Loved the intimate seating and how bright it airy the cafe is. The service was quick and friendly and the coffee and pastry were delightful. I loved how my drink (the lechera) tasted. It was not overly sweet and wasn't not overly espresso-y.

Regrettably, I cannot stand behind Futuro's drinks. By now, I've tried the cajeta (goat milk caramel and maldon sea salt), cafe de olla (piloncillo, cinnamon, anise, citrus), and ahuacate (avocado, lime, maldon sea salt), but I didn't love any of them. While the ingredients compositions are intriguing, I didn't actually like any drink that much. The cajeta was neither sweet or savory enough, and the cafe de olla was weak and not sweet. The ahuacate wasn't my favorite either, but it was indeed a refreshing drink with the lime cutting through the sweetness. However, the sea salt pistachio black sesame cookie sourced from a friend of the business Augustina Fekete's weekend menu, which is reportedly gluten free on weekends (but not widely advertised, if this is your dietary restriction make sure to still ask!)

Heard amazing things about Futuro and the presentation - edible flowers and sparkling water, was even greeted by what appeared to be a regular who stated that we found the best coffee shop in town. Futuro definitely did not meet these now high expectations. We were not greeted but were told, "I'll be with you when I can" by the woman behind the counter. She was the sole employee around 8:15am on a Wednesday so I get being tied up and not having any backup but the language was really off putting. She did offer a sample of the horchata when I asked but she was unwilling to provide any recommendations or input. They also only had one dairy free option - oat milk which she claimed was a "high grade barista line" but it was loaded with sugar and seed oils when I read the ingredients. We enjoyed the drinks though they were on the sweet side. I was really hoping for a better experience. There are other coffee shops with Latinx culture and flavors that I'd rather go to.

Absolutely a visually beautiful, modern, artistic place with Mexican inspired drinks and currently serving baked goods from Ghita (Romanian culture based with a love of French pastry and named in honor of the baker's father.) This review is based on our most recent trips but we have been going for at least 7-8 years and fell in love right away. This is a well over due review! The minute you step in you can feel the artistic vibes. They are always featuring artwork and usually of someone local or Mexican inspired art. The service is always excellent. The baristas are very knowledgeable. They always have great coffees from a variety of single origin areas. A lot of their cold brews come from Sey coffee. I'm a super big fan of their cold brews. We have also dabbled in their lattes which are delicious as well. One of my all time favorites the matcha con agua de coco. Not only is it tasty but beautifully presented. I definitely recommend anything on their drink list, from the matcha, to the coffee, to the teas. All great and carefully crafted! It's definitely a top coffee spot for us and we are always recommending it visitors and locals who have never tried it. The newest baked goods from Ghita are hitting soooo good. We have had the Romanian cake and most recently the chocolate beet cake and roasted kabocha squash cake which are amazing! I look forward to more treats from her! Overall an amazing experience! You won't regret it! You'll keep going back for more. If you are in the downtown area come check them out. Such a lovely place ! We will keep being regulars .

One of the best matchas that I've had in Arizona! I got the Mas matcha latte (without the pocky) and my friend got a hojicha latte and we both loved our drinks. Although there was quite a wait for our drinks, it was worth it! The staff were super friendly and pleasant, the interior was cool, and the drinks were great. We would definitely come back!

FUTURO is a modern and minimalistic coffee shop doubling as an art gallery/creative space. This spot is located in the Phoenix area where street parking will be your best bet. Inside, they have a sleek minimalistic interior with some cool art up on display. They have about 4-5 tables for seating inside with a couple tables outside the shop as well. For their menu, they have thoughtfully crafted coffee, matcha, and tea drinks. I got the MAS (matcha con crema de vanilla) and it had a unique flavor profile with a good amount of roast. Overall, I am glad I got the chance to check them out. They are definitely one of the more unique and art-forward coffee shops I have been to. All of the staff here are very friendly and welcoming. Stop by to enjoy some art and drinks!

