Went there today 1/4/26 for breakfast , my wife ordered a strawberry Belgian waffle , when she got it , there was hardly any strawberries on it , so she asked the server if she get a side of strawberries, , the server told her the y would have to cut up more , she lied , 10 minutes later she came out with a small bowl , the strawberries were still frozen in syrup . when the server brought the bill she asked how everything was , my wife told her the strawberries were still frozen , and the server asked if she wanted anything else , my wife no , the sever said that sounds like a plan . grabbed her plate off the table . and walked away . in a huff . the severs name was Hali . not the way to act toward your customers . this is the second time , they have said they will have to get more strawberries . and the always come out frozen. I worked as a prep cook 20 yrs ago . the kitchen is supposed to be prepped for the day . with enough of all items . it was only 8:30 am , when this happened . we will never go back , and i would never recommend this place . they used to be good 10yrs ago , when the other wait staff was there . but the wait staff we used to see have all since left . read more

This place is awesome. Always has great service. The Ambiance is cool. The menu is always abundant, and full of choices, and I have never had a bad meal. You get a good amount of food for the price, and you can watch them cook your food if you sit up at the bar area. Great place. read more

We got very friendly service and a nice breakfast. I ordered the All American with bacon. The bacon and eggs were spot on. It also came with toast and hashbrowns. It's hard to find hashbrowns around here so that was nice. They needed a lot more salt and pepper though. My son got a Mickey Mouse pancake with chocolate chips. Boy are they generous with the chocolate. He certainly was a fan of that. The atmosphere is shooting for a retro look, but doesn't impress. I know it wasn't him personally. it was one of the waitresses but he did reach out to me and apologize and even offered me breakfast on them I declined it, but I truly appreciated how his response was so thank you very much Michael. read more

I have breakfast at Comets diner every Sunday. Their corned beef hash is the most amazing you'll find in New England. The rest of the menu is just as good. The warmed cinnamon buns are out of this world. The lunch is like homestyle cooking where you may get a thanksgiving style sandwich if you're lucky enough to find it on special that day. The staff is incredibly friendly. Led by MiKayla the manager. Who has an Incredible knack of remembering every customers name and always finds the time to say welcome back. The food at this diner is usually spot on. The grilled and buttered cinnamon bun is awesome big enough to share or could be your meal. Homemade brisket hash is the best. Good place for classic diner food. The service is very good the staff is friendly and attentive. It's a classic diner with a Little Rock and Roll playing while you eat. Has really gone downhill. Food was cold, and as such pretty dreary. Eggs had no flavor, bacon was game-y, orange juice is tiny for the price and from concentrate! French toast was ok but again cold. FUNKY DINER. Great food. Really good breakfasts and a good size portion as well. Had omletes with hasbrowns (go for the hasbrowns over the home fries). Also had some eggs bennie as they call them. And, of course, a stack of blueberry pancakes. All were excellent and cooked just right. The bottomless coffee cup hit the spot. And the price cant be beat. Really, really love this place. Consistently great breakfast in good portions - I've made a lot of good Sunday morning memories hanging out with people here. Their homemade hash is absolutely fantastic, and without a doubt the best thing on their menu. Make sure to always get a side of that stuff, no matter what you order. Their bennies are also very good - eggs zeus is usually my go-to if I'm looking for a satisfying meal that isn't just the standard eggs and bacon and all that. My parents like the La Bamba Huevos Rancheros quite a bit, which I wasn't expecting to be great considering it's a breakfast place. Pancakes are solid. If you've had diner pancakes, you know what you're getting. Sometimes I'll get blueberry or chocolate chip ones and it gives it some flavor, but in general, I don't love them. I'm also not nuts about their biscuit and gravy dish, which I wish to god was great, but is only okay. Coffee issssss diner coffee, so not great, but drinkable enough. On the lunch side, I really like their chili and their BBLT. Definitely get those fried chips, too, if you go that route. read more

