My work ordered papa noodle for us. I got the crispy tofu and wings. I've only walked by the restaurant so I can't fully express what the ambiance is but everytime we order from papa noodle the utensils come with toothpicks and hand wipes which is so nice! Overall, good flavor, they don't joke on their spices, and it's filling and I would recommend to try for lunch.
It's a perfect spot for my lunch break catch ups with friends now. They have nice short menu and kiosk helps to make an order faster. The space is nice, not too crowded on Monday lunch time. There are a couple of tables outside too. Food comes pretty fast - my favorite is Chefs Americano beef noodles - delicious tender meat crispy from outside on top of perfectly cooked noodles with a crunch from carrots and freshness from cilantro. Amazing hearty bowl. Recommend it!
We stopped by this restaurant for lunch while visiting San Francisco and I liked the cute street market feel of the space. Upon entering, we encountered a touch screen to order and the process was easy and intuitive. I ordered a papa noodle and it was delivered to my seat by a server. The only issue within this is that I had to wave down the server because when he came out with my meal he went to a few tables before he found me. The food was tasty and seemed fresh. The complimentary candies as well as self serve condiments and water was a nice touch. This is a good lunch spot in the heart of the city.
One of my favorite lunch spots in FiDi! The noodles are so chewy and have a great QQ texture. Can't go wrong with the classic Papa Noodle. The service is quick and easy and there are complementary candies and dental floss to pick up when leaving.
This place is close to our hotel so we decided to try it. I got the dry noodle (with chicken) and my husband got the beef noodle soup. Both are really delicious and the meat is super tender. Food is super filling too. You order at the iPad and wait for your food. They have some tables outside so it makes this place dog friendly! Does get windy on the sidewalk so bundle up!

The beef in the braised beef noodle soup was also very tender. We particularly enjoyed the Chinese sauerkraut as it added a great touch to the meal.

Very tucked away spot in fidi but the service and ambiance was great! The space is very thoughtful and they have tons of nice touches like free candy for customers, a tv playing food videos, utensils and water (& hot water too!!) and takeout boxes laid out for easy grabbing, and also a cool pac man machine inside. My friend and I got the braised beef noodle soup which was around $19 but a pretty hefty portion. The soup was a bit too salty/spicy for me but the beef flavor was great and I liked the chewiness/flavor of the noodles. The pickles and bok choy were also yummy touches. I do wish the cilantro stems weren't included though as they were unpleasant to eat. Overall this was a comforting meal and a nice spot for a casual dinner if in the area!

I still miss the chicken salad sandwich, but I recently happened upon this casual Chinese zhijiang-style noodle house. With an understandably hip vibe given the populace, it wasn't a traditional-looking spot, but the food tasted authentic. The menu consists primarily of five noodle dishes of which customers pick one and order to customize on one of two kiosks. Naturally I was slow it was my first time, and the youngsters behind me managed to control their heavy sighs since they were more focused on their phones. Since it was the namesake dish, I decided on the $16.88 Papa Noodle with Pork, which they delivered in less than ten minutes. It looked appetizing with all the fresh vegetables (bean sprouts, shredded carrot and cucumber, pickled cabbage) surrounding the pork sauce and topped with chopped scallion. For extra crunch, I had them add spicy peanuts for an extra dollar (Photo 8). The handmade noodles were hidden underneath. Once tossed together, the flavors were quite satisfying (Photo 7). A nice noodle find. Papa Noodle is a hidden gem in downtown San Francisco serving delicious food and fun vibes. The interior is decorated with Chinese memorabilia, vintage arcade games, and best of all (for us Chinese) a candy section with free candy from our childhood. There is loud music playing different genres from classic rock to Chinese rap and a huge TV screen playing YouTube videos. Staff are friendly and welcoming. You have to order with them first before grabbing a table. We came on a weekend during lunch time when it was packed and only waited about 10 minutes for a table to clear. The dishes are rich in ingredients and have so much depth of flavor. We had the Vegan Loma Noodle (fried tofu) and the Shrimp Cold Noodle with Spicy Peanuts. The handmade noodles are so chewy. The portions are quite large and very worth it for the price. I highly recommend everyone come support this business. I can't wait to go back and try their other dishes.
stopped by on a friday around 5. immediately took in the ambiance. the space was so carefully curated and each piece felt so intentional, creating a fun and engaging atmosphere. there were 2 kiosks to order and we ordered the tofu tots and the vegan loma noodle. we sat down and there were lots of different seating options. they had 3 free to play games, a giant projector playing some travel food tv show, and a self serve station with candies, floss, and condiments. each table also had chili oil and extra spicy chili oil. the noodles were bouncy and flavorful and the tofu were some of the best i have had in sf!! service was quick and friendly! definitely will be back!
4.5 stars! I was very happy with Papa Noodle. I love zhajiang mien and not many places in SF make it. Papa Noodle does it well--my only gripe was I felt that the portion could've been bigger! I often take food home but here, I left a little and thought about taking it but then did not think the amount left warranted a takeout container. It's quick and many people do takeout here versus sitting down. It fills up during weekday lunch rushes, but the line moves quickly. I ordered Pork Papa Noodle and Walovi, which is Chinese herbal tea. It was cool and refreshing. The Papa Noodle had tender meat, not too fatty. It was very fragrant, as my old coworker who I dined with said. The noodles had good texture, consistency, and chewiness. I liked the amount of vegetables and meat they gave, as well as sides of vinegar and chili oil you could add. It's very clean inside and I love the decor and art. Very fun. Will be back!