I had been hearing a lot of mixed things about Futuro, so I decided to finally stop by and check it out for myself. I came with my cousin and a friend and both of them had a similar experience as me. The shop itself is super minimal. All white, very design-forward. Personally, I didn't find it cozy or welcoming. It's not the kind of place I'd want to sit in and hang out for a while. Now the drinks: they were good. The menu is Mexican-inspired with unique house-made flavors, which I definitely appreciated. You can tell they put effort into what they're serving. But while the drinks were good, the overall experience just didn't feel warm or inviting. Worth trying if you're curious or into clean, modern aesthetics. But if you're someone who looks for warmth and comfort in your coffee shop experience, this may not be it. It's also good if you want to grab and go!

Ordered: Mas (~$9): matcha with vanilla crema Cajeta (~$7): goat milk caramel and maldon sea salt Aya's take: FUTURO makes the list for top 10 cafes & coffee shops I've ever been to! It has that indoor-outdoor feel by somehow connecting the interior and architecture with the outside surroundings. They're also playing very calming music and have art throughout. It's very minimalistic and almost doubles as an art gallery. I tried 2 drinks, the Cajeta and Mas. Both were exceptional. Made with some of the best espresso (SEY Coffee) and matcha (Kettl), respectively - I knew I was in for a treat. Being from NYC and having tried both original locations of SEY & Kettl, FUTURO has taken exceptional ingredients and transformed them into lattes that are extraordinary. The flavors were distinctive, balanced, and earthy. I'm jealous of the people in Arizona who have access to this spot! This is an absolute must try.

I drive by the place daily as I live down the road and always see people here. It's very trendy vibes. I walked in and said it was my first time she recommended a lot of things and I went with what she said was most popular the "MAR" which is an americano with vanilla bean crème. Came out to $7. I think the crème was really good and the espresso was kinda tangy for my liking. Overall nice place.

Can't start my morning without a coffee and heard good things about Futuro so we checked it out! The cafe is very simplistic, modern, and creative with the art pieces around. I thought that was super neat to have mixed an art gallery with a coffee shop. I ordered the Cafe de Olla and that was definitely one of the best lattes I've had in a while! It was made perfectly; the flavors, good quality espresso, etc. My partner ordered the matcha and wished it was a bit sweeter, but overall still a great quality matcha. If you're in the area you should definitely check them out! The service was excellent and they answered all the questions I had about the menu.

Creative menu and excellent espresso. The baristas were friendly and took their time to make each drink. The interior was very clean (literally and aesthetically) so it's a nice spot to hang out. I ordered an iced moca (stoneground cacao) and throughly enjoyed it. The cacao had a nice bitterness to it and I appreciated the smaller cup, making the drink more espresso forward. If you plan on heading to FUTURO for the first time, there is (metered?) street parking on Garfield and the entrance door is on the left side.

First off, the actual building it is in is called Palabra, which is the salon inside of the building. But also inside the same building is Futuro the coffee shop. There's also a photoroom for photoshoots. You can explore the building (it's in the shape of a horseshoe). You can see the bakery where they make their baked goods for the coffee shop, the coffee bar, and the salon. I knocked a star because parking is slim to none. There's some spots along the front entrance but not very many. It's a very intriguing coffee shop. It has art along one side of the coffee bar but the other side is empty (they should add more). They have spots on that side where you can sit with a laptop and study, so that's nice. I had the "Cajeta" espresso which is espresso with caramel made from cream from goat milk, not cow, wow - a first for me, with sea salt. It was delightful. Very rich, and thick so it was worth the $6. I loved it. I will be back to try the marzipan infused espresso. Also, had a slice of their Blue Corn Lavender bread for $5. It's like corn bread but not as grainy and less sweet, with a zing of lavender. I think if it was more sweet or came with honey like cornbread does then I would have liked it more. It's also better to pair it with coffee than to eat it alone (the edges are really tough). read more

