Totally authentic bbq. We had the two meat combo and the brisket plate. The plates were enough for two people each though we are not huge eaters. The brisket was amazing. For the two meat combo also had the pulled pork which was also very good. Each comes with two sides. We had fries, mashed potatoes, black beans and rice and coleslaw. Only didn't like the coleslaw. The service was quick and friendly.

First time visiting Dinosaur Bar-B-Que and I had high expectations. Everyone told me this is an iconic spot in Syracuse, and I was not disappointed. I was upstairs with a private event. The space is massive, could likely hold 300 people comfortably. There's even a stage space, great for karaoke or a work event. We were served buffet style and everything was INCREDIBLE. Things easily dry out on a buffet line, but not here. Everything was fresh, juicy and tender. My favorite was the pulled pork and mac and cheese. I'll definitely be back the next time im in the area!

Came here on vacation and after seeing reviews had to try it out. As a former Texan, I am picky about my 'Que, and was very impressed with their offerings. Ribs were the clear winner; I prefer dry rub on brisket, but all-in-all, very satisfying.

This place is great! A must go to if you're in Syracuse, NY. Guy Fieri has been there and their food is bomb! The service was great and we didn't have to wait long for a time, given their popularity.

We ordered the 1/2 family platter and chose the brisket over pork for our three meats platter that included 1/2 a chicken along with pork ribs. Service was prompt at 5 pm. We gobbled down the food so quickly and barely took a breath. Our two sides were greens with smoked turkey and a cucumber with tomato salad. Hubby got a Guinness on tap and I got Saranac root beer. The ambiance was dark woods and casual. The BBQ was so good that the meats fell off the bones. Perfect place for BBQ.

Great Ribs and Brisket always Dinosaur BBQ is an old favorite of mine from the first time I tried them in Harlem, NY. The ribs and brisket, are always awesome at Dinosaur, this time was no different. Tender crusty pork ribs were meaty. Brisket was fall apart tender. Great corny flavor in the cornbread too. I generally never skip dessert because the desserts are great too. They sell their own branded bottled BBQ sauce which Ipicked up on a prior visit also. A Wednesday afternoon table was easy to get for my large group. My server was attentive. My meal came quickly after ordering. Metered street parking is nearby.

As a part of a New Weekly Initiative as Yelp Elite and working in local Syracuse Entertainment i plan to do a weekly try of something in Syracuse before my gig and we are calling it Takeout Thursdays! The inaugural one for syracuse had to be dinosaurs. Sit down or takeout the food was hot, flavorful, large enough for 2 meals and felt like I got the most bang for my buck. The tres Nino platter acts a sampling of Pulled Pork, Brisket, and Ribs. With it I got both Mac Salad and Mac N Cheese as well as a piece of corn bread. The Pulled pork was the smallest portion of the three but still worth all 3 bites. The slices of brisket were filling. The mac n cheese has always been my favorite side from them with its size and addition of BBQ seasonings its unique and never disappoints. The ribs and Mac Salad were tasty and large enough they will make a second meal. There is a reason people come from all over for it.

We came here 19 years ago and were excited to go again tonight now with our kids. We ordered a to go order. There is street parking and we found a spot not to far from the place. We showed our family the place and the hostess was so nice. Then we went to pick up our to go order. This was not the best process though. We wanted to buy some sauces and rubs. Izzy seemed annoyed to help us. I asked to know options since there is not a display of options by register. She begrudgingly showed us and we bought several. She gave us our order but forgot to give us the drinks. Luckily I asked and she did give them to us. So that process of pick up was not a nice process. When we got back to our place we tried our order. It was amazing. I got the pulled pork platter with coleslaw and Mac n cheese. My kid gave me his baked beans. It also came with cornbread. My husband got jalapeño cheddar sausage and brisket which was great with side of smoked turkey and greens. This side was amazing and so flavorful. My son got the Cuban sandwich and enjoyed it. We also got an order of deviled eggs which were yummy. The food was amazing. It was as good as we remembered.

