I've never been so happy with a set of acrylics! I usually do gel-x because I love having perfectly uniform shape, but couldn't find a salon in Davis that does it. I heard that Phoebe does great acrylic work, so I booked an appointment with her. She was so easy and fun to talk to! She was great at offering advice and even better at providing me with a nice, natural manicure. I think I've found my to-go nail place in Davis and will definitely be back every time I need my nails done. It's also such a good sign that they have so many loyal returning customers. read more

I have given this salon so many tries but today was the last straw. After being assured the color I chose would look like the sample, it was not even close. When I asked about it, I was told I was being difficult. The larger problem was that my nails looked awful. Bumpy polish, nail polish's in my cuticles and all around the nails and skin. I could have done a better job. I really resent being told by the store owner that it is fine if I just go somewhere else. Not a great way to do business, especially with a customer who has given the salon a solid try, at least 6 times. read more

Best in Davis by far! All the girls at this salon are so friendly, but Yen is by far the best! I can tell most of their clients are repeat customers. In fact, I was there for a pedicure and 3 ladies at the manicure booths were commenting how they all had an appointment at the same time 3 weeks prior! This just shows how loyal their customers are. I have always called to schedule an appointment but the same day or next but the can always fit me in right away which is lovely! I got the Collagen pedicure last time which smelled amazing and was very relaxing. Yen recommended it based on the scent alone and she was right, definitely worth it, my feet were so soft after! I had a foot injury (sprained ankle and foot) and she was very attentive! They have lots of color polish options and the technicians are very talented with designs for manicures as well from what I've seen (I use gel strips on my hands but get my toes done!). They have upgrades for a variety of pedicure options to fit in every budget. Overall highly recommend! read more

I am so bummed to leave this review. I have been coming here for a while and never had any issues till recently. Unfortunately when I went in for a pedicure, the lady dug into my nail and cut too deep. It looked like she tried to prevent an ingrown toenail or pulled something out. 3 days later, my toe is hurting and is swollen red. From my knowledge manicurists are NOT suppose work on ingrown toe nails, only trim toenails and that's not what she did! ONLY A PODIATRIST ARE ALLOWED TO WORK ON INGROWN TOENAILS AND REMOVE CHUNKS OF NAILS. It makes me question if these employees even follow The Board and Cosmetology practices! Now I have to make a Dr appointment to make sure my toe is not infected and hope I don't have ingrown toenail problems in the future! I am upset because if you are correctly educated or licensed you would not be doing these things to customers!! SO BEWARE WHEN GETTING A PEDICURE. read more

1 star for doing the service requested. However they were unnecessary rough with my nails. I had acrylics which needed to be removed as I wanted a regular manicure. I had the older man work on my nails; and he was so rude about it. At first I thought he was just looking at the acrylics and suddenly he peeled back my acrylic taking the top of my pinky nail along with it. He then tried to use an acrylic tip and was roughly trying to pop them off. I audibly mentioned that it hurt multiple times. Eventually he soaked them; then once again went to use the tip and tore my ring finger nail. Filing them down wasn't any better; and he kept burning my finger even after he asked if it was too hot. Now my fingers hurt and I am left having to redo my manicure at home. read more

