Small strip mall diner with minimal decor and furnishings likely financed on shoestring budget. Good crowd, mostly on stools at the counter, looking like regulars. Decent array of offerings. Friendly server. -- Build your Own Omelette: This was my wife's order. Seemed small compared with recent omelette plates elsewhere. She liked it but found it and the accompanying hash browns (homefries are the other option) very plain. Solid enough. -- Pancakes and Sausage: Stack of three, no browning, more of a Twinkie color, and-- come to think of it-- Twinkie flavor. A little dry, needing the syrup. I upgraded to a mini bottle of real maple syrup for $3.99. My wife noticed that the cap had previously been opened and it was refilled. Not a big deal for me, but for those who care, now you know. Ordinary pancakes, but got the job done. The quartet of sausage links were thin but perfectly cooked. No real wow factor, but no real complaints. An adequate breakfast; adequate gets a 3. If I'm comparing it against Rosco's Diner around the corner, I give the food edge to Rosco, the value edge to Rosco, the convenience edge to Doty, and the service fairly even. Stopped in this week for breakfast. Seems the ownership has changed. I was disappointed in the food. I ordered a bacon and egg sandwich. The bacon was way overdone. Certainly crunchy but almost burnt. Prices have gone up quite a bit. I think I'll cross this diner off my list. Too bad. read more

I have a newborn baby at home and was craving an Irish Benedict. Wanting to support a local restaurant but unable to eat in person, I called Doty's (after having a friend track their menu down on Facebook as that is the only place we could find information about their menu - I don't have Facebook). I was initially on hold for 8 minutes - it seemed clear that they had forgotten about me, so I tried calling back. It just rang and rang and no one ever answered. I gave up and ordered from somewhere else. I don't know how the food is here or how the service is in person, but if you want to order for pickup because you aren't able to eat in person, I would suggest finding somewhere else that serves customers over the phone in 2024. And maybe has an actual website and not just a Facebook page. read more

On the recommendation of my older daughter and husband, my younger daughter and I paid a visit to *Doty's Diner* this morning. The restaurant was bright and very clean with local artwork on the walls. Shelly came over to greet us and took our drink order. I am embarrassed to say I asked for coffee, after already having my daily allotment earlier, and my fingers are fairly vibrating as I write this (P.S. the coffee is good). Not only did she bring me a cup, she brought a small carafe as well, first time I've seen this and an excellent idea, considering I am always flagging down wait staff for a refill. Saves me time and saves her time. My daughter got a glass of cranberry juice. It was kind of Shelly to ask whether she wanted ice in it. I asked a few questions about the menu and she very readily answered. We both decided on omelets, my daughter got the vegetarian with home fries and cinnamon raisin toast and I got the three veggie omelet with hash browns. Of course, I asked for a side of bacon... I love good bacon. I am going to rate my meal in parts. The cinnamon raisin toast... *10*. Thick sliced with plenty of raisins and cinnamon sugar swirl. Oh my, so very good. Shelly said they get it from La Marca & Sons in Malden. The omelet... 9. Nothing wrong with this, stuffed with feta, asparagus, and two other veggies (sorry, can't remember). Hash browns were _perfect_, best I've ever had. Bacon... 7.5. Bacon just wasn't crispy enough for my liking, but it tasted ok. The prices were slightly less than typical, we got out of there on less than $45 dollars (not including tip). I know, it sounds like a lot, but typical for these economic times, I'm afraid. They're open Wed-Fri from 7:00am-1:00pm and Sat-Sun from 7:00am-12:30pm. And here's the teaser for next time... they offer Ruebens! Might bring my sister along for that one. read more

