If i could give a -1 I would. I went in today for a simple mani. What a disappointment! The woman who did my mani was rough and the polish application was unprofessional. But the worst part is how dirty the manicure station was. Also, she pulled out the implements from her apron. This gave me concern for the implements not being sterilized. After using them she then gave it a quick wipe with alcohol, which is not following Board requirements. Also, the nail file and sponge buffer was pulled out her apron and appeared to be previously used. Needless to say I will not return to this location. For those who want to know the Board's requirements for implements sterilization: Section 979. Disinfecting Non-Electrical Instruments and Equipment (a) Before use upon a client, all non-electrical tools that can be disinfected, excluding shears, shall be disinfected in the following sequential manner: (1) Remove all visible debris. (2) Clean with soap or detergent and water. (3) Completely dry tools with a new, clean paper towel. (4) Then totally immerse in an EPA-registered disinfectant with demonstrated bactericidal, fungicidal, and virucidal activity, used according to manufacturer's instructions. (5) Licensees or students shall wear protective gloves or use tongs when removing tools from the disinfectant. (b) The disinfectant solutions specified in subdivision (a) shall: (1) Remain covered at all times. (2) Be changed according to the manufacturer's instructions or when it is cloudy or contains debris. (c) All tools used on a client or soiled in any manner shall be placed in a container labeled 'Dirty', 'Soiled', or 'Contaminated'. (d) All disinfected tools shall be stored in a clean, covered place which is labeled 'Clean' or 'Disinfected'. I brought my girlfriend to get a mani and pedi here. I took a seat in the reception despite not being greeted or offered a seat, bored out of my mind I kept observing the workers and the surroundings. I noticed a so called Tony was doing nails on a lady at his station and got up and started doing my girlfriend's nails simultaneously. I thought that was poor customer service, not giving the customer undivided attention but maybe they were short staffed (they weren't.) I noticed that he would use the same files in between multiple clients, my girlfriend included. I started observing the other technicians and saw them go through multiple clients and never once clean, sanitize, their stations, and most importantly I never saw them change the buffers, or sanding belts on their dremels! Over hearing the conversations amongst the other technicians with their clients, all the technicians kept pushing their clients into doing/getting a different look despite their clients constant repeating their desires. Perhaps it's the language barrier but at the end of the day your work speaks for yourself right? Well after they finished doing my girlfriend's nails she showed me and told me they had cut her pretty bad on two of her fingers, slightly hurt on the rest of her fingers. Being that she is overly kind and timid,she didn't say anything to the technicians or to myself until after the fact. I'm aware of the safety and health standards because I am OSHA 30 certified, and my sister is a licensed nail technician who I helped study for her exam. The toes were not symmetrical, they were chunky and uneven. I hope that this isn't a daily occurrence but ladies and gentlemen if you do the slightest research on the safety standards and health codes you will realize they are violating many! I understand the quality will not always be perfect but the effort doesn't feel present. To top it off she was charged $150 with a $5 dollar discount for being cut and hurt multiple times. Start supporting your independent nail technicians people, you will receive higher quality work, and better customer service. Take my words with a grain of salt, do your own research, go to an independent nail tech and see the difference for yourselves. read more

