I stopped by Sergeant Burgers & Steaks in Lowell for takeout very recently. I checked out the online menu before driving down here after work. They offer a selection of classic & signature burgers (beef, chicken, turkey, veggie options), sandwiches, chicken fingers, fries, meals (steak, chicken parm), Italian sodas, signature milkshakes, Pepsi fountain drinks. The pricing is moderate. However, the online pricing (eg. DoorDash) is significantly higher than in-store pricing, solidifying my decision to go and order in person. For takeout, I ordered the Chicken Parm Meal ($16 plus tax) which was all set to go in about 12 minutes after ordering. I drove over to my usual coffee spot afterwards to enjoy my takeout food. The chicken parm dinner was comprised of a large breaded chicken cutlet topped with melted cheese over white rice, side of golden fries, and a small green salad with a small packet of oil dressing. Though not the conventional chicken parm (with pasta, rice instead), I actually enjoyed this meal. I rarely leave bad reviews, but Sargent Burger was such a disappointing experience that I feel like people should know before spending their money here. The prices are outrageous for what you get. Burgers were pushing $15, and instead of real cheese, they slopped on some generic cheese sauce. Fries were another $3 for what were clearly frozen, bland, and just dusted with salt and a little parsley. Even a simple canned soda came at a premium price, $3. On top of that, you're expected to pick up your food from the window and bus your own table, yet they still prompt you for hefty tips and charge meal tax. For the quality and service, it makes no sense. The burger bun was straight out of a room-temperature bag--no toasting, no steaming, nothing. It honestly tasted like something you could make at home in five minutes, only for way less money. When we walked in, the place was completely empty, and after eating there, I can see why. Everything about the experience--from the overpriced food to the lack of effort in preparation--felt lazy and underwhelming. Definitely not worth the hype or the price tag. Hands down some of the best burgers I've had in a long time -- juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. You can tell they care about quality with every bite. But let me talk about those onion rings... WOW. Top tier. Super crispy, perfectly golden, and not even a hint of sogginess. They were absolutely addictive! Ask for a tip and you have to walk up to pick up your food and throw your own trash away. $17 for a burger and it doesn't include the measly side of fries. Save your money and go to McDonald's. I noticed this place when I was hungry and craving something new. The store is cute and very clean, and the cashier was very pleasant. THE FOOD: I got a cheeseburger, truffle fries, mozzarella sticks, and a milkshake. --The truffle tries were VERY yummy. A con I will say is that the fries weren't super crispy and hot, but the flavor was there and it was delicious. --The mozzarella sticks were really good! They were classic and flavorful. --The burger was amazing. Simple, yet delicious. I really liked the "smash burger" type of style and it was perfect for a lunch craving. --The milkshake was EXCELLENT. I was very surprised by how this would be the star of the meal, but it was just divine! There's many other flavors that I am definitely going to be trying. PRICE: I found it to be a bit costlier than I would've expected, but I have no complaints towards the price. The flavor and quality of the food matched evenly, so I wasn't opposed. OVERALL: --Sergeant Burgers definitely has passion for burgers and delicious food and it shows through the taste and effort made. Even though pricing is a bit costlier to some, it is most definitely worth it. The only critique I'd make is for the fries to be more hot and crispier. Bacon burger was excellent truffle fries not so much too soggy. I like crisp fries.. other thing I didn't like was the you have to select a tip or decline a tip when you go to pay?. I find this the most ridiculous thing of all. Tips should be for waiters and waitresses not for somebody that rings up your order at a fast food joint. A tip is based on how good your waiter of waitress is and how good the food is . So asking for a tip before you even get your food is the most ridiculous. trend that has come out in the last five years. I probably would not come back or recommend the place just because of that . I can go to Five Guys get a killer hamburger and not have to deal with the guilt trip. read more

My wife heard about this place from a friend. Saw the reviews and seemed legit so since we were both craving a burger, we decided to check it out. Stopped here for lunch on a Saturday around 1PM. Place was empty when we walked in. Relatively clean, well kept dining area, well lit. Relatively spacious dining area as well. Order and pay at the counter. Grabbed a table and watched Brazillian soap operas. They serve a smash burger type here. Wife built her own basic burger, I opted for the Glass Onion burger. We both opted for the combo meal which came with fries and a drink. My only gripe there is that they offer different types of fries (truffle fries, cheese fries etc.) but we were told you can't get those as part of the combo, only regular fries. If we wanted the truffle fries we'd have to order those separately. Odd, but whatever. Passed on the special fries and just got the plain fries. Food was ready pretty quickly. Burger was excellent really. The fries, as mentioned by a couple of other reviews were a little on the soggy side. Not a fan of the fries. Maybe the seasoned special fries are better, not sure. Feel like the place is a step above Five Guys, but not like way above. Burger definitely better but the fries need work. McD's fries are better. Heck, even Wendy's. Price wise a little expensive for what it is. For a $20 burger combo I kinda expect a little more than just soggy fries and a decent burger. read more

We found Sergeants Burgers by accident, driving by the location and saw their sign and decided to try it out...the food was excellent! Burgers were a perfect size and had a good sear, excellent sauces and buns! Truffle fries were better than we expected! They needed NO ketchup or anything...would go back just for those! Service was also excellent - and pretty quick...Decor and ambiance was enjoyable for a casual dining place...we are planning to return and bring family AND recommend to friends. Also - the variety of milkshakes seems great and I KNOW the chocolate one I had was the best I've had since getting them at Friendly's and Brighams when I was a teenager!!!
