After seeking different restaurants within Lowell, I requested my husband to give this a try. It surprise me this restaurant has so many low ratings. My overall experience, I believe this is very much top notch and upscale restaurant. My hubby and I went for Valentine's day dinner and was absolutely delicious and enjoyable. I love the fact they have variety draft beer to select from. The service was really pleasant. Our waiter wait the right time to come and serve us. There were no rush in the service. Prices were not overpriced or over rated like others. Certainty, the Chef is doing a great job with the meal selection. My filet mignon was unbelievable delicious. Our dish sizes were no small at all- I guess it depends on what you order. Overall, we had a great time and definitely we'll be back soon enough to try other dishes. read more

tl;dr: great food and service. Initial issues were quickly resolved. My wife and I went to Fuse because the chef was previously at one of our favorite restaurants, Evenfall in Bradford. We missed the excellent and creative cuisine there and we're excited to find out that Fuse had a similar menu. We made reservations, but had to wait a little while to be seated upon arrival. When we were seated, our table was up against an outside wall that was a large door, presumably one that would be open in nice weather. However, it was 20 degrees out and there was a massive draft directly on us. I'm not one to complain about a tiny draft, but this was unreasonable. At this point we weren't very optimistic about the night. We mentioned the issue and the staff immediately moved the table to a better location. Our server was prompt and helpful, and soon we had drinks and salads and were in a much better mood. We shared a Caesar salad that was very Mediterranean -- lots of olives and whole anchovies. Overall, very good. For our meals, our server mentioned an off-menu special of Kobe beef, which we both ordered. The steak was perfect and accompanied by a stellar Demi glacé and well matched sides. We blessed out on the food and ended the night full and happy. Additionally, prices were reasonable given the quality of food and service. The decor was minimal -- nothing special, but ok for a place of that size and scope. Finally, on the way out, the staff apologized again for the initial table issues. They fixed the issues so quickly and everything else was excellent, so we had completely forgotten by that point. Overall a very good experience, despite some initial hiccups. I've been here three times within the last year. Lunch is good, but dinner was out of this world! The first time there, I got the steak frites. The waitress pleasantly accepted my request to substitute steamed spinach in place of arugula. Everything was delicious! I got a large part of my steak to go, and the server put a little container of the au jus in my takeout box. That was very considerate, because the au jus is amazingly good! This last week I was there, and my boyfriend and I split an appetizer, dinner, and dessert. We got the Korean BBQ chicken tenders, which have a very interesting, rich flavor. For dinner we got their filet mignon. It's a pound serving, which is a lot of meat - perfectly prepared (rare is the way I like it). Again, I wound up taking some home, and again was given some extra au jus on the side. For dessert we got their "ice cream" sandwich. It was excellent, although the cookies were a little difficult to break apart. Minor quibble. The waitstaff have always been very pleasant and friendly. Kudos to the staff at Fuse! There are not a lot of genuine cocktail bars in Lowell, but Fuse Bistro shines. My wife and I grabbed a seat at the bar and had an excellent experience. The drinks have depth (and are reasonably priced), the food is creative (and delicious), and the service is friendly (and knowledgeable). Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the occasional night of light beer and wings - but Fuse is a great change of pace. This is the third time I've come to fuse for dinner and I love it more and more! Erin was our server and she was very knowledgeable about the food and drink menu. I had the short ribs with gratin potatoes and wilted garlic spinach and my fiancé had the steak frites and they were both amazing :) the best part of the dinner was the apple pie martini with house infused apple pie vodka and the "I butter not" hot coffee drink. Food is pretty good, service is AWFUL. We have been there twice and both times the service was exceptionally bad. We waited an hour to get our food and when it came, some of it was cold. My drink was empty for about 10min before the waitress came over and asked if i wanted a refill. I never usually say anything because 9 times out of 10 its not the wait staffs fault but something needs to change. The couple next to us sat down and waited 15 min before the just got up and left. No one even came to tell them that someone was on their way. If your starving, this is not the place to go...you'll be waiting FOREVER. Try Centro right down the street, at least they will acknowledge you. read more

Fuse Bistro is one of the coolest restaurants in Downtown Lowell. It is in the ground floor of the original Firehouse in the city. You can see remnants of its original use around the restaurant. He best time to go there is on a warm summer day (or evening) so you can sit on the sidewalk cafe along the original cobblestone street in the center of town. It is a one block walk from the parking garage on Middle Street, and a reasonable walk to either the Lowell Memorial Auditorium, MRT, Tsongas Arena or Boarding House Park. The menu is a bit limited, but the food is always good. I highly recommend you check out the Fuse. read more

