The coffee and tea were both very smooth. The pork hash was really flavorful and well cooked. The barbecue sauce is on the sweeter side and at certain bites dominated the flavor profile. something in the dishes made us super lethargic afterwards. i don't normally daytime nap but took one when i got home. read more

We love it here! Salt & Light makes all their pastries and breads in house which is really rare in the cafe industry these days! We have tried the pop tarts, croissants, muffins and breads here. Our favorite morning pastry is the vanilla custard filled croissant. If you ask for it warmed before serving, it is simply to die for. I wish I was eating it right now! The owner and workers here are all so friendly. We have bought High Brow coffee beans from here and the light and dark roasts are both great. The coffee and offerings are obviously delicious as well. My only critique would be that I wish Salt & Light made their own oat milk or used a healthier brand option. They use the brand Oatly as their oat milk offering to customers. Oatly milk is absolutely terrible for you and can cause gut bloat due to poor ingredients, etc. But, other than that, we love it here and hope to come back soon :) read more

This spot is busy from open to close and you can tell the team works hard to keep up with high demand. The place is beautifully decorated, clean and modern feel. Seating options include traditional tables and chairs on one side of the café, an island with barstools in middle, and a cozy setup with couches and a coffee table on the other side. Their breakfast and lunch menu is impressive. We tried the plate (potatoes, bread, eggs, bacon , the veggie avocado burrito, and pancakes--everything was satisfying to the eyes and belly. It is clear they're offering a healthier take on classic mom-and-pop diner food. The food was good, and the drinks were also enjoyable. The coffee with lavender syrup was warm and comforting. We also had an American flat white and a cold matcha latte, though the matcha latte was the only item I don't recommend (tasted of milk only and lacked matcha flavor). We have driven by this cafe countless times and did not know it was here. I am so thankful for Yelp for helping us find it. Located on Main Street in Groton is this charming cafe. It is well decorated. The staff were prompt and friendly. The baked goods were beautifully displayed. The food was fresh and flavorful. We went for breakfast. My daughter had a donut and a bagel with lemonade. I had a honey butter sea salt bagel with ice green tea and my husband had The Goat and Guac Breakfast Sandwich which he said was one of the best sandwiches he ever had and he's had a lot of breakfast sandwiches. We went on a Sunday morning which probably wasn't a great idea in retrospect because it was so busy. But we were still able to grab a small table before our food was ready. I had the lemon ricotta pancakes which were delightful, loved the maple butter. My partner had the BEC and was content. This is my favorite local espresso and latte. Any of their coffee options are top notch within a many mile radius. I am not crazy about their baked goods which are, as the kids say, "mid", but they're not bad either! Just very home style I would say. Which might be what you're after, so I don't want to put you off. The food menu, however, is great. I love their lemon buttermilk silver dollar pancakes - so so yummy. I might be misremembering, but I think sometimes they do a blueberry option? So good. Also their seasonal coffee syrups are amazing and should be tried. I like that they innovate on flavors and also keep some basics going all the time because that's what you need in a coffee brunch spot. It's more breakfast style plates, but the lunch options are good and filling. Finally, the ambience is perfect for a little local coffee shop and I love that they have a small but curated selection of premium teas and coffees for sale as well as some cute merchandise in the form of t shirts, cards, and the BEST candles. I love sitting in their bench seating by the window or along the wall, but the other side with a couch is also very cozy. I wish the couch area had a few more couch or armchair options as it is a large area that is often full, but it really is absolutely lovely and the large windows that have views on to the mansions along Main Street is a wonderful position of interest. I recently had the opportunity to check out Salt & Light after being curious about it for so long, and it is fantastic--one of my new favorite spots in the area. And for those of us who have a nut allergy, the entire cafe is nut-free (and advertised as such), which is amazing, and it is truly a joy to come and visit. The food is also delicious. I've tried both the bacon breakfast burrito & the brisket breakfast sandwich--both very flavorful and hit the spot. I've also tried some of their pastries--the raspberry pop-tart so far being my favorite! The service has been consistently kind, and