when I first got in, all I had asked for was a a simple manicure and pedicure without gel and they just kept trying to bombard me with questions saying like "oh your nails need some strengthener liquid" and I was like no because they're just trying to charge me more money and as they continued the service, I realized they kept adding all this extra stuff without asking me what type of nail package I wanted and I think it started to come together that they just were adding a bunch of unnecessary services I did not ask for. For example, they used this dipping powder that I never asked for, but in the end, she kept drilling it off anyway with this little drill so it was like what was the point of using the powder anyway and she was just adding like this foot mask and hot stones and I realize like they giving me either the most expensive package and they're just not telling me or I don't know and it took them like almost 2 hours and 30 minutes for a simple French tip mind you I have the shortest nails. At the end of my service I went to use the bathroom while my dad paid and they charged him $150 for a simple French short nail manicure and pedicure. The price was insane. I honestly think I got scammed, but never going back there. I feel they should be more transparent with their customers about their pricing before just surprising them at the end of their service. read more

The gal who did my gel manicure was incredibly nice. The spa is clean and comfortable. However, I asked for a basic gel manicure. When they went to charge me, she said it cost $60. I pay $35 for a gel manicure in San Francisco that lasts 4 weeks. 5 days later, it began chipping. I will say, I came to the salon with my nails in bad shape, so I think the manicurist gave me a super manicure. However, it would've been nice to be asked and also it's chipped not even a full week in. read more

I'll take partial blame as I did not ask for prices before I began service. I requested a fill and chrome on my acrylic nails. The nail tech yen was really nice. First she decided to give me dip but attempted to only use in on the upper part of my name where I need the fill. Although that sounds like a good idea in theory, it was not. It became in even. I trusted the process. I showed her the ruggedness right before she polished. At this point her appointment came in and she started to rush. She applied more dip and rebuffed. But it didn't do such a great job. When it came to polish she tried to level it out with polish. And the end result is this. Pricing was not posted for fills only full sets. Full set pricing for dip with nail tips was 60$. They said fills were 5$ less than a full set?? Chrome cost was 15$. They charged me 70$ for a fill and chrome. I asked for a discount. Family-owned and run salon with wonderful and friendly staff. They have an enormous color collection, and the salon is bright and clean. There are a lot of services to choose from and they are competitively priced. All the nail technicians are super sweet, friendly, and skilled at their craft. My family was on road trip, me and my daughter decided to get a manicure and pedicure since we're waiting for the Pho to be opened. I got a manicure, the lady was doing my cuticles had cut two of my fingers bleeding, just kept bleeding, she hurry grab some kind of oil and use the white towels and tried to stop my bleeding. I had not been to Myland Nails & Spa in about 5 years, and this was my first time at their new location. The space is bright, open, and tranquil. I love the relaxing spa music playing, along with beautiful nature scenes, on the TV screen. Ricky, the owner's dog, is super cute and welcomed us along with Myland. My mom, aunt, and I were then pampered like Queens for the next 2 hours. They took their time with us, and we felt like we got the royal treatment. I appreciated how I could really relax and just be present in the moment here. Allen and Yvonne did a phenomenal job on my manicure/pedicure. They made sure I was completely satisfied and continued to work on my nails until I was. I felt extremely cared for in their hands. Cindy took care of my aunt, and was very personal with her, and all of us. She made sure my aunt was very well tended to. I don't know the name of the woman that did my mom's nails, but she was also super sweet, and even gave her a nice neck and arm massage. We loved it here, and not only will we be back, but next time we will bring our other family and friends with us. Really disappointed. I went in for a pedicure as a treat and it was rushed, sloppy, and incomplete. There was no massage, she didn't scrub my feet, and didn't polish the nails well. The nail technician was swapped out halfway during my appointment, and I only got one coat of polish on one foot, and I'm pretty sure the gel didn't even have time to cure properly. She charged for gel removal and there was gel only on one nail. I asked about the massage that's included with the service and she said they were "too busy" to do it. Waste of $60 for a subpar gel pedicure. Take your business elsewhere. Won't be returning. read more

Quite possibly the worst manicure I've ever had. Arrived. They told us they could get us in, but there was only one person working. She phoned some other employees and they showed up, but it took over 30 minutes. She removed my gel polish, but did not cut or trim my cuticles. She painted my nails, but the shape is crooked, and the polish is clumpy, and it doesn't cover my whole nail. After she finished painting she did not put cuticle oil on, put lotion on my arms, or put alcohol swab over the gel to help it dry. She charged me $40 which is reasonable for a gel manicure, but she basically just did a color change on me. Will never be coming back here again. My sister was also very disappointed, and they are very overpriced. Poor service. read more

I love coming here every two weeks to have the deluxe manicure and pedicure. Walkins allowed or call to schedule. They recently upgraded all their massage chairs and workstations -- looks nice. The staff are pleasant and energetic ; they play relaxing music to create a peaceful atmosphere. I like the paraffin treatment on my hands and feet. My feet look so good I could be a hand and foot model. They offer a huge selection of nail technology and colors -- I don't do color but I can observe ladies getting color and they comment how much they love the selection. You have a high tech massage chair to enjoy during pedicure, and human provided neck and head massage post pedicure. They use square for credit card payment. Overall highly recommend. Around the corner are great lunch and coffee shops to visit before or after your visit. read more

