I went here with my three friends last weekend. I got a regular manicure ($15) and was not that impressed. In fact, was rather horrified when instead of removing my existing nail polish with remover, they filed it off, leaving my nails scraped up. They buffed them afterwards but I still don't understand why they did this. The lady who was doing my nails also pinched my fingers with her long fingers quite a bit when holding them or scraping off nail polish that went out of the lines. This place is clean and modern looking. There are lots of OPI nail polishes to choose from. The seating area is pretty comfy (which is a plus, since it seems like a lot of yelpers had to wait!). I came in with an appointment and had to wait about 15 minutes before Keith (I think) started on my pedicure. I was planning on using my Optown app deal for the 20% off pedicure, but they were already offering that discount at the salon! I'm not sure if I was just lucky to come in that day or if they offer the discount all summer. So my $25 dollar basic pedicure (the "Dashing pedicure") ended up being $20. It came with a long leg massage and a hot stone massage- nice! This was my first pedicure in a really reaaalllyyy (like, REALLY) long time, so I don't know if my feet were still rough after the pedicure because Keith hadn't scrubbed it very well, or because my feet were beyond the help of a basic pedicure.... heh. read more

Scheduled an appointment to have french acrylics done, the guy said it would come out to about $25 with the 20% discount. Everyone there speaks decent English, I don't know why 1 of the reviewers said otherwise. My manicurist had no accent at all. I had to wait about 20min after arriving there on time. My nails were a nice length, so the woman doing my nails suggested that I just get a gel set done instead since it wouldn't damage the nail bed like acrylics would. She wasn't pushy, it felt more like friendly advice. It made sense, so I agreed. She paid excellent attention to detail, although there were a few imperfections (I'm comparing this to acrylics, where the manicurist wouldn't have to use a nail brush to make the neat white french nail lines. However, there is an annoying line of bubbles on my pinky finger, a few random pieces of glitter, and I can see my nail growing out underneath the white tip after less than 1 week.). I was overall happy with the result, but the amount came out to $30, which was higher than I anticipated, but this is also my first time getting gels done instead of acrylics, so I'm not familiar with how much it normally costs. Anyways, after being assured that these wouldn't chip from bowling, I decided to test it out. My right thumb nail now has a very slight chip in it, but everything else is otherwise fine. I would get this done again, but I'm not sure if I would spend over $30 on it. read more

I absolutely love this place! Been going here for years and they always treat me with a kind and friendly attitude. This is the only nail salon I know of that not only has the best prices, but does an incredible, diligent job on every person that walks through the door. The atmosphere is calm and clean. They have different types of pedicures to choose from, and they have never cut me or done poorly on my nails. I highly recommend this place!!!! read more

I asked for square toenails and she completely ignored that. Then she proceeded to cut my toe nails all in different shapes. I even asked her why some where crooked and she didn't respond. Then when I asked her to fix them, the starts tapping her nail file like she was getting impatient. Worst of all, she painted some thick layers that started spilling over to my cuticles. They tried to fix the job after, but my toe nails had already been cut far too short and the rest of the paint job was incredibly sloppy. If you're looking for a decent pedicure, go somewhere else. I don't always do acrylics, but thought I would treat myself. I had gone to G Nails for gel manicures before, so I thought I knew what I was in for. I did not have an appointment and would have understood if I needed to return at a later time. The lady at the counter was rushed and harried. She told me that she could do my nails and began rushing me through the process. I come to find out that there are 4 people scheduled for pedicures and she is rushing the clock with my nails so that she can fulfill their appointment. Because of her rushing she ran over my pinky finger with the drill bit. My blood got on her hand and the machinery. No stopping to clean up or sanitize...just kept rushing through. I got chunks of acrylic and globs of gel polish on my hands and underneath the extensions that were applied. The area between the nail and the nail bed were filed so roughly I have abrasions.The nail extensions fitted on my fingers are narrower than my nail bed and feel uncomfortable. I am seriously contemplating how long I can stand this before I can have them removed. The woman who was doing my nails left to begin working on the pedicure appointments and took her tool caddy with her. When my nails were done and it was time to pay, the gentleman ringing me up told me next time I come to pay cash...despite the obvious indications that say they accept credit cards...he said they prefer cash. I'm really sad that this was such a bad experience. I'm hoping that this visit was only crazy because it was a busy day. I remember them being nice and personable and executing nails well. Today just seemed like a cattle call and rushing caused so many errors. The reaction to drawing blood scares me. read more

