We loved the pan fried pork bao with soup inside, the (barely) spicy and non-spicy pork soup dumplings, pork and chive dumplings, potstickers and cute little spicy wontons w/chili oil. The giant crab/pork/shrimp soup dumpling was so fun to eat; it comes w/a straw so you can drink the broth inside. My favorite entrees were the Crab Lo Mein (not only delicious but also a very instagrammable presentation!) and the sizzling beef. Came in to this spot based upon the reviews and wanting soup and dumplings. The place isn't very large seating maybe 50-60. I sat at the bar and ordered. I started with the crispy chicken dumplings - they came out quickly - they had the texture of spring rolls and were served with the bright red sweet/sour sauce. Nothing memorable about them; not much flavor from the meat or sauce. The Shrimp wonton and truffle soup was next. It took over 45 minutes for it to arrive, and not one server came to check on me. Sorry but that is way too long for soup. I have eaten won ton noodle soup about a 100+ times in my life, and as any connoisseur will tell you it comes down to the broth. This was 'meh' - think slightly better than chicken stock - and very disappointing. The truffle might have added something but there was hardly a hint of it. Went here for lunch yesterday. Had to check out what the hype was about. Everything was presented beautifully. Taste was ok. We had the tea duck, peking duck potsticker, crab lo mein, pan fried dumplings, sticky rice sui mai, dong po pork belly, and the giant soup dumpling. They need more wait staff. My bf and I love the mini hot pots here! This is our second time and we can confirm that Fusion Dumpling will be our go-to when we crave Szechuan hot pot. The hot pots are called "mini", but the portion size is actually enough for two people! We wanted two different broths so we ordered two pots. We also wanted to try their pan fried dumplings, so we took leftovers home. The pan fried dumplings are juicy on the inside and crispy on the bottom, exactly how it should be! We don't drink much, but we noticed they offer a wide selection of spirits. It took them a while to seat us and no one greeted us immediately, but that's okay. They seemed very busy and a little short staffed. They made it up with wonderful and friendly service during our dine in. The employees were working hard to service everyone. Ambiance is really cool! The Explosive Chicken was the best I've had. Crispy chili and popcorn chicken with just the right amount of pepper for the "numbing effect." This was our second visit to Fusion Dumpling; we visited last year as well. The food is delicious! The premises is clean and inviting. The bathrooms are downstairs and are clean. The staff is friendly and attentive. To communicate your order you use dry erase markers on the menus. I forgot to take a picture of all of the food items we ordered. Very standard Chinese food in sf. We ordered a pan fried soup bao, Wuhan dry noodles, and black pepper beef with sizzling plate. The bao was not bad, but wish it were more juicy on the inside, I'm not sure what the authentic version of Wuhan dry noodles is supposed to taste like so I don't have a comparison, but my friend mentioned that this one is a lot more "wet" than it should be, the sizzling plate was good but extremely small in portion. Pan fried pork soup bao it was delicious but be careful when you eat because there was a little soup inside you don't want to burn your mouth. The sticky rice shumai was okay. Created by the owners of Chong Qing Xiao Mien, the menu here is a creative take on Northern China flavors. We had the pork XLB, the Shanghai beancurd leaf rolls, and the Shanghai sticky rice siumai. Although the food was enjoyable, it was hardly impressive given the number of dumplings places now found throughout the Bay Area. The XLBs had delectable broth, but the pork/cabbage stuffing inside, though generous, was a bit dense and dry for my liking (probably should have used fattier pork). The beancurd leaf rolls (aka vegetarian goose) were delicate and tasty, and the portion was reasonable for the price. The sticky rice siu mais were also a bit dry. Presentation was interesting as each steamed dishes came on a bright red painted rack which the bamboo steamer sat on, and they provided an appropriate red spoon to eat the XLB with. A pot of good quality tea, at $6 for a pot, was a lot more reasonable than $12 a pot at Z&Y across the street. read more

So we came here to try the viral crab noodles, and left a bit underwhelmed. The presentation itself was awesome and Instagram worthy, but realistically when it came to taste I have to say it was average. Maybe we should have ordered the hairy crab version but it seemed way too pricy for a casual lunch. The duck blood soup was a bit unexpected as well, they use quite a bit of white pepper in the soup so just a far warning on that.
