Small space in the Best Western (very old school, can't remember the last time I ate in a destination restaurant at a Best Western). Reservations are a must. If you reserve on Open Table interestingly they write down your reservation at the hostess stand by your first name in a book, not a computer (very old school). Knowing this will save you some time and angst when you check in. The tables are placed close together (Reminds me of being in Manhattan). The Crabcakes were good but not the lump crabcakes you would get in Maryland. The Sicilian Steamers were outstanding. Had the 30 oz bone-in ribeye which was the best steak I've had in Syracuse. The garlic mashed were great. The almond cake was amazing. Had a great time. Next time I'll have to try one of their Italian entrees. I am compelled to leave an honest and disappointing review. As with many in the area at graduation, we were looking for a place to have a great meal and we were excited to learn about a steakhouse that was super attentive and provided quality and well cooked meals. We were extra excited by what seemed to be their signature dish, steak and mashed potatoes. Well, we had an 8pm reservation, which to me is normal time, but seems to be like a last seating for this restaurant. The place was full upon entering but emptied out quickly during our meal experience. It was just our immediate family of 4. Started with cocktails and proceeded to order the seafood trio app, which was good. Wedge salad, which was also good. Had a nice waitress who had a good sense of humor. The rest went downhill. We all ordered different types of steaks and 3 of 4 medium rare, one NY Strip medium. Ordered a side of Brussel sprouts and some other accompanying sauces. All 3 steaks came out in variations of well done - gross! On an even more disappointing note, we were told there is no more mashed potatoes, which is why we chose this place, and then told only 2 baked potatoes, so we had to decide who gets it and who doesn't. A TERRIBLE thing to happen at a steak restaurant, in addition to ruining what seemed to be quality steaks. The Brussel sprouts came out overly well done drenched in their sauce. Bite into any of them and they were totally deflated and not good. We couldn't even eat it. The waitress came back and asked how things were... my wife's fillet was so over cooked the waitress even agreed and offered to remake. By this time it was almost 9:15 and she lost her appetite. The three of us just didn't mention how ours were because it would have just caused chaos that none of us wanted. We NEVER send back food, but in this case, hers was insanely overcooked. We asked to have it removed from the bill, which they did. Regardless, we dropped $430, including a $70 tip (because I am generous... waitress should have done a lot more for us when noticing the quality of what was served to us) for the 4 of us, with only 3 main meals. Just a real poor experience. I'm hoping this was just an isolated happening, but completely upset it happened to us for my daughter's graduation, son's 25th Bday and our 27th Anniversary. All that weekend. Advice to owner: please ensure you have enough product for your reservations. We were not walk-ins. Then, listen to the customer's request for how they prefer their steaks to be cooked and serve as ordered. 8pm reservation should not make a difference from a 6pm. I'm just really disappointed and wish we went to Ts instead, but liked the idea of smaller and more intimate. read more

It was a busy evening at Daniella's steakhouse when we stopped by this past weekend. It was not our first visit. If you visit for dine in, especially during the winter, make sure to ask to not be by the doors. There is a table right across the door that gets super cold, and also is a bit frustrating of a spot since people walking in, or waitresses walking by to greet, constantly bump into you or your chairs. The ambiance is a bit hit or miss for me. I enjoy the lower lighting, but the atmosphere can feel a bit too intimate due to how close in proximity you are to others dining in. It's especially odd to me as a high end eating establishment to sit so closely to others. Food wise it is fine dining, so it is pricy. We really enjoyed the seafood trio for two, except it was a bit awkward to eat the small shredded crab pieces with no spoon. We also felt it would have been better if it also came with butter. The seared scallops were delicious, soft and had great flavor with a savory garlic butter sauce. But, it also felt strange to not come with some sort of green vegetable especially for the price. The waitress was kind, and as we were celebrating we got a fireworks styled candle and dessert. The table picked thier choice of selections but I stuck with the almond butter cake. I would like to preface this with Daniella's WAS our #1 steakhouse until the last visit. Hade our dinner last month. Formally complained to Charlie, email at the bottom. Promised to make it right. Had to reach out almost a month later and he said someone must have dropped the ball, understandable. Yet we received a 50$ gift card today. Slap in the face if you ask me for the money I spent on a horrible dinner. Email: For years, your restaurant has been our family's absolute favorite steakhouse. We've easily dined there dozens of times, often bringing the whole family. Last night was extremely disappointing. We were shocked to learn that the spinach artichoke dip--one of the main reasons we keep coming back--has been removed from the menu related to length of the dish. We noticed the prices had jumped over 20% (which we understand prices have rose but...), but then learned that my entrée no longer included any vegetable side for a very expensive diner. My wife ordered the filet medium; it arrived well-done and the baked potato was badly burnt. She hates complaining, so she quietly left more than half the steak on her plate. I ordered the frenched veal chop. When I cut along the bone, the meat was ice-cold and completely raw in the center. The server asked if they should "just throw it back on the grill" or make a new one. I asked for a new chop--as trying to salvage the original would just not be up to the typical Daniella's standards. Twenty minutes later the replacement arrived. It was now well-done except for a small raw center. At that point I sent it back and gave up on dinner entirely. Which would have been 200$, minus the steak I did not pay for we paid 130$. This was easily the worst experience we've ever had at your restaurant, and after so many great visits over the years, it's heartbreaking. I hope this was an off night and not a sign of declining standards, because we truly love coming there. FYI the bartender is great read more

