Went on a Sunday for late lunch/early dinner, not busy at all. Inside was nice and cool, cute tables outside. Three of us ordered 3 sandwiches and ice teas bill was $93. Tri tip was ok a little dry. Each side came with a small side and homemade potato chips, when food was brought out we were told they were out of potato chips. We were not offered any other choice so I asked the server if another side could be substituted and she politely said no. For the price I find that crazy and poor service. The table behind us was ordering and they were out of something else on the menu . As we were leaving another couple walked in and asked if the could sit at a table and were told that side of the (small) restaurant was closed and they couldn't sit there. After working many years in the restaurant business these are all small free things that could have been done to promote customer service. For a small restaurant you would think they would go out of their way to accommodate guests. Most likely won't be back. read more

We enjoyed a wonderful outdoor evening dinner. Ambiance was lovely and the service was great! Our group had the brisket dinner and fish and chips. The brisket was perfectly cooked and the BBQ sauce was the absolute star of the dinner - perfect blend of sweet and tangy. The side dishes we had were the mashed potatoes with gravy, Mac-n-cheese, and green beans. The green beans were wonderful but the potatoes and Mac-n-cheese were under-seasoned which was solved by adding our own salt and pepper. Both the gravy for the mashed potatoes and the sauce for the fish-n-chips were too thin for our liking but the overall dinner was great. Horrible experience, would not recommend this restaurant!! Service: While I can understand restaurants are short staffed and can be busy, to be completely ignored for 30min and waited for food for over 1hr was ridiculous. We were a party of 7 that walked in and sat when it was not busy. We had to get our own utensils and menu and had to flag the waiter (older gentleman) many times during our visit. 3 parties had walked in after us and all got served before us. The only reason the waiter finally came over was because the busboy called him. Food: Calamari was over cooked and the amount we got in basket looked more like leftovers. The Olympic burger was also overcooked and chicken salad was dry. I will say, the zucchini fries and tortilla soup was delicious, but not enough to come back. Oh, boy, I really wish I didn't have to write this review. We've been coming here for 20 years and since our daughter was home for a visit we decided to come for Valentine's Day. We looked forward to it all week. My husband and I had last been around August - it never occurred to me to check to see if it has changed hands. The service was friendly and quick, the r&b singer had a beautiful voice, and the cocktail was alright. Unfortunately, the food was terrible. The pork sparerib meat was red. I know what it's supposed to look like - pink, not red. They were hard to cut apart - normally they are tender and you can pull them apart. We all stopped eating them. The Mac and cheese was dry, the French fries were no longer handcut and tasted reheated. The baked sweet potato had a spoonful of brown sugar and a little butter. It used to be covered in butter and sugar and was a real treat. Oh, and no wet wipes anymore either. At a rib place. So for two hundred dollars we have a bunch of baby backs we have to cook (doubt we can get them tender by recooking, though), and a sweet potato to doctor up. We really loved this place and the former owner and his family, and always had a delicious meal here. It's sad it's over. read more

I feel before we write off a location my husband and I will give you 3 times and then you have a STRIKE OUT .... The first recent time was great, the second was questionable, however this is our third time and I will NOW SHARE THAT THIS PLACE IS A 5 STAR AND ON POINT. Shout out to Alfredo the service, the Chief, The Team members and the owner Anne/Ann. This is definitely a place you all should check out. The food was on point, the energy was amazing and they even had live music, this was way beyond what we expected. Please Note: this round was dinner time. This time, our favorites were definitely the fish and chips, mozzarella sticks, pear salad, and finally dessert carrot cake... We even had food left over to take home for our lunch for tomorrow. Well in closing to all of you foodies despite a review or 2 from others that didn't give this place a really good chance.... you might reconsider the return. The food quality is pretty good, and the servers are very nice, but for what you pay for I think it's a little much, I got an order of mozzarella sticks, the bbq chicken sandwich with the chips and side subbed for fries, and an order of the white cut corn on top of that. When I say all of this was 50 dollars for one person I'm not joking, my biggest overall gripe about that is that I have to sacrifice the side and pay extra if I still want it, just because I don't really think the chips here are good, for all the restaurants in downtown Glendora that have insanely good value frisellas is a wallet trap, good food but boujie prices, also a 6 dollar soft drink is just highway robbery, take me to Costco any day of the week over that inflated price. read more

