A very good restaurant. This restaurant specializes in foods from Jalisco. We stopped there for lunch and we each had the Mexican shrimp cocktail with a shredded lettuce on the side. These shrimp cocktails are very very delicious. They are full of shrimp, guacamole peppers, and the most wonderful sauce. This is a must have from this restaurant. It's enough to fill you up. The Waite staff and servers were outstanding. They were very professional, knowledgeable of the menus and very expeditious. The ambience there is always very friendly and a happy place. This is a very good surprise. The food there is exceptionally well and the service there is outstanding. The people there are all friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. You can go in there for breakfast early in the morning, at lunchtime or in the evening for dinner. Anytime that I've gone there and I've been there many times, I've always found it a very good place to eat with friendly and kind wait staff. I really want to rate a 4 but the inconsistency of the times we've eaten there are driving the 3. Breakdown: Beef enchiladas- always good - 4 Chicken enchiladas- inconsistent - 2 Breakfast tacos - inconsistent and sometimes too greasy -2 Country sausage, egg , cheese - always a 5! Service - friendly but sometimes slow -3 Atmosphere- plenty of room and great playground - 5 Parking - 5 Serving size - 5 More pricey than some other places, but the serving size makes up for it. So we eat here often, and we are never disappointed. The food is good, the service is usually spot-on, and the ambiance is a cool little Mexican restaurant with all the trappings of culture that you would expect. I had the ham and cheese platter, which is ham and cheese scrambled eggs, potatoes, and beans with a couple of tortilla shells to use as you wish. I like to roll two breakfast tacos with the beans, eggs, ham and a few potatoes, then eat the rest like a normal breakfast. The only complaint was the coffee was a bit watery, and our server was pulling double duty on the drive through and we were on a bit of a tight schedule so we would have preferred to get out of there a bit quicker. Final recommendation, as good a breakfast as you will get on 281 north of San Antonio, stop by and give it a try. read more

I never give reviews ever, but after giving this place multiple chances I think it's only fair that I warn others so they don't experience the same thing. The past 3 times my wife and I have gone through the drive through here, our orders have been atrociously wrong. I order 5 tacos, they give me 3 and all are the wrong kind. I ask for an enchilada plate, they give us something else. Third time was the charm this morning when I ordered 4 Barbacoa tacos and they gave me 5 bean and cheese. I've only ever eaten one thing from here and that's chicken fajita tacos. And they are da bomb. Flavorful and filled with onions and peppers and stuff that seem to be sautéed in butter and maybe some garlic. Tortillas are thick and chewy ... like mamacita would make. Tiny little place with almost no parking but convenient drive thru. BUT ... Don't try to eat one in car.. you'll have fajita drillings all over you. So good. read more

My brother-in-law swears by this place, but after eating here before we drove back up to Dallas, we tried it once more and all I have to say is that it is alright at best. Nothing major, nothing exciting, just alright. I tried the huevos rancheros and it just fell flat for me. They salsa on top of it had no kick and lacked flavor and the beans were way too runny for me. I just don't get it. Now, they salsa they serve with the chips was really good. I must say I am thoroughly disappointed, and more than that I am angry that the food was so bad. First, the horchata must have been terrible premade stuff cause it taste like LIGHT vanilla milk. Second, if you don't like fat, don't eat here. I was disgusted when biting into my taco to get a stringy piece of gristle. Lastly, besides the meat being fatty it was pretty dry, almost like they had already cooked it and it had been setting? I'm not sure but it wasn't the best. I was driving around the Texas hill country to visit an old friend out in Spring Branch when I stumbled upon El Rodeo de Jalisco- it's a tiny spot that's bigger inside than it looks from the outside, but there's a drive-thru available if you're in a rush. I highly recommend taking the time to dine inside, as the atmosphere is cozy and the service is as friendly as family. The eats here are legit, classic, and delicious. The menu has all of your favorite tex-mex staples, prepared as if your abuela is in the cocina making it just how you like- giant portions, piping hot, extra cheese on everything! The combo plates are your best bet to get a little bit of everything. It's been so long since I've had food this good that my eyes were bigger than my stomach and I ordered half the menu. The fresh chips and salsa are good, but don't fill up on that. The enchiladas (cheese please) have a great red sauce, and the tostadas are piled high with fresh produce and both guac AND sour cream. Crispy tacos aren't really my thing, but the carne guisada was stewed, meaty perfection. If this weren't so far out of my usual territory, I'd have come back for breakfast tacos.
