The filling was flavorful, but the wrapper seemed a bit over-steamed, causing the dumplings to fall apart when we picked them up with chopsticks. For our sushi, we ordered the Dragon Roll, Yellowtail Scallion Roll, Salmon Avocado Roll, Tuna Avocado Roll, Out of Control Roll, and an order of Octopus Nigiri (three pieces). The classic rolls were fresh and allowed the quality of the fish to shine through with their simple preparation. Rock shrimp tempura;?a popular Japanese-American fusion appetizer featuring bite-sized pieces of rock shrimp that are lightly battered, deep-fried until crispy, and tossed in a creamy, spicy sauce. The sauce is the best, it's made from a Japanese mayonnaise ( probably Kewpie) chili garlic sauce, and rice vinegar. Absolutely delicious! 2. Shrimp shumai; a juicy filling of shrimp, mixed with Chinese black mushrooms and seasoned with rice wine, soy sauce, sesame oil, and ginger. The soy sauce came in these adorable plastic bottles. 3. California Rolls; there was a mix up with my order and I received a crab roll instead. However, I have eaten the California rolls at the restaurant and they are also delicious. There are so many wonderful options to order from for example, Lobster salad, Tuna tapas and gyoza. The cocktails are smashing! This is a top sushi place in New York. I have been coming here for years and it hits every single time. The most recent visit was a quick stop and it was simple but, as usual, delicious. We had a reservation for three and got seated immediately. We got green tea which was great to warm up with. Our waitress was very attentive with the tea refill, which I really appreciated. We got Kani salad and fried rice to share. They came out almost immediately. The fried rice was so addictive I wanted to eat the whole massive plate myself. It did have very minimal pieces of chicken which was disappointing. We also got their iconic tuna with crispy rice. It was amazing as per usual. The ratio of tuna and rice and spicy is amazing, with a nice slice on jalapeño to top it off. The waitress was really nice always checking in on us. Overall just disappointing we won't be back. Trying to enter was difficult as my mother in law could not climb the stairs and had to squeeze between a BMW and a Mercedes which were blocking the handicapped access ramp. It wasn't just one bone but loads of tiny ones. Lobster roll - ehhhh. Ok. Nothing special don't do it Spider roll - my wife said it was ok but needs something. Not great Yellowtail sashimi was amazing. Nice large pieces. Probably some of the best I have ever had. Sushi pizza tasted like it had some discount guacamole on it which made the whole thing taste bitter. I would not do this again. Grilled Spanish octopus was very tender and flavorful. Hamachi kama - tasty but not alot of meat Gyoza - good Crispy Chilean sea bass rolls - notngood and not worth it at all Risotto balls - nope. No flavor Overall experience disappointing. A Horrible Experience ! I called to ask if they had the Truffle Lamb Chops at the Bay Ridge Location like they have at the Staten Island Location. They said yes they have them & then, when i ordered them they tried to pass off another version to me instead. I am very disappointed that i drove into bklyn to have them & they said i can go back to staten island to have them if i like after i drove to brooklyn. Was looking for a new place to eat after my daughters graduation. Didn't want to leave the area, but since it was 11:30AM, it was hard to find a place that was open. I noticed they opened at 11:30- so it was perfect! We were immediately seated and the place was pretty much empty, but it quickly filled up with other patrons. I opted for the lunch special. Miso Soup (my first time) cucumber salad and Salmon. I liked everything that I ordered and thought it's a pretty good deal. I also went with the broccolini-- wish they had just regular broccoli or spinach, but it served it's purpose. We also ordered the teriyaki steak, mashed potatoes, California roll, Ribeye steak and molten cake. We all were very happy with the food here. The only thing I didn't care for was the sangria. Fushimi has completely fallen apart. I've been a loyal local for years--over 40 visits--but after my latest experience, I'm done for good. Everything was off that night. Mistake after mistake. Spoiled fish in my wife's Fire & Ice roll (smelled and tasted rotten), drinks took 25 minutes, my sushi was served to someone else. The quality has been steadily dropping, and now it's obvious they've cut corners across the board--lower quality ingredients, careless service. To make it worse, the staff was rude and dismissive. I never complain, but I did this time, and they said a manager would contact me. No one ever did. That tells you