You are greeted as you walk in this old time diner. It is an old style diner aesthetics and all. They took our order brought us coffee and the food was out in a flash. Here we never had an empty cup of coffee or water. There was plenty of delicious food on the plate. My plate had an omelette and country potato and toast. It was made to perfection. Maybe Frannys Diner should stay open till their hours posted. We usually get there at 1:30-1:45 and today it was 1:40 and they had everything shut down. First time here. We walked in this morning and stood there for 5 minutes before someone came over to seat us. When we sat down, there were long hairs all over the booth seat- it was gross. They obviously didn't wipe it down. The floors were DISGUSTING. There is no way they wash the floors regularly. There is months worth of dirt and grime on the floors. I immediately told my husband we needed to leave- between the hair all over the booth, the disgusting floors, and no one coming over to seat us or greet us. He agreed we would not eat at a place where the floors are that dirty. If the floors and booths are that dirty, imagine what it looks like behind the counter where customers don't see. Pretty good diner for a small town. Service was good but took a while for food to come out possibly due to shortage of staff. Overall it wasn't bad. I think it is overpriced tho a glass of orange juice was 5$ and it wasn't even fresh OJ. Also they don't have espresso either so that was a miss. The hash browns were really good and the waffles weren't bad but sugary. They are small waffle sizes now which is great for people who don't wanna eat a whole waffle but these photos prior were deceiving showing a different waffle. Keep that in mind. Had a wonderful meal here with my son. Enjoyed a delicious burger that was cooked to perfection. Staff were attentive and pleasant even though it was packed. Often restaurants forget they are first in the hospitality arena and clearly Breen's emphasizes that with their wait staff as the service is top notch, friendly and efficient without being obtrusive. My Turkey Club Sub was amazing, the sub roll was excellent one of the very best. Flavorful tender turkey slices with tomatoes lettuce and bacon and mayo make up the sub. The bacon was truly mind blowing if I could buy it by the trunkful I would make a serious effort to do so on a regular basis. Even the mayo was something special. If you are a coleslaw devotee then you are gonna love Breen's cause it is a standout amongst the sea of make believe wanna be coleslaws. The food was okay, but it wasn't anything special. I remember the waitress being nice, but the experience wasn't memorable at all and I don't really forsee going back ever again. Overall the food just wasn't my thing, but there wasn't really anything wrong with it. Most of the other people with my enjoyed their meals however so it may have just been me. Breen's Diner invokes memories of my gradual understanding of what makes a great breakfast. Sundays at Rollie's in Lynn to the Swampscott Bickford's (Lynn side) to Normans 2 in Holliston and the incomparable (until now) Lou Roc's. Breen's, I'm happy to say, has raised the bar. Our server Kayla was prompt as she was pleasant. The young gentleman behind the counter greeted us warmly and of course the brilliant Chefs, ladies both, gracefully suffered my truculent praise. Fantastic place! As a former Sous Chef I am beyond impressed with their Irish Benedict. I finally found a spot that has chunks of corned beef in their homemade corned beef hash. The Benedict is on a whole different level here. I can't speak highly enough about the quantity and quality of their Benedict's here. Very satisfied and true comfort food. They also gave us no high fructose ketchup packs which was the ferry on top of everything. The only knock we have is that they didn't give us enough syrup for their huge pancakes so make sure you ask for more. read more

Went to Breen's Diner as a party of four on a Sunday morning. We only had to wait about 5 minutes for a booth to clear. Decor is old-timey diner, but clean with a good amount of seating and staff. We all ordered coffees to start which came out promptly. I had a griddled blueberry muffin and egg wrap with bacon and onion. The muffin was amazing, full of blueberries and nice touch of vanilla. The egg wrap was slightly disappointing. Way too much overcooked and under seasoned egg and not enough toppings. We also ordered the chicken and waffles (fried boneless chicken tenders) which was good, another egg wrap which that person liked, and a egg, cheese and bacon on a croissant which was also good. We did not like the $3 extra charge for real maple syrup. Fairly inexpensive overall and good breakfast. I would like to come back for lunch (not served on Sunday) as I hear that is great. read more

Breen's is a 50's style diner right in the heart of Pepperell next to the bike trail. This place is everything you could hope for in a local breakfast spot. The food is incredible. The big bopper special, the twist breakfast bowl, and the mouth watering breakfast burrito are all on point. Coffee is hot and good. The service often makes or breaks diners and the staff at Breen's is awesome. They are super attentive, fast, and pleasant. Prices are very reasonable. A little about lunch too. Eggs any way you want them. Bacon the way it should be cooked. Pancakes bigger than the plate. Too much food, always take it home for lunch (many hours later) or breakfast tomorrow. Omelets are overstuffed and delicious. Service is super prompt and friendly but not too "in your face". Very good usually. Best hash anywhere. However the last two times there I wanted the Irish eggs Benny. One time out of hash, the second out of hollandaise...disappointed. Today I went and was (very unusually dissapointed) - probabably because of my mis-ordering. I got the hash browns instead of potatoes and they were hard (not crispy, but hard - needed a knife to break them up and very greasy. The bacon was also very greasy (undercooked?) with pooling on the plate. Asked for ketchup and given a bunch of packets for me to open (no bottle). Don't like that. Maybe it saves some money or less subject to germs? Although a complaint about just today, still highly recommended. The biscuits and gravy are tremendous. A half portion with (maybe an extra biscuit once you have finished the first). Wait staff is tremendous and very friendly. read more

Not bad, but a little more Spic and Span. Waitresses are young and sweet.....but never ask how your meal is after you started eating it. They've finally fixed up the old Spa in Pepperell Center, across from the rail trail. It's now a fun 50's diner with a counter on the left and new bench seating along the right - and a jukebox in the rear. I had coffee, raisin bread french toast with real maple syrup and bacon (well, actually sausage cuz they ran out of bacon - typical new restaurant woes) - all for $11. The food was fine, the coffee better than average diner coffee, and the wait staff was very friendly, though a bit scattered. I'm looking forward to coming back and seeing what lunch is like. read more

Biking on the Nashua River Rail Trail, my group and I were told about Breen's by other bikers. On our way back to Ayer from Nashua, we decided to stop. Waling through the door was like taking a time machine to the 1950's. The diner has a juke box, posters of Elvis and Marilyn Monroe, and period furnishings throughout. But the best feature, without a doubt, was the food! My friend and I split the reuben sandwich with a side of homemade potato chips and a kosher dill pickle. Others had the mackerel sandwich with fries and an omelet made with (apparently) 5 eggs, accompanied by home fries and toast. The service was prompt and cheerful, and the ambiance of the place was small-town welcoming. The reuben sandwich was the best I have eaten in my 71 years, hands down!