Two acrylic sets for me and my friend. She also got a plain pedicure. In my head it's supposed to be $35 for the manicure sets. And another $35 for the pedicure. On the phone I asked what the price was for acrylic full set he says $25. I ask about the regular pedicure he says $30. When he started putting the fake nails on my real nail he glued them on by a 1/2 centimeter... I thought that didn't look stable and I'm used to at least a full centimeter on my nail but let him continue. I was happy to see my friend treat herself for THE FIRST TIME EVER at a nail salon and she's in her early 50s. A simple pedicure and a simple acrylic set. When we were done a woman said the total was $90. And the guy who did my nails and was on the phone with me corrected her to $120.... I didn't like that but you know how they are with creating their own rules and pushing you to get designs or whatever. So we gave them $130 for all of it... I got home and went to close a window right away. Two nails on my right hand broke off!! It HURT really bad. Usually my nails are tougher than that so I was immediately upset about how he glued the fake nails on. I drove over right away to have him fix it and show him his karma for over pricing us. On May 23, my daughter and I both got gel manicures and pedicures here. We spent just under $200. My nails began lifting within a couple of days. I returned and explained, and they tried to blame me by saying that I was picking it. It was a french manicure, and you could clearly see that several nails had lifted all the way to the center. They tried to convince me to let them "fix" them, but I explained that bacteria and moisture was underneath them, so they needed to be redone. They argued, blamed me, and reluctantly did them again. The lady hurried through, not even letting them sit under the light to cure properly. Within a couple of days, they were lifting AGAIN. I called on June 4 and spoke with Tony. I started by asking how long a gel manicure would last and he said 3 - 4 weeks. Then I explained that I had mine done, and redone, and it had only been 12 days since the original manicure, and the second set had already started lifting a few days ago. It hadn't even been two weeks, and already two manicures had failed. My daughter's had lifted too, but she lives out of town and had to have them redone there. Tony proceeded to tell me that I have oil in my nails and sometimes this happens, but they'd already redone them once, and would not do it again. I asked for a refund and he said their policy is no refunds. I asked for the manager, and I was told they were out of town for a month. I could call back then. I asked Tony if he was OK charging customers $200 for a product that failed like this, and he said yes. He argued, blamed me, and then reluctantly said to come in again and he would look at them. I'm not wasting anymore time with this. They clearly are OK treating their customers in this manner, and I don't want to have them redone just to lift again in a couple of days. With no refund, I am just out the $200, which is appalling to me. Please consider this before going and having the same thing happen to you. Lesson learned on my part. I'll be choosing a different salon that values their customers and stands behind their work. It's a shame that people operate their business this way, but they do. read more

Unfortunately Tom was on vacation so they recommended Tony to do my ombré nails. WORST NAIL TECH EVER. At some point while doing my nails he even realized that anything he would try to do to fix my nails was not working. He would try to play it off saying "it's okay, I'll fix later" yet no fixing was done. He over filed them to try and correct the uneven lines and even left dents in the nails. I was so, so disappointed in the services received here. My sister in law and myself came in and we were told it would be around a 25 minute wait, which we were okay with. The lady who helped us told us to have a seat in the manicure area, she didn't leave us any samples, or let us know we could pick a color. We patiently waited and after 5-10 minutes we noticed the samples on the wall, and we helped ourselves to the color sets on the wall to start to look for our colors. One of the ladies began to speak in her native language and one of the pedicure ladies turned around to look at us, like we had committed a crime. So we put back the samples where we got them and noticed some other samples on the wall and brought them back with us where we were seated and the same lady that made the comment on her native language finally said in English "excuse me what are you doing?", my sister in law said "just looking at the sample colors" then they all proceeded to talk in their native language and then at this point they all stopped and stared at us like we had done something wrong. Then one of the ladies said a comment in English to one of her customers that she was helping and they both looked at us and laughed.... I'm bilingual myself and know the first thing about business etiquette and using language that customers will not be able to understand. If I happen to say something in my language I'll translate so they understand I wasn't speaking about them, or translate the nature of our conversation. Long story short, we both left the samples where we were seated and walked out of that place. We felt such humiliated and embarrassed that I will NEVER step foot here. We made a 10 min drive to Davis and found a nice spot with very kind people, that spoke their native language but can see and figure it was about the work and material and not about the customers. Someone had made a reference to this place before about race and I really can't help but honestly feel the same way, because the patrons before us did not receive that same treatment. read more

Mine and my mothers nails came out beautiful! I've been to so many nail salons, and I have to say, this is the best experience I've had so far! I notice some of the reviews are bad, but I honestly think it depends on the nail tech you get! Some are better than others, and Tom is definitely one of the good ones!