Currently, there are 8 parking spots in the back of the building. It's the kind where the spots are diagonal and you have to drive in and then reverse back into the street bc there's no room to turn your car around. When I first walked in, all I could notice was how white and sleek everything was - the furniture, seats, walls, etc. And also the fact that you first see the salon before you get to the coffee shop in the back. Currently, there are 6 or so individual tables? But the tables are the super artsy/unique kind so they look like the number 7 from its side profile and then when you sit down facing it, it's just this small narrow white paint covered metal rectangle. There's one large glass table on the other side of the ordering area. They have several espresso drinks you can choose from - the avg cost of everything is probably higher than what you would normally pay at any other coffee shop. I got a regular espresso for $3.50. The barista was super nice and chill and when I went on a Saturday morning (9:30ish), there was only one other car parked in the parking lot and two other people drinking coffee at the large table. read more

If you wanna come here for coffee, pencil in an extra 30 minutes into your schedule, cuz that's how long it will take to get your order. Also, we ordered two different coffees with different milks - but the cups aren't labeled so we have no idea which is which. That's fun little game to play when you're lactose intolerant! Aside from the wait time and weird vibe, the coffee is good. But I will not be returning. read more

Futuro is a great minimalist cafe/art gallery/hair salon at the heart of Roosevelt Row in Phoenix. It has super minimalistic interior. Clean and white. They have very interesting variety in coffee flavors. The one I had that was recommended from the server was called Mazapan. It is the one with peanut candy. It tasted amazing. I loved the slight nutty flavor the iced coffee had. The flavor was rich at the same time refreshing. I am now very curious about other flavors... Overall, it's a pretty unique place! FUTURO was recommended to us, and I knew had had to check it out, once I learned they serve heart coffee,from Portland Oregon! Being a Portland native, I miss my pacific NW coffee! FUTURO is a unique place, relaxing vibe, serving up coffee, pastries, and breakfast items that are absolutely amazing! I also learned that my FAVORITE, Phoenix local bread maker, Heft, is baking his magical breads, right here at FUTURO! They take every step to perfect their brew, starting with their machines, and skill! One of a kind shop with some unusual coffee flavors and an interesting art-gallery vibe. Had a barista walk through the menu, and I wish I could remember which drinks we ordered but they were both amazing. For us it was about trying something new, and Futuro delivered. Not a coffee shop I'd head to work on my laptop or something, but to visit for a super tasty java and visit with some friends it was top notch. read more

Its a very trendy spot and the lines are long. They weat masks and there is social distancing.... Sort of. Its a small space so if its a group, theyre kinda close to eachother and the next person in line. I got an horchata and it was really good. I also ordered a tamal and i dont know the other thing. It was like a blue corn tostada thing. Both were high end quality take out and and very flavorful. I wasnt expecting that out of a coffee shop. I gave this place 4 star because of the social distancing AND there is a hair salon in it. Granted its in a separate room, but its an open room and that hair can get tracked into the eating area. :/ I guess im just used to how n strict California is. A few steps away is an open (indoor) market. There were several vendors outside too. Carve out a bit of time to hang. I unfortunately was on a schedule back to CA and the line at the coffee shop ate up my time. Anyhow... Ill be back to check this place out again to update my review. read more

New coffee spot in the neighborhood. Located in a multi-use building (there's also a hair studio and a small art gallery there). They have a clean, minimalist aesthetic, which I love. The barista was super friend and took time to explain the menu. I ordered the Cáscara, which is a tea brewed from the fruit of the coffee bean. I ordered mine iced with sparkling water. Very refreshing on that hot day! It reminded me of something between a tamarind and a hibiscus tea. I love the concept of this place! Will definite return. read more