I always look forward to coming back. Donut review now, full review later. This is a nice little place (wooden floors, couches, big wooden tables) with very nice people. My wife and I enjoyed a pancake breakfast here--with some excellent coffee, I might add-- and I was planning to post a review after trying the lunch options, but COVID-19 got in the way. I'll do that later, but for now, onto the donuts: If you've ever been to Union Square Donuts, the donuts are very similar: around $3 each, a brioche-y underlying donut, and some high quality ingredients going into the creative toppings. I'd say USD outdoes them on the toppings, but the underlying donut here is better: less stiff (though still a little stiff on one of the three visits), and a little lighter. Flavors change frequently, so check the menu and their social media often. Vanilla Buttercream: Freshly extruded as a ring around the plain donut and still soft. Really nice flavor, and not something cheap; there's effort put into this. Think of it as the frosting on a birthday cake from a French bakery, not a BJ's. Glazed: Subtle. Not as sweet as most, which can be good or bad, depending on your personal preference. It's a white glaze, not a clear one. Chocolate pieces: Also subtle. Basically a glazed donut with a dusting of chocolate. A little disappointing. Lemon zest: Impressive topping, with thick, sweet/tart icing and pieces of lemon zest for both flavor and texture. The donut underneath was a little long in the tooth but same day and doable. Mocha: A two-phased topping of chocolate dip with ground coffee beans on top. Though attractive, this one was the thinnest of toppings and didn't really pack much chocolate or coffee wallop. Lemon with lavender: This was probably the best donut we had from there, taking that same lemon icing and adding candied lavender pieces that look like fennel seeds. Great combination of sweet, tart, and savory, and a much fresher donut on a weekday. When tried again, it also had sugar crystals. Berry: I was expecting a jelly donut, but this was basically a vanilla glazed donut with great glaze and about a half dozen pieces of blueberries and raspberries. S'mores: It seems everybody has a s'more's offshoot these days, but most are obligatory. This one goes over the top with deep, dark, high quality chocolate and still-liquid marshmallow in abundance, then fills the hole with cinnamon streusel. It more than made up for the restraint in the mocha donut from the same batch. Bacon Maple Glazed: The glaze tasted more like regular glazed, but the donut, glaze, and bacon were all very fresh of taste and feel. More generous bacon allotment than you get from the Boston places, and in mini strips, not the crumbles pictured in the online menu. Overall, very good. Salted Chocolate: This one is a plain donut topped with a dark chocolate glaze, milk chocolate pieces, and salt. The glaze might not have been as liquid as in the online menu photo, but very moist and fresh, as well as of a higher quality than you'd expect from the chains. Some tips: 1. You can eat two and feel full without feeling stuffed. 2. These are donuts that don't hold up after a day, so best to only order what you'll eat in one seating. 3. Based on my weekend and week day visits, I'm guessing weekdays are the better bet for freshness, as I noticed a significant improvement on the weekday quartets. (This is true for most donut joints, actually, but more so for a dough that's less forgiving.) 4. Don't pass judgment until you've tried a few flavors, as they enjoyment level can vary greatly. But when you land a winner, wow! (And there are mostly winners.) read more

More thin slices beats one thick slab, and these guys know what they're doing. I was frazzled when I placed my order and forgot to check for my cobbler donut, but I'll try one next time I'm up that way. It makes up for the fact that I forgot to tip, which was a totally boneheaded move on my part!! Excellent coffee, but cashier is inattentive, and she decided to skip the rewards dialog on checkout without asking me, resulting in me not being able to take advantage of their own customer loyalty program. They had no idea how to go back and fix it, (probably just void the transaction and re-run it) but this was the cashier's screwup not mine, so it shouldn't be my problem to lose out on the rewards I rightly earned as opposed to the inconvenience of your staff to figure out how to fix their own mistake. read more

Went here Becuase I was reading reviews stating it was good place for breakfast. We had burritos and there were average, more wrap than insides but it wasn't horrible. I also ordered a scone and doughnut. My raspberry scone was extremely cold and hard which leads me to believe their pastries are not baked fresh, rather baked and frozen. The doughnut with coconut glaze has lovely flavor but the dough was so tough and chewy. Place only offer curb pick up, my son asked to use a restroom as we were 15 min away from restaurant.