Just what you would expect from this staple BBQ joint. As soon as you get within 100 feet of the entrance you get the smoky aroma of deliciousness entering your lungs. Got seated in about 20 minutes after enjoying a nice Prison City Mass Riot at the bar. Food came quickly and we were all enjoying our choices. I went with the glorious brisket and the jalapeño cheese smoked sausage. The creamy Mac and cheese and the crisp vinegar laced coleslaw compliment the tender meat perfectly. A sweet little piece of cornbread round out this meal. A+ experience

My aunt and I had a little dinner date on a Wednesday night for some early dinner and this was the perfect time to go to Dinosaur! We were seated right away as the only table in the first room and by the time we left, not only the room we sat in but the entire restaurant was full and started a waiting list. I was excited to sit down and try some of their well known items since I have only ever tried their food catered. Since I wanted to try some of everything, the tres niños is the perfect menu item! I got to try the pulled pork, ribs, and prime brisket with two sides. It was all hot, flavorful, and yummy! My aunt also really enjoyed her sandwich and there was extra sauces on the table to add some more spice. Our waiter was so kind, attentive, fast, and efficient! Our meal came out super quick, which is a great part of beating the crowd as well. The front room we sat in does get a bit foggy with all the grills right next to us but that wasn't an issue. This was a lot of food and I saved some for lunch the next day - two meals in one is always a plus!

I had the chance to visit this spot while in Syracuse for a graduation. When we arrived, the wait time for a party of four was quoted at 35-40 minutes, but it ended up being closer to 25, despite the long-looking line moving fairly quickly. The place was crowded--likely due to the graduation--but I've heard it's popular year-round. Our waitress (wish I'd gotten her name!) was excellent--super attentive and helpful with menu recommendations. I ordered the 6-piece dry rub BBQ ribs with fries and crispy coleslaw. The ribs were meaty and fell off the bone, though the tangy BBQ sauce wasn't quite to my taste--I usually prefer a sweeter flavor like Sweet Baby Ray's. The coleslaw was vinegar-based, and I tend to like it sweeter, so that wasn't my favorite either. The fries were more on the softer side than crispy--perfect if you're a fan of that style--and I enjoyed them. I also tried a piece of brisket, but it was a bit salty for me--though I'm not usually a brisket fan, so others may love it. Overall, we had a great experience and everyone else at the table enjoyed their meals. I'd definitely visit again and try the catfish next time. It's a solid spot to hang out if you're in town.

Amazing Bar-B-Que! I had the Tres Niños to try it all. It included Prime Brisket with jalapeños, St. Louis Ribs, and Pulled Pork. The ribs were stand out! The plate also came with 2 sides and a piece of corn bread. I highly recommend both the coleslaw and the mac & cheese. You can not go wrong here!

Haven't been here in a while. It sometimes can be a long wait, and parking isn't the easiest. Went on a Monday night at 7:30 and didn't have trouble getting a table or parking nearby. The service was extremely friendly. Had the tres ninos, a smaller sampling of the pulled pork, pork ribs and brisket. Collard greens and black beans with rice as my sides. Dinosaur has great sides. The ribs were my favorite. Also love the boiled shrimp and BBQ chicken wings here. I shouldn't have stayed away this long

Walking through the restaurant was nice as the space was very large and the decor indoor was cozy and whimsical. Our server was nice throughout the meal. However, I did get a water glass that had marks on it that looked like someone just drank out of it and a crumb on the rim. I asked them if they could get me a clean cup and they ended up bringing the same one as the same mark and crumb were still there. For food, our table ordered a few items to share. We got: -CAULIFLOWER WINGS: The chutney/salsa on top of the fried cauliflower was nice and gave the item a little sour kick. However, the cauliflower itself was not cooked fully so not as soft as I wanted it to be. -SYRACUSE POUTINE: The appearance of the poutine was not the best. However, the gravy it came with was very flavorful and tasty. The potatoes themselves were not fried and were in wedge form but went well with the gravy. The small globs of melted cheese on top were a nice complement. -CAJUN SLIDERS: The slider compliments/sauce went well together but the sliders themselves had grill marks on it which gave a bitter bite to those parts of the slider. Additionally, the fried shrimp inside of the slider still had the tail on and so it was a bit of a surprise to bite into a full tail while eating a slider. All in all, a cute spot to see people but food had some hit or miss components.