Wow!! First of all we were bummed because we went online and it said no tables were available, so we called and they were able to accommodate us(2) . Thank goodness !!! What an amazing place.. the wait staff was great ... but then when we met the owner Charlie it just brightened our entire evening. He made sure we were enjoying are meal which by the way was Unbelievable!!! Best steak I have had in a very long time!!! We are so glad we were able to try this wonderful place.. If in the area definitely try it out. We were there for Syracuse Graduation... hopefully we can try it again some time! But WAIT there is more!!! We always have dinner in the bar. Brian makes you feel like you are at his house having cocktails. The food? Outrageously delicious. I can appreciate that this isn't a chain, and yes, the prices are about 10% higher than chain steakhouses, but the quality of meat is exceptional, well worth the splurge. A wonderful surprise of an experience inside a Best Western. Very intimate setting with exceptional service. Dinner was truly outstanding and a romantic decor. Soups are full of flavor, including French Onion and a New England Clam Chowder special. The calamari steak is a must have on the regular menu for an appetizer... Best I've had since Hawaii. The seared tuna special was seasoned and prepared flawlessly. For the entrée, they do justice to lamb chops with blue cheese. Dessert is worth saving room for. The peanut butter mouse was thick and filled with chocolate and nuts. The bread is not something to be overlooked. Fresh and hot with a sweet butter cream. Wow. Another great Yelp find. The food was amazing as along with the service. I wish I could provide pictures but the ambience was very relaxing and dark so a flash would have been needed and did not want to bother other patrons. Do not judge by its outside looks; by that I mean it is attached to a hotel. I did not ask but going to assume it was part of a mom and pop hotel that ended up selling to a bigger name place, but the restaurant stayed. We made reservations ahead of time, because they can't guarantee a table even on a Thursday night. The dining room is not large and they are a very popular restaurant. We are always greeted warmly and we were seated promptly. Our server,Kim, was extremely attentive throughout our meal. I had the French Onion Soup and it was delicious. The broth was richly flavored with just the right amount of salt, a nice amount of onions and crostoni...and the cheese on top, swiss and provolone, was broiled. Many places just melt the cheese but broiling gives added flavor. My scallops were cooked nicely and my baked potato was huge. My husband had the Chicken Marsala with red mashed potatoes and vegetables. He finished everything and said it was perfect. They make their desserts in house so I had the Butter Cake a la mode and my husband had the Chocolate Mousse, both were excellent.The owner, Charley, was walking around the dining room and talking with his customers and it seemed like many of them were regulars. Every time we pull into the parking lot, I'm once again amazed that a cozy, fine dining spot is located in a hotel (albeit with a separate entrance). The restaurant is dimly lighted in an intimate setting and a perfect venue in which to celebrate a special occasion. Because we've dined before with nary a glitch, it's good to be reminded that any establishment can have one, or two, on any given night. What sets Daniella's apart is the serving staff. While enjoying dinner at Daniella's last evening, there were a few hiccups but our server Jeff was willing to jump through hoops to make us happy. He really went above and beyond while being stretched to the limit to provide excellent service. Our meals were delicious as we expected they would be and thanks to Jeff, he saved the night. I was very excited to try Daniella's as I entered the small but well appropriated space. The dim lighting set a very intimate mood. I had heard so many positive things about this place and all of it proved true. Misty was our server and she was exceptional, anticipating our every need. I ordered the pork chop, as well as the house salad. Both were outstanding. The house salad was large and included roasted red peppers, and chickpeas, Something you never get on a house salad. The pork chop was enormous, but I did good work of it and finished every bit. It was so tender. I've never had a pork chop like this before. my husband ordered the steak Diane and he said it was the best he ever had. We realize that between the service and the food at Daniella's. It was much better than other so-called fine dining restaurants in the area. I am glad we made reservations as this restaurant is small. I think this will become a favorite of ours. To top it off, a few days later we received a phone call from the owner Charlie Roman thanking us for dining there. No Charlie, thank you for providing us with a wonderful evening. read more

