Tried comets diner for the first time and loved it. My omelette was golden brown fluffy and mouth watering. My chorizo hash was perfectly crispy with a nice kick to it. Portions are average size not big or too small. More importantly the prices are fair and the quality of the food is terrific. My husband and I have been going there for 3 yrs. After our service today we won't return. I ordered a tuna melt it came as a toasted tuna with a slab of cheese. I mentioned it to the blonde/older waitress and she cut me right off did not want to hear about. She was extremely rude, I had to ask my husband to hold back as he was extremely upset with the way she just dismissed me. We have always enjoyed going there - food is decent but the service needs a good look at! If you get the blonde waitress ask for another table!!!!! read more

Let me start off by saying that it was my boyfriends and I first time at this place so we didn't know what to expect. We walked through the door, waited for a waitress to seat us. So we stood for a few minutes. The waitresses were just looking at us. Finally, someone said to us "oh you can find a seat". I was like okay, you didn't bother to let us know. The waitress took our drink order then said she would come back and take our order. A family comes in, she seats them and takes their drink order, walks by us again without taking our order. Then she goes to help another table and walks by us AGAIN. Mind you, it wasn't busy at all. Finally we got up, and payed for our drinks and left. We ordered Ruben sandwiches which came with about one tablespoon of sourcrout. When one of us asked for more sourcrout, they brought about two tablespoons in a dish and charged one dollar for it. Popped in there for lunch with my mom and two young kids. We were the only party waiting for a table to open up but no one even acknowledged our presence until tables were starting to get wiped down. The staff is friendly but the service is not good. My mom and I ordered breakfast and it was decent- nothing special. But the kids meals were awful. They both got the cheeseburger & fries. One basket got 5 fries and the other got double that amount. One cheeseburger was decent but the other one was basically a charred meatbal on a huge adult bun. I complained to the waitress and her answer - "the kids burgers are smaller than the adults" Brilliant. I continued to explain the problem and she said that she would let the mumble mumble know. I was surprised to find that the burger was still on the bill! We were also barely out of our booth when someone was coming over with a rag to wipe down the table. There wasn't even anyone waiting. So tried this diner for the first time. Pros are that the staff is friendly and hardworking as it was very busy. Food was good. Only drawback was that we sat at the portion of counter where you see the cooks right in front of you so when our breakfast sandwiches were put on English muffins instead of the breads we ordered they were disassembled and put on the bread as we watched...gooey cheese, egg and hash then I saw 1 of the english muffins put back on the grill. As I said they were busy and Im sure if I hadnt seen it happen it would've never known but I did and it was kind of offputting. read more

We're always looking for local places to go for breakfast. Had a great veggie omelette, with hash browns, and a side of kielbasa. So much food I could only eat half of it. For a diner, the food was average. We had the steak and cheese omelet that was not just shaved steak, but real tender chunks of steak. One waitress was pleasant and seems to enjoy her job. The other, not so much. I'm not sure why people raved about the hash browns. I could have made the same with no effort. The atmosphere was like walking back in time in a good way. We ate at the Comet once a week going to or from Nashua. I'm tired of the bad food. the-corned beef hash was dry. the potatoes are small, cold and hard. My lunch companion had a raw hamburger that the waitress didn't take kindly to bringing it back to the kitchen to be re-heated. Why did this waitress have to have a bad attitude when the food is not cooked correctly? She's the one not wearing a Comet shirt. Then she started to call my companion "honey" and checking with us several times if everything was ok. Yeah I get it that the prices are ok. So I'll eat bad food as long as the prices are low? I don't think so. I will not lower my standards and I'll spend my money somewhere else. On a last note. They have an old grumpy, disheveled man who seems to come around the table and ask if drinks are wanted. He doesn't smile and grumbles when talked to. A family diner should be a welcoming place with decent food. I know it's not the Ritz (I've had breakfast at the Ritz). read more