The burnt end chicharrones left more to be desired. Both my partner and I thought they were dry and not tender. Also, there was something about the flavor that we did not care for. I absolutely love burnt ends from BBQ joints, and this was the first time we've ordered chicharrones so I don't have something to compare them to, but I'd suggest trying them elsewhere. As for the brussels, when we first got to the restaurant our friends were sharing them. We tried one bite and knew we had order a whole plate for ourselves! They were literally the best brussel sprouts we've ever had. The roasted garlic aioli and grana cheese were topped on perfectly cooked brussels which I would go back for. Started out with their evening appetizer of homemade bread with cinnamon butter. Each of us got our own dinner choice along with small plates to start. The two small plates were green lentil salad and ember roasted carrots. Both of them with their unique flavor and style. The green lentil salad featured heirlooms. The ember roasted carrots featured labrieth, doqqa, and maple syrup. Keep in mind everything here comes from local farms and local breweries and distilleries. Big fan of supporting the state and local community. Fantastic! They feature only a few main entrées, tonight's included halibut, steak, chicken, and sea Island peas with jasmine rice. Knowing how well seasoned their steaks are, I went with a filet mignon 10 ounce. Probably a little more than I should've gotten, but I very rarely eat steak and know how well and good they are here. Ordered the steak medium to medium rare and that's exactly how it came out. Mouth watering delicious. Along with the steak includes mashed potatoes, chimichurri, kale, and. crème fraiche. We started with the Mushroom Toast, Ember Roasted Carrots, and Beef Tartar. I'll start with the bad and finish with the good. The Ember Roasted Carrots were a complete miss. They were trying to go for a middle-eastern flavor, with each ingredient contrasting, while the carrot served as the centerpiece to flavor. I found this to be INCREDIBLY bland. The carrots were not salted enough during roasting and lacked enough char. They dish also needed more labneh than it was served with. It literally just tasted like carrots and yoghurt. Honestly, if I could only give one critique it would be to have used more salt, but this dish was a real disappointment. The Beef Tartar suffered from a similar issue. It was bland. Not enough salt was used. It unfortunately tastes like flat beef. I overheard the bartender talking to another couple and he told them they really want to highlight the ingredients. The idea is purity or something like that. And that's well and good, but you still need to season beef tartar. I don't think this is necessarily a poor execution of the dish(es) rather this is more in line with the philosophy of the kitchen, and that's fine. It's just not for me. And now for the good. The Mushroom Toast was great. It had all the things I had wanted. Fat, salt, umami, freshness. This was a good dish and I would get this again. As for the entrees, my husband and I ordered the Cappelletti and the NY Strip. The Cappelleti was the strongest dish of the night. The flavors were layered and intentional. This was a great dish and I1000% would get it again. My husband ordered the NY Strip along with bone marrow. It was cooked to perfection. Cooking it over a wood fire gave it a great char and almost Smokey flavor. It was very flavorful. The chimichurri made the steak feel lighter than it actually was. My husband loved it and I loved having a bite or two of everything together. This was a complete dish and I'd highly recommend it. The only knock I could give it is the bone marrow. There was a lack of volume in it which is probably due to being cooked over a wood fire. Parts of the bones were also over roasted. I'd skip this the next time and get the foie gras pate. Lastly, for desert we were disappointed that we could not try the rice pudding as they were out of it (we will try it the next time if available). We did however order the Flourless Chocolate Torte to share. It was made perfectly. It was rich and decadent but remained light. It was almost like a mousse, but not quite. We loved it. Overall, the had a great time. There were several highlights and I think they make up for the a couple of the earlier dishes. I'd like to see what else they have to offer when they change their menu.
