originally planned on going to rise and shine cafe across the street, but upon arrival we were told it'd be an hour plus wait. so we looked around and said screw it why not moms. now i didn't know that moms what cash only until stepping into the front door. the shop is small and quaint but its homey. there is an atm; however, when i went to use it i was only allowed to take out $20 and nearly everything on the menu if you're going with a friend is more than $20. i do like that there's no tax on it, all of the prices are whole numbers. the sandwiches were okay. i think i got something called the spicy? eggs were fluffy but i forfeited mine because i hate eggs. the bread is fluffy yet dense as shit. basically it's like if wendy's breakfast was a corner shop read more

We were in the Westcott area on a Sunday and decided to stop here for a quick brunch. This was supposed to be a blast from the past except their menu has completely changed from the typical diner food to mostly breakfast sandwiches and burgers. Still I was very excited to try as their food was always good in my SU days. A good change in their menu was the addition of vegetarian/vegan options. We ordered the classic and naked ( on a croissant) breakfast sandwich along with a plate of Texas french toast. The classic one was very basic and was haphazardly put up. The naked sandwich was good and spicy with a buttery croissant and hot sauce. The french toast was thick and fluffy and delicious! Their prices are reasonable as expected. The staff here is polite but the service was slow even when the restaurant was not that crowded. I would recommend this place for a quick bite - specially to cure a hangover! read more

Needed a quick option for breakfast this past weekend and Mom's Diner was perfect! It had a good amount of tables however it wasn't a sit down restaurant, you order at the counter and then go sit and they'll bring you your food. Everyone was super friendly and service was fast, I just couldn't give 5 stars because I felt the eggs were undercooked in some places in the breakfast sandwiches however people like my husband really enjoy that so he didn't mind! This was the recommended place for breakfast while we stayed at the Genesee Grande Hotel. Came by in a snowstorm and walked in. The logistics is a bit different. Order at the bar, take a number and grab your own coffee and head down to your desk. I ended up getting Mom's spicy breakfast special, eggs with hot sauce on top, bacon, potatoes and toast. It was pretty decent, the people seem really friendly here and I'd definitely come back to try mom's spaghetti. read more

My friends and I were the only ones in this place therefore we got our food REALLY fast. I ordered an egg white veggie omlet and the veggie quina hash on the side which I thought was veyr unique and delicious. There was a decent amount of food for a good price! Although I only did pickup, this seems like a charming place for diner food! You can see the kitchen from the entire restaurant. It has the feeling as if you're in your family home, watching the kitchen from the dining room. They have a solid menu, all the essential diner go-to's. MOM'S! we strolled in, and there were only a few tables open. super casual diner for a simple, fairly priced, breakfast. you order before you sit, and grab yourself a cup of coffee from their self serve coffee station (free refills +++). My brother and I were in town visiting a friend of mine, and we looked on yelp to find a low-key diner close by to get breakfast after sunday mass. This place seemed to fit the bill, and things looked promising when we walked in the door. However, looks can be decieving. You order at a counter, get a number, grab a table and put the number on the table so that the wait stafff knows where to deliver each order. If you order coffee, you just grab a mug at the coffee bar to the left of the cashier window. The coffee is your typical diner coffee (meaning not great but caffeinated). It was pretty busy, but not overly so - we were able to easily find a table. Overall, the perfect, no frills, laid back kind of place for a Sunday morning diner breakfast. That's about all the good I can say thought. First off, the wait time for our food was ridiculosly long. An "I'm ready to eat my shoe because it's been so long" kind of wait - and then some. After waiting so long, I was ready to dig in when our food finally arrived. Unfortunately, the food wasn't good at all. I got some sort of veggie omelette, and my omelette was inedible - brown, overcooked eggs that even looked unappetizing, let alone tasted awful. And, the veggies were super crunchy and barely cooked. Because I didn't want to send it back and wait yet another eon before I got my food, I tried my brother's turkey sausage and egg white dish (I forget what it was called). That was also dry, overcooked, and tasteless. I ended up eating only my rye toast with some butter and jam. Thankfully, the rye toast was actually quite good, though really how hard is it to screw up toast? After we left, I stopped somewhere else for an actual meal. Explained how to order and then grab a table. Leave your name and you'll get called...unless they bring it to you! Nicely done. They serve something named a "Jersey", which is a breakfast sandwich that has a hash brown beneath the egg, meat and cheese of your choosing and choices of ingredients. Evidently, this particular iteration and "custom" was introduced by student patrons attending school in Syracuse who seemingly hailed from "Jersey" & "Long Island" who asked for a hash brown on their sandwich. It caught on and became their thing. Eva, the chef, so explained. She is a wizard at the grill serving up breakfast magic. Took the time to explain this to me upon my questioning while cranking out delectably delicious egg creations like a maestro! Do not miss this place! Very unique and comfortable. The place was busy but not crazy packed and it took about 45 minutes to get our food. Fortunately the food was great and reasonably priced. I ordered the Turk: turkey sausage, turkey bacon, eggs and hash brown for $8. I recommend checking out market diner where you can get a great Groupon instead. read more

My own mom and I first went here when she visited me a year ago. It was a very bittersweet time because she lives far away, and finding this little diner for our breakfast made it easier to say goodbye. Ever since, Mom's Diner has held a special place in my heart. I am definitely one for cozy, local diners and this one fills the bill -- perfect for a college town. The staff are always attentive and helpful. I especially want to give a shoutout to the main staff member who works at the front and answers the phones these days-- sorry I do not know your name, but you are AWESOME and always professional/on top of things even during this insane time. Nothing better or worse than solid breakfast comfort food. I stopped in with some work friends at 8:30 on Sunday morning. The place was already packed! We ordered and waited for a table to free up. I rolled with the French toast breakfast plate which comes with two slices of French toast, a choice of meat (I went with turkey sausage) and 2 egg (scrambled for me) all for ~$9. Coffee is self serve and unlimited for $2. Food is served to your table. Everything came out piping hot. The eggs and sausage were pretty standard but clearly made fresh. The French toast was pretty tasty, lightly sweet so syrup can be added to taste. My friend had whipped cream and strawberries and bananas on his which was a lovely addition. Of note, they have a decent vegan menu as well with at least 3-4 options which is unique for a local, family joint. I think I'll be back when I'm in the mood for a quick, tasty no-frills breakfast. They have daily specials and the prices are fair. They don't have a parking lot I think, but it's pretty easy to find street parking. read more

Great breakfast! My favorite is their mom's slam omelette or sandwich. Local and family oriented place. Nothing fancy, just come as you are and have a seat. During the school year they are very busy and on the weekends you should definitely call ahead for takeout. Be prepared to wait a little regardless because they are packed.
