While Shaws has been a staple for years, it seems like they are kinda stuck in the past, albeit with smaller portions and higher prices. The ambiance is old country store-ish, and has its charm. The customer base includes plenty of regulars, and the service is welcoming and pleasant. But the food really wasn't all that great, generally speaking. Sure, there are some things that are always a hit - like their milk (ask to see their cows), their ice cream and butter. The coffee is ok. The bread is ok. Eggs are kinda mass produced, as is the bacon which is often piled up in the kitchen to help move it along. It's jut not all fresh off the grill, as we might prefer. My mom and kids all agree that it is more of a "last place to go if we have no other options" kinda place. read more

Maybe it's different if you're white, but I got a lot of stinky side eyes from the old people in there. The food was a small-ish portion of poorly made diner food but at downtown steakhouse prices. Was very disappointed ordered an omelette actually ordered two omelettes one was the correct way nice and bright and yellow. The other one it looked like Sunnyside eggs up, folded to look like a omelette waitress never checked with us to see if we wanted coffee. Thankfully, the wait wasn't excruciatingly long. But were we too eager? Inside was bit gloomy. I think the old school cafeteria look was ruining it for me. The food was underwhelming. Stuffed French Toast- There's no shortcut when it comes to making a good stuffed French Toast. When I cut this in half, there were freshly chopped up blocks of cold cream cheese between the toast. This should have been whipped and the fruits were soggy. Irish Benedict- Nicely poached eggs on toasted English muffin, however, the corn beef and cheese sauce was flavorless. Have been here many times. Average place for reasonably priced breakfast and lunch around Lowell/Dracut with plenty of parking space. However, service, food quality, and portion sizing varies and changes depending on who is working that particular day. My bf and I went twice in one week, at fairly similar times of the day, and were shocked at the difference in service and food quality we received just 2 days after the day we went earlier in the week. 1. Food portion sizes, quality, and preparation are not always the same and inconsistent. I ordered the same thing both times, but the Irish Benedict looked totally different in quality and portion sizes. 2. Most of the older women waitresses besides this one woman who is always very sweet can come off as rude and very off putting, but all the younger servers are always very kind and welcoming. read more

My breakfast of Eggs Benedict with home fries and my friends GIANT meal of 2 huge pancakes, a plate of home fries and 4 pieces toast altogether came to just $20 and 33 cents! I wish I could give them more stars if I could! We've been to brunch all over Boston and eastern MA, but Shaws is by far the best we've ever had. Their Hollandaise sauce is creamy, tangy perfection; no one else's even comes close. Seriously. I could wax poetic about it and would buy it in bulk if it was available. Their eggs Benedict is better than any of the expensive, posh brunch places in at least a hundred mile radius. The decor is warm & inviting, with quaint sayings on plaques all around the restaurant. It is always clean, bright, and cheery. The staff are always warm and friendly, and our favorite waitress, Amy, always remembers our names and who we are, even when it's been a couple of months since we've been in. We won't miss the inconsistent, and often mediocre brunches we've had in Lowell and the surrounding area, but we will definitely miss ML Shaws!! read more

Really bad first impression. I was super excited to try this place because breakfast is one of my fav meals but wow i was a bit upset. BUT I WILL GIVE IT A SECOND CHANCE. Felt like all of our food was a bit soggy u could say. As soon as i put a bit of hot sauce on anything just turned to mush. Corned beef hash wasn't even pan fried at all very mushy. Home fries looked good until i tried them. Pancakes just fell apart as soon as a little of syrup hit them. Like i said i will try this place once again but first impression wasn't all that. First time at ML Shaws was a very good experience. Everyone talks highly about it so I was excited to see for myself. When I went there was a line, had to wait a few minutes. Their menu has a lot of options, I went with the "Village breakfast" eggs, bacon, home fries (my favorite) crispy kind not soft and mushy... I also got a french toast to check it out. Their chocolate milk is soo good, it's very creamy like. I have to mention the portions are HUGE, make sure you come with an appetite! M.L. Shaws is probably the best local breakfast place in the Dracut and Lowell area. the quality, service and price is well worth the wait in line on Sundays. I've had their corned beef hash omelette's, Village and Country breakfast, French Toast, and Pancakes, all wonderfully delicious, consistent in portion and quality. I miss living around Boston. It is a sad state of affairs when people consider ML to be the best Dract has to offer. ML Shaws is mediocre at best. The homefires are deep fried and completely uninspiring. The vegetables in the omelette are boiled. The bacon appears to be cooked the night before and then reheated. The scrambled eggs are pretty good, but really the only reason to come here is for the chocoloate milk. It is a good thing they are owened by the dairy farm. Do yourself a favor and go somehwere else for a good breakfast. It is not that far of a drive to lowell or nashua. read more

Was going there every morning before work for almost two years. Good food great great staff and the the pandemic happened. Had to cook breakfast at home every morningbut it was ok. Finally things were getting back to normal, work was work but breakfast was what gave me that extra boost in the morning. Then just recently I ordered breakfast sandwiches for a coworker and myself stopped at the ATM because I liked paying cash that way I can tip them well. So once I got to the ATM I realized I left my wallet at home, so I kindly called them instead of just not showing up because I now live over 50 miles away and I can't just run home and grab my wallet. Thinking they would be like don't worry you can pay us tomorrow I guessed wrong because I told her I forgot my wallet she said "so you can't pay for the food then have a good day and that was very unexpected. Previous to that day they would even call me by my first name when answering the phone, I felt kinda special. I guess not that special. I'll miss there breakfast. read more