everything you need to know. Prices are up, food is down, and the only thing they improved was the decor. It's not even a good date spot anymore--screaming kids running around every time. This place isn't about food or service anymore. It's about profit over customers, and it shows. The vibe from management is smug and indifferent. I'll never eat here again. No matter who I go with, we always order this dish. I've had this at other restaurants, and this place makes it best to me. ($12) Sashimi Pizza- At first I didn't know what to expect, but when I took my first bite, wow. Absolutely delicious. ($18) Salmon Four Ways- Surprisingly filling and perfect for salmon lovers. ($35) The King of Steak- The filet mignon is always tender and cooked perfectly. The sides and sauce are the perfect combination with the steak. ($40) Blueberry Panna Cotta- This is a great dessert if you want something light. It's a cool and refreshing way to end the meal. ($8) Warm Chocolate Cake- My favorite dessert from this place. This lava cake is divine. ($10) I'm not sure if they still have the Saturday and Sunday brunch menu, but they currently have a four course early dinner menu during 4 p.m.-7 p.m. for $30.95. I've been ordering different dishes from this menu during my recent visits. It's such a great value for a filling meal. This is what I ordered during my most recent visit: Avocado Cucumber Salad- Can't get enough of this flavorful, refreshing salad. Love the yuzu wasabi vinaigrette so much. Petit Angry Dragon Roll- Good quality sushi. Slowly Baked Salmon- Very delicious entrée. The salmon was cooked perfectly. I love the taste of the mashed potato and other side vegetables. Crème Brûlée- The crust is nicely carmelized and crunchy. The custard is smooth, creamy, and not too sweet. The order came with 6pcs of sushi (two of them in a set of 2), 3pcs of sashimi, a california roll and a can of soda or bottle of water. I wish I had gotten more of a variety in those sushi pieces. I felt that their lunch special was a bit pricy for the area, but I had a DoorDash deal. The quality of the fish was meh. I wasn't bad but it did not taste as fresh. The look is very chic, more like a club with the cool boots, young attractive staff and music. We started with cocktails and I had the Double Espresso Martini and it was a delicious but powerful lil thing. For an app I went with the Yellowtail Jalapeno and it was outstanding. The Yellowtail was like butter and fresh as can be. The buttery fish, spicy jalapeno and tart ponzu mingling so well with each other. For my main I had the Ribeye. Cooked to a perfect medium rare with a delicious teriyaki sauce on the side and very good mashed potatoes and crisp broccoli. I meant to post this a couple of months ago : I heard good reviews about this location from my friends, so I had a relative who was at the shop to bring takeout for me; we got Sex on the Beach, Toro-Toro Roll and Crispy Calamari. To be fair, you cannot go wrong with calamari. The taste was as expected. Unfortunately, I did not expect the calamari to be used as a palate cleanser. Sex on the Beach was very disappointing. I like sashimi but the fish was not fresh. I am not sure if ordering for dinner meant the fish was left outside for the most of the day (even though the fish would have been frozen or refrigerated) but the texture tasted so wrong. I was very disturbed and couldn't finish the roll. The rolls were quite big with a lot of rice, but the fish slices mainly deterred me. Toro-Toro Roll was a recommendation from one of the servers, according to my relative, and she said it was the most popular choice. Well, this roll was revolting. I'm not sure if the food was supposed to be good once it's made and not when it is being delivered for take out. First off, the website photos made it look quite appealing, yet when I received the box, it was a chunky mess. In an extreme POV, my little brother thought the top seared toro looked like the foreskin of , but I thought the main issue was the inside of the roll. The marinated toro was a mushy soggy fleshy thing; it was not cleanly cut nor appetizing. The rightmost roll on the toro picture shows just a sneak peek on what it looked like. I thought that I couldn't judge the roll on its appearance but the first bite had me gagging. I had big expectations because I have heard that toro was quite good, yet I would like to blame it on the marinade and the delivery trip. However, at that moment, it was a little bit traumatizing. I still feel goosebumps thinking about it now . I had to eat the calamari to cleanse my palate from these two rolls. TLDR: the rolls were gigantic with lots of rice and not fresh fish. I don't recommend the Toro-Toro Roll. Please save yourself from eating this roll. read more
