We were in Franklin on a Saturday morning & got hungry for breakfast. The crowd seemed lighter here than some other locations so we stopped in for a bite. A bacon, egg & cheese biscuit was on my wife's mind so that's what I ordered. That was perhaps not the best idea, as it's not an item on their menu so they charged me a la carte for the items & it came up to about $7.50 apiece. Now I will say the bacon had great flavor & the egg portion was generous, but my biscuit was in the oven a bit too long & wouldn't have been the best I'd had even if it wasn't so crunchy. When I try to study at home, I get distracted. I have laundry and dishes and TV shows and magazines and other things. I've found that coffee shops, despite all their hustle and bustle, are the prime place for me to study; even the library is too quiet. I tend to gravitate towards Starbucks, but since I was hungry I decided to hit up the Frothy Monkey in downtown Franklin. I love that it has an industrial, yet home-like atmosphere, with old fireplaces since it is an older building that may have been a home at some point. The Frothy Monkey serves food all day, and even offers beer and wine. I decided to get the Frothy Monkey breakfast and a chai latte - delicious bacon, eggs, and multi-grain toast. The bacon was some of the freshest and best I've had in Franklin (yum!) and I swear they gave me more than two eggs. I enjoyed the meal immensely, with delicious jam on the toast. I also enjoyed the chai latte, though it was a little different from others I've had. I feel like it had a bit more spice than I'm used to. (I'm still tasting the delicious one I had at Bread and Cocoa in San Francisco... must have been some extra cream or something.) I enjoyed studying upstairs by a window, and I spent a good few hours there. I'm definitely going to hide out there more often. read more

So I've been here a couple times now, and while I usually like hiding away in lesser known coffee spots, I think the food and service make up for the anomaly. First of all, for those who seem to complain about the service... I don't know if the fact that everything is being made to order in a /small/ kitchen and coffee space is taken into account for timeliness. Most places this size would rather give you your food the moment it is made rather than stick it under a heating lamp (if they even have space for one...). From my personal experiences (and expecting many more!) they are very friendly, know their coffees well enough that when I give them a point blank "Recommend me something" they do not freak out but siphon down customer preferences to a suitable option and are super friendly and fine someone turning a corner into their personal portable office (which on a snowy day is a relief since I know anyone who doesn't like cabin fever can attest to the value of a universally welcoming atmosphere). Coffee wise... I've only had their hazelnut white mocha (with half sugar...which I actually can say at that was a perfect blend of sweet and coffee bite) and a few cortados, which come served at the perfect temperature. Tea I've had their Fireside which was a true to it's name toe-warming experience for a nice "hearty" tea. And food wise I've had the Buck, which was nice. Could have been a little warmer but hey, when you can have such great service and wholesome midday snack with your portable work day...who can really complain? I know they also seem to have a lot of events throughout the year, so definitely a nice location with things to do if just enjoying food and coffee isn't your thing. They apparently also have a really good breakfast, but I haven't had the luxury to put that to the test. read more

There is a HECK of a LOT of hype surrounding Frothy Monkey in Nashville. The aesthetic is cool, coffeehouse, hipster-y, and cozy - just how I like 'em. I am not a coffee drinker, and so my husband and I came here for a late night date - we got the turtle brownies & hot chocolates. The hot chocolate was yummy, and the TURTLE BROWNIES?!?!?! How DARE they serve something so amazing!! They were warm, and make with Dutch-process, black cocoa (one of my personal favorites), and the plate was filled with two giant brownies that were truly the best brownies I have ever had. This place is great! Highly highly recommend the event space for smaller events or parties! The food and espresso drinks are really good, but what really sets them apart, are the people. They always remember my name and coffee. Seems super home-y. Reliable wifi, awesome covered outdoor and back patio space for working. Especially if you want to get away from noisy busy downstairs. I will say as well, we rented their upstairs space and it was perfect. It's located in downtown Franklin, which is full of charm and unique specialty shops and stores. Almost two hours for a party of 6 to get seated inside a half empty restaurant ... really? Sitting outside would have been fine but no outside heaters in the mid-40's was just too darn cold. The Host, despite smiling and acting like he cared, was not willing to do anything, like pull a couple tables together, to get us in. Fortunately there was one friendly young lady that did care and she eventually managed to get us seated. The coffee is good, the food is excellent and the service and wait times are usually acceptable ... but today was just downright terrible. We almost just got up and walked out. Suggestion: Replace Host (11/29/20 in the A.M.) with one that is willing to get things moving and limit tables to 60 minutes in light of COVID limited seating restrictions (with half the seating being a WiFi bar doesn't make sense with a line of people waiting in the cold to get seated). I'll be back and if things are better I'll update this review. read more