Most of us have a few friends who we only see but once or twice a year; the testament to those friendships is that the time apart does not ever seem to detract from time together, and may even enhance it. It's that feeling like you sort of just pick up where you left off, and celebrate those brief moments together without worry of the next long-term separation. Yesterday, I found myself in that situation with three of my oldest friends from middle and high school... after our annual round of golf we've played for the last 21 years, we all had the idea of extending our time together by grabbing a bite to eat. Since we were fairly close to Glendora, one buddy suggested this restaurant... and since I had never been there (and have not sat down in a restaurant since February 2020 anyway), I was happy to try something new. We were seated outside in the tent, near the heater, by a young lady in a mask and face shield. Other diners were casually sitting at their designated and widely-separated tables, no masks and no worries. I ordered the Smoked Tri-Tip Sandwich, and added cheese and onions, side of criss-cut fries-- this is a great sandwich! BBQ sauce on the side made it really pop, and the slow cooked meat was melt in your mouth good! Our server kept drinks full, extra napkins at the ready, and made sure we were happy. When I went inside to use the restroom, I got that little pang of sadness: the booths inside--like so many other hard working and beloved restaurants--are being used for to-go container storage instead of serving as cozy little enclaves for people to enjoy great food and company. But I can only hope that as we find our way back to normal, I can come here another time in the future, find a comfortable place inside, and enjoy the world's triumphant return to the little things we all took for granted... like sharing a meal with old friends. I had a poor experience picking up takeout at this establishment . To begin, the setup of the restaurant is a bit strange. There isn't a hostess stand or place to check in at the front of the restaurant. It was late Monday night. There were not many patrons at the restaurant. Upon entering, I had to walk through the restaurant to the back to get some help. There were two staff members working the registers. I stood right in front of them for over 10 minutes before I was acknowledged. I waited to pay for my takeout order that I saw was ready on the counter. While one of the staff members began to help me, my interaction was interrupted by the other worker, who was having trouble entering a ticket in. This proceeded to happen several more times. After my payment was processed, I had to wait for the person who had taken my card, to finish attending the other staff member before I got my card back. If I was solely rating this experience on the service, I would give it a 1 star. I ordered a brisket sandwich. It was a little on the greasy side. The home style chips were nice though. The chips were thicker cut and had a satisfying crunchy texture. I am giving this place a 2 star rating because the food was alright. read more

We were seated right away and placed our orders. My daughter Karen had the same dish as mine. We had their "Quarter chicken with spare ribs combo with two sides" The meat was tender, seasoned just right, not too salty or too spicy. Big portions which I finished, I also had their cole slaw and baked potatoes, the gravy was delicious. I also had the strawberry limeade. Everything was delicious, nothing special. I noticed the staff were friendly and attentive. Henry was our server, and we figured out later on that he was the manager, lol! He was awesome and checked on us several times. And the way he treated us was like family with all smiles. I really didn't care how the food was but if you have good service like this, I would keep coming back. People are talking about how good their salad is, so I'm coming back for that. The restaurant is spacious, clean, lighting is not too bright, not too dim, just enough so you can see what you're eating, lol! Bathrooms are clean, noise level is moderate, and service is fast. If parking gets challenging, there's a parking area a few steps to the left. I would come back to try out the other dishes. Ended up getting a small dry chunk of meat with no flavor and unseasoned mashed potatoes with pitiful gravy. The green beans it came with were the best part of the plate. This was my first time trying this place. I've seen this place on Yelp many times and today I mustard up to give this place a try. I placed an order for pickup the friendliness over the phone with Brandi and greeting as I walked in was very welcoming. I ordered the western bacon burger, no bacon, no BBQ no cheese or anything western about this burger at all and found out when I arrived at home. I called and spoke with Brandi and asked if this can be resolved at a later day and will be taking care of me on my next return. I'm perfectly fine with that. I will say this there burgers are no joke and HUGE! I can't even finish the burger and the fresh bun is a great added touch. Favorable Despite the mix up I will definitely be returning, I appreciate the service and how quickly they fix mistakes. We've been here several times in the last few years. Barbecue restaurants are generally a little more expensive but I just don't feel the overall experience at Frisella's Roastery is worth the price compared to places like Gus's Barbecue and Jakes Roadhouse and they are not necessarily five stars in their own right. But at least when I leave those places I feel satisfied and I have leftovers to take home. Service is like most restaurants these days depending on how busy and the individual servers you happen to get. read more

