I met a friend for a quick drink and bite, however, we were a little disappointed because they no longer had happy hour. Their happy hour used to be the bomb! Nonetheless, the place is quaint and Cindy made our drinks to order. I had the shrimp tempura roll which was delish! This restaurant is around the corner from my house so I walked over this visit. Everything was tasty overall! read more

I order from them once a week the food is always fresh and delicious. Prices are decent and delivery is pretty quick. Would highly recommend

In general, this is a good institution, which I repeatedly turned to during lunch. Orders are usually executed quickly, and the service is pleasant. It was nice that the staff had previously taken into account my wishes for orders. However, during recent visits there have been some difficulties in clarifying the details of my order. I would like a little more attention to regular customers, especially when it comes to dietary restrictions. Once I received a dish that did not meet my expectations, and the situation was not resolved quite tactfully. Despite this point, the quality of food in most cases was at a level, and I would not exclude the possibility of returning again if some organizational nuances are improved. read more

I really like this restaurant. I don't come as often anymore because of some stomach problems but that's my personal problems. However, the food here is really really good. I have brought my mom here tons of times, and they even came with my cousin once, and a friend. Since turning 21 I have also had the pleasure to enjoy their cocktail menu, which is really delicious. I recommend the Hawaiian lemonade. It's probably my favorite drink to order. Also like that, they let you order out drinks as long as you come and show your ID, which is really nice when you want to have takeout but you also want some alcohol. I normally order a shrimp, tempura roll and steak hibachi. I recently also ordered their chicken wings with sweet chili sauce, which is also a really good dish. I recommend the food it's always fire every time I go. The ambience of the restaurant is really really nice. I love the decor and the music that's always playing. I will say that the restaurant really isn't made for a lot of people because the food always comes out slow even though there's never a full restaurant. read more

Drinks are really good, food just ok. Bartender makes tasty drinks, I use to go for happy hour!!! But the food is mid at best.

Great food nice small intimate place for a first date or a quick lunch break the best thing is that it won't break the bank

Stopped in and placed an order. The food is ok on a last minute pinch. The crab roll and salmon rolls are good

Take out- SO SO SO GOOD. I have been trying to find sushi in mill basin that I like. And I have found it. There is another sushi spot up the road (that I shall not name) that many locals see to be a fan of and China Tokyo tops there 100 times. The fish is fresh. The jalapeño on the yellow tail is fresh crunchy with perfect spice (the place up the road gives you a jarred picked jalapeño- gross). The Manhattan roll was AMAZING! It is all so good and I definitely recommend it again. read more

The food was good. I went on a slow night so not much traffic. Service was decent. I did think it felt a bit dark/dim so a little hard to see but nonetheless pretty good. I was there around a Saturday night. Ordered a chicken and broccoli with pork fried rice, Chicken Lo Mein, Shrimp & Broccoli with white rice, fried chicken wings and orders of margaritas. The margaritas were solid. Nothing too crazy. All in all, I'd go back and you should too. Happy eating!! read more

I have visted this place several times before and finally got a chance to review them. I visted this past Sunday and I appreciate this place because it's in the neighborhood and has Happy hour 7 days a week from 4-8! Major plus. The drinks are good and are around 6-8 dollars. They also have appetizers on the menu for happy hour as well The food- what i have tasted has always been good. I've had the general tsos chicken , shrimp tempura roll, sesame chicken, and pork dumplings. All good. The entrees are a good size as well. The ambiance- nice low key spot good for a quiet date night in the neighborhood. Wish they played soft music or something. The service- this particular night t here was only one waitress and she was new. There was a few mistakes made and it took a while doe orders. She was nice though however they should have two people if they are training staff. Check it out if you are in the area. read more

My dance mom friends and I have been coming here while our kids are in dance class. There is an advertisement that clearing states Happy Hour from 4pm to 8pm. We got here at 5:45pm and was informed that there is no happy hour by Cindy because of covid. If that's the case why do you still have the sign advertised "Happy Hour 7 days a week from 4pm to 8pm" and if it's stopped because of "covid" that advertisement should be taken down. Then when brought to Cindy attention she got a nasty attitude. This will be my last time visiting this establishment. read more

Sushi is great. Service was fast as well. I enjoyed my shrimp tempura and spicy tuna rolls.

