called me and offered a couple options. I opted for him disassembling and reassembling the laptop rather than just taking the data from the laptop, to see if that would work and it did. I had a situation where my cracked screen on my Samsung Galaxy S8 phone blanked out and I was unable to see anything, literally! The only option I could think of was to visit T-Mobile (1300 N Ashland Ave) and look into any upgrades available. While visiting T-Mobile, I found that I qualified for an upgrade, but it was also informed to me that my information would be impossible to transfer from my Samsung Galaxy S8 to the upgrade. Gadget Garage was confidently endorsed to me by the T-Mobile employee as a repair shop that could fix my phone. Gadget Garage ended up being a few blocks down from T-Mobile off of Ashland Ave & Augusta Blvd. Even with evening traffic along Ashland Ave, I arrived in no time and parked within a short walking distance from Gadget Garage which was pay by the plate parking. Along with giving me the option to repair the lcd screen on my phone, Jay, the repair man also mentioned that if I wanted to get a new phone that he could transfer my data from the old phone to the new. In order to alleviate the headache of having to pick out a new phone, then return to Gadge Garage to get my data transferred to a new phone, I chose to just get the lcd screen repaired by Jay. Since I did not have a phone to be reached at, I requested for Jay to contact me via email once the repair was completed on my phone which was respected. I picked my phone up later in the day, the same day I dropped it off. And it was so hard not to smile because it appeared in better condition than before: a new screen replaced along with a screen protector. If i could give Gadget Garage 10 stars I would. This is the second time I've come here for a device repair, and both times were such reassuring, comforting, and professional experiences. Fast replies on yelp, with continuous updates as far as what stage of the process he's at/where parts are being ordered, best prices I've seen anywhere, and will get your devices good as new every time. Most recently I had an issue with my macbook pro battery, but even after he fixed it, I somehow came home broke my computer again with a 3rd party charger the next day (read: STAY AWAY FROM 3RD PARTY CHARGERS!!!) . I was scared that it was going to cost me a million dollars, but I messaged them and he told me to just bring it right back, and he fixed it again while talking me through everything going on with my computer. This review is long past due. Gadget garage was amazing with my iPhone screen repair. I dropped my phone during work and the screen was completely black. I was so worried because other phone repair places either closed early, started price quotes higher, or had iffy reviews. Gadget garage was literally just around the corner from my workplace, price was EXTREMELY affordable (I got an OLED screen replacement), and Jay responded very quickly and answered all my questions and requests thoroughly, with quotes provided in depth. When I arrived, he took a look and gave me my screen options. I came back later with everything finished very quickly (less than 30-40 minutes). He had also cleaned my dirty camera for me which had been bugging me for months! Already dropped my phone a few times since replacement and still just as good as how he left it. After 3 years of faithful performance, my smartphone battery was losing charge quickly and appeared to be bulging a bit, so I decided to get it replaced. Initially I contacted uBreakiFix (106 W Chicago Ave location) but they were completely disorganized and wanted me to jump through all sorts of hoops for a simple battery repair. I cracked my cell phone. Although it still functioned perfectly, it was frustrating to look at. I didn't have insurance, so I sent a message, and Gadget Garage quickly responded with a quote. The price sat roughly in the middle of the other places I asked, but I didn't want to pay the lowest price to fix something I use every day. It's conveniently located off Chicago Avenue, the owner was extremely friendly, and they offered a one year warranty. It also only took an hour to fix, though other places quoted me 20-30 mins. I'm only giving this review four stars because I can tell the hue/color of my phone is slightly different, and I now frequently have problems with my screen responsiveness. After a few days, I got used to the minor change in color, but I may have to take advantage of the one year warranty because the screen responsiveness can at times be frustrating. read more

Had a screen repaired here, speed, price and honesty of the owner, J, is awesome. When we had an issue later ( my girlfriend broke her screen a day after having repaired) he took care of it no problem, and added a tempered second screen to her phone, he knows his customers. Sure enough, my girlfriend broke the tempered screen as well, BUT J was the man with the plan, the tempered screen is removable (only $14), so he simply took it off ( for free) and she was able to trade her phone in, in perfect condition, saving me $80 to repair a screen we were handing in anyways.