Since I was going to be in the area, I yelped a nail salon and this was the 2nd or 3rd to come up. Scrolled through real fast and didnt see any low ratings, so gave it a shot! Totally worth it from the time you step foot inside. Excellent ambiance! And great massage for a pedicure. All worth the $22! And a great price to the surrounding areas! Wow! I made a same day appointment at G-nails today for 11am (on a Friday) and got in right on time. Tina did my nails and was so nice to talk to. Not only that but she did an AMAZING job in my nails. I really wanted Dip with extensions and showed her a picture ombré pink and white. I am a native San Franciscan, in which there are tons of awesome nail salon to choose from, but even though I am up here in Davis 3 days a week (for school...GO AGGS) I find myself waiting until I arrive in Davis to go get my nails and waxing done at G-Nails & Spa! I absolutely LOVE the service and the owners and the staff are very welcoming and are all very professional! Tina is awesome and she takes quality time with your nails to ensure that they are immaculate. The shop is definitely the best above the rest because it is the newest and cleanest of them all. They have more than enough pedi chairs which are very comfortable. If you are second guessing yourself about going to G-Nails, you are truly missing out! Today I went here for the first time because of the high rating and the number of reviews. The positive things I will say are that the receptionist was very kind and helpful and I did have a very nice manicure by the time I left. However, the Devil is in the details. The woman who did my nails barely said a word to me and the whole time her and another associate were gossiping and it just seemed very unprofessional. She also checked her phone multiple times as she got text messages. For some reason the establishment smelled of vomit and when I was told to go wash my hands there was a cockroach in the sink. One of the best nail salons in Davis. After having a horrible experience at a salon near my work I decided to go here. They were able to fix my gel nails. The gal listened to me and exactly what I wanted. She made my nails natural and took her time to make them flawless. My only complaint is the amount of time I had to wait for my appointment. I typically have to wait at least 15 minutes after my appointment time to get seated. However, if you are a perfectionist and like your manicurists to pay attention to the little details (like I do), then go here! I love this place. They always do an amazing job on my pedicures, which last for weeks and weeks without chipping or getting ragged on the edges. Polish is quality -- plenty of OPI choices, which is the brand I prefer. So many colors!!! Massages are always super awesome, even with the basic pedi. And they can accommodate groups, which is so nice, because I have three daughters, and we like to go together when we go -- it's a great girls' day out. in fact, I am getting ready to make an appointment for another pedicure right now. I came in for my first time on a whim to get acrylics and Diem(first nail station) did them for me. She did an amazing job and with the 20% discount, they were only $20! I definitely recommend her and this salon. I went back a week later for a polish change/file and Diem was busy so another woman helped me...she was terrible! I have to admit, I'm extremely picky when it comes to where I get my nails done. I"m paranoid about people using proper cleaning practices and it drives me nuts if my nails are uneven or if they chip the very next day. That being said, G-Nails never fails to meet all my expectations. You can see that they sanitize all of their tools and the footbaths regularly and the entire salon is very clean and well maintained. On top of that, their staff is extremely friendly and they can almost always fit you in, even if you don't have an appointment! I've been going to G-Nails for 4 years now and it's still my favorite nail salon in Davis. I always walk away with absolutely PERFECTLY shaped nails and I swear their pedicure lasts twice as long as any that I've gotten anywhere else in Davis (even with just regular polish)! Plus, G-Nails offers tons of services that prevent damage to your nails! I always get the vitamin gel base coat, and my nails actually get stronger every time I get new gels! They also apparently have a special kind of acrylic powder that doesn't destroy your nails like the normal kind does. Oh, and they're the only place in Davis that has this by the way! Anyway, it's a great salon and I'm going to be sad when I graduate and have to find somewhere that's just as good when I move away! read more

Absolutely my favorite place to go! I had a bad experience at a different nail salon, and G-Nails & Spa completely fixed my nails and made them exactly what I wanted. I am extremely particular about how I like my acrylic nails done, and Tina amazed me with her technique. I drive over 45 minutes to Davis just so I can get my nails done here. Decided to try a new place. I am 9 months pregnant and I went here to get a pedicure. It was raining and I only had rain boots with me. I asked for disposable flip flops and they refused to give me any stating I would slip and fall. I told them my car I literally across their store and I'll be fine. They said no. I asked "would you rather me walk barefoot outside" and they actually said "yes". Super humiliating and rude. I will never come back here again. read more

I live in the Bay Area and regularly visit Davis on the weekends. I refuse to go to another nail salon unless I absolutely have to. Tina always leaves my nails looking absolutely flawless and they are so thorough with their pedicures. I like going early Saturday mornings before they get too busy and I rarely have to wait. They stop to make sure you're satisfied with the work. I have never seen another nail tech pay as much attention to detail as these guys. Amazing work each time! read more

I've been here a few times and always had a good experience but my most recent visit was different. I waited over an hour when I had scheduled an appointment which to me isn't a big deal because I had time and the man there apologized and thanked me for waiting. I got a gel manicure on my real nails. If you want a marble design I would suggest going somewhere else. It seemed like they didn't know how to do it which I was surprised considering how popular the marble design is. Also I asked for an almond shape but didn't get it. My nails were a lot longer before she cut them so it was doable. I tried to communicate how I wanted it to look but she didn't really understand what I meant. I'm not super picky or upset because I still like the colors but I am a bit disappointed they didn't know how to do the design. read more

Really nice pedicure here today. It wasn't crowded, the pedi had lots of little perks like a stone treatment on my legs, hot towels, salt scrub, etc. All for 20 bucks. Best inexpensive nail salon in Davis, so happy it opened a few months ago. I've gotten my nails done at 4 or 5 of the other places in town and this salon is so much nicer, cleaner and more friendly. What an amazing place. I went on Friday for a manicure, and was back three days later for a pedicure because they did such a nice job. And the pedicure blew me away...20 bucks (I think they're having a discount on services now) for a super long and awesome leg and foot massage...and some nail painting. I forgot what I was there for, the massage was that long and good. That's the only thing to be aware of; it's not an express nail salon. If you just want some paint on your toes and to be on your way, you might want to let them know ahead of time. The only bummer was that I wasn't put under their uv drying light long enough and my toe polish got smushed. That's fine..a good excuse to go back for another massage. read more

Last time I went, I did not get to have my appointment with the lady I made the appointment with, which made ma little frustrated. Similarly, the other person who is new did not do a good job, and for a girl who loves her acrylic nails I am now taking them off!