This is a minimalistic, futuristic space we popped into while waiting for our table at Matt's big breakfast. So glad we stumbled in here! We entered through a sliding glass door to a very white, clean shop. I ordered the salted caramel latte with their house made caramel and sea salt flakes sprinkled on top - unreal! I would recommend to anyone who likes salted caramel. My boyfriend got the macchiato his was also great. Much stronger than mine and served in a smaller terra-cotta cup. The vibes here are great and the staff was helpful and friendly read more

A staple place for coffee in Phoenix. FUTURO's ambiance and quality product keeps me coming back time over time over the past few years My favorite is the tonico (espresso and tonic), which delivers a creamy, yet refreshing taste for those hot PHX summers Heads up - this is a trendy spot and while they have a lot of great options on their menu, this is not a spot for sugary coffee flavored milk. read more

Was looking forward to stopping in here, but it ended up really falling short of expectations! Yes, it's hip and minimalist... but unfortunately accompanied by an extremely pretentious attitude from the staff (no eye contact, took 15 minutes to bring out our pre-made pastry with no other customers) The space-age-y music was so loud and pulsing that we moved seats multiple times to find a spot we could hear each other speak. Normally I wouldn't care about all that if the coffee was good! But it was a cold and rainy day, so I ordered a delicious looking seasonal latte. When it finally came out, it was iced, which the description said nothing of. I tried to very politely ask if it was possible to have the drink without ice, and the woman said in a "um, duh?" voice: this flavor combination is always traditionally served iced. How would I know that? It was freezing cold in the coffee shop and she made it very clear a hot version wasn't an option, so we quickly downed our drinks and got out of there to find a different coffee shop. I sound like an old grouch but I promise the two of us are in our twenties and enjoy most places! read more

I was SO looking forward to the Lechera latte. I was expecting something sweet and creamy. Instead, I got an undrinkable, sour, bitter latte that literally made me gag. I really didn't like the interior of the place either. The tables were tiny and it didn't feel like a place I would want to spend any extended time in. Very disappointing all around. read more

Oh my!!!!! This place is so delicious! We tried café olla, cajeta and americano. 2 tamales one was rajas and one was verde and a pastry with rose frosting and key lime with short bread. This place really exceeded my expectations! I am full Mexican and my favorite tamales are my mothers. But these are seriously so packed with amazing flavor. I have to say that out of the two, I loved the verde tamal the most. The cheese in the rajas tamal made it taste so amazing as well!! The coffee was extremely great. Was not watered down at all..The pastry was sincerely out of this world good. I cannot say enough great things about this place... I cannot wait to bring my parents here. Overall, loved my experience. The staff was friendly. Parking is normal hectic parking in the city lol but love this place. Also loved that they played Mexican music for a while! read more

While exploring the streets of downtown Phoenix, a friend and I were in need of a caffeine boost. I came across FUTURO thanks to my Yelp community. The PALABRA building is super modern and is a shared space with an art gallery, hair salon, and FUTURO coffee shop. We appreciated that the drink menu had some unique Latin-inspired options to choose from. Unfortunately, they were out of the ingredients to make the first two requested drinks (piloncillo for the Cafe de Olla and raw honey for the Abeja). Nonetheless, we searched for our back up to the back up options and went with a glass of Jamaica infused juice and a Cajeta Latte. The juice was fresh and not too bitter, while the latte was not overly "gamey" from the goat-milk caramel and paired perfectly with the hint of sea salt. My friend and I were able to enjoy our drinks while catching up under under a disco ball. A good time had by all (under the ball) in the end. read more

This place is extremely cool looking. The design and aesthetics are very well thought through. It seems like the coffee isn't as thought through. The drinks we ordered were fine, but nothing super special. The staff was helpful and extremely patient. I just have to share that I saw a large group of high schoolers come in and not order anything, just asking for waters. The girl at the counter was still really friendly and it definitely made me respect this place even more. read more

