I was near Chinatown for a meeting and realized I hadn't had a T-burger in a while. It was busy at lunchtime, but the person taking my order was friendly. The place is small, yet comfortable for dining in. I ordered to go and waited outside because it was busy. When my order was ready, the gentleman who had taken it brought it out to me, which was very kind. The T-burger is consistent and always hits the spot when I want a simple lunch.
cozy and home-ly shop where you can watch them hand make each dumpling meticulously. dishes are affordable and filling; the chives egg pancakes were packed with chives and worth the money!

Wow, amazingly fresh.. They also serve 5 years old black vinegar. Pork and cabbage dumpling is what I had. I had to resist to order more!! Great service and clean.

Ordered a chive pancake that was served piping hot and goes great with vinegar, soy sauce, and chili oil. It's a nice portion and packed full of chopped chives and egg. The chives and egg were mixed well, neither flavor overpowering the other and densely packed. It's a nice snack to have and quite a savory pancake. Not too busy in the mornings and service was very patient and fast. The interior is very simple with some art on white walls, easy to access seating, and overall calm interior looking out into the streets of Chinatown.

I got the Shrimp Chive & Egg Dumplings (12), Pork and Cabbage Dumpling(12), Chicken Pot Stickers (6) for around $40. This is as authentic of a dumpling spot as it can get. My favorite out of the three was actually the chicken pop stickers. They were pan fried to perfection. The vibes were also immaculate. Sitting outside and munching on dumplings while watching people live their everyday lives in Chinatown... a vibe! Also helps that the service was quick and amazing! Will definitely be back.
Small but clean place. Service was wonderful and owner (?) mixed dumpling sauce did us with aged vinegar/chili oil and was so yummy. Had chive pancake, shrimp soup dumpling and pork potstickers... so yummy., definitely will visit again when visiting SF

They take a bit of time as their hot plate setup space is limited (you can see them cooking), but once they're out, oh boy! They had bit of crunch on the outside, and the inside was nice and juicy. The filling was plentiful and tasty. The shrimp and chive egg filling was so good, very balanced to get a shrimp piece in every dumpling. The boiled dumplings were also really good. The dumpling skin was tender and the filling was flavorful. The pork and cabbage filling was great, always a classic go-to. The chicken and corn was also good. There's various sauces on the side for you to mix yourself. For a tiny spot, they do have a restroom and it was clean.

Hole in the wall spot with barely any seating, so I honestly wasn't expecting much... but this place surprised me. Egg and chive with shrimp? Sounds kinda random at first, but somehow it works ridiculously well together. The potstickers were delicious, and the wontons had that fresh handmade dough texture you can instantly tell wasn't frozen or mass-produced. The owner was super friendly too, which always makes the experience better. Their chili oil is amazing, especially mixed with their aged black vinegar and soy sauce. Could honestly drink that combo at this point. And the chive pancake? Absolute sleeper hit. Crispy, savory, addictive. Love finding lowkey spots like this that care more about flavor than aesthetics. read more
I got the chive pancake, chicken and corn dumplings, shrimp pot stickers, and pork and cabbage pot stickers to go. The food in general was pretty good. The chives were a bit strong for me personally but I've never had it prepared this way so other may like it just fine. I did enjoy the dumplings and potstickers and they were steamed which made them much easier to eat and soak the various sauces the kitchen gave me. I'd try this place again if I was in the mood for more dumplings on my next visiting SF. read more

4.25 rounded to 4. The food tastes amazing here, just wish the rou jia mou (Chinese meat sandwich) wasn't so expensive :( To be fair, rou jia mou is pretty hard to find and get right but this one is delicious! Meat is juicy and bun doesn't taste stale. Soup dumplings were also delicious and nourishing. They make all their dumplings by hand. We ended up also buying their frozen dumplings to make at home. Would come back again! read more

Today food is worth going to today because tomorrow you'll wonder why you didn't go yesterday. These are some of the best dumplings I've ever had in my life and I have tried hundreds of dumpling restaurants across the world. This is a must stop if you are in the Chinatown area of San Francisco. The tea eggs are very good here as well. All of the dumplings we tried were excellent and you can't go wrong with anything you order. read more