Perfect little coffee shop to absolutely anything you may need to get done. There's plenty of seating downstairs, upstairs and on the patio. This place is definitely what you call hipster. Street parking can be a challenge on a busy day luckily we came in on a Sunday afternoon. Ordered a hazelnut latte which was perfect, temp coulda been a little hotter. Used to really enjoy coming here. Disappointed in how they over complicated the experience post covid. Main entrance is barricaded with a banner that says "Open" yet you can't enter. Staff makes you feel like an inconvenience. No longer feels like they are there to serve you or appreciate your business. read more

I would highly recommend Franklin, TN's Frothy Monkey. It's a place with specialty coffees, delicious food, and friendly staff members. Franklin's Frothy Monkey's manager Andy is wonderful. A couple of weeks ago he went over and beyond on customer service to make sure we had our order promptly and correctly. We had a mishap with the virtual ordering on Toast and he delivered our coffees to our house to make sure that we were happy customers. Oh, Frothy. I've tried to love you. Like a verbally abusive boyfriend, I return to you again and again because you're cute. After the last 3 times where I waited 20 minutes for my drink or my muffin (no, not crowded), I don't know why I went back. They forgot my muffin once. Second time they found me after 20 minutes to tell me they were out of the one I pointed at and paid for. Picked another. Another 20 minutes, coffee has been drunk, they tell me someone dropped my second one. Today, went with my husband. We commented how fast the food came out. He said, "Was it just sitting there and they reheated it"? Oddly, my coffee was cold. Well, guess who has been sick since being there 3 hours ago? Yes, it was from the food, the only thing I ate today. It was eggs and avocado on toast. Was the egg cooked a long time before then left out? Non-hygienic kitchen practices? If you want tons of attitude from the staff, go here to wait 20+ minutes for overpriced coffee. No signs for the wait area, so when you ask a staff member if you are in the right line, you get the eye roll and "I'll tell you when and where to go". We had a great experience at Frothy Monkey's Franklin location today. I had the quesadilla and Mexican hot chocolate. My husband had the crab cake sandwich with herb potatoes and cafe au lait. We kept eating off each other's plate, everything was THAT good! The staff was super friendly and quick to clean off tables as people left. I was with a group of people who were waiting in a line outside in the rain at another place. Not from Nashville so I wanted to try something different...me and a few others decided to try this place instead. Great choice! I got a white chocolate mocha with soy milk and a black bean burger. The black bean burger was really great, I didn't expect two patties. The rosemary potatoes were alright if you're a fan of rosemary, but were not bad. Finally, the mocha was the best coffee I've ever had in my life. I wish we had this place in Kentucky. It was busy for a Sunday morning, but the servers were all very nice and patient with someone who had never been there before. read more

**Reviewing as a coffee house, not restaurant I came here to meet some friends for coffee recently and was pleasantly surprised by how adorable this place is. It's off the corner of the heart of downtown Franklin. And though they don't have their own parking lot, there was plenty of street parking on the side streets (i need to work on parallel parking!). Once we found a parking spot, we made out way into the two story cozy cafe and were greeted by the delicious aromas of coffee. I ordered a latte and had some friendly chatter with the staff. Everyone was so accommodating and nice, and it just had such a fun vibe to it! I think that any sized party could be accommodated here. They have a plethora of seating on the first and second floor and table of all sizes. My latte was good, it was about 5 bucks for the smallest size, so a bit more expensive that starbucks. read more
