Stopped in with my daughter and it was great. We had coffee, chocolate chip pancakes, and a steak bomb Benedict. The waitress stopped by not long after delivering our food with two extra eggs Benedict explaining that the cook had broken one of my yolks and wanted to ensure they both were replaced! Maybe this is usual, but it felt over the top in the customer service to ensure I had a good experience. The diner itself is super cute. We loved the owl theme and old timey diner feeling. I sat with an empty coffee mug for about 12 minutes. I asked for a container to take my food home. I ate next to none of my food yet she never inquired why! Ok this is the cutest diner in the whole world! I absolutely LOVE owls and I had to go check this place out as a diner and owl lover. The parking is limited, but expected, because Lowell.. I ended up getting a spot in front as someone left. Walking inside, you definitely get the old-school diner feel and the waitress behind the bar area greeted us and told us to sit anywhere. It looks like a small place from the outside, but somehow, it kept going and going inside haha The waitress was so nice and was super talkative and kind to all her customers. She knew some of them as regulars and made jokes, small talk, and checked in often. I got a simple order of scrambled eggs and she served it up fast and was quick to make sure I didn't need anything else. Breakfast was delicious and served hot! I went looking for a Americana diner and I found a good one in Owl Diner. When you first arrive it's like your in a scene from a Marvel movie because the exterior looks like the diner the Avengers eat at in the extra scene of The movie. The interior is pure Americana. It looks small from outside but there is actually more seating then what it looks like. They have a good amount of choices especially in the omelet section of the menu. We decided to share in the corned beef hash breakfast and a blueberry short stack. Both was really good. The corned beef hash is seasoned perfectly and the eggs and home fried potatoes were fluffy and flavorful. The pancakes were good and not dry like what was in a earlier review. I had a breakfast wrap that was okay, with a side of home fries that were quite good. Service is friendly and clearly it's a community favorite. This is my absolute favorite place to go for omelettes. I always order the Dutton St omelette (corn beef hash and American cheese), which comes with amazing homefries and toast. My only complaint is that they're not open all day. But their omelettes are SO GOOD. read more

I need to say - this place was great! It was recommended by a coworker and I couldn't be happier! The ambiance is that of an old school diner and it was amazing. The service and food were both phenomenal. (Even saw former Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis walk through!). Got the special - 2 eggs (added a third), three pancakes (added chocolate chips - they were huge!), substituted for a fruit cup, substituted the sausage for more bacon, and got a coffee. Martha had a great omelet, that came with toast & home fries. CON-Parking can be tight. Out front, a few spots, a lot next door, but you might have to park on the street during weekends. Finally took my wife here, guess we had to move to Florida to come back and have me take her to the Owl. Our server was a very cheerful and pleasant woman, wish I caught her name, she made you feel like you ate here every day. My wife went with bacon and eggs and I ham and eggs. My wife commented the bacon was cooked the way I like it, not over cooked, nice and chewy. I then cut her a piece of my ham in which she commented, WOW that is good. Really a 3.5 stars. I had to try Owl when my niece who lives in Lowell pointed it out from the street and said that everyone loves that place. It really is an institution in Lowell. Very old school. It looked packed from the outside, but it was bigger than it looked from the front. We found a nice window booth in the dining area to the right and behind the box car front. The table was covered in advertising from Lowell small businesses. The menu titled "four sisters diner" was given to us. The history if the diner is printed on the front of the menu and I thought it was a nice touch. Coffee was served in a mug full of advertising as well. I had no issue with this. It shows the diner supports Lowell businesses. It also reflects how popular the diner is with the locals. I love the fact that this diner isn't a pork haven like most breakfast places. I got the Irish Benny. I absolutely love corned beef and corn beef hash, so this was perfect. The coffee wasn't great, but what can you expect from a region that hails to Dunkin Donuts. The potatoes weren't bad but nothing to write home about. I'd recommend breakfast at Owl to anyone visiting Lowell, Mass. read more

The Four Sisters Owl Diner is a Lowell landmark and a great little diner, which is open for breakfast and lunch. The front portion of the diner is housed in an old Worcester Lunch Car and attached to a building addition. As you enter, there's a lunch counter with stool seating and the hot grill area behind the counter. There's a separate dining room to the right. The breakfast menu offers the typical breakfast favorites including egg dishes, omelettes (named after Lowell streets), quiche, sandwiches, corned beef hash patties, pancakes, French toast, cereals, home fries, beans, meats, toast, muffins, danishes, fresh fruit, and coffee, juices & milk. The lunch menu offers soup, salads, sandwiches, dinner plates (meatloaf, chicken, steak, liver & onions) and cold drinks. During my field visit along Appleton Street, I stopped in for breakfast and sat at the lunch counter. The waitress offered me hot coffee ($1.50) and I ordered the Quiche ($6.95) with a fresh fruit cup. The Quiche was very heavy with lots of cheese and spinach (Florentine) and very tasty. The mixed fresh fruit cup was a refreshing accompaniment. I was given another refill of coffee during my visit. The service was good and efficient. Officially my favorite breakfast place in Lowell. I love the nostalgic diner car with the retro appliances and juke boxes. The menu is large and diverse enough to make your decision plenty difficult, but if you're in a hurry just close your eyes and point to something - you'll probably end up liking it. I usually go for the Fletcher St. Omelette and am never disappointed- other than the fact that I can rarely finish the whole thing. Sitting at the counter is fun, but there's also booth seating and table seating in a separate dining room. You can park either on the street or in the lot next to the diner, which is a little tricky to find at first, but easy to get in and out of. The first time we went, we were asked if we'd like beans with our order - which is complimentary and an interesting addition to any order. We don't really get asked anymore, but it's still available if you're interested. There's one server I've had a few times that I'm not fond of because she forgets things, mixes up orders regularly, and spends more time flirting with the men in the room (score for the guys) than she does on making sure her guests have drinks on the table- but everyone else is great. If they got rid of that one waitress, I'd give them five stars- no offense to the girl of course- waitressing just isn't her thing. read more

I'm from the south and was up here on vacation and have found that most places don't have that southern hospitality feel I'm used to, so I've been trying to not let that detract too much from my reviews. The service was quick and helpful, but cold and almost a touch unwelcoming, but don't let that deter you from coming. The food was good. Again, it was diner food, but good diner food. A big enough selection, but not too many choices was a very nice thing to see. The food came out very quickly and was hot and fresh. I had the Methuen St Omelette with raisin toast. We came on a busy Sunday morning and were able to find parking, they have an entire lot next to the diner. The only thing is they ONLY accept cash tips.