Only been here twice, both times the breakfast was excellent, the waitress was attentive and kept coming back to fill my coffee cup. The music is at a nice level sound wise, and oldies music it was fun to hear some oldies. The size of my breakfast was just right actually a lot and tasty. Hash browns were excellent. Great kid friendly retro breakfast diner, a surprise considering it is in a small strip mall. Food is excellent especially banana chocolate chip pancakes for grandchildren. Adult choices great especially homemade corned beef hash. Coffee and crayons arrive at the table immediately. Soon after one of the staff came by with a Micky Mouse phone telling our 4 year old that she had a call. All star ending (if you are lucky) occurred when Santa Claus came in for breakfast (actually a local man who becomes Santa at Christmas with gorgeous white beard but happily acted as Santa on vacation for astonished grandchildren). read more

Overall we enjoy this place for family breakfast. Food is pretty decent. I love the hash and breakfast sandwiches are great. My children love the Mickey pancakes. Service is hit or miss - depends on who you get. Last few times our waitress was great (dark hair and glasses) but there's been a few times (younger girl with long brown hair) has been a bit irritating because she isn't very attentive. read more

My first time breakfast experience wasn't very good. The orange juice was thin/weak, generic flavorless pancakes (probably General Mills standard mix) had the consistency of play dough, and brown-n-serve sausages. The eggs were OK. The food was standard diner food and would of gotten a better review if I didn't happen to watch the egg cook crack eggs, get raw egg on his hand, not wash his hands and then grab sausages and omelet ingredients from inside the food station or whatever you call it. It made me not want to eat my food. During the course of my stay I watched this happen repeatedly and almost threw up in my coffee mug. I'm surprised no one has gotten sick from this place. First time here and never going back. Wear some gloves or wash your hands! Practice some hygiene for crying out loud you are serving the general public! Used 1/2 off coupon for breakfast to try this place. . Cook needs to do less chit chat and cook the food. Should also refrain from eating while handling food and more importantly. Wear GLOVES. This is my favorite diner in the area. Although all diners are recognized for their homey, local color, Comets Diner boasts the friendliest waitstaff and best food for the money. I have eaten hear many times, and it's the same greasy mess every time, so I felt they needed a review to set them straight, just maybe they will fix it and I'll try again some day. Personally I'm surprised anyone eats at Comets other than convenience of location. The bacon is always overcooked and taste of old grease, the hash brown's are also greasy and taste of old grease, possibly cooked to hot, not sure but they don't give you enough to worry about anyways. They must be on a hash brown conservation because they are pretty stingy serving them! I could go on an on, but my recommendation to Comets is slow down and possibly turn down the heat. Even the eggs are burnt around the edges. Serve better bacon, thicker and not burnt, burnt bacon is nasty and believe me your serving nasty. And that whinny waitress that calls everybody Hunny, enough is enough, your driving people nuts including your own staff commented on it. Just stop it. Please ask the remaining patrons what else you can do to fix your restaurant and hopefully you'll listen and someday I'll come back. Good Luck your going to need it. read more

Been looking for a GOOD restaurant in the area for GOOD breakfast and finally found one at Comets Diner. My wife had the breakfast burrito and I had the steak and eggs and was offered a choice of steak tips instead and I made the right choice with the steak tips. The servings are ample and priced right. This will be my go to restaurant going forward. read more

My summery of this place is the service is horrible and the food is okay. I wont be rushing back there any time soon. I had heard great things about Comets so I wanted to give it a try. I would say it was a huge waste of time and money. I sat at the side of the counter so I had a nice view of the guys cooking but getting waited on took a while. The cooks actually had to send a waitress over because they saw us sitting there for a while. Cooks where amazing to watch all they do with 3 guys in a little spot. That was amazing. The menu STINKS, let me explain, we had to pull the waitress over 4 times asking "what's in a____?" I don't know about you but I'm not a professional on breakfast foods and names of omelets and know exactly what's in them. Their menu should state what ingredients are in these things or a description of what they are. We were there 45mins at least before we ordered because we just didn't know what anything was. Especially for anyone who has any allergy or dietary restriction I feel its very important to have a description of what is in the dish, not just western omelet and the description saying something about an old classic but nothing about the ingredients. Waitress seemed annoyed with all our questions and we almost just said lets just go... who would have known after getting the food we would have still wished we had left. Home fries were burnt this time too. Omelet we ended up getting was decent. Portions are big, but I would have paid so much more for smaller portions for better service and overall experience. read more
