The ambiance is old country store-ish, and has its charm. The customer base includes plenty of regulars, and the service is welcoming and pleasant. But the food really wasn't all that great, generally speaking. Sure, there are some things that are always a hit - like their milk (ask to see their cows), their ice cream and butter. The coffee is ok. The bread is ok. Eggs are kinda mass produced, as is the bacon which is often piled up in the kitchen to help move it along. It's jut not all fresh off the grill, as we might prefer. My mom and kids all agree that it is more of a "last place to go if we have no other options" kinda place.

Veggies creatively placed both inside and on top. -- Home fries: Plentiful and crisp, but I think no seasoning other than paprika. Bland. -- Pancakes: Nicely browned, but a little bland. Decent. Decent juiciness and flavor. -- Coffee: Better than Jiffy Lube, but most of the fast food places have better coffee. -- Service: Cordial but distant. Overall, good enough to get the job done if we're in the area and need breakfast now. But not destination-worthy, nor likely to join the breakfast rotation.

I liked that they had oat milk for my coffee, so many restaurants don't. I ordered the traditional breakfast and hubby got a sandwich and soup. My eggs were ordered over medium but came out closer to over hard. I wanted the bacon crispy but it was far from it. There is no alternative to the seasoned potatoes. Large portion of potatoes. I could see some of the potatoes were browned but many looked like they didn't touch the grill. I didn't care for the seasoning, too much paprika for me. Hubby's sandwich had turkey on it but he said it was pressed turkey and very salty. The soup was fine. The server was good, no complaints about her. We were not rushed to leave. I'm glad I had the coupon to try the restaurant. I don't think I'll be going there again as there are other breakfast places that I think are better.

Here's a fresh new spot hot off the press! Debuting only a few months before writing this review,…read moreFirst Watch is immediately kicking ass and taking names in the food industry. Why are they called First Watch? Don't know! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But if I had to guess.. I think it's because they put *you* first. They look out for your comfort as you dine amidst their cozy decor, enjoying some of the most refined breakfast, brunch, and lunch items this part of NH has seen in a while. At least....that's what the "You first" section of their homepage told me. Now, of course, wifey was the one to first mention this place to me as a breakfast date possibility. Apropos that, I took a gander at their Yelp page. And despite them having only 15 photos of their menu items, I was immediately intrigued. I even knew what I wanted to try first. The Tri-Fecta®: The image alone sold me. Their waffles look golden crisp, yet light and airy. Accompanied only with the very best REAL maple syrup, it's the best damn waffle I've had in ages! This also comes with 2 eggs and choice of breakfast meats. Ya know I had to get the bacon extra crispy, of course. In keeping of plebeian fashion, I opted for the scrambled eggs this time. To say they were as velvety as crème fraiche would be underselling them. All they needed was a touch of seasoning and they were near perfect scrambled eggs. All in all, a 9 out of 10 for me. Highly recommended to all. Wifey got the same thing, only with a pancake and eggs over-hard. Sufficed to say, it was quite the delectation. I added a side of the seasoned home fries to mine because I was curious. They tasted great, but were also big enough to feed at least 2.5 persons. Needless to say, I took the rest home to accompany another homemade breakfast for a different day. Yeah...they were THAT good! Oh, quick side note: I asked about the "Million Dollar Bacon" since there isn't really a description on the menu. The server told us it was, like...Maple bacon with some sort of candy sprinkled on top? I don't really get it, but I'm sure there's some 7 year-old out there ordering this and having the time of their life at their parents' expense and dismay. XD Service was naturally sublime, as was the decor. It really has a classic, woodland New England vibe. That's the best way I can describe it, but hopefully you get what I'm trying to say. Also on full display here is their contemporary nature. You can scan-to-pay tableside via QR code which invariably means Apple and Google Pay are alive and well here; always a huge plus in my book! Public Wi-Fi is available, but also unsecured so....highly recommend using a VPN if you're doing personal transactions and whatnot. Overall, an experience most divine that's worth repeating many times over. I have my eyes set on an omelet situation next visit, though....I'm not seeing any options for customizing. Not to worry though. I'm sure they can accommodate revision. I'm giving First Watch 5 golden crisp Belgian Waffles doused in REAL maple syrup out of 5.

One guy-- Rosco himself-- running the whole show. -- Pancakes and Sausage: Very large and thick pancakes, so two were more than enough. More importantly, a nice slightly sweet flavor elevated even further by a perfect browning from the griddle. Somewhat but not fully fluffy (my gold standard is Palace Diner in Maine). Real maple syrup available for a $2 surcharge, but a bargain for the large 5oz cup of it. Sausages fairly humdrum, but solid. It's the pancakes that'll get me back. -- Veggie Omelette and Home Fries: This was my wife's order. I'm not sure if it's because she omitted the toast, but it was a gigantic serving with an equally generous portion of the potatoes.