From the first greeting by host Charlie Roman to him getting in a group picture with us when we were leaving, it was a top-notch evening. Drinks at the bar to start, a table near the bar for dinner with our next door neighbors, and a wonderful meal of steaks, chicken and pork with perfect side dishes. Charlie is a funny, genuine, and gracious person that makes the evening special for every one of his patrons. Our server Kimmie was also a delightful lady and added to the joy of the occasion. I just had a wonderful experience here. I was a little suspicious at first seeing that it shared a building with Best Western, but that had no effect on it whatsoever. There is limited seating when you enter and a separate section for the bar. It's dark and intimate and has smooth jazz playing in the background. We were greeted by Denise and Misty. Denise was our server and she was terrific. Polite, professional, adorable. Misty was also all of those adjectives. The French Onion soup was great. It was on the beefier side, which I like. The beefy taste melded well with the onions and cheese. It was very savory. I would get this again. I was not too big of a fan of the crab cakes though. I prefer lump crab cakes, where it's more crab than cake. I did however really enjoy the remoulade that came with it. It saved the crab cakes, but I honestly probably wouldn't get them again. I'd opt to try another appetizer - there's quite a few that sound and look good. I ordered the filet mignon, medium rare with Gorgonzola as a topper and the garlic mashed potatoes as the side and a medley of vegetables. It was a quality cut of meat and cooked and seasoned perfectly. I loved it. The potatoes were great and I enjoyed the vegetables. Oh, and the Gorgonzola topper was an explosion of flavor that went so well with the filet. My husband ordered the 50oz. bone-in cowboy cut ribeye. He devoured it. Luckily, I was able to get a few bites of it before he finished. It was delicious. Cooked medium rare, well seasoned, and honestly for such a thick cut of meat, I'm impressed. We split an order of creamed spinach. I liked it, my husband loved it. My only knock would be the crispy onions that were on top of it. Next time I would do without them, BUT I will get this again next time. To wrap up the meal, we split an Almond Butter Cake. OUTRAGEOUS. Don't even think about this, just get it. Terrific desert. This is a place I will come back to. I'm already planning my next trip back for my MIL's birthday. The reputation Daniella's has is well deserved. read more

Finally had a chance to try the famous Daniella's Steakhouse in Syracuse! Had a 7:30 reservation on a Friday night. Arrived right on time, but it seemed like they had several reservations at the same time. We waited about 15 minutes and were eventually seated. For how popular this restaurant is, it seems like they could easily expand to a larger location! Despite the short wait, the food was delicious! My NY Strip was cooked perfectly and the portions allowed me to enjoy two more meals later on. I am a bit of a snob when it comes to the cooking of steak, but Daniella's was spot on! Food: My friend and I ordered the sirloin, cooked too our liking. Delicious. Worth the cost? Probably not. Our other friend ordered the filet, topped with gorgonzola, we assumed that meant some crumbles, instead it was smothered in this creamy cheese sauce. I think we just read the description wrong so not really the restaurants mistake. But the topping, she said was inedible. Ambiance: for a fine dining establishment the place was crowded, loud, and outdated. They had me sitting in a chair up against another table and booth, so every time the other party had to get up, I had to get up. I should have complained. The woman who was behind me went to the restroom three times, and then there was another party seated behind us after that so in the middle of my dining I had to get up four times. Which doesn't sound like a big deal but when I'm paying $100 at least per person, I expect to be comfortable and seated. Service: I don't know if this was an off night, the service was beyond slow. The waitress was sweet, but the time it took between cocktails and then by the time the dinner came, an hour and a half passed, and once we ask for our check that came about a half hour later. I know this place gets wonderful reviews, so maybe this was just an off night. But for the money we spent I would not be going back. read more

Went for an early dinner with my friends after the Home & Garden show today at the Exposition Center. It was dark in the dining area but our eyes became adjusted. We were waited on promptly and ordered some glasses of red wine. I love NY strip steak so I had to go with that. I chose a baked potato and mixed vegetables. It was cooked perfectly at medium rare and the potato was cooked perfectly with butter and sour cream on the side. The vegetables were mixed and tasty (not mushy which I appreciated). I could only eat half my meal because I saved room for desert. I had the cream brûlée which was creamy with the topping perfectly torched. The waitress was amazing and made us feel relaxed and took care of us. A very pleasant experience and I will be back when I want an amazing steak. read more
