Checked out a new coffee spot Sunday and was pleasantly surprised by Froth. The menu looked really good and it was nice to see some veg options. I've heard a lot of great things about Froth, but was a little disappointed by my experience there. I visited on a weekend with a friend with the intention of grabbing some brunch and getting some work done. Aesthetically, Froth is beautiful and is clearly a popular place for people to work. When we arrived, the main area was full, so we were directed to the overflow seating one floor down which was in the bar area. It was super dark and really loud, even on a Sunday morning, so you'll want to get there early if you plan on working so you can get a seat in the open, airy main area. The food and coffee were good, but the service was lacking. I stood at the counter for almost 10 minutes before any of the employees acknowledged me. One of the baristas made direct eye contact with me and then turned her back to me without a word. As someone who has worked in the service industry before, I get that things get busy and am happy to wait, but a simple acknowledgement that they saw me and would be with me in a moment would have been appreciated. The rest of my interactions with the staff also fell a little short. They are good at making the food and drinks, but just not great at hospitality. I love that Froth is dog friendly and enjoyed getting to meet a few different dogs while I was there. Overall, the food is good and the ambience is nice if you can get a spot upstairs, but the service was lacking enough that I'm not sure I would come back. read more

Froth is easily one of my favorite co-working spaces! There's plenty of seating, especially for a party of one. Get here early or plan your days appropriately if you want group seating. I've often had to chair-hop before landing at my desired space. There are six, individual and large desks near the window, with ample charging stations and USB plugs. In the middle of the floor are couches and small side tables. There's booth seating against the side wall and private lounge chairs behind the stairs. I've never had a meal here that I didn't like. The bread on the sandwiches is delicious and messy. They use an oil that will leave your hands messy; having a working lunch is less than ideal but you'll manage. Ask for extra napkins. There's street parking on the side of the street where the establishment sits; across the street is permit parking. You will be ticketed. Wonderful place to grab a coffee on the go or to post up for the day, especially for my work-from-home folks. read more

One of my favorite places to come work. I've dropped in on a few Fridays to open up a laptop and get some work done. It's popular so there might be limited seating but I've managed to always snag a table. The coffee is good. I stick to the basics. The scrambled egg dish is really good. Baked goods are hit or miss. Was looking for a cool little coffee shop outside of my normal go to place. The coffee was great. We got the ladybird which was a seasonal special. Which their seasonal drinks had dope references to King of the Hill. "That's my purse, I don't know you". I got mine iced, which I loved and my gf got the same thing hot which she enjoyed. So you can nottt go wrong with that drink. We both got a breakfast burrito which turned out to not be the best thing. It looked amazing, it included two sauces, but not really enough for my liking. Everyone loves a good sauce. The chipotle mayo didn't hit though. The burrito included broccolini which was an interesting choice. I'll have to come back to get something different. Service was great though. Top tier recommendation on drinks. The place reminded me of a 2025 era Mad Men-esque vibe, which is probably the most accurate description, since there is a bar we didn't go to that's on the lower level. Dog friendly which I love. Love seeing all the puppers. Not a ton of seating due to all of the remote workers filling up the desks. Overall- great coffee, good atmosphere, great service. It is located inside an apartment building, so it is in an unexpected location. But once you go in, you get transported to a chic, sophisticated place with black curtains, dark wood furniture and brick walls. They were out of the Dalgona coffee drinks, so I tried the Mulholland Drive. It has a nice balanced smooth coffee taste with a hint of macadamia nuts. I also ordered the Huevos Rancheros Tartine. It came with two sunny side eggs on top of a lightly toasted bread that had ground beef flavored spiced with chipotle that gave it a nice kick. The eggs made the cheese and ground beef go down smoothly. I would order this again. It is worth visiting again if in the West Loop neighborhood. read more

I'm a sucker for historical places, so to know that this building was a former Y was very exciting to me. Definitely take the time to stop and read the little informational sign near the large staircase. As is the problem with most of these instagrammable cafes- it's very hard to find a seat. I had hoped we would score one of the few desks- to no avail. For the prices, we were hoping for a little more quality of our drinks. You can get just as good of a cortado down the street at La Colombe for a dollar cheaper! That being said, the hot chocolate was really good. Froth is one of those rare coffee shops that feels both refined and inviting. Their craft drinks are truly artisanal, each one unique and carefully balanced. The matcha is some of the best I've ever had, smooth and vibrant, while the coffee is rich and never overly sweet. Food here is just as impressive, making it a spot worth lingering in. Came here on a Sunday. The place was gorgeous and had outdoor seating. Pricey, we ordered 2 coffees, 2 sandwiches and a pastry and it was $50-60. -Chai tea latte was ok. -Sandwiches were good but missing items because they ran out I felt horrible for the staff, they were very busy and under staffed and had a long wait for customers. They were just trying to keep things moving the best they could. They told us it would be a while for food which is understandable. It wasn't the staffs fault so I tried to later reach out to the manager to receive a refund since a few items were missing from our order, however, I tried calling and the phone said they were closed during business hours, I tried to send an email and the email bounced, and when I called the Duncan (they said froth said to just use the contact Website form). I filled it out it out but haven't received a refund yet. Overall probably won't be back during a busy weekend hour but it is a stunning space! read more