Comet's is a nice little diner that's a good breakfast choice. The decor is sort of 50's but it doesn't go overboard. Still the fake Pepsi machine on the women's room door has been known to confuse the occasional customer. (Luckily I walked in on her, and she was only using the mirror, still both of us were just a bit surprised.) The breakfast menu has all the usual items all done fairly well. There are also the daily specials, could be just my luck, but it seems steak and eggs is often the daily special. There are two things to remember about the breakfast menu. One is they do a Greek omelet, so that means they have feta cheese in the kitchen. Choose the Farmer's omelet and add the feta, it makes a top-notch breakfasting option. Second, get the hash browns, not the home fries. The home fries are the mass marketed stuff, but the hash browns are made in house and are noticeably better. The wait staff is friendly and pretty efficient. Comet's doesn't push the food instantly, if you want that kind of speed you really should be at a Mickey Ds, but it's not noticeably slow. The place is also family friendly. They have a collection of children's books and assorted items tucked into one corner. Hopefully you can find something to keep the young ones busy till the food arrives. It's a nice little place to consider if you are in the area looking for an early morning nosh. read more

SO like I said...I hit this place up every weekend...usually twice... And my order is pretty much the same... Usually two medium eggs, toast, hash browns... And I've actually been on a little omelet kick lately...kielbasa, colby cheese and onions...with some hash browns and a nicely grilled English muffins. One of our fave staffers, Robin, waited on us this AM...and challenged us to go off the reservation a little bit...and order up some Egg Benedict...Zeus style...which amounts to some spinach, feta cheese and a slice of tomato between each egg and english muffin. Except she threw in her version...and suggested we get it with ham...all copiously covered with some hollandaise sauce. Now, I've had Egg Bennies here a while back...and while I am not the hugest fan of Bennies, they were pretty good. This time, however...wow...Good Call Robin! Now the eggs, at first, actually came out minus one key ingredient...the feta. Mike, the Owner and grill expert extraordinaire, had Robin grab those eggs from us immediately....to make that Greek Zeus proper... Wouldn't have been the same without it...we probably threw him off with our unusual order...lol. Now, this is a ton of food...my phone camera doesn't do it justice, but I did attach a pic. Bring your appetite... Between the good eats...and the awesome staff and the way they take care of us...and all their patrons...this place is tops. Trust me...get a bite there next weekend morning, last weekend before Xmas...and if you walk outta there unhappy, then you just wouldn't know a good breakfast if it hit you upside the head. read more

A-ok diner experience for lunch. Looks like a diner with 50's blue-green counter stools, formica top tables, jukebox in sight, and Coke signature napkin holders. Menu is like a diner with the usual breakfast and lunch fare. Tastes like a diner with just the right amount of grease on a juicy burger. I got the regular burger and fries and my date got the chili burger and onion rings. We both left quite satisfied. Would encourage wait staff to be a bit more attentive and fill up drink glasses half way thru the meal but, other than that, a good solid diner experience. read more

My family and I have visited Comets many times. Below is a typical experience (which I wrote some time ago and am now finishing.) We went on a Sunday morning, about 9 am. It was busy which was typical, although the wait was short. The line at the door isn't "managed" and you seat yourself. The waitstaff seems to know who is next in line and will let you know if you grab a seat too early (let them clear plates and wipe down the table) or miss a party leaving. The food selection is good, typical diner selection, and the prices are reasonable. Drinks were delivered promptly and the food came out quick and as ordered. The food quality is better than I expected and despite the pace of the waitstaff (they seem to buzz rapidly around making sure coffee cups are full) we didn't feel rushed. This place is great for kids too as it has a children's menu or you can order most items a la-cart. In addition there are crayons and coloring books that the kids can go over and pick through. The noise level isn't disturbing but it's also lough enough to make a loud kid not so noticeable. We'll continue to be semi-regular breakfast customers and maybe one day make it by for lunch. read more