I'm not a huge BBQ fan so most of the time I'm disappointed by it; usually because it's dry or overcooked. That is definitely NOT the case at Frisella's. I ordered a chicken/ribs combo and I will tell you that it was AMAZING. Frankly, I now realize that maybe I've just never had authentic BBQ. Both the chicken and meat were cooked to perfection. I was dreading having to eat the ribs because it's always so messy but I needn't worry; the meat literally fell off the bone. I just used my fork to pull off the meat and I was able to eat it all without barely needing a napkin. I took leftovers home and my husband said that was the best chicken he'd ever had. I like the food here when they remember to include things like dressing for the salads, which is hit and miss if I actually receive it. Tonight, I ordered a "fruit cup" for $7 and they gave me 4 very thin slices of red apple and 14 grapes. I will not order this again - I'm kind of confused why they valued this food that's extremely easy to prepare and very inexpensive to purchase from a distributor at this cost to their customer. I like this place, though my last 2 visits have been less than great. Both times it took a bit too long for anyone to greet us when we entered the restaurant. This most recent visit one employee or another walked right past us 4 times. They did not make eye contact, acknowledge or welcome us in any way. Our previous visit we saw a couple come in and also have to stand unassisted for a while, they eventually gave up and left. There were several tables that needed to be cleared. They must have had a rush before we arrived. It gave an untidy appearance at first, but to their credit, the tables were cleared pretty quickly thereafter. My previous visit I got the tuna sandwich, which I enjoyed very much. This time it was not very good. Not much tuna, too much onion and mayo. Some of the diced onion was cut quite large making bites that tasted only of onion. For this reason I'll not order the tuna again. Overall the food is good and fresh. They seem to be having some consistency, staffing and service issues of late. These are newer problems for the restaurant that we never experienced in prior years (I know the restaurant changed ownership not too long ago). Hoping they can get things together. I was tempted to leave only 3 stars based on my most recent 2 visits, but I feel that is unfair given the many times I have eaten here before and been quite pleased. read more

It had been a while since I had ribs so I ordered a half rack to see what I had missed. Wow! They were delicious! Meaty, juicy, and rich with flavors from the fat and marinate. I could only eat 2 or 3 and packed the rest to take home. They lasted for a couple of meals so I was happy for the next 2 days. Menu has changed a bit since I last visited and they no longer are open for breakfast. They also no longer serve the massive chicken wings that they used to have. I don't miss them. Super disappointed with our take out order tonight. 1) Their website says the sugar baked sweet potato is a Side. But they won't let you order it as a side. When I called to place my order, I was told the website hasn't been updated in years. When I went in to pick up my order, the manager defended the inaccuracy saying it is one of a side because for $8 you could order it on the side of anything else, but it no's not an entree side. Unnecessarily confusing. Please update your website. 2) They didn't give me my green bean side that I ended up ordering. Missing food completely in a take out ordering a big no-no Frisella's. You owe me $5 and an apology. 3) Management was unable/unwilling to make a gluten-free accommodation to the Chicken Tostada Salad to swap out the flour tortilla shell for corn tortilla chips. (Yes, they have and sell both). Fail. 4) I asked for a second dressing on the side and didn't get it. This is seemingly one of those restaurants that can't figure out to-go orders, or how to accommodate food allergies. Too bad because the proteins tasted good.