I used to love coming here to study. There's lots of light, seating with outlets and space to work, and interesting food and drink. They recently stopped allowing dogs in, which was a major draw for me. The food and drink is good but overpriced. I also noticed that when someone came in with their dog, she apologized because she just noticed the sign when she walked up to the cash register. Note that there is no other sign indicating that dogs are no longer allowed inside until you get right up to the register. The guy told her it was fine for her to order this time, but when he walked back to the bar, he muttered "another fucking dog" to his coworker. I won't be coming back anymore. read more

Froth was okay. As a coffee enthusiast, I really was hoping for a good experience. I think there's potential, so I'll come back and try again. The ambiance is a strange one--it's in a lobby, so there's high, high ceilings, and lots of spread out spacing. I loved it. I felt like I could be left alone and work on my art, as opposed to some other cafes in which I feel cramped and crowded. In terms of accessibility, this place is great. Quiet and sensory friendly, low lighting. Plenty of room for service dogs, mobility aids, and wheelchairs. The service was nice, my barista was helpful and I was so excited for my rose latte. However the coffee is where I hit a snag. The espresso tasted kind of off to me--I'm not sure what it was, but it just did not feel right. The milk was *Frothy* and very nicely foamed, but I felt like the rose flavor was all at the bottom. I had go get through most of the latte to even taste a hint of rose. If Harry Potter had a coffee shop on campus, these would be very very close to the vibes. I felt like I was walking into a fancy college. They have an amazing setup to come study, read, chat, wfh. There is wifi and outlets which for me is 10/10 already. And the drinks were fun and the food was delicious. The service was good but could have been better, as I had a few modifications due to an allergy and the cashier didn't really know how to help me. Needed to get some work done, and didn't want to do it at my own home. Actively found several really aesthetically-pleasing coffee shops in the West Loop on Yelp, but they all seemed to close before 4 or 5pm (on Sunday). Headed over to FROTH, which by the way, is so easy to miss if you're not paying attention. It's in a revitalized mixed use historical looking building, but there is not much of signage. Also, the door is locked and you have to be buzzed in (it has apartments above), but fortunately someone was entering when we went in. I kind of like that it's lowkey, because at this very moment I'm writing the review, it feels like a hidden gem. As Fulton Market and the West Loop continue to forever expand development west towards Ashland and beyond to the United Center, this place will surely become more popular, but right now, I was pleasantly surprised at the tranquility of it. It's essentially somewhat of a lobby of the building, but still feels like a study space. They also have outdoor tables too for when it's warmer! We were able to grab a spot at a big desk by the windows which was great. They had lights there for you, and it's just a perfect spot to get deep into your work. I got one drink.. like a iced speciality coffee and it was around $7+ without the tip which I found to be on the pricier end. You're paying for the area and where you are, so I get it. The best part about this place is that, although the coffee bar/station closes at a certain time (7pm on Sundays), you are still have to continue working until I guess maybe however long you'd like to (?). It's a lobby of the building at the end of the day, so they don't kick you out assuming that you're not being loud or obnoxious. We stayed for at least another hour and it was chill and nearly empty by then. This was perfect considering so many coffee shops close so early in Chicago (eye roll). Going to the restroom is a bit of a maze to get to, but all the mirrors when you walk down the steps are a cool addition your experience. read more

I always enjoy my visits to FROTH. I brought a couple of family members to check out the place I had been raving about. They loved it as much as me. It was a bit busy, but because of the large room, we still found a great spot to sit under the staircase. We loved the comfort and privacy. The guy at the counter was fantastic. He was friendly yet professional. He answered a few questions and proactively asked us what milk we preferred. When I mentioned that the pastries look like they came from Hardbitten, he laughed that I knew my pop tarts! We all had lattes and enjoyed them very much. One was a simple latte, mine was an oat milk lavender and one was an oat milk iced mocha. They were great choices for an afternoon visit. I really do love this unique coffee shop because of it's atmosphere and decor. The dark, and elegant vibe, steeped in history really create the perfect backdrop. But I found a loading spot to at least run in for a coffee & pastry to go. If you're not looking for FROTH, you may miss it, as it's in the lobby of the Duncan apartment complex. But I really liked the way they designed/decorated the interior. And there's a nice outdoor area too. Froth is located on the first floor/lobby area of The Duncan apartment building. And seriously, they have amazing spots to study! There are approx. 8 large desks (my favorite), a large communal desk, couches, and several smaller tables. The drinks are fantastic. My absolute favorite is the Jack Froth Mocha, with Froth's homemade mint and chocolate syrup. However, I haven't had a bad drink at Froth. The food is equally as yummy! You can't go wrong with their pop tarts (which are from another local business, Hardbitten) or their breakfast sandwiches!