Wanted to try something new for breakfast near us, so we drove a bit out of the way to check out Comets Diner. Very retro looking and a bit out dated, but that's what gives the place it's character and diner feel. I liked the old style neon signs, and so did my 1 and a half year old son, which brings me to one of their positives - very kid friendly. They had crayons, books, small toys for the table, a half wall chalk board for kids to draw on as well as a kids menu. My wife, son and I shared a cinnamon bun to start, it was great. We also had some ice coffees which were terrible - watered down & flavorless. I choose the country fried steak for breakfast, which was on the specials board and it was very good. My wife got the Hot Rod omelette (chili and colby-jack cheese) which was awesome! Chili flavor was great, and was definitively a unique omelette option. They also offer A LOT of bread choices with the meal, which is always nice. Eggs were cooked exactly as we asked for them, and were very fresh tasting. Home fries were mediocre at best, lukewarm potatoes with no added flavors. I will try hash browns if there is a next time. The staff did a great job, were very attentive, and checked in with us often. Would have liked for them to ask why we didn't drink our coffees - but not a big deal. I was, however, a little perturbed that when the check came the price for my meal (country fried steak) was different than what was on the board, and when I asked the server, she suggested it was because I got it with a biscuit - but this was never mentioned when biscuit was offered as option. My boyfriend and I had a late breakfast at this kitschy little fifties-inspired diner on our way back from a (short) road trip between NH and Boston. The servers were very friendly: when I ordered a chili dog fifteen minutes before lunch actually started, our waitress asked the kitchen guys without any judge-y eye-rolling or sighing in my direction. Really, that's all I ask. (SO WHAT IF I WANT A CHILI DOG AT 10:45 AM GOD YOU GUYS IT'S MY LIFE.) The food itself was perfectly fine, nothing special. My boyfriend complained that his breakfast burrito was kinda bland, though his home fries were stellar. All in all, this place was cute, and it's always nice to support local businesses. read more

I had the scrambled eggs with corned beef hash and shredded hash potatoes. I really liked how they grilled the corned beef hash to perfection, it had the right amount of crunchiness. The hash potatoes were also grilled to perfection. Overall the meal was not salty which is good because I have high blood pressure. We go here at least once a month for a family breakfast with 2 small energetic kids. They have a bunch of coloring books, crayons, and a giant chalk board to keep the kids occupied. My parents usually order the poached eggs (that they enjoy very much!) and I usually get scrambled eggs with bacon (also delicious). Their pancakes - mickey shaped for the kids of course - are very good along with their french toast. I also like that when you order wheat bread, they actually use whole wheat bread - you can see all the bread packaging etc from the seating since it's an open kitchen. In addition to the good food, the service is awesome - we've never had to wait a long time for our food to come and the staff is very friendly! read more

Stopped in with my wife and a friend for lunch today. Large selection of breakfast and lunch items available, and everything we had was great. We started with the chili fries, followed by a clam roll, Big Bopper burger (double patty with bacon, onions, and mushrooms), and the French Dip'n Sandwich. We attempted to have breakfast at the Comet this morning. Seating at the diner is self service so we found a table and sat down. Shortly thereafter we were served coffee by the gentleman clearing tables. Then we sat and waited, and waited. The waitress walked by our table at least six times and never stopped by our table. Then a large party of 20 came in and were seated near us. The waitstaff started helping them. The waitress walked by our table turned and asked "have you been waited on?", we replied no, and she just walked away. So by now 20 minutes have gone by and we realized that with the large party there was no way we would ever get service, so we got up, left a couple of dollars for the coffee and walked out. read more

Having moved to the area from Boston about 5 years ago, I was glad to find a breakfast place that was closer to the kind of places we used to go to. We have only been for breakfast and I have loved every time. The only reason I am giving 3 stars is because I've had my food come out cold a couple times and the service is metza metza. The place is clean and I like sitting at the counter to watch them cook. The veggie scrambler is to die for and so is the cinnamon roll french toast. I like it alot and it's the only place around me that is good. Don't like Paul's in Westford, don't like IHOP in Littleton and I don't like Dan's in Ayer. read more

Have been eating here for years and wanted to share a sweet story from earlier this week. Brought my kids in here Monday morning for a breakfast date with their Ama. One of the employees saw my 3 year old putting dollars in the "claw" machine trying to win a stuffed animal. After a few failed attempts by my son, the employee came over put his own dollar in the machine and won on the very first try. My kid was ecstatic! It was an awesome moment. Thanks Comets! read more