I've been going to Fan Nails for over a year and a half now and have decided they are my favorite nail salon in Davis! I get gel and acrylic nails done by mostly Phoebe, but anytime I've had them done by other nail techs, I'm equally as happy. I've gotten nail designs for holidays like Halloween and Valentine's Day, and they were so so so good (I'm notoriously bad for taking photos of my nails, but trust me when I say these techs know what they're doing!). I love walking in and being greeted each time -- I never feel out of place or like I'm interrupting their work. They listen to what you want and make adjustments as necessary, which is very sweet of them. I've been to other nails salons where they make a fuss if you change your mind (in a reasonable amount of time), but Fan Nails truly wants you to love your nails and leave a happy customer. I'm picky about my French tips and always try to let them know what I want, and I'm never unhappy. They have a good selection of colors and pedicure types to choose from. My favorite part is how long lasting my nails always are. My acrylic nails have NEVER ONCE broken off, and the longest I've had them was 6 weeks! Even the gel on my nails (which I like to pick off when I'm bored) haven't come off until like the end of week 3, which is wild. I recommend this salon to anyone who's looking for a positive, quality nail salon experience. They've given me water from time to time, oh and once Thai tea, which I thought was super sweet! I hate giving such a bad review but this place ruined my nails to the point that I've had breakage so bad it's bled, damaged nails that I hope aren't permanent, and I haven't been able to paint or keep my nails at even a medium length for MONTHS. I got my nails done five months ago I thoroughly read the reviews for this place before going, as I've had "meh" experiences at other salons in Davis. I saw they could do designs so I went in with the expectation that they would be able to handle a simple design with one or two lines on each nail and a nude color. I heard dip powder was better for the health of your nails so that's what I went in for. The man that did my nails was very upset about the design I picked and apparently was at the end of his shift so he started my nails and then handed me off to a younger man who shakily did the design. The lines were squiggly and he redid it a few times. I told him it was fine, because I could tell my nails were ruined from the chunky nail polish that was applied before the design even started. The lady that checked me out saw my nails and stopped what she was doing to try to redo my nails. I think my nails were redone somewhere around 3-5 times and they were still chunky, too thick, and the design was ugly. I had to reshape my nails at home because it wasn't the shape I asked for. They gave me a discount for the bad design but it was still $60. Five months later and my nails have never been more brittle and damaged. I'm applying nail oil every day hoping my nails stop breaking and I might be able to paint my nails again one day. I don't like to speak ill of a local business but I would not recommend this place at all and I wish I had never come here. It was an awful experience from the moment I walked through the door and now 5 months later with still damaged nails. read more

I've been going to this place for years and have always been more or less happy with the service. Today's pedicure, which was fancy pedicure for $50, was done very poorly. The foot massage was short, the finished nails didn't look neat and the polish was applied very sloppy. Had to redo it at home. It's sad to see the place losing its quality. read more

Spontaneously wandered in to avoid studying and actually had such a pleasant experience :-) I didn't make an appointment so I waited a little but that wasn't an issue. The shop has a calm and classy vibe! They had a huge screen playing relaxing and aesthetic baking videos hehe. My first time going here was last month and it was great. I had a French pedicure done. So I decided to come back to get my nails done before my trip. Today, not so much, Linda's manicure cleaning and trimming of my cuticles was really messy and so was my nail polish. She also cut my thumb. I wanted square or straight French pedicure but Annie insisted curve was cute. Maybe she didn't want to redo her work that she showed me after completing one foot. If that was the case, why not ask me after one toe or before you began? Giving 2 stars because Annie did do a great job on the French pedicure and they both had nice customer service. Removing 3 stars because I wasn't asked if I wanted straight or curved French and my manicure was terrible. There were even spots where it wasn't painted. I guess you can't get what you want here. I tipped them 20% too, but now I don't feel like the service I received was worth it. Also Linda didn't care to check on my manicure afterwards. read more

First time getting my nails done in over a decade. My friends wanted to treat me out for my birthday. I opted to get a full set acrylic with chrome. Everything was going well up until the end. I'll get to that in a minute. When I first walked in, everyone just kind of stared at me until one lady asked what I came in for. I told her what I wanted and that I was waiting for two of my friends who also had an appointment. Once my friends arrived, we were seated. It was all an awkward dance because of the language barrier. We got seated and one of my friends and I had to wait a while for Phoebe to arrive. One of the guys worked on my other friend's nails. He was friendly and interactive. I know nothing about nails but from the beginning process, it seemed like it was going smoothly. Phoebe was talking on her AirPod the entire time. There were a few moments that I flinched because the grinder seemed to cut me. I thought it was nothing at first until a few hours after the service, some of the edges of my nails hurt. I also noticed the smallest cut on my thumb; but we all know the smallest cuts hurt the most! Before Phoebe added the acrylic, etc., I really enjoyed the shape she had going. I asked for almond and it was a nice almond shape. However, throughout the process and reshaping, the almond shape became a little wonky. After the polish was applied, I noticed some minor imperfections with it (the polish wasn't even). From far, it doesn't look terrible. It does make me want to get my nails done again. But perhaps I'll try another place. My friends paid $60 for my service alone. read more
