Stopped by because I was early for my lirr train. This place is so inviting, bright and airy. They have a backyard but I didn't get to check it out but people were sitting out there! I got an iced chai and an egg sandwich. Service was quick and friendly. The egg sandwich was delicious, the spicy sauce was the perfect addition to it. The bread was toasted, buttery and soft. Well, I been coming here once a week because it's right across from my laundromat that I do laundry once a week. So it's just convenient. The place is cute and staff very friendly. But so far not impressed by the things I have ordered. Had a vanilla latte twice and both times soooooo strong, could not taste vanilla or sweetener. So I tried a chi tea latte and it was lukewarm and barely any chi taste. The best thing was the marble muffin. The menu looks promising but don't know if the actual food will be any good. When I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich at Furman's, I had no idea what I was in for. Thick slices of sourdough bread fried and pressed in sharp cheese and jalapeños, filled with cream cheese and bacon add-on. A cup of warm maple syrup for drizzling was a tasty accompaniment. I had to eat this sandwich in intervals, it was colossal! Minus one star because in my opinion, cream cheese isn't the best option for this doughy deliciousness. The cheese filling should be smooth like cheddar or smoked gouda. The servers attitudes were a bit bland. Maybe they aren't morning people. read more

I really liked the interior of this place. The plants and exposed brick wall give it a nice modern industrial aesthetic. I ordered a 12oz black drip coffee for $3, which was decent but too acidic for my taste. The egg sandwich took a good ten minutes to come out. The brioche bun was nicely toasted and tasted good, and there was just the right amount of chipotle mayo. The egg was fluffy but not seasoned at all, so it was a bit bland. Overall pretty good but not sure it was worth the $8. read more

This was one of the first coffee shops I explored when I newly moved into the neighborhood. I'm glad I did: strong coffee. Affordable. Friendly staff! What else? Oh; egg sandwiches. I always thought the sign outside was just a false claim (please don't hate me for saying this!) but FOREAL IT IS THE BEST EGG SANDWICH EVER. Their Cajun sauce is so damn delicious and it's so gourmet with the brioche bread. Oh my! It's a little pricey, but worth it. Additional cost for avocados. And you know what gen Z said about millennials, we love avocados on our shit. So yeah! It's like $1-2? No biggie. I'm glad Furman's Coffee is in the neighborhood. It provides a clean, serviceable spot to grab coffee and baked goods at market prices. I stopped by to get some work done on a weekday and was pleased by the air conditioning, bright natural light, decent coffee, reasonable prices, not-too-loud music, access to outlets, clean bathroom, and friendly staff. There weren't that many people working there and thus over the course of the late morning to afternoon never got too crowded. Two things to note, nevertheless, are: 1) The only place to work are two long tables with bar stools near the front of the shop. If you are like me, over time some back support would be appreciated. So it's maybe not the most conducive and comfortable place for working for many hours. 2) The wifi access is from Link, which happens to be fast but not secure. read more

This was a welcomed surprise on the block with my favorite fish market. The employees were sooooo nice! I would go just to hang out and chat with them. The space is sunken by 3 stairs, lots of wooden accents and natural light. It has a calming atmosphere that I'm sure would be great to do homework/work. The iced coffee was fresh and strong, pricing consistent with most small coffee shops ($3). I look forward to trying more menu item when it gets chilly. read more

Such a wonderful solace away from home. The coffee, food, and amazing staff always goes out of their way to make sure we're satisfied. I was here almost everyday (sometimes with my dog) during the summer to enjoy an egg sandwich with premium ingredients, coffee, and a good book. I'd sit in the newly constructed backyard and the staff always did their best to check in on me without too much of a disturbance. It's a small business which is something I always appreciate. There was a miscommunication with the punch card system they use as their rewards program and instead of Emmanuel being customer friendly and trying to get to the root of the problem he proceeded to try and argue with me the entire time and tell me how coffee culture works. Wish you the best in business, you'll do a lot better if you learn how to de-escalate situations instead of stoking the flames looking for a reaction. Sweet coffee shop with a sleek industrial feel. I love how it's a few steps below the sidewalk. The sunken feel of it makes it feel like a nice cozy coffee cave. The colors of the shop are easy on the eyes. Assuming you haven't had coffee yet before entering the shop, it's a great way to wake yourself up. As the caffeine hits, your eyes are ready to take on all that sunshine waiting out the door. I always get a cold brew and take a sip before I fix it up with a dash of syrup. It's strong AF. 5/27/2021. I work in the neighborhood and pass by Furman's coffee shop in the mornings as I get off the train. I go there often to get breakfast a lot and I noticed the usual nice staff wasn't working today. Needless to say, I had a not so nice encounter with the young women at the counter today. This morning I order an egg sandwich with berries a long with coconut water. When I ordered the egg sandwich, I added the berries after stating I wanted the egg sandwich. Her response was "what's that." I confusedly responded "blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries". She then realized what I was actually requesting and stressed it was called a berry bowl and that would be an extra cost. I told her I was aware the berries cost extra. She then prepared the berry bowl and placed it on the counter next to my egg sandwich and coconut water, said there you go and walked away leaving my 3 items there without bagging them. I then asked for them to be bagged and she proceeded to placed a bag next to the items, and said "there you go." and walked away. This women was unprofessional, dismissive and rude. I thought it would be customary to bag a costumer's purchase of multiple items as well as a thanking them for their business. I will no longer be coming to your establishment for breakfast and I will surely spread the word about my negative experience there as well. read more
