I can't believe I have not reviewed this ship yet. I've been going there for at least two years! The shop is run by two sisters. They are both lovely people and very professional. I make my appointments in advance and they are always on time. I have gone to Tiena for gel, manicures, gel, pedicures, and root touchups for my hair. My husband also gets regular haircuts by Devon. The thing thar sets them apart from everyone else is quality. They genuinely care about their customers. I have had recurring problems with ingrown toenails for my entire life. Tiena convinced me to just let her handle them. All this meant was regular pedicures where she did the shaping. No, she didn't perform surgery or anything, it was just simply about making sure the nail was the right shape so it didn't grow into my toe. I trusted her and I stopped messing with them myself. Leave it to a professional! I have not had ingrowns for two years now. What a difference! I was also a ichronic nailbiter. OMG my fingers were ugly stumps. Tiena told me that if I let her give me manicures for a few months, it would make me stop biting my nails. And she was absolutely right. I no longer bite my nails-- and I no longer need the manicures to keep them out of my mouth! (i'm not a fussy girl who wears a lot of nail polish, so regular manicures don't really work for my schedule) They recently moved to a new location. It's a beautiful spacious building downtown at G St. and fifth. They've also completely refurnished everything with new comfy chairs and a super comfy wash station! It's a great place! There's a parking garage around the corner, but it's pretty easy to find street parking. Highest recommendation !
This review is definitely long overdue. The ladies at Instyle are really sweet and pleasant to work with. It's clean and cozy, definitely a place to go to when you want to catch up with a friend or two, or if you just want to relax alone and get pampered. My sister and I have both been in there numerous times for haircuts from Devon (Devonne?)....sorry if I completely butchered the spelling of your name. She's knowledgeable, and knows what looks best with your hair texture. Bring her a photo(s) or just discuss what kind of style you're looking for, and she'll work her magic and give you a refreshing new look. If she's not available, Tiana can also whip up a nice hairstyle for you. I've never had my hair done by her, but I've seen her working on other customers' hair and nails; they always seem extremely content. Now, on to the nails... Patricia is the technician that worked on my nails. Between hand washing, sanitizing, and staying warm in front of a heater...my hands get crazy dry. Needless to say, my hands/nails are always in need of major TLC. Patricia is extremely attentive. She'll take her time to work on your nails, and make them look beautiful. Last spring, when I had my nails done by her, she asked if I wanted any designs on them. I think I nodded and said "sure!" I didn't know what I was getting myself into, but I trusted her, and she surprised me by painting these beautiful flowers on my nails and toenails (I've included pix of those here too). It made me so happy to look at them :) So for my birthday this year, I decided that I wanted some flowers on my nails again. She took the creative liberty to paint her signature flowers on each of my nails. They look so dainty and cute! - even my sister, and my brother in law were impressed by her designs. I love my birthday nails! Thanks Patricia! Will be back for your other design ideas :) I highly recommend this hidden gem for everything that you need to get done from head to toe. Just make your appointment(s) in advance, bring a friend or go alone, and be prepare to day dream and relax in there!
Nu, Who previously worked at Davis nails in North Davis is now currently working at InStyle hair and nails! I was so happy to have found that she is at this new location because I have been going to her for years. Even though I moved out to San Francisco I still drive back monthly to get my eyebrows done by her. She is the epitome of great customer service!! In addition to the amazing eyebrow waxing done by Nu, I had a great experience getting a gel manicure at the salon. The price is reasonable, it is only $25! And they turned out great! If you're looking for a reasonably price nail salon or waxing spot definitely check out InStyle hair and nails. I'm so glad to have found this place! It is modern looking and very clean and sanitary. However, I would recommend making an appointment before walking in to the salon as it does seem very busy and small.
I LOVE my new acrylic dip ombré blue nails. Should put to Patricia for a great shape and color recommendation. Also perfect pedi, this shop always delivers.
This salon tops all others. I have gone to in style for 7 years. I regularly get a pedicure and eyelashes done every 3 weeks. I have also had my hair and fingernails done! The entire staff is so kind, professional and engaging. They listen to what you want and do that exactly. I havevtried other salons in the past but have never been satisfied. I will not go anywhere else! Definitely the best!
I got my acrylics removed from this place because I wanted to let my nails get a rest from always getting a manicure. It was close to my place so I decided to give it a try. The lady who helped me was very rough when taking the acrylic nails off. There was a time where I had to yank my hand out because she jammed her nail into my cuticle very badly. I asked to get a top coat so that my nails don't look as bad but she insisted on just letting my nails breathe. I agreed, however she didn't even make sure my nails were cut evenly. Because of the quality of service I got just for removing my nails, I gave this place 3 stars.
they don't even clear my previous color clean and they just do the new color. I don't understand, if it is running for time, I can for sure make another appointment when it is not busy. the lady who did my nails take my hand like it is plastic, she scrub it with no care and she painted the new color unevenly, when I pointed out about the unevenness, she just paint another layer which makes it even worse. i have no patient to ask her to redo my nails when there are more customers coming and ask for help. but to summary, JUST DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON.

I wasn't going to leave a review but holy wow I was so impressed that I just have to. This isnt my first time coming to instyle, but Ive never experienced a service such as this. I got a manicure pedicure with acrylic dip. It was $65 and worth every penny. The lady who took care of me took an hour and a half to make sure every single part of my manicure was absolutely perfect. The shape fits my nails perfectly, and it's been eight days and not a single chip. It doesn't even look grown out yet at all! I've never had such a good experience and if I wasn't a broke college student I would've tipped her a lot more than I was able to. I'm so sad I moved back to SoCal and I will never get to experience such a great service again but thank you instyle!
Had an appointment with Devon at 5pm on a Monday. I was the last client there. She asked me what I wanted, I showed her inspo pics, she asked for clarifications, gave feedback, and delivered. I almost fell asleep because of how light her handiwork was. She really took her time despite almost closing. The appointment lasted about 45 mins. I was charged $55 (very affordable for the amount of hair she cut off, plus blow dry and straighten). I used to pay about $80 at Scissorhands for "just okay" haircuts... but as an Asian girly, I trust my Asian hairstylists. Plus it's very decent pricing. This is my second time getting my haircut with Devon and I will absolutely keep coming back. My hair looks so much healthier. read more
This salon is very good. It's clean, has great staff, and awesome haircuts. It's also very guy friendly while having nails service and pedis and manis. The ladies are very friendly and understanding. They are very quick. And if you don't want to wait, you can create an appointment ahead of time. They are very good at keeping to the appointed timeslots. Both genders and all ages are welcomed. Got my nails done here today and they look great! Walked in at noon and no one else was there so I got seated right away. All the ladies there are very sweet and friendly. My nail tech (I think she said her name is Patricia) made some casual conversation with me while working and it was overall very relaxing. The shop and the tools used looked very clean and neat. I would definitely come back in the future for another manicure. :) read more

I had a very pleasant visit and my acrylic nails are still 100% intact after 3 weeks (pictured: new nails). My only complaint is that they made my thumb nail look too big (I didn't notice until later). I'll definitely come back but I will take more notice to how they size & file my nails. read more

If you're looking for a place that can cut Asian male's hair, look no more - Devon and Tiana? know how to cut it. $15 for a haircut which is around the same price for Great Clips and Supercuts. I think it's pretty reasonable and I'll definitely be going back. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE My nails look so cute and the lady who did them was so sweet :) she did them super fast and the massage was great. It was $30 for gel nails and the fancy polish I chose so actually it's $25 for a gel manicure. read more