I work for hospice and was seeing patients at the WestWard Ho. Their coffee is good! The little area is also very cute. Upon arrival we walked in and three employees simply starred at us without saying hello or even giving us a smile. It made the whole experience very awkward. We asked for the coffee to go, and they handed us our drinks without lids. This was also very confusing. When we asked for lids and straws the employee gave a "sigh" as she handed us our lids. I personally would not go out of my way to stop by again. read more

Walked in to Palabras to Futuro to check out the artisan drinks they had curated. I purchased the jamaica (hibiscus) and it was EVERYTHING! I don't enjoy sweet drink and love when they taste natural. Futuro is an appropriate name because that is when you'll get your coffee, far, far in the futuro. On a Sunday morning with nobody in front of us in line and three people behind the counter, it took 25 minutes to get 2 coffees and a tea. I guess that is the norm at this place because when the drinks were finally handed to us there was no "Thank you for waiting." The space is interesting and mod, but when it comes down to it, I was there for coffee (which was decent.) All in all there are better experiences in downtown. read more

The ambiance, drinks, and service were all great! There is an entrance to Lola Coffee from Roosevelt and another from the back near parking spaces. There is a restroom near the back entrance, and the start to the line to place an order is right near the front entrance. I saw in one of the comfy chairs while I waited for my former student to arrive. At that point, we moved to a regular table and then went and ordered drinks. She ordered a coffee, and I ordered a lemonade. We both enjoyed our drinks which were ready very quickly. There were smaller and larger tables, and there were also countertops along with business cards and marketing items at the back of the room on a thin table. Lola Coffee began with humble beginnings going back to 1992 with a cart, then Lux Coffee, and eventually Lola Coffee downtown. Now, there is even a second Lola Coffee location in Arcadia near 40th Street and Indian School. Today, they serve coffee, pastries, and breakfast. The Downtown Phoenix location hours are weekdays from 6:30 AM to 7 PM and weekends from 7 AM to 7 PM. We eventually went online to order takeout. Waited over an hour in total to get our food. I don't know why the owner didn't direct us to order takeout instead since he wasn't seating anyone anymore. We never would have been seated because the owner never said anything to us. Service is horrible, and the owner did nothing to make up for his mistake. I will say that the other workers were all very nice and did their best. It must be tough working for a boss who makes mistakes like these. He just disappeared for a while when his workers were busting their butts in the kitchen and front of house. The food was good, so I'll give this place two stars instead of one.

I don't believe the server knew how to handle the less than formal style of the group I was with, but they did not turn us away and provided phenomenal service. The drinks had elegant garnish, and were well made. The most complicated might have been a vodka soda, but the additional touch was nice. For a start we ordered the oysters, which was kept everyone stuck between being nice and fair, and wanting to take all for themselves. We also ordered the octupus which was very good. For my main, I had the salmom rillete. Well made and pesented - I only thought to take pictures after I ate. Our group was never rushed for the bill and we enjoyed a beautiful evening sitting on their porch. I am looking forward to going back more "prepared" and enjoying their seabass or beef bourguignon.

I chose to sit at the bar, which turned out to be the best decision. I tried the oysters, the escargot, and the burnt Madeleine dessert--each one was absolutely delicious. But the highlight of my experience was the bartender. He was young, charismatic, and made such great conversation. As a visitor, he made me feel genuinely welcome, which really elevated the entire experience. I believe his name was John C. (though for some reason I thought it was Liam!). Either way, he was fantastic. The gimlet he made incredible and expresso martini even better. I would highly recommend this restaurant--definitely sit at the bar if you can!

Furturo is quickly becoming one of my favorite coffee shops. It's not your typical coffee shop that's overdecorated and crammed with people on their laptops - but rather an artistic and minimalistic space that serves a handful of beverages and does them with excellence. The owner Jorge hides behind a fake Yelp account called "Get R." Which could only mean "Get revenge" where he seeks out the businesses of those who write 1 star reviews reflecting actual experiences .
