Wow wow wow. This place is IT. Long story short, every single thing we ate (and drank) at Fushimi was absolutely delicious! The sushi rolls were so well though out. They have such great combinations! For example, the Angry Dragon roll which consists of shrimp tempura, avocado, and spicy kani was taken to an entirely higher level by the citrus sweet miso sauce that tops it. It really had such a delicious flavor in your mouth. I usually don't have high hopes for vegetable gyoza cause I have had some pretty bad versions in the past, but these were super yummy also! The rock shrimp tempura was perfectly crispy and coated. We gobbled that up really fast The drinks are just as tasty as they are beautiful! The three of us were very impressed with the flavor and quality of the drinks. We felt so satisfied and pleased at the end of this meal. I was super impressed by their lunch special! For $20 they have a 5 course meal with unlimited soft drink. I got the seaweed salad, crab bisque, daily appetizer (shrimp tempura), chirashi box, and green tea ice cream. They also have English cucumber salad and the other appetizer for the unagi don was rock shrimp tempura which were also really good. I thought for the price, it was great value. Crab bisque had pieces of real crab and came w a slice of bread and cheese. Chirashi box came with masago rice and quality on par with other sushi lunch places I've been in the area. I really wanted to like this place. But it's hyped a bit. Came for a quick date on a Friday evening and was really excited to try their dishes. We ordered the Samurai, Lychee Bellini, Tito's mule, and a Manhattan for our drinks. These were all pretty good, but only after the waitress honestly explained how the bourbon based drinks were subpar. Drinks were 8/10. For appetizers, we ordered the American Dream and Angry Dragon sushi rolls. These were BOMB . Like their sushi is fantastic. But for dinner, we got the fillet mignon with Thai basil and the Parmesan crusted chicken. They were so bland . Like the waitress recommended these dishes but they had absolutely no flavor. So, I was put on to this restaurant by a group of friends. My first experience was takeout, second experience was in the actual restaurant. Both were great. Expect to wait bc its pretty busy the manager said they are short staffed due to covid (as most places are) but it's worth the wait. I have had then chicken fried rice, the petite filet mignon appetizer (both times), rock shrimp tempura, gyozas, spring rolls, the angry dragon roll, the lobster roll and the 7 ladies drink. I've also tasted the sunrise roll I believe it was called. It was a little sweet which I didn't care for (it has sweet plantain in it I believe) The angry dragon roll is the best to me and I probably will always get the petit filet mignon and gyozas lol. The rice I would get again too, but it's a big portion, good to share with someone. The drink was ok, I would probably try something different next time. Even in the cold Covid-19 outdoor seating season the staff do their best to provide fast and exceptional service. There is adequate heat and sturdy outdoor covering but if it's a cold windy night / day you will feel the draft so dress warm. Now I have been to Fushimi several times before and have never been disappointed so was not expecting anything less than delicious from the kitchen. Now Yelpers you know my favorite drink is Amaretto Sour so if you are on point with the drink then we are good to go. Let's just say I am way past GO. Drinks were on point and prepared well. From my Amaretto to the Green Tea shots. No complaints! There was a pre-select menu but again was not disappointed. The chicken avocado salad was delicious and tasted fresh. The crispy crab cakes with shrimps were perfectly made...they were not too dry and not to moist. The ribeye was also very tasty and well seasoned. I requested it to be prepared Medium and it was done exactly as requested. My husband had the lobsters and can be very picky on his meal but was also satisfied on the preparation of it. Dessert was also well done! Again I have been here a few times but my first time giving a review on them. HOT DAMN. 1st course: Soup. 2nd course: Salad. 3rd: Daily Appetizer. 4th: You can choose 1 Signature Roll, 6 pc sushi + 3 pc sashimi + 1 classic roll, OR 3 classic rolls. I chose 3 classic rolls - spicy crunchy salmon, yellowtail scallion, and shrimp & avocado. All of the rolls were tightly rolled and rice sparse (you can tell from the photos). Needless to say you'll be stuffed by the 5th course: Coffee, Tea, or Ice cream. I opted for coffee to wake me up from my food coma. Fushimi also has Weekly Specials and I wish I had known to take a photo of the one I ordered but it was a pressed, layered roll that involved salmon that was just oh so velvety smooth and if you check the photo just know it tasted better than it looked. Called to make reservation, was told that they don't do same day reservations ( SO KEEP THAT IN MIND), need to come and wait. It's ok. We came , wait time was not long, about 15 minutes. Tried this place for the first the other day . I must say it's one of the nicer spots in Williamsburg . We walked in with no reservation but were seated right away maybe because it was lunch time . We requested a booth and wasn't a problem . First thing I noticed was a bottle of VOSS on the table, was little thrown off but every table had those only . No option for tap or regular water , if you want water crack it open and will be charged accordingly. Not a problem a lot of high end restaurants do that. We started with 2 appetizer, and the portion size was good . Everything was very timely , as soon as we finished apps , main entree came. Again the portion size was on the generous side . Went in to order a few dishes and the waitress thought I didn't know what kind of sushi I was talking about when ordering. After I said I wanted nigiri, she continued to say do you want fish with or without rice, clearly ignoring what I had to say and going on with her own words. After she realized what I said then she walked away before I could order more food. When she brought over the food she was inattentive, not acknowledging us, and never really took care of us. The quality of fish was superb, but the rice was compact and not flaky like normal sushi rice. Seemed like they smushed it together and slapped on their fish slices. The worst part, I gave her a bad tip, $4, for it to be $75 total. After checking my credit statement, they charged me a $10 tip to be $81. The stupidity of the waitress that they'd actually try to give themselves a better tip for subpar service. Don't go here if you want bad service with a staff who clearly have no morals. They'd rather take your money than provide a decent experience. Shame on that waitress for trying to steal money. read more