Review #924 Posted on 9.10.25 This local spot is a hitter. Family owned, and excellent. It's on the corner of right where the financial district & Chinatown meet, Hope I'm saying that correctly. The inside is tiny, maybe 3 tables tops, with a little nook/counter a few people can sit at also on barstools. Then there's 1 table outside with 2 chairs. We ended up sitting there and people watching. It was a cool experience. Not sure if he's the owner or not, but we met Frank, he was awesome. He asked us if we liked spicy food, we said yes, then Frank made us a custom side of chili oil to dip our food in. The sauce was excellent and went well with our fried & boiled dumplings. Another sign this place was/is good was the locals staring at our food as they walked by while we were eating outside. We would 100% comeback to this spot and highly recommend it. read more
Great spot for dumplings of all varieties. We got the chicken and corn dumplings and the pork and cabbage pot stickers. I really liked the pot stickers, they were crisp but juicy inside. I did see that the dumplings were from the freezer instead of freshly made, so the price was a bit high for the quality. But overall it was a nice meal! read more
Reasonably-priced tasty dumplings located at the intersection of Chinatown and FiDi! I come here for frozen dumplings to take home but they also have very good dumplings and pancakes you can eat-in, as well as some salads and veggies. I recommend the soup dumplings and spicy ones--lots of different fillings. They make the dumplings in-house and you can watch them! Customers range from families to local finance workers to older Asian grandparents. There's something for everyone! Service is good and quick. read more
Cozy dumpling spot in SF chinatown that gives off mom-and-pop vibes. The dumplings are a bit small but are very tasty, they have tons of variations on traditional recipes. I liked the corn dumplings with soup the most. There's a ground level and basement level for this seating. despite being seated in the basement, we were still attended to though the server wasn't always present on the basement floor. the restaurant uses paper plates and disposable utensils. read more

I was greeted right away. Everything is made to order. Looks like the owners were working the counter and cooking. I have walked by and have seen tons of people enjoying their dumplings the onion pancakes was delicious with the hot sauce and vinegar. Ambiance is very clean . Relatively new with an interesting name, Today Food attracted us because of its location in Chinatown, its good ratings, and our love of Xiao Long Bao (XLB). It did have good dumplings, but my misunderstanding of the menu gave us a missed opportunity while in San Francisco. We got a hotel in the Financial district to be close to Chinatown for our 2 night stay. Because we wanted to start our first full day early, we needed a restaurant that opened before lunchtime. "Today Food" fit the bill, and we took a Lyft there. It's a small storefront, with an open kitchen and a few tables to the side, one of which we grabbed for our group of three. The table has ramekins and easy to pour containers of dark soy sauce and chinese vinegar (later, the chef told us proudly that it was 6 month-aged and was good for health/longer life). The menu is a simple one page. First thing I noticed was that the picture for 'soup dumplings' was for dumplings in soup broth. So we switched gears and ordered Chives pancakes ($11.99 for 8 pieces), which came first. They were stuffed with egg along with the chives, and with the crispiness of the thin pancakes, made a great starter for me and my mother-in-law. Also got the steamed shrimp, chive, and egg dumpling ($12.99 for 12 pcs) and organic chicken pot stickers ($9.99 for 6). Both were served hot, and with the self-made vinegar and soy sauce, tasted good. Cans of different sodas are $2.50 each. Payment processing is powered by Toast, with the items in both Chinese and English. read more

I walked by this restaurant many times walking in Chinatown and figure I'd give it a try. One of my favorite childhood snacks is the egg and chive pancake. At a steep price of $12.99 it was very disappointing. It's always been more like a big stuffed dumpling, but this was indeed a pancake, and was not filling at all. It was also very oily. Decided to try one of their tea eggs, which was 1.99 for one. Unfortunately, the flavor was just not there. The space as small, the service was relatively quick. I wanted to get a quick light dinner but spending about $18, i was left still hungry. Maybe next time I'll try their dumplings because it's freshly made. But I probably rather have a bowl of noodles somewhere else. read more

Pork and cabbage pot stickers (4/5): The crisp on the potstickers was good. Dipping it in the chili oil helped. It tasted very fresh. Chicken and corn dumplings (4/5): I didn't expect this to come in a soup but it was good. The chicken and corn were a good pair. T-burger (5/5): I usually don't eat rou jia mo but it seemed popular here. The flatbread-like bun was crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. It was filled with braised and shredded pork which was tender. It was saucy and the flavor was good. This shop is small but definitely is a good try if you are looking for an easy lunch or dinner. Stopped by today food this weekend while I was out in Chinatown. Thought it was a really cool, lowkey spot great for a fast bite to eat. I ordered the boiled dumplings and Chinese burger. The dumplings were great - I'm generally a big fan of pork and cabbage filling and thought the dumplings themselves were wrapped well. Amazing service, nice staff, welcoming cute vibes. The food was awesome, the chili oil was fantastic! Peppery, savory, a little tingle but not too much spice. I ordered the Pork and Cabbage dumplings, the wrapping was so soft easy to chew, the filling was packed with flavor, juicy and a little crunch from the cabbage. The owner and staff were also very kind. Overall a 10/10 experience when coming to San Francisco if you want a comforting homey experience. I will be back again! read more

