One of my favorite places to go out to for drinks and food. This place has some of the best wings in Syracuse, the best flavor (my opinion) is the salt and pepper...it comes with a special side of hot sauce, which is amazing...the other menu items are equally as good...you will be amazed at the size of their hot sandwiches, probably won't be able To finish them...my favorite hot sandwich is the Philly cheesesteak. 4/4/22 My wife read a review in the Post and we decided to have lunch. I haven't been here in years but remember the service and food were always good. We didn't know they don't serve lunch on Mondays but the bartender offered to fire up the grill for us. We ordered burgers on a toasted bun. My wife ordered hers with lettuce, onion and tomato. Just the burger with a little mayo for me. Both burgers were fantastic. One of the best tasting buns we've had in years. The buns had a nice firm texture and didn't disintegrate into a soggy, doughy mess as we ate. We were given a side of macaroni salad to go with our burgers. They also have a very good selection of beer. We will be back! read more

It was delicious although I wouldn't consider it too spicy. The wings were crispy and tender. This place is located in a pretty sketchy part of town. There's a huge parking lot behind the building and the staff here recommends using the backdoor and going through the kitchen to get inside, for increased safety reasons. You can still use the front door during daylight hours, but I think they lock it up once it starts getting darker. If you're concerned about safety, then go during daylight hours at lunch or something. It's not bad at all during this time. I heard this place had the best salt and pepper wings in town and so I had to come and try it! It's a regular dive bar kind of place. Lots of room for sitting and hanging out. The people here are friendly, but straight to the point. They weren't too chatty with us, but that's okay too. We ordered our brews and an order of wings to split. We got the classic hot wings and an order of salt and pepper wings. You can go ahead and just skip the hot wings. They were okay. The hot sauce was nice, but more on the mild side and it was also too sweet for my tastes. The hot sauce as a dipping sauce was wonderful though it went really nicely with the salt and pepper wings. I would dip my salt and pepper wings in the blue cheese and the dip it in the hot sauce -- so good. As for the best salt and pepper wings in town, I'm not so sure about that. I've have some salt and pepper wings that were better elsewhere, but the salt and pepper wings here are a solid contender. Definitely come check it out and see for yourself! read more

Holy crap what a bad ass bar! They make killer Bloody Mary's. No one knew us and acted like we were a local. I guess it was donut day, gave us chocolate, someone but us shots, and I'm not even sure what else. After looking around, the bar was loaded with shot glasses upside that others were buying everyone else shots. This place is out of control in the best way. This is one of the best little town bars around. Friendly, welcoming and family oriented but do not bring your kids to the bar. ha-ha They through a benefit for my mother in law, we didn't even have to ask. Great twist on the original Buffalo wing. Went Monday and had the wing special. Amazing flavor! Kind of a mix of traditional buffalo meets salt and pepper kettle chips. Beer selection was great too. Had a Bell's two hearted. Definitely recommend for beer and wings. Talked to the owner/chef/bartender NF he's serious about his wings. His cook hand delivered them smoking hot to me at the bar. Almost too hot to even hold. Then he came back about 20 mins later just to get my impression of them. These guys care about a happy customer. Came here with my brother and his friend one night and we entered through the kitchen which seemed weird and like it could be a health violation. Only felt safe getting a bottled beer because the table where we were at was near the bathroom which smelled like it wasnt cleaned in a month. Everytime someone opened the door it was unbearable. By far and away the best chicken wings I have ever had. They are always crispy and lathered in their signature pepper hot sauce! Only reason it is not a 5 star is because on the weekends the bartenders are sometimes a little lazy and close the kitchen early. During the week however, when "Z" (manager) is in, everything runs smoothly (food, popcorn, cleanliness). Love this place, can't wait to go this weekend! read more

