The 4.5 review rating on this company are legit. I've used them a few times. Every time they have identified the problem and fixed it promptly at an incredible value. The most recent problem was in Sept. 2020. I initially took my 2 year-old iPhone XS Max to the Apple store. They told me my phone was out of warranty and that my phone was not repairable. The Genius Bar guy kept asking me if I dropped my phone (as that would explain why my phone was completely dead.) I kept telling him no. (And it wasn't jailbroken.) The phone was in perfect condition. It just went completely dead and wouldn't recharge. The Apple Genius Bar "Technician" said the diagnosis shows it's not the battery and the phone "crashed" likely from being dropped. That pissed me off as I told him it hadn't been dropped, and it was only 2 years-old, looked new and cost me over a $1,000.00 I asked him, "Is this issue common?" Vague answer. I asked for my phone back and left. I drove home and figured I call Apple and have it mailed in for evaluation. But then I remembered Direct Repair on State downtown. I drove the hour in to the city immediately. The guy at DR identified the problem within about an hour and the phone was repaired for way less then the cost of a new XS Max AND I didn't lose the info on my phone that hadn't been uploaded to iCloud. Since Job's passing Apple really turned to shit. This isn't the only hassle hustle I have had with Apple. These Direct Repair guys are awesome. Go see them. Pros: - Just made everything very east and fast for my laptop upgrade (macbook pro, battery replacement and memory upgrade) - Very fast response time. Responded within 1 hour via Yelp, text, and phone call. I brought it in 2 days later due to scheduling conflicts on my end. Each day, I texted him, and he responded promptly - Very fast repair time. 2 hours max, same day. Already had all the parts. Major plus! Other companies needed to order the parts, then 2-3 day turnaround. - Gave me a quick estimate, without some song and dance. Some other companies wanted me to bring the laptop in for diagnostic first--ALL before giving a quote! - Very affordable. Honest prices. It was $150 for a battery replacement and memory upgrade. If you ask, he gives you the Yelp discount. Based on my quotes, the range was from $150-250, with a few asking for $300 - Gives real advice and doesn't upsell. Other companies tried to tell me to switch to SSD, which cost $150+ more. I am ok with this, if it made my computer faster. I asked Andrii, and he said I could (1) backup my data, then reset the hard drive, and it will be faster, or (2) backup my data, then upgrade. But he said it was not necessary, and the 16gb should do - Great location, so you can do many things while waiting for the upgrade/repair. I went and ate around the corner. Andrii texted me when it was done, and I went and picked it up. Great! Cons: - N/A Conclusion: - Very fast response via Yelp or text, same day 2-hour service, already has most parts (no need to order and wait), affordable, honest / no upselling, Yelp discount - My laptop is running much smoother and faster (less pinwheel). Okay, I was trying to clean out the charging port on my Iphone 4S because it was not connecting securely to any charger, and I must have bent some of the pins. It would not charge, even after more cleaning and trying with multiple cables. I saw this place was a short walk from my office and well-reviewed, so I bought the Yelp deal. The gentleman told me to give him 30 minutes, and I decided to have a seat and wait it out since it was very cold out. In 10 minutes he was done replacing the charging port. I was amazed. Afterwards, people I would speak to on my phone told me that they were getting a bad echo. I took it back in, and they had that fixed in 20 minutes, no charge of course. These guys are fast, they are good, and they fix mistakes quickly and without giving people a hard time. I would recommend this place to anybody; they certainly impressed me. read more

A few years ago my laptop had gotten dust under the screen - I originally tried cleaning it out myself but had trouble opening the casing and basically made the problem worse. Brought my phone to the Apple store after I got the screens fixed here because all of a sudden my phone stopped working, I'm covered under Apple care. Well since I brought my phone here first to get the screens fixed I am no longer covered under Apple care because this repair store TOOK MULTIPLE PARTS OUT OF MY PHONE. Which caused the battery to become loose, which is why my phone stopped working. After paying $300 here to get the screens fixed I had to end up buying a completely new phone. Update as of 7/17 I definitely regret not just going to the Apple store. Aside from the blueish tint, the screen sensitivity is very dodgy and inconsistent. I find myself having to go back and edit things I've typed due to the screen not picking up my touch, or having to swipe backwards/click back because the screen is too sensitive. The home key also gets stuck sometimes, which leaves me unable to unlock/use my phone, and the swipe up feature works about a quarter of the time. I've also noticed my phone's brightness doesn't get as bright as it once did. Trying to take photos using the front facing camera with flash produces grainy photos that look like they've been lit using a tv. Needless to say, I'm extremely annoyed and disappointed. Get your cracked screen fixed elsewhere. read more

We took our Mac desktop computer to the Apple Store because the computer was inoperable. Apple said that our hard drive was cashed. It would cost several hundred dollars to replace the hard drive. Long story short, but we decided to take the desk top to Direct Repair just to see how much they would charge to replace the hard drive. The guy at Direct Repair took a quick look at the computer and told us that our problem was not the hard drive and indicated that the actual problem was that the software was corrupted. I argued with him as Apple indicated that the problem was our hard drive. He explained that he tested the hard drive and it was fine and the problem was with the corrupted software. After his explanation we felt comfortable with his assessment. We had a recent backup of our computer so he wiped the computer clean, reinstalled the software and added some RAM (at my request) on our desktop for about $150. Incredibly, he did the work that same day. That was about two months ago. The computer continues to work perfectly. I would not hesitate to recommend this place...they diagnosed the problem correctly, did the work promptly, and the price was reasonable. read more

