    Shrimp Tempura Roll

I really like this restaurant. I don't come as often anymore because of some stomach problems but that's my personal problems. However, the food here is really really good. I have brought my mom here tons of times, and they even came with my cousin once, and a friend. Since turning 21 I have also had the pleasure to enjoy their cocktail menu, which is really delicious. I recommend the Hawaiian lemonade. It's probably my favorite drink to order. Also like that, they let you order out drinks as long as you come and show your ID, which is really nice when you want to have takeout but you also want some alcohol. I normally order a shrimp, tempura roll and steak hibachi. I recently also ordered their chicken wings with sweet chili sauce, which is also a really good dish. I recommend the food it's always fire every time I go. The ambience of the restaurant is really really nice. I love the decor and the music that's always playing. I will say that the restaurant really isn't made for a lot of people because the food always comes out slow even though there's never a full restaurant.

Take out- SO SO SO GOOD. I have been trying to find sushi in mill basin that I like. And I have found it. There is another sushi spot up the road (that I shall not name) that many locals see to be a fan of and China Tokyo tops there 100 times. The fish is fresh. The jalapeño on the yellow tail is fresh crunchy with perfect spice (the place up the road gives you a jarred picked jalapeño- gross). The Manhattan roll was AMAZING! It is all so good and I definitely recommend it again.

I have visted this place several times before and finally got a chance to review them. I visted this past Sunday and I appreciate this place because it's in the neighborhood and has Happy hour 7 days a week from 4-8! Major plus. The drinks are good and are around 6-8 dollars. They also have appetizers on the menu for happy hour as well The food- what i have tasted has always been good. I've had the general tsos chicken , shrimp tempura roll, sesame chicken, and pork dumplings. All good. The entrees are a good size as well. The ambiance- nice low key spot good for a quiet date night in the neighborhood. Wish they played soft music or something. The service- this particular night t here was only one waitress and she was new. There was a few mistakes made and it took a while doe orders. She was nice though however they should have two people if they are training staff. Check it out if you are in the area.

My dance mom friends and I have been coming here while our kids are in dance class. There is an advertisement that clearing states Happy Hour from 4pm to 8pm. We got here at 5:45pm and was informed that there is no happy hour by Cindy because of covid. If that's the case why do you still have the sign advertised "Happy Hour 7 days a week from 4pm to 8pm" and if it's stopped because of "covid" that advertisement should be taken down. Then when brought to Cindy attention she got a nasty attitude. This will be my last time visiting this establishment.

I decided to give this place another try. Again menu was not very creative but the food was pretty good and large portions. Unlike the first time, the service was lacking. Even though there weren't many people in the restaurant the waiter was unattentive. If you are in area I would say stop by and check it out. It's a good neighborhood spot.

Always such a great time here. Food is good, drinks are good, and the vibe is really chill and inviting. I came here on a whim with my boyfriend and we had an excellent time. I couldn't eat most of the food (sushi) which all looked sooooo good.. but my general tso with brown rice was delish! This is not my first time here, and definitely not my last! I'll be back in a few months when I can have sushi again.

There is a new sheriff in town! Or at least a new samurai! This magnificent asian fusion restaurant , formally the KAR, fills the void this neighborhood desperately needed. A moderately priced asian joint that serves up uncommon dishes and exceeds your expectations. I've dined here with my family three times now and each time the food did not disappoint. From the appetizers like fried dumplings to shrimp wrapped in potato strings, the food came out meticulously arranged and was a feast for the eyes before satisfying the taste buds. For the main course, we had, the five ocean, which is a spicy seafood dish sautéed with vegetables and light sauce. My mom, who never likes any restaurant food, actually finished her entire meal and even gave a complement. We also had shimp in black bean sauce which my wife enjoyed. It had a nice tangy flavor with a dash of a hot spice that really kicks in once you take a few bites. I had the filet mignon over chow fun. Which at first I was a bit cynical about. Putting a classical western steak over chinese wide noodles? WTF!! But surprisingly, it was good. The meat was cooked skillfully and both dishes complemented each other well. I guess, east meets west. But the best dishes of the night were the sushi. It came out in intricate arrangements that was almost a shame to eat and ruin the artistry of it. Each individual rolls and the sushi were probably the best that I've tasted. The cut of the salmon and tuna were such that, it literally melted in your mouth. So silky and tender yet full of rich flavor. The spicy tuna had it's own flair. The flavor stood firm in your palate even after you've eaten it moments ago. The decor is modern and tastefully done. It had a hint of a asian motif to it but not overly so. The place is clean, well designed and will not embarrass the company you bring over. The staff gets an "A" for effort but are not classically trained. They are attentive but need a bit more seasoning. The only gripe I have is that the each time we have went and ordered, the food came out at long intervals. This does not really bother me so much but it drove my wife nuts. While one person is enjoying their dish, all the others seated at the table are twiddling their thumbs. This is probably due to the fact that they haven't been opened very long and will improve as the kitchen gets their timing better but nevertheless, it was annoying. Also they have a great deal for yelpers. $25 for $10. It's like buying champagne with beer money. Now you don't have an excuse not to go!