Went here for the first time last night after hearing bad reviews from a number of different sources. I wanted to sit outside so I figured I would at least give it a try. It was pretty bad... we sat down and waited quite a while for someone to greet us. Drinks took a while, food took a while (and also made me feel kinda sick,) and they messed up our check and charged our cards to a different parties check. We were a party of two and they were a party of five so now we have large holds on our bank accounts which take days to clear up...just in time for the weekend. It was not busy at all... One star because I had to. I could not imagine a worse experience than dining at Fuse, well almost dining. We were a group of eleven people visiting Lowell and made a reservation for lunch. We came in, were given a table, our orders were taken and drinks were served. It was hard not to notice the filthy bathroom and several of the plates had to be replaced due to food stuck from previous diners. Nonetheless we persevered, made conversation and waited for the food to be served. After fifty minutes and noticing that many take out orders were being filled, no one ever approached us, explained what the problem was or apologized and of course no food could be seen. Only three other tables had other diners in the restaurant. Finally, one of us went over to the server complained and then complained again, victory at last, bread and aromatic oil was served. We were still being nice, although at this point we have waited over an hour. Another complaint and at last two of the orders were brought out, soup and grilled cheese sandwiches, both cold and dry. When one of us said that the services was unacceptable, the server said :" if you don't like the service, then all of you, just leave", and so we did. Went to Fuse for lunch today. It was a nice contemporary restaurant with outdoor seating and a modest lunch menu. Overall the service was prompt and friendly and the food was very good. We had an open face steak sandwich cooked per our order, a portabello sandwich which was good but a little lacking of the mushrooms and a crab melt. Portions were large and very reasonably priced. 3 lunches for $30. I would definitely go back. read more

I had the salmon, cooked perfectly and my boyfriend had the fried clams taco. He thought it was not enough clams, and the cabbage was too dry tasting on the tacos.The clams were tasty an cooked perfectly. He ordered a salad, however only oil dressings are available for selection. He was hoping for blue cheese or a creamy selection. The tartar sauce which came with the tacos on the side, tasted bland, needed something extra to give it some zing! The restaurant has a great atmosphere, however maybe a little too dark, as we had difficulty reading the menu. The waiter was patience and pleasant, service was good. Went for lunch with my daughter today - wasn't very busy. Got a table outside. The waitress never told us about the specials. We had to ask for napkins and silverware. Took over 45 minutes for a rueben sandwich and a hamburger - both over cooked. The waitress never came back to see how everything was or if we needed anything. We had to ask for more water. Last night, we went to Fuse for the fourth time. Wow, the place has really gone downhill. We waited at the bar for a table outside. The host said it would be 20 minutes. She didn't keep a list, which concerned us. 30 minutes later, we noticed there were a couple of empty tables outside and the host had just been standing around doing mostly nothing at all. So I went and asked her. She had totally forgotten to seat us and said only "sorry about the wait" with an expressionless face. Our waiter could not have been more unenthusiastic. It was like he wished we would just leave already. He never even smiled. He didn't tell us about the specials, and by the time the food came, we still had no silverware or napkins. The person who brought our food from inside had to go get them for us--neither the host nor the waiter had noticed. The food was decent, but by the time we got it we already did not want to come back. If I managed or owned this place and wanted it to succeed, I would fire the entire staff who was working the patio on 6/27 and start over. NOT a good experience. read more

I would give the food 4.5 stars and the front of the house two stars. Went recently on a busy Saturday night - called and made a reservation but when we got there it was pretty much chaos. Line of folks "waiting" for a table with no hostess and it appeared, no one in charge. Literally, we saw two tables full of folks leave as they could not seem to get their orders taken. (One woman commented "Good Luck" on the way out.) Since we had wondered a bit far from home we decided to stay for a bit. Eventually, they got us a table and once we were seated it was a great experience. The food was really Boston quality at Lowell prices, delicious -- great flavors. The space is fun. We will return but I think we'll pick a less crowded hour to eliminate the chaos. The food was good, though the lamb burger I ordered came well done even though I ordered medium rare. The biggest shortcoming was the service which was sub par. The waitress went to a table next to us three times for every one time she came to us. Service was either slow or surly and we were almost ignored towards the end. I had to wait for fifteen minutes until I went to get a box to pack our leftovers myself. Again she visited the table one over from us three times in that time span. She was only quick when it came to bringing us our bill. Probably won't come back for a while due to our waitresses neglect. read more

I loved this place. Our server, Cheryl, was fantastic---friendly, fun, kind, attentive. We ordered our app., drinks and dinner at the same time. If I had a complaint it would only be about how long it took the food to come out. It was clear that our server was sorry and worried about that. Food was amazing! Crab dip was so good with homemade chips. Blackberry sangria was delicious too. Fish and chips were great and my husband got raviolis with short ribs which he enjoyed. Because of the delay, our amazing server comped us dessert--cookie ice cream sandwich---yum! Food was slow but delicious---but it was actually a blessing getting to take our time and not feel rushed to turn over the table. Great food---great server---fun ambiance. This is a wonderful addition to the Lowell dining scene! The salads were incredibly fresh and thoughtfully composed with delightful little accents. The tuna sandwiches were amazing. I felt like licking the wasabi aioli dish. The chef even cooked the tuna properly. Thanks to Fuse, I now know the importance of truffle salt for the fries. The strawberry basil martini was a treat as well. We weren't even hungry, but got a dessert of pumpkin-blueberry bread pudding. This is a 9.5 of 10 in dining experiences. My only 10 was in Paris. The food is consistently great here, the service varies a lot. I've been here quite a bit and sometimes the service is great, other times I've been completely forgotten. Stumbled upon this great place last friday. Went in and the host let us know that there would be an outside table free in just 5 minutes or so. We sat at the comfortable bar to grab a drink and wait. We were impressed that they had a bunch of local brews on tap. It only got better from there. My date got a Ceasar salad and the salmon. Both excellent! I got the green pizza and a lamb burger. The food was unbelievably good! The atmosphere was also great. I think we found our new favorite place. read more