At the front, they even provide mints and flossers for after the meal. what we got: beef noodle soup with thin rice noodles (10/10 yums): WOW. the rice noodles were really chewy even though they were thin. I was pretty impressed by the broth as well. The meat was super tender and fatty, which was definitely a plus! loma noodle (10/10 yums): this is the vegan option dry noodle! loved it as it wasn't too salty. there is an option to get it spicy or not spicy! super tofu tots (10/10 yums): must get appetizer to share! super crispy and flavored really well. The beef americano noodles are always my go to! It's a sweet and savory light blend with bouncy noodles, mixed with a ton of spinach and carrots. The tofu tots are a must try as well! They make it so flavorful and it comes out very fresh. There's usually a good amount of open seating during lunch. Staff is always friendly! If you do sit there, they automatically charge you a small fee. The dishes are on the pricier side compared to other lunch options in the area, so keep that in mind. Would recommend to get the main dish and loved the vibe of sitting down and seeing the interactive decor. best: Papa noodle Tofu tots alright: Chef's americano Beef noodle Papa noodle w/ pork was very filling and tasted fresh. I didn't add much chili oil due to my spice tolerance but the mix of veg, noodles and pork made everything meld well together. I would avoid chicken due to the risk of it being dry for this dish. Tofu tots were actually really crunchy and tasty beef noodle wasnt bad but not as filling as papa noodle original nor is there enough beef to justify the price read more

Oh my god, I've lived in this area for so long and I didn't know about this freaking amazing spot and just had the most flavorful meal and and they have vegan options. Stumbled to this place after listening to some bluegrass music. I ordered the vegan Loma noddle dish, it is self served - you order electronically. The place is spacious, high ceilings, adorable pins for sale, good music, they offer water and hot water. Very clean. Each table has soy sauce, vinegar, super spicy chilli oil & chili oil. I went to town with the chill oil. The food was brought to us very quickly with colorful presentation but the and I had to look it up ir try to date one of the chefts at the establishment to slipp the beans of the recipe of this mind blowing Chinese scallion oil sauce that each dish is served with. My oh goodness!! What is in this sauce because it is ridiculously good !! I still floating in food heaven after this finger licking meal. I'm definitely will be back. read more

Got the vegan noodles thick which was pretty good! I like the variety although I'm more of a wet noodle person (broth with bak choy is $5 on the side). Sauces were spicy and there was a good array of fringe benefits including 2 white rabbit candy and floss and ginger chews. Inside is cozy with lots of decor, is clean and posh. I come to Papa Noodles all the time since it's right by my work and it's honestly soooo good. The menu isn't huge, but every single item hits. You can tell they use really good ingredients and care about the food. Plus, they have little White Rabbit candies and gum at the counter, which is such a cute touch. When I order to go, they always give a neat little bag with utensils, napkins, candy, and even a floss pick. Who does that? So thoughtful. The owner Jie is super friendly and always greets you with a big smile. The place itself is gorgeous, modern, cozy, and full of fun Asian-inspired decor. You can tell a lot of love went into it. Definitely one of my go-to spots and I'll keep coming back for sure. read more