Doty's Diner is now open in the Summer Street Crossing plaza in Chelmsford. They are open 6 days a week serving breakfast and lunch. The place is pretty cozy which has tables in front, along the wall, & in the middle, plus counter seating. The breakfast menu offerings consist of omelettes, eggs, pancakes, French toast, waffles, breakfast sandwiches, corned beef hash, breakfast sides. They brew New England Coffee here. The lunch menu offerings consist of sandwiches, salads, soups, chili, French fries, onion rings, chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, plus a children's menu. I stopped in here for Sunday breakfast and the place was steady busy. I arrived just as the table I was going to sit at was being cleared off. I took a moment to look over the menu for deciding what I wanted. I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki Omelette ($10.99 plus tax) served with home fries and choice of toast. My entree arrived 10 minutes after ordering, piling the big omelette and home fries onto this little oval plate, buttered marble rye toast on a separate plate. The chicken teriyaki omelette was a thick fluffy egg folded over plenty of tender marinated grilled chicken, green peppers, onions, sliced mushrooms, provolone cheese. This omelette was an excellent choice and perfectly done! The grilled home fries were soft, browned and seasoned nicely. There was also Smuckers jams on the table and Coffeemate creamers. I finished all of my food as the check was dropped off. It was a fantastic breakfast at Doty's Diner in the midst of being very busy. read more

We went there for breakfast, and it's a local favorite. Food was excellent (I think it's the same people who started Paul's Diner in Westford) and service was great and homey. Nice local art (for sale!) on the walls. The space is a little tight, but it didn't seem to get in the way of enjoying the meal. read more

When you call yourself a "diner" you enter a sacred contract. This place has the spirit and the over easy eggs to earn that title with aplomb. Quick service, a bar of stools populated by hoary locals, all packaged up in a clean, new setting give me hope that diners will persevere evening if the classic dining cars of yore rot away. read more

It's funny, we drove by this plaza where this restaurant was located and we didn't know it was there so we decided to go back and try it the next day. This place was fantastic. We ate breakfast this morning. My husband had the eggs Benedict with hash and shredded potatoes and I had pancakes, eggs and bacon. We ordered, got our coffee immediately with an extra pot we could pour more on our own. I swear in about 2 minutes we received our meals and they were fantastic. We will be back again real soon. I don't know if they are super short staffed right now or what is going on but I ordered a regular breakfast. The pancakes were rubbery, the scrambled eggs even more rubbery and overdone, and they forgot my hash browns and when they finally got to the table they had barely been cooked. Oh, and for two of us it was almost $50 with tip. Maybe we got them on a bad day, but we don't plan on going back again. read more

Doty's Diner is a five-star diner serving fantastic diner style food in a friendly, cozy atmosphere with five-star service. My brother, along with our wives, visited the diner on June 28th for a brunch date. We were seated immediately at a spotless table that offered a touch quiet, intimate dining allowing easy communication as we are somewhat hearing limited. The menu offered a full array of wonderful breakfast and lunch choices which satisfied all four of us. The food was prepared quickly and was presented nicely, still hot from the kitchen to satisfy our taste finicky taste buds. Should have reviewed this place months ago. I only rate this place 5 stars because 10 isn't available. My wife and are there EVERY Sunday. Love ANY dish I get there. Every one there is warm, cordial and inviting. The food is always hot and delicious. Prices are surprisingly reasonable even in these days of skyrocketing food costs. Paul Doty and his wife Barbara have recreated the same homey environment that Mr Doty's old place in Westford had when they were there. We heard good things about this place, but were extremely disappointed with it. I ordered a Greek omelet and asked that the onions be cooked very well. The omelet was loaded with raw onion . I couldn't eat it. My granddaughter ordered pancakes and they were like rubber. Neither of us were able to eat our food. the prices were crazy expensive. $3.00 for a cup of orange juice and almost $3 for a cup of awful tasting coffee. The coffee was suppose to be bottomless, but even if I did want another cup, the waitress was nowhere to be found. The place was busy, but for a Sunday morning I would expect a wait-there was none. When the waitress finally came to take our money she returned with the bills but no coins. They round up and you don't get coins back which begs the question, why charge 7.79 for a side of bacon (4 slices) rather than be honest and state that the charge will be $8? We won't return. There are too many better places for breakfast in and around Chelmsford. read more
