    Hot dogs and fries
    Ivy Y.

Wow. That was bad. What a shame as this was my first time at a Friendly's. We came for lunch as a party of six around 1:30pm on a Sunday. They seemed severely understaffed while being more than half capacity. The service was friendly and courteous but very slow. We didn't even have our drink order taken for 10 minutes after we were seated. The food was eh. I had a crock of broccoli cheddar soup that tasted "powdery" if that makes sense? It gave me the impression the soup is a powder mix they mix into water or milk or something. The flavor was good but the texture was a little weird. Besides that I had a Short Rib Mash SuperMelt with fries. My daughter had a grilled cheese with fries that wasn't very grilled, my husband had two hotdogs with fries, and the three other people in our party had burgers and fries which I neglected to take pics of. The fries were cold and mealy. But we were hungry so most of us ate them. Everyone's a opinion of their food was like mine. Eh. The first coffee cup my server brought out to me had lipstick on it and my daughter's lemonade had a black fleck of something floating around in the bottom of the glass. I had to go stand by the kitchen door to catch one of the three servers because if I'd just waited for our server to come back it was gonna be a while. It was pretty depressing being in there. Babies crying, which happens and isn't a big deal except when the vibe is already really bad, every table was irritated with the slow service and the expressions on everyone's faces was anger or annoyance. Yikes. The stars are for the server who seemed to be doing a pretty good job considering what she was dealing with. Although none of the servers seems to have any sense of urgency about them. The majority of issues we experienced weren't her fault so we still tipped generously.

A coupon code that they don't honor anymore??

The food was literally something I could buy from the store and make myself. There was a coupon on the table that if you scanned it and signed up you could get a free medium sundae but they "weren't using it anymore". Take it off all the tables then?! The carpet was DISGUSTING, it looked like it hasn't been cleaned in years. It took a long time to get our food too and we were seated next to the kitchen and could hear the staff coughing and giggling and screaming to eachother. I will never step foot in a friendlys again and honestly am shocked they are even still open. The only pro was that our waitress was very nice. I don't usually post bad reviews but I'm mindblown by how bad this place was... even for a friendlys. Ps, don't get the mini mozz sticks. They don't even look the same as they do on the menu

I will start by saying the food was really good for the most part. Service was slow, but they were busy, so that's understandable. The problem I have is the server, Kyung G, was walking around the entire time making inpatient noises and sly comments constantly. If you don't like your job, find another one. I would suggest if you go here, request a different server if you get her. Other than that, it was all really good.

Awesome place to eat, fantastic food and ice cream! Disabled friendly, very nice servers, I guess it's in the name " Friendly's".

    Kid's Monster Mash Sundae

Ordered a quick to-go meal for lunch. The order came out 15 minutes after the scheduled time but luckily they have a system of not preparing the ice-cream until the food is ready. The food was fine however the mozzarella sticks had no marinara sauce which was quite disappointing. The monster mash sundae was just like I remembered it and overall it was a good meal. It's best to go at the quieter times because they're understaffed so wait times may be very long!

Enjoyed the fish and chips. Also the hot fudge sundae was very good but skimpy on quantity.

We ordered for pick-up and the food and ice cream was ready when we arrived. Food hot and ice cream was cold and delicious as usual.

It's been a while since I'd last been but everything is as amazing as I remembered…read more I've seen them advertise their monthly "flight night" events for some time but never actually had been to one. When I saw an espresso martini and cake pairing, I knew I had to pull the trigger. Met up with some friends and we all ordered food beforehand to offset the impending sugar rush. I'd had their naan pizza in the past and loved it, so this time I went with the one that had caramelized onions and goat cheese. AMAZING. Crispy crust, melty cheese, tangy onions and the perfect amount of everything in every bite. Then onto the main event: the flights! The staff brought over our cake and drinks and were so great about explaining what to pair together. (There was also a card) Desserts were a carrot cake with the most impossibly airy icing, a pistachio cheesecake with chocolate ganache, and a chocolate cake with a light nutella icing. I'm usually a carrot cake girlie and while I enjoyed it, the cheesecake was actually my favorite. Just the perfect pistachio flavor and a wonderful consistency -- so, so smooth. Our waitress told us that the owner is the one that makes all of the desserts too. A multi-talented queen. As far as the martinis, my favorite was the affogato one. These flight-nights are one-off events and the items aren't normally on the menu, so if you see one that looks extra appealing, get yourself there! I've been for normal service too though, and honestly, never have had a misfire here. One thing I especially love is the option to order drinks in 5oz pours, a godsend for lightweights like me. Ambiance, food, drinks, all excellent.