I decided to give this place another try. Again menu was not very creative but the food was pretty good and large portions. Unlike the first time, the service was lacking. Even though there weren't many people in the restaurant the waiter was unattentive. If you are in area I would say stop by and check it out. It's a good neighborhood spot. read more

Came here for a date night and upon entry the hostess didn't even look up from her phone. I understand why they were empty. We were told to sit anywhere and weren't even given water until asked. We constantly had to call over the waitress because we weren't being attended to, even being the only ones there. The sushi, dumplings and ribs were pretty good. The hibachi was not good and lacked seasoning. If you had to choose get the noodles over the rice. My boyfriend asked if he could change his order because he did not like it at all. They said no and offered us to buy more food. The drinks are watered down. The fried ice cream was not good and cheaply prepared using some type of dough instead of cornflakes or cookies as breading. From my understanding they close at 10:30 yet we were being rushed out by 9:55. And just as they didn't greet us, they didn't give us a farewell either. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone and definitely wouldn't ever come back. read more

My experience is usually 3 or 4 stars. I come here with my cousin sometimes during our lunch break because of the proximity. I've been here by myself a few times as well. I highly recommend the plum wine here. It tastes so good and they give you a good amount for the price. $9. The service is very quick and they waiters are attentive. It's never usually busy when I come here so it's like you have their undivided attention when you come. The food is really good as well and fairly priced. I usually order the shrimp with mixed vegetables and garlic sauce and that typically runs me about $8 or $9 during lunch time. I wish they'd add a little more rice though but otherwise it is such a good dish! China Tokyo is easy to find, right along avenue N. I think it's pretty much the best Chinese food you can get in the area and because of that I find myself frequenting this place at least once a month. read more

There is a new sheriff in town! Or at least a new samurai! This magnificent asian fusion restaurant , formally the KAR, fills the void this neighborhood desperately needed. A moderately priced asian joint that serves up uncommon dishes and exceeds your expectations. I've dined here with my family three times now and each time the food did not disappoint. From the appetizers like fried dumplings to shrimp wrapped in potato strings, the food came out meticulously arranged and was a feast for the eyes before satisfying the taste buds. For the main course, we had, the five ocean, which is a spicy seafood dish sautéed with vegetables and light sauce. My mom, who never likes any restaurant food, actually finished her entire meal and even gave a complement. We also had shimp in black bean sauce which my wife enjoyed. It had a nice tangy flavor with a dash of a hot spice that really kicks in once you take a few bites. I had the filet mignon over chow fun. Which at first I was a bit cynical about. Putting a classical western steak over chinese wide noodles? WTF!! But surprisingly, it was good. The meat was cooked skillfully and both dishes complemented each other well. I guess, east meets west. But the best dishes of the night were the sushi. It came out in intricate arrangements that was almost a shame to eat and ruin the artistry of it. Each individual rolls and the sushi were probably the best that I've tasted. The cut of the salmon and tuna were such that, it literally melted in your mouth. So silky and tender yet full of rich flavor. The spicy tuna had it's own flair. The flavor stood firm in your palate even after you've eaten it moments ago. The decor is modern and tastefully done. It had a hint of a asian motif to it but not overly so. The place is clean, well designed and will not embarrass the company you bring over. The staff gets an "A" for effort but are not classically trained. They are attentive but need a bit more seasoning. The only gripe I have is that the each time we have went and ordered, the food came out at long intervals. This does not really bother me so much but it drove my wife nuts. While one person is enjoying their dish, all the others seated at the table are twiddling their thumbs. This is probably due to the fact that they haven't been opened very long and will improve as the kitchen gets their timing better but nevertheless, it was annoying. Also they have a great deal for yelpers. $25 for $10. It's like buying champagne with beer money. Now you don't have an excuse not to go! read more

I was afraid to come here because of some reviews. But i will try almost anywhere once Ordered: Fuji Roll, Sizziling Brazilian roll , Eel avocado Roll ( and one i cant remember) All were delicious. The waiter was nice The water glasses had lipstick stains The bus boy hawked ( i could feel him staring) and as soon as we were done with our last bite he ran over to take the plate. I ordered the Emerald City Martini To drink , it was DELICIOUS, it took forever to get . When done with my first drink the barback came and asked if i wanted another one i said yes please she returned a while later with the wrong drink, so my friend said she'll keep it. We timed the second one and it took 8 long minutes come. When we got the bill she charged us for the incorrect drink which was a little annoying because it was her mistake, it was $11.00 and we wouldnt have ordered it in the first place. The bill was Over 110 for 6 Drinks and 4 rolls... The martinis were $11 Each and the Wine was 9, specialty rolls were around $12-$14 We used a restaurant.com certificate which took off $25 I would go back read more

What's not to love??? It's in a quiet neighborhood, it's new new and has Grade A inspection! I've been here three times and the sushi has yet to disappoint. So far I've had the general tso chicken, shrimp with lobster sauce and walnut shrimp. The winner for me was definitely the walnut shrimp. It was scrumptious! Decor is cool and calming, the three times I went it was never crowded. Portions, variety and price of food is like any other thai place, but tastes better. I'm guessing because the kitchen is not overwhelmed. Now a 'go to' place to eat for me. read more