I visited this bar for the first time last summer because they sponsored our Bocce league. As our sponsor, the bar was extremely generous. They brought out huge trays of different kinds of pizza and wings. The bartender was very good too. Type of place where they remember your drink. For being in a shotty part of town, the cliental was great. Now I am hooked on their food. I have had wings everywhere in town (Blarney, QuKer Stake, most bars down town, etc) and this place is BEST. Tried this place out. Had the wings and the Philly steak sandwich. The sandwich came with fries but we were charged extra for them without being asked, we didn't order them... The wings were good but the side of sauce was nasty and vinegary, really bad flavor. The Bleu cheese dressing was forgettable and was warm/un-refrigerated. The cheese steak needed cheese and the beef should be cooked with the cheese, not just a slice of cheese on the roll. $19.50 for the food cost $29 with the tip. I think the bartender may have taken an extra $4 out for himself. It was a bit out of the way to get here so there is little chance of a return visit. For those who think things are racially motivated here, nope, you are the racists, they treat average white people poorly here too. lol. Good if you are a well known local, otherwise skip this place. Resident bar for the Strathmore neighborhood. I ordered wings (hot), which had plenty of heat, but were vinegary & greasy (i.e. sauce sliding off the wing). Lest this sound nitpicky, try wings at Change of Pace and you decide. Mike, the owner/bartender, was very friendly, though seemed a bit preoccupied with the regulars and a fairly busy clientele (especially for a weeknight). Draft beer selections we not terribly deep, but good enough for me (Sierra Nevada, Two Hearts, Middle Ages, etc.). Nice HDTVs throughout the joint if you like sports with your bars. Friendly crowd. I would rate 0 stars if possible. Last night I was at this establishment celebrating a graduation with some family and friends, us being a group of mainly Latinos I might add. My boyfriend and I walked up to the bar and the bartender was an older white male who was GLUED to his phone. We politely waited for him to give us his attention which we never received, he asked what we wanted, we placed our order, and he still remained on his phone for another few minutes afterwards. We eventually decided to just walk away without our drinks and enjoy our night despite the unprofessional bartender, simply said "never mind we'll pass on the drinks" and returned to the table. The bartender approached my boyfriend about 2 minutes later, got in his face and said "I was texting family you couldn't just wait a f****** minute?!". Not only was him being glued to his phone, ignoring us as customers, and his body language inappropriate but then to make matters worse he approaches us and tries to antagonize and start issues with us after we respectfully walked away. It turned into a yelling match and the bartender exclaiming that he did not do anything wrong and was not disrespectful to anybody. We all left, taking our business elsewhere. This was racial profiling without a doubt in my mind or anyone else's who witnessed it. We did not receive any support from any other staff members or receive an apology for the straight up disrespect and unprofessionalism. To wrap things up this is one of the most ignorant poorly run businesses I've ever visited and will make sure everyone I know is informed of the ignorance of this bar, they will not be getting anymore business from myself or anyone else who hears how they treat customers read more

Central New York has good wings, but none are better than those you'll find at Swallow's. They're large, meaty and cooked perfectly every time. Consistency is key when it comes to wings, in my opinion. They are the great every time. One batch isn't better than another. I favor the salt & pepper wings. They're unusual because they're dry, but they come with a homemade hot sauce on the side. On top of that, the beer is always cold (colder than most bars), and the bartender and customers are always friendly. read more

Not only is he unapologetically prejudiced, but he will not hesitate to sexually harass, stalk, and spread rumors about his female clientele. We found out about this place from a local. We decided what the heck, we're not from the area, so why not? Love...love...love this place. We felt welcomed even though no one knew our names. I'm assuming it was the owner was there when we arrived for our after new year's blood marys. This place reminded me of my mom's bar back in Nebraska. Everyone was friendly. We ended up staying there for almost 6 hours before heading up to the North County. We had the wings..they were great! The bartender was extremely nice and attentive. Went for the wings. Of my 10, 2 had broken bones (not possible to notice before throwing them in the fryer?!), so had to spit out all the bone fragments. I guess we got those because we weren't regulars. It's ok, because we won't ever be back. Someone wrote that this place is "family oriented" which is hilarious. Not sure what type of "family" would go here. 3 tables in the place, and a "ledge" that goes around the "dining room". The ledge is about a foot wide, so if you want to eat there, enjoy. I guess this place would be good for take-out? To get there it's a drive through distressed neighborhoods. Wings were ok but nothing special, apparently if you order "a little bit hotter than hot" it causes eyeballs to roll. Barmaid lined up about 25 dirty glasses in front of me, instead of washing them on the spot and bar was not that busy. In my book, either lazy or disrespectful. My first time going to Swallows was this evening. I have had their wings before but never been in the actual bar. I walked into the placed and was not quite sure where to pickup my order. I was greeted in a cold manner by the bartender. I asked her where I pickup my food and she told me at the kitchen which was 5 feet away. She then told me that she wasn't even sure if the kitchen was open. Keep in mind she was 5 feet away from it and the cook was in there visibly making food. She then made no effort to check on my order. I then had to basically had to beg the cook to turn around to check on my order. He then rudely told me "Hold on bud! Not ready yet!" I politely waited next to the bar where moments later he rudely said "Excuse me I've got orders to get out". A few minutes later I got my food from him without a smile or simple thank you. I turned around and left. I could not get out of this place soon enough. I will not be visiting this place again. Lesson to Swallows. You may have a great reputation with your chicken wings but remember to treat your customers warmly and with respect! read more