Was walking around Chinatown and looking for something to eat and came upon this little place on here with great reviews so we stopped by and gave it a try. I'm so glad we did cause wow it was delicious. Tiny little spot with a few tables but it's oddly quiet and peaceful. The service is impeccable and fast. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. You can also watch the ladies making the dumplings in the window out front We ordered the shrimp, egg and chive dumplings, pork and cabbage dumplings and the TBurger Everything was fresh, hot and flavorful. The dumplings have a good amount of filling. The T Burger was light and filled with lots of meat. I highly recommend stopping in and grabbing food here. read more

We came by recently after an appointment nearby, and tried their: T Burger Green onion pancakes Pork & cabbage potstickers Shrimp, chives and egg dumplings Cucumber salad Everything was so good. Especially love their green onion pancakes and the potstickers. Flaky and slightly chewy dough. Delicious alone or with the dark vinegar. The T burger is the Rou Jia Mo (肉夹馍) which translate to meat filled bun. Basically a Chinese-style burger. Filled and delicious. Small restaurant but with good customer service. Clean & pleasant. Great addition to the Chinatown /Financial District area. Located on Kearny and Sacramento. read more

Word of advice--if your daughter offers lunch at Today Food, answer "xiexie." This place is unique and fabulous. Ladies making dumplings in the window fabulous! The service was chinatown friendly. The place a bit divey, small, a few tables, and by older dim sum standards, expensive. But the potstickers and the chive pancake, oh baby, perfect filling and wrapper. read more

Overall, a surprising find! A cute hole in the wall dumpling house with vegetarian options. If you need a quick meal, this would be a place to go! Food: I'd recommend the cucumber salad! 5/5 stars on the flavor and spice levels. The vegetable potstickers had good flavors and noodles in the filling, something I haven't had before but was a pleasant surprise. Service: Quick service and nice staff! They were very accommodating! Ambiance: small location with very little seating room, I'd prepare to take your food to go if you have a larger party. Max room size is about 10 people and some outdoor seating, but not much! Parking: street parking available if you're brave! It's downtown SF so plan for 5-10 minutes looking for parking. There are plenty of nearby parking lots that you can park at too :) read more

I've been here quite a few times now and I can say that I love this place! I think they recognize me since I always order the T burger (roujiamo). The restaurant has a couple tables/limited seating. From what I gather there are more people who get takeout or their frozen food. There are always ladies in front of the window making dumpling. The owners are so friendly and lovely, they remind me of my friends' parents. Overall this place is a bit pricier since it's a small mom and pop shop. Also if you dine in, they serve things in disposable containers. (9/10) T burger is basically a Chinese hamburger, they pack it full with shredded meat and you can adjust the spiciness. You can tell they hand make the bread/bun and it's nice and crispy while the meat is juicy. (7/10) Potato strip salad, I really like sesame seeds and they top it with a lot of sesame seeds and sesame oil. Similarly you can ask for different levels of spiciness. (8/10) Cucumber salad, they season both the cucumber salad and the potato strip salad the same. I definitely recommend coming here and getting the T burger if you are in the area to support a local business! read more
This is my favorite dumpling house! The dumplings taste homemade and cozy; you can tell they're made with care. My go-tos are the chicken & corn and the chives, shrimp & egg, both are so flavorful and perfectly balanced. Don't skip their chili sauce if you want a little flavor kick...it's the best! read more

Today Food is the kind of spot I almost don't want to talk about. It's still under the radar. Not on TikTok yet. The minute someone with a ring light finds it, forget it -- you're waiting in line behind tech bros role-playing as food critics. Right now, my order comes out in eight minutes. That's exactly how long it takes to boil fresh dumplings. Not frozen. Not factory. Fresh. And you taste it immediately. Scallion pancakes? Best in SF. Crisp edges, flaky layers, that perfect chew -- the kind of texture you only get when somebody's been doing this for decades and isn't cutting corners. Dumplings? Also the best in the city. Shrimp-chive-egg is straight fire. It tastes like Guangzhou street stands mixed with Bay Area produce. It slaps in the way only something made by hand can. Here's the part I love -- the history you can taste: Scallion pancakes go back over a thousand years. Northern Chinese street food. Flour, water, scallions -- poor-people ingredients elevated through skill. When they're made right, you can feel the technique in the layers. Today nails that feeling. Dumplings are even older -- festival food, family-food, survival food. Every region has its own style. What matters here is the filling balance and the skin. Too thick? Dough bomb. Too thin? Falls apart. Today hits the sweet spot. And you can literally watch the craft happen. Aunties in the front window folding like 200 dumplings an hour, talking story, moving like muscle memory. That's the kind of authenticity you can't fake. Owner pulls up to your table with five-year aged vinegar, proud as hell, telling you why it matters. That's hospitality. That's culture.
