We had a great experience at Fun Buns! Came for lunch Wednesday and were greeted pleasantly and requested to sit outside. The outside dining area has ample tables with umbrellas, turf covering and family/dog friendly. Our lunch was great! The Mac Daddy was a favorite from my 18 year old ! Our 9 year old enjoyed the arcade area 100% Came back the following day to enjoy regular and boozy (mom and dad) shakes ;) Our waitress Rachel, was new and very attentive and cheerful. The manager Jill, greeted us and took care of anything we needed. We will definitely be back to Fun Buns for burgers, shakes and FUN!!! read more

Saw this place on the show The Day Tripper and we decided to make a day trip of our own to try the infamous PB&J burger. I know it sounds weird and I was skeptical until I tasted that first bite. It's unique and oh so delicious. I would definitely recommend. It wasn't very busy on a weekday. The service was great and the overall ambiance of the restaurant is fun and hip. The art is vibrant and there's graffiti style painting on the walls. Lots to see. If you have kids, this is would be fun for them. There's an arcade in the back room for them to enjoy. After being told twice we would be getting our burgers in about 30 minutes by hostess and waitress, we sat waiting for an hour and 35 minutes. Limited communication from staff until we told them we'd be taking them to go as we had an infant with us and couldn't wait anymore. First time experience was kind of ruined. We did get an appetizer to keep us over while we waited, those were amazing. Shame we didn't get fresh food too. read more

Friday night, the place was pretty busy. We wanted to sit outside, but apparently they didn't have enough staff and if we sat out there, then it was taking the servers over an hour to get out there. We opted for inside and while it was pleasant enough, there was a very loud party in there in between that and the music it was very hard to hear each other. Once that loud party left, it was much better. The food did take a while to come out , probably 20 minutes for an appetizer and another 30 minutes after that for our actual food. My husband and I ordered whiskey sours and they were delicious. I had the peanut butter and jelly burger and it was very good aside from the big glob of peanut butter right in the center lol but I just spread it around some more and it was fine. Hubby had the cheesesteak and daughter had the fish tacos which they said were excellent. We also tried the jalapeño poppers, they had a specific name, but I can't remember what they were called. Though they were very good and the sauce that comes with complements them and sweet potato fries very well. There are onion rings are hand breaded, and looked delicious. They have a onion tower that the table next to us ordered. This place sits directly in front of the treehouse Tavern and is their direct competition. The food is great and the drinks were also great, but I do think they are going to have to step up their outside service game if they want to keep up with the competition. Also, they should put a menu board outside that would be helpful. We walked in and wanted to see what they served because it was our first time there and we walked in right into the check-in and the place is small so having the menu outside would eliminate a lot of chaos at the door. It's great to finally get a winner in this location. We stopped in for lunch and shared a messy bun (cheese steak) with fries and a cowboy bun (cheeseburger with onion ring and bbq sauce) and sweet potato fries. It was all delicious. I especially liked the burger because it was thick, juicy and cooked to my preference. The sweet potato fries were also a favorite because they had the perfect amount of crispness. (I don't like mushy sweet potato fries.). My husband added grilled jalapeño to the cheese steak, which I found overwhelming. Without that, there was a nice ratio of meat to peppers and onions. Could use a bit more cheese for my taste. The decor is colorful and unique. The arcade at the back makes it a fun place to bring the kids, even on the cold days we had last week. In better weather, there is a nice outdoor space and dog area at District 46 where Fun Buns is located. My friend takes her grandkids to Fun Buns often for these reasons. Just had the most enjoyable lunch at Fun Buns. Our first time there, so we had no idea how cute the restaurant is and how great the food was. Terry had a chicken salad sandwich with hot out of the fryer kettle chips. He loved it. I had the Hawaiian Burger and chili cheese fries, because who can turn down chili cheese fries? Sadie was our waitress and she was perfect! Made Terry's Arnold Palmer to his specification and even stopped to play with our dog, Abby. Music was iHeart Country. The bathrooms were immaculate and decorated so cute that my husband took a picture. There's a small arcade in a separate room, so it won't disturb the diners and lots of outdoor seating. Oh! I was looking for something to go on my way home from work. I walked in and was handed a menu right away when I announced my to-go preference. I pointed at the Hawaiian Bun and this very nice server said that that was his favorite! It was delicious! Highly recommend that you get the cowboy bites. It was a mixture of cream cheese, corn, jalapeño, and bacon, all deep fried with homemade ranch. I got peanut butter and jelly burger. Crazy but it all works and was extremely delicious. Our fries came out hot and yummy. hubby got the cowboy burger had a huge homemade onion ring. The burger was flavorful and juicy. Where to start? 4 of us for lunch and everyone had a stellar "bun": Mac Daddy, PB&J Bun ( don't say eeew- say ahhhh!), Chicken Salad and Chicken Philly Bun. All great taste sensations. The wife and I are onion ring snobs, and those were great. The Cowboy Bites are something you have to experience for yourselves. The fried mushrooms were huge. So many other choices for specialty burgers or build your own. When on the 46, this is a great place for a burger épicurien delight and huge portion. Wow! Fun Buns did it again. Impressed me and the wife. A Big Mac like burger on the menu, the Mac Daddy is the souped up version of McDonalds Big Mac. Jon the Business Manager is the Willy Wonka of burgers. The flavors that he pairs are remarkable. The Barnyard rivals the Mac Daddy for top spot on my menu. The fried egg atop the (never frozen) meat patty with avocado and a layer of French fries...oh magnifique le monsieur. We really love this place. To the point where we are trying not to burn it out. I can't say enough about this establishment. Jon keeps trying new ingredients and pairings which is why I think it is so successful. It's just fun. Let your taste buds loose here and I believe they will thank you. Oh, did I mention they bake their own pies and brownies there for the desserts? The outside and inside of this place is so neat. They really focused on the details of the art and all about buns. It is nice and comfy. The menu selection was great as well. The cowboy bun had a Texas sized onion ring in it - it was very delicious. We also got the cheesy bun- everything tasted amazing. Wish we had space in our tummies to enjoy more options. It's a must stop place. They had some shakes that had liquor too - we will try it next time. The service was amazing! Our waitress was very attentive and went above and beyond. I just love their burgers and the Tues-Friday lunch specials at only $9.00 is awesome but you'll have to download their app to your phone to get it! The food is fresh and appealing just to look at and it's sooo delicious. I usually go to the burger joints right off 281 in Spring Branch but for a simple 3 mile ride out on 281 and 46 east you can get superb, quality food, a fantastic sit down area (indoor and outdoor seating) and support a local business at the same time. I met the owner on both of my visits and I have to say he's the most customer friendly, helpful, and personable guy I've ever met. If I was caught in a burning building I'd tell the firemen to move out of the way so he can get to me I can't sing but I'll sing their praises to the moon and back, and no, I didn't get paid a promo fee for posting this review, lol. They truly are the best and I can't recommend Fun Buns enough. It's a huge upgrade to the competition and oh, it's a fun sports bar experience too with the friendliest staff you'll ever meet. Fun Buns? More like Lame Buns . We called at 8:35pm attempting to place a to-go order before they closed at 9pm. The phone rang and rang. We drove over from NB anyways because we were really excited to get the burger and hoped we could still place an order in person. We arrived at 8:50pm and were excited to see the "Open" sign flashing and people still dining inside. 2 separate waitresses ignored us at the hostess stand and one went to get someone else to deal with us, she came out and said they were closed. I realize no one wants to stay later than necessary, and it's cliche to hate those people who walk in close to closing. But we really tried to do the staff a favor and make the order to-go well before closing, and despite trying hard to give Fun Buns our business, they just didn't want it. Fun Buns is a great little place in the hill country, located just four miles from 281 on 46. We sat outdoors under the oak trees and umbrellas. The grass is artificial but there's a small playground for the kids. Overall it's just a very family friendly environment. Our waitress was great and very attentive. My daughter had the BBBLT sandwich which she thoroughly enjoyed, it was definitely loaded with bacon. Her husband had the PB and J bun, he enjoyed it but he only tasted the jelly and no peanut butter. My other son in law had the Chili Cheese Bun and thought it was delicious. I had the fish and chips and I thought they were very good. I will definitely come back to eat here again. There's just so much on the menu that needs to be explored. read more