My cousin and I came here on a recommendation the other night. Looked at the reviews and the reviews check out. The ambiance and décor is nice, very trendy. The fried noodles came out with duck sauce and a mustard sauce as their version of a bread basket. I'm used to my fried noodles coming out warm. My cousin didn't like that the duck sauce was cold(that didn't bother me though). Ok so now we order our food. My cousin ordered the general tso chicken with extra sauce and white rice. I ordered the four seasons(pork, shrimp, beef, & chicken w/ mixed veggies) with brown rice. The food was nothing more than you regular neighborhood Chinese store with higher prices and a nice place to eat at a table. I have had better. Needless to say I prolly will not be going back here unless I am in the area craving Chinese food. Oh yea! I also ordered a boston roll as my appetizer which was good and my cousin ordered the chicken wings that came with a sweet 'n' spicy sauce. She thought the wings needed more flavor but loved the sauce. So maybe I will return for the sushi. read more

I've passed by this place more times than I can count but never had a chance to go in. Finally one night I grabbed the hubster and we took the short ride from my house over there. Walked in and immediately liked the place. Its a bit bigger than it looks from the outside and the décor is fantastic. We sat and ordered a couple of beers and here's where it went bad.... In comes three young men, late teens possibly early twenties, absolutely REEKING of a -- ahem -- natural herb. The restaurant was not even half full and yet they sat them at the table right next to us. The "aroma" was so overwhelming I could barely stand it. On top of the fact that they were so loud and obnoxious there was no way to enjoy our night. We quietly asked to be moved and was told they couldn't move us because they had a large party coming in. At that point we decided we couldn't last much longer. We rushed through the rest of meal and got out of there. To be honest, because of the whole situation, I actually can't remember how good the food was which is such a shame. I'd definitely give them another shot at some point just to be fair and update my review. read more

Good food nice staff great vibe and prices are good. My kids love ordering or going to the place to eat well

I will explain why I rate them a 0 later on today. Is because of ignorance of one lady and how she threat her customers.

Place is decent and the decor too. The waitresses were polite and respectful. Food was good and we will return. It wasn't much people but do not let the fool you..it is definitely not because the food is not good. read more

Inside is really nice for a neighborhood restaurant but the service wasn't that great. We felt rushed to put in an order and the waiter kept hovering near our table. The happy hour wasn't explained clearly and when we figured it out, it wasn't much of a happy hour. Who doesn't have wine as a part of happy hour??? The sushi took forever to come out and it was our appetizer and it tasted just ok. I had the walnut shrimp and it was just ok as well. Later that night it was killing my stomach though. This place is terrible . They didn't want to sit us down then when they did, no menus were brought out. They didn't give us a menu until 30 minutes in. My friend and I saw their advertisement for happy hour from 4-8pm so we decided to go in and give it a try because it's right in our area. The restaurant itself is really cute and it has a nice bar area. They offer the Happy Hour at any table in the restaurant rather than just having to sit at the bar which I like. The happy hour had $5 glasses of wine, $3-$5 appetizers and $3-$5 rolls of sushi. We both ordered a glass of wine and ordered a few rolls and appetizers to share. We tried to chicken and vegetable gyoza, edamame, and chicken tempura roll, California roll, and the Boston roll. The food was all pretty good but the wine was terrible. We both had headaches after drinking it, that's my main reason for the 3 stars. If I would of paid the regular $9 for the glass of wine I would of been annoyed that that is what they served. It's worth it for the food, but if I was to go again I wouldn't drink their wine. read more

Have you ever experience poor customer service with a nasty attitude? How do an employee act nasty during the holidays? My fellow Yelpers, it is very possible especially at this establishment. The lady that host this place ALWAYS have a nasty attitude and think she queen of the world. I asked this chick, can I get some forks, plates and napkins, because I am not heading home. She caught an attitude and was not cooperative. Why the hell would you roll you freaking eyes, while dealing with your customers. So keep your food and eat it, I rather eat elsewhere. Ok - This is the experience: I walked in and I love the atmosphere and setting of this place and it has a nice small bar that attracts many locals in the area - that is a 4 If you are ordering the Oceans 8 or 11 - which is a seafood dish...... Great Food (Chinese & Sushi), Nice Ambiance, Excellent Service. Definitely worth a try. Glad to discover this gem.

How to lose a customer??? China Tokyo easy!!! We've been ordering from this place for some time now, and even dined-in on a couple of occasions. This time we were so hungry that decided to order a take-out instead of going home and ordering a delivery. Our hunger had no boundaries, and we managed to surpass $46. But what a miracle: the menu offered a $5 discount on $30 or more. When we mentioned a coupon, the girl said, -Next time! -Why? I studied the nonexistent small script. -You didn't bring it in! So if I were to walk in, get the menu, return to my hubby in the car (as I planned on doing in the first place), decide what we needed and walk back in to place an order, it would have been fine. The zealousy with which the two employees/servers/owners (no idea) were fighting with me over $5 was astounding and worthy of respect on a battlefield. But we are not at war.... this is just a restaurant, one of many. read more