Reservations become available 14 days in advance on Resy, so I'd highly recommend booking early to secure a table during normal eating hours. Sadly, since it was just the two of us, we couldn't sample as much of the menu as we wanted. Our server recommended a hot appetizer and a fancier option from their Summer Special menu: KARAAGE - 14 Each order came with five thick pieces of chicken karaage. The chicken arrived hot and juicy, seasoned well enough to be enjoyed on its own or dipped in the side of shichimi mayo. This was a great appetizer to share, and I'd recommend it if you're looking for a reliable classic. TEMAKI SET - 95 Served in roughly an 8"x8" wooden box, this set was lavishly topped toro, Hokkaido uni, ikura, and possibly Iberian ham, with crispt nori sheets on the side to make DIY handrolls. After scooping a bit of everything into a little wrap, I was greeted with the most intense, fresh sea flavors. The toro and Iberian ham were fatty and buttery, blending seamlessly with the velvety smooth uni and the fresh, bursting pops of ikura. I had to pause after every bite just to deeply savor it, and I lost count of how many times I said, "Wow, this is so good." Since I don't live in NYC, I generally avoid repeating restaurants even if I enjoyed them. However, Ozakaya is an exception to this rule -- it's easily one of the best meals I've eaten during all my recent visits. I don't know where they source their seafood, but it's incredibly fresh and packed with umami. Even days after, I'm still thinking about the velvety sweetness of that uni, and I can't wait for my next visit.

The menu is pretty diverse with various appetizers, sushi, and also ramen/curry so your standard izakaya fare. One of my favorite dishes here has been the chirashi. The fish was very fresh and it's pretty affordable. It's been open for a few years, so clearly it has a good enough formula to keep the neighborhood happy. I have been here once before, but returned last week after dining several meals at Tomoni in Jackson Heights. Apparently, the owners are friends. Nonetheless, I needed to make the comparison. After my first few bites of their Tora Don and Chirashi Don, it was clear that this restaurant has the better quality seafood. Each slice of sashimi had vibrant colors, clean taste, and the proper texture. Tomoni is not bad, but fall slightly short of this caliber. With that said, there is an even farther gap between their rice quality. Though Tora is very good, Tomoni produces nearly perfect texture and acidity for my taste buds. Other than the best omakase restaurants in NYC, Tomoni shines as one of the best versions of sushi rice in the five boroughs. Service is good and space is cute. If I have a craving for some decent Japanese food, I would drive 20 minutes here for a meal anytime.

While wandering through Bed-Stuy on a weekday evening, my husband and I decided to try out this new…read moresushi spot. It wasn't terrible--but I had a lot of mixed feelings. Food: 3/5 I'm a huge sushi fan, so I was excited when I saw a deluxe sashimi set on the menu. Unfortunately, it didn't quite hit the mark. The scallop was thinly sliced and lacked the rich texture I was hoping for. The salmon and other cuts were decent, but short and oddly shaped--chunky yet small, which made the whole presentation feel a bit off for something labeled deluxe. We also tried to branch out and ordered the short rib entree. For $21, it was shockingly small--definitely a single-person portion, not sharable. I added extra ikura to a salmon donburi bowl for $2, but it was barely a teaspoon's worth--just enough to say it was there. Oddly, the salmon slices in that bowl were thinner than the sashimi we had just eaten, and overall, it left me still hungry even after sharing a maki roll. Lastly, my husband ordered a green salad, which somehow took the entire meal service to arrive. When it finally came, it was just plain romaine, cucumbers, radish, and dressing. For a dinner that clocked in at over $150 (after tip), we definitely left underwhelmed. Service: 3/5 This part wasn't bad, just confusing. We were seated quickly, but the pacing of the meal was strange. Our seaweed salad and soups came out promptly, but the green salad came last, after the hot dishes and nearly after my husband finished eating. Also, a small thing--but when I'm paying $16 for four oysters, I want to know what kind they are. The menu just said "West Coast oysters," but our server couldn't tell us the variety or origin. Not a huge deal, but it added to a general lack of polish that didn't quite match the pricing. I don't think I'd return. For the price, there are better sushi options in Brooklyn with higher quality, better portions, and clearer service. Still, I appreciate new spots opening up in the neighborhood, and I'm always happy to try something new. Hopefully they refine the menu and service with time.

We started with the salmon belly carpaccio which I'd say isn't really a carpaccio because the salmon isn't sliced as thinly as you'd expect. But! I mention that just to set expectations. Nomenclature aside, it's an excellent appetizer. Served in a truffle and ponzu sauce, the salmon is lightly seared which yields two different textures to the fish. It practically melts in your mouth. Highly recommend this dish. For my entree I went with the trio don, which is 6 pieces of sashimi served over your choice of plain or sushi rice (sushi rice for me). The fish was fresh and flavorful. The portion was perfect for me. My boyfriend ordered a yellowtail roll and enjoyed that as well. We also shared a carafe of the cold house sake. I'd definitely come back and try more items on the menu. It's great for sharing and trying new dishes. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the prices were very reasonable.