They have a wide range of meal and drink options, with most items sounding appetizing. My husband and I both got lavender drinks; him a lavender marg, and I a lavender lemonade. They were very syrupy, which made it hard to finish the drinks, even though they the flavor was great. We got garlic bread as an app, and it was much more greasy than one would expect. But it was still very tasty. Only down side was that the grease weighted down our stomachs, so it was hard to finish the entrees. Dinner was very good; I had the six cheeses mac n cheese, and Ryan got fish n chips. Both were a good portion for the price, which is always nice. Again, it wasn't a bad experience! I just wasn't blown away/ i didnt feel that I need to go back in the future.

We've eaten here a bunch - mostly due to proximity and lack of other options. The food is wildly…read moreinconsistent; sometimes, we're surprised at how good a dish is (usually a special or seasonal dish), but if we order it again, it's never the same. The biggest issues: - Many things seem to have a lot of oil involved. From the side vegetables to the burgers to the "garlic bread" served on the side of the pasta dishes - there's a strong, oily taste. It's not a pleasant oil - my guess is it's ostensibly neutral, like a vegetable or canola, though it leaves a flavor that suggests it's not entirely neutral. Perhaps a fake butter? Why it's so ubiquitous is anyone's guess, but it leaves an unpleasant film in your mouth. While I understand restaurants use a lot more oil/butter than home cooking (it's often why we like restaurant food better), this oil is not good. - The fries. I guess some people like them; I loved shoestring fries as a kid, but these aren't the same. They have no flavor (aside from the aforementioned oil), and they're the consistency of McDonald's fries, but drier and harder. Recently, we got an order that came with a new, more traditional style fry, and they were so good. We were excited that they finally ditched the cardboard variety but that apparently was a one-off - today showed that they seemed to revert to the old style, unfortunately. - They had an amazing chicken bacon ranch pizza for a while, until one day when it was gone. I think the secret was smoked Gouda, but whatever they used, it was a great pizza. When it disappeared from the menu, I inquired and was told, "oh yeah, lots of people are asking for that." So I said, "is it coming back, then?" I was told it's "doubtful," which kinda sums up my experiences there. Everyone loved it and wants it back? Better get rid of it, then. - The kids menu options are somewhat insulting to children. The "grilled cheese" uses what appear to be hamburger buns, so carelessly made that they seldom match up (that is, the top will be skewed off so the sandwich isn't put together). The kids pasta dishes are just plain noodles, usually undercooked, with no seasoning (i.e. salt) or other attention to preparation. The inconsistency is really the biggest issue for me. Things range from "fine" to "bad," but even if you stick with one menu item, you don't know what you're going to get. Non-chain, family-friendly restaurants are seemingly hard to find in this area, so I really wish they were better. We've kept at this place far longer than we probably should, again due to convenience, and because every now and then, a dish will be surprisingly good. However, those instances are becoming so rare, I think we're done for a good while. I do hope they improve.

Quality of the food depends. The $18 salad was a plate of iceberg lettuce with a few scraps of cheese thrown on. The salad was the biggest disappointment. On the other hand, the classic poutine was bang on. Great ratio of gravy to fries, everything was nice, all the flavors were right. But the rest of the poutines have too much quality variation, which is unforgivable for a place advertising their 12 different kinds of poutine. None of the other flavors were nearly as good as the classic, with combos that didn't work. The burger was tasty. However, it was supposed to be medium and it was very rare. The beer cheese pretzel was also disappointing. The cheese had been cooked too long, or maybe microwaved, because it had seized and was very coarse and mealy. The amount of cheese was also not enough for the pretzel. Service was great. No complaints about any of the waitresses or hostesses. Overall, a fine place near downtown to get a classic poutine and an artisanal beer. Stay away from everything else.