Found a new nail/ wax spot in Davis! I came here after receiving poor, rude service at Ara Spa when I was trying to get an eyebrow wax. I was greeted upon entrance and then taken right to the wax room and Cindy was the nice woman who did my eyebrows and she SLAYEDDDD!! I have super thick eyebrows that grow out every two weeks and she also did my upper lip and she was fast and honestly painless. My eyes naturally water especially doing the lower part of my eyebrows but she waxed them so quick i didn't even have a chance to register the pain lol. Im definitely going to come back and bring my sister to get mani/ pedi and eyebrow waxes! The entire salon of ladies were complementing me and genuinely made me feel so good and I feel like it was the perfect environment and vibes you want to be in when receiving and paying for beauty services. Worst manicure I've ever gotten! The tech left my nails crooked with jagged edges. Then applied the polish unevenly, sometimes not even covering the whole nail. It dried looking so sloppy. I don't usually go to this salon, but I figured I would try somewhere new for a fill this time. I don't HATE this place, but I wouldn't have this as my first choice. The first issue was when I called the salon asking about walk-in availabilities, and they said yes. They DIDN'T tell me about how they were super packed that day and barely had time for me-- instead, I waited around an extra hour to get my fill because they were backed up 3 clients and had more coming in. Basically I waited half an hour to be attended to, and after my nails were filed, I sat with half-done nails for nearly 40 mins, waiting. Don't get me wrong, I understand the appointments have higher priority than walk-ins, but if she didn't have time for walk-ins, I'd rather she tell me ahead of time so I can find another salon or make an appointment... Customer service was nice, super friendly and kind. They offer sweet tea, hot tea, or ice water while you get your nails done, which is thoughtful, but I really suggest that they don't serve it while they're filing your nails (the nail dust floating in the air and clippings flinging everywhere... not very appetizing). Otherwise great staff. I got a gel fill which is okay. They look smooth from afar but are strangely bumpy when I touch it. Not a big deal but I've never ran into this problem anywhere else. Also, they didn't file my natural nail down nor really glue it properly under the acrylic so there's definitely separation between my nail and the acrylic. Overall, okay. I have been getting my nails done since I was 16 years old and a couple years ago I learned about dip powder and haven't gone back to anything else. Dip powder has made my nails stronger then ever. MyLan is so wonderful and really takes her time to make my nails perfect and just what I want. The short version: Pros: I went with a friend with out a reservation and they saw us immediately My friend was very happy with her nails Not a bad price It's in a converted house, pretty cute. Cons: Brusk service Improper sanitization techniques Strong odors, but that's pretty typical. My hands feel dried out despite getting the "spa manicure" which included paraffin wax. The color is chipped and uneven. I'm very picky about my nails, I try to keep them really healthy and I'm always excited when I get them all pretty long and healthy and close to the Same length. I don't hate this place, and I don't think any particular damage was done. But I do feel like I wasted my money. There were a couple of problematic things, most importantly, they don't sanitize their tools between each guest. Maybe it was a particularly busy day, but all tools used on me came out of tubs marked "soiled" and went back into the same tubs, and back into the storage drawers to be used again. Mylan did my nails and she was a bit brusk. Not rude, but brusk. She didn't really explain what she was doing, sometimes she jerked my hands around a little and when I made requests, like, no cuticle trim, she just kind of, grunted. We were thinking interrupted every time someone came in or needed to pay, and then at the end, she didn't let my nails dry enough between coats, and they got all weird and wrinkly, so she threw another coat of paint over them, of a different brand, saying it was higher quality. But they stayed tacky for hours, because it had been applied to quickly, and even when the top dried, the base coats were still wet. Experience: I've been to Myland several times so this is not a first experience review. I arrived around 9am and didn't realize they open at 930am. I came early because this place is small and gets filled up fast and wait time can exceed 45min. To kill time I walked to the farmers market and came back to the salon around 940am and there was a couple getting pedicures and a lady getting her mani. Great.So I hade to wait at least 30min before another nail technician could see me. I noticed all 3 people had been offered some type of light beverage, but I wasn't offered anything. I wouldn't have accepted anyways because nails and nail dust just flies everywhere and you just never know. Tools: My nail technician placed the tools back in a clear plastic container and put them back under her workstation. So not sure how clean the tools were and didn't see anyone either clean or toss the used tools. Nail technician: Didn't catch her name but she was very quick and i like how my nails turned out. Highly recommend this salon! I came in for shellac but changed to a full set and am soo pleased with the result. Myland did a beautiful stiletto nail that was shaped perfectly with the length not too short and not too long. She was very careful and precise, and made sure I was happy with the end result. I really appreciate the fact that she cared about making sure I got the results I wanted compared to other salons that just want to speed you along for their next customer. She really cared about making sure every aspect of it was how I wanted it.. shape/length/color/cuticles. I typically drive all the way out to West Sac just to get my nails done because of how disappointed I've been with other Davis salons, but this place has changed my mind! I took a chance on this nail shop because I was short on time. The first thing I noticed was the jar that He dipped my nails in looked very unsanitary. I told myself, there's no way he could be reusing acetone from a previous client. I continued anyways. As the nail tech continued, I let them know several times that my nails were uneven, in addition the nails weren't smooth. I asked for my cuticles to be cut, even thou this is usually included with the service. A $5 charge was applied. I was also told that a $5 charge will be applied to remove the previous powder. I also noticed every tool that was being used was reused from a drawer. I didn't see any glass jars with disinfect solution. As I was getting my nails done, I noticed the tubs were not cleaned after another nail tech completed service for another client. As I was wrapping up, the next client came in and the male nail tech grabbed the same acetone jar he used on me with someone else. I am disgusted and will not be returning. Although the service was $55, I still gave a $5 tip when it was not deserved. It breaks my heart writing such a review for a small business owner but honestly the service was unacceptable.