I first walked in and saw a group of workers standing around and they did not look happy to see me. I was placing a to go order for my daughter who was about to get out of softball practice and the snarky girl at the front handed me a menu and mumbled something, which i suppose was to go to the bar and order. I was trying to give the menu to the young girl and she gave me a rude look and pointed to the bar. I then proceeded to tell her that I was trying to give her the menu back. I was waiting for my order and felt very judged, although the lady I ordered from at the bar was kind until I got my order and she then gave me short snarky answers. The kids meals were un edible at 8$ a piece no drinks included I asked for CHEESEburgers plain and dry for the kids they didn't put any cheese the meat is flavorless the buns cold and hard and they give you two ketchup packets... the food is so over priced and very underwhelming even the regular burgers. 10$ milkshakes.... Wanted to share for improvements. First off, the burgers are good! Better than the branch. Fun atmosphere and chairs are comfy. Improvement wise - the girl at the hostess stand I'm thinking was an owner? Blond hair. She talked to my husband and he went with my kids to the game area. I stood there waiting. Keep in mind it was not busy. She got the silverware and menus and just started walking. Didn't talk much to me or say "let me take you to your table". I just ended up following her. She did give me a card for one free game so that was nice. Waitress was friendly and recommended the Mac bites. They are Kraft Mac. Not very tasty. Perhaps some cheese sauce instead of ranch. For one meal, one kids meal, the Mac bites all waters aside from two kid drinks, it was $49 with tip. We could get way more for that price at the branch... and the kids drink wasn't included with the meal. So we paid $6 for two kid drinks... The kids meal was $9 too. Again price point doesn't make me want to come back. Y'all just need to adjust your prices some for people to return. And include a kids drink with the meal.