I was really happy and impressed with their service. I had a Surface Pro that needed a new battery and I couldn't find anyone to do it. But Direct Repair said they would. They asked for a credit card charge to order the parts and said the screen in 80% of the repairs gets broken and needs to be replaced so the charge included a new screen. I asked them to tell me when the parts arrived so that I could deliver the Surface. They texted me and I delivered my Pro on Monday. On Tuesday it was ready for pickup. They have a loading zone in front of their store and an alley next to them, so it was easy to park for free. Andrew said they were able to remove the screen without it breaking so they used my old screen and the repair job cost less than what I thought. These people are honest. Is it possible to give 10 stars?! If so, these guys deserve it. My aging MacBook Air had one key missing, other keys severely worn out, battery nearly fully depleted, trackpad worn out, screen hinge extremely loosey goosey. I bought all the parts online intending to replace it myself. However, I looked online for videos and the keyboard replacement instructions involved removing a million small screws -- who has time for that?! Danger! Next, I get quotes from shops (in multiple cities!) - no one wants to fix all these things for me, said repairs would be too difficult. Brought in an iPhone 6 last Friday for a screen replacement. Functionally, the screen itself worked fine though it was shattered and cosmetically didn't look good. Upon leaving came to realize that all touch capabilities of the front screen no longer worked, the screen looks great but now is effectively useless. Fast forward to today, I went back to have my phone fixed and made useful once again. The sales associate apparently replaced the screen again, though I suspect it was the same glass. Either way I don't believe the glass was the issue, I think it was not properly connected / reconnected. The sales associate instead of fixed the phone said he could put a shattered glass screen back on it (not my original one) or leave it as, but could do nothing further. Absolutely 100% dissatisfied with the quality of service and lack of customer care. Please avoid at all costs. I'd like to challenge the owner to respond and make this right, I can't really believe this is the level of business typically provided. read more

The battery on my Samsung S8 was doing what phone batteries eventually do -- lose their storage capacity. The staff here replaced the original battery and checked the phone within thirty minutes. HOWEVER, the replacement battery didn't have the much effect. The two guys didn't hesitate a minute to order another new one which they had in about two days. The replacement battery did the trick! To me, the quality of a company is really determined when things DON'T go well. It was worth it to me to walk back to their store and have the issue successfully addressed. RUDE, DISHONEST: I took my laptop there to fix after water spilled on it. I was told it got stolen during the lootings in March. The owner was very RUDE and told me condescendingly it wasn't worth much. Although to me, my data was worth a lot and it was functioning very well before the spill. Until now, I haven't been paid what his insurance paid him which I have no idea how much which means he made money from me loosing my laptop. Excellent service! Dropped my iphone with a cracked screen off without an appointment and within about 25 minutes it was ready for pick up all fixed. Definitely take advantage of the yelp check in over. I noticed in the weeks following that the proximity sensor of my iphone had stopped working (I'd put the phone up to my ear and the screen wouldn't turn dark so I'd end up muting myself and hanging up on people with my cheek). I brought my phone back in about 3 weeks later and they fixed it free of charge no questions asked. I read that proximity sensor issues are common during screen replacements so definitely check to see that yours is working before you leave the shop. This place really follows through with great service, and the price seems to be right on par other screen fixing places. Hopefully I'll never have to go back but if my phone cracks again this is the first place I'll go! read more

Used a yelp coupon here after I dropped my iPhone on the concrete, shattering the screen. Went straight there after looking on yelp (through the cracks). They were able to fix my screen in less than an hour, and the fix has held in the weeks following. I spent the 30 or so minutes wandering Walgreens and Starbucks nearby, feeling empty and strange without my phone. Kind of sad. Be aware that there is a bit of a language barrier here at times so that can complicate things. Otherwise, good quick service. Got my precious iphone back to good as new in less than an hour for less than $100. Can't ask for much more than that. read more

These guys are great. You walk in, show them the cracked screen of your iPhone 6, you pay less than you would at the Apple store, and you wait much less time, too! They said it would be a half hour wait while they fixed my phone, but it was only 15. It was $110 to fix the cracked screen, but they also had some accessories that would prevent this from happening again, and they also had a backup charger case for my trip to Italy (starting Sunday). PLUS--they gave me the $15-off Yelp deal, so that reduced the price even further! This ended up being a one stop shop for all of my phone needs. I took my Samsung Galaxy 4 to have the screen fixed. The technician informed me it would take "up to two hours" and cost $160 to repair. My phone was toast so I consented to have it repaired. The repair took less than an hour to fix. When I returned I asked why so costly? He said, "We just don't replace the glass like the previous place, ( I had it repaired in Salt Lake City) we affix the glass to the LCD screen...you will find it to be superior in performance." He was right, the quality was much better, the accuracy with on screen navigation was just like it was new. Speed of service...great! Quality of service: Great! 90 guarantee: Great! Just cracked my iPhone 4s glass :( I thought it was cheaper if I just needed the glass replaced, not the whole LCD, turns out, it's one piece and this place was BY FAR the cheapest I have found via Yelp, Craigslist, etc. and with really good reviews.