Came in hoping to be in and out quick before my movie at the metreon. Super short wait for my food and i appreciated all the small things that came with the experience. the vinegar and spices were great to have and i love the self serve water and small post meal treats too! For the noodles i quite enjoyed the papa noodle. the texture of the noodles and mixins was awesome and the flavor of the dish was very satisfying. the americano had similar qualities but the meat was so tender and lightly sweet which made it my favorite dish that night. the beef noodle soup was also good but not as impressive as the other two. i made it to my movie super pumped because of the delicious and prompt experience here. definitely coming back! read more

Great downtown zhájiàngmiàn noodle spot. After sampling some caffeinated and non-caffeinated beverages nearby, I was hungry for some food. This place is great. Located right next to The Bird, a convenient spot. As soon as I entered, I got greeted by a very friendly lady. I ordered via kiosk this round for dine-in but you can also order via counter. I got their Papa Noodle (经典炸酱担担面) and the Win-win wings. Small menu but a little bit for everyone. They even have a vegan noodle option (Loma Noodle 秘制葱油酱面) which I haven't tried yet but looks promising. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful and delicious. I couldn't finish my food and the same friendly staff member gave me a to-go box. I would definitely come back to try the other items. (Late post from 7/26/25) A great little eatery on New Montgomery and close to Muni. You can order via 2 kiosk or at the counter. A very easy simple menu where you can order extra toppings too. The decor is very modern and quirky, with some very vintage looking items scattered around, such as the phone and Singer sewing machine. At the back, you can also play on the Pacman machine by the hallway whilst waiting for your order or to entertain the younger customers. After we ordered, we sat down and the signature Papa noodles was delivered to our table. We found all the condiments and utensils at the table. The Papa noodles $16.88 had pork and veggies. The presentation of the noodles looked colorful and healthy. At first I wasn't sure if it was served cold and as we dug our chopsticks into the noodles, we saw steam and it was piping hot. The soup was flavorful and hearty. I loved the big beautiful bowl it was served in and the chili sauce condiment was delicious. Self help to water by the counter and if needed, take out boxes were available too. Also, grabbed some Asian candy on the way out. The service is really friendly and worked hard to keep the tables clean. There's tons of entertainment while you wait - a little candy corner (2 per customer), a pac-man arcade game in the back, and a projector screen. Prices were reasonable - it's $16.88 for a Papa Noodle. When you get takeout, they also give utensils and a little flosser, which I thought was a cute touch. The dish itself was lovely. Papa Noodle was a delicious addition to my recent San Francisco day trip. We were able to place our orders at a kiosk and seat ourselves. Each table had jars of vinegar and chili oil, and a nearby TV displayed a showing of various Chinese street foods. The noodles were flavorful and aromatic, the meat was tender, and it was worth the 10-15 minutes we had to wait for our bowls. I ordered the Papa Noodle bowl, and the crunchy vegetables combined with the soft noodles were a great combination. My partner got the Braised Beef Noodle Soup, and although the noodles and meat were good, they said that the broth was a little bland. read more

I enjoyed my overall experience at Papa Noodle. There are kiosks where you can order, as well as at the counter. The menu is succinct, and I chose the signature Papa Noodle bowl with pork. The noodles were perfectly chewy, and the well-balanced sauce tasted homemade. The toppings of bean sprouts, cucumber, carrot, and pickled mustard greens were fresh and added a great textural component. There was a selection of chili oil, Chinese vinegar, hot pepper sauce (it was hot!), and soy sauce at the table. The portion size was large. The restaurant itself had plenty of seating, ranging from larger tables to countertop-type seating, and was clean and sleek. You are free to grab to-go containers, mints, and more, which was really convenient. The waitress gave us a few free ginger candies and white rabbit candy, which was a nice touch.
