This was my first experience at Rise N Shine and it was a great one! I do see a lot of negative reviews are from long wait times but I went on a Tuesday morning so that could be why my review is rated much higher because I had no wait time to be seated and the food came out pretty quickly. Rise N Shine has such cute decor! I love the entrance and the overall aesthetic. The restaurant uses a QR code menu just FYI. There's also a parking lot which seemed like it would get full quickly if on a busier day. Our waitress was Karen (?) and she was very sweet. We ordered the Hot Honey Chicken and waffles (without gravy cause they ran out) and the Basic "B" with an extra side of hash brows. The chicken and waffles was pretty tasty! The waffles were light and airy and the chicken was moist with a nice crunch. I'm not sure how the gravy would've affected the texture but it was definitely delicious without it. The Basic B was standard, the bacon was apple smoked and thick. The pancakes were yummy, they came with a cinnamon butter which was perfect for the pancakes. And the hash browns were nice and crispy. Overall I really enjoyed trying this place out as it has been on my list! I will definitely come back again! read more

The down side: the wait on a Saturday morning is significant. Roughly 45 minutes for a table and then another 45 minutes for our food. However, I think I'd say it was worth the wait. It was quite good. Every single thing we got. We came into it thinking it was going to be more of an "experience" place with novelty dishes, but they were all delicious. Pancake flight, pancake sushi, bacon, flaming French toast, BYO omelet. ALL. EXCELLENT. Massive portions. Almost everyone leaves with leftovers. Very much worth the price, so a huge win. read more

What is the point of a waitlist ? I go online at 8:45am to join waitlist, I am 9th in queue. I get a text asking what time I plan on arriving. I reply9:30 assuming it allows enough time for the 8 people ahead of me to be seated. I arrive 9:25and check in. I expected some wait but was told 45 minutes at a minimum. What was the point of going online to sign up? Meanwhile the people checking in ahead of me were seated without being in the queue. read more

So we joined the waitlist on a Saturday which is clearly the busiest day to go, so overall I believe we waited an hour as a group of 8. Completely understandable. The hostess was very friendly. The server did not introduce themselves and it took quite a while for them to come to our table. It took 55 minutes for our food to come out. 80% of our order was correct and for the 20% that was wrong we decided to just bite the bullet because it was over 10 minutes before the server came back. The food wasn't worth the time and effort, and the espresso was so bitter, not smooth at all. The restaurant is quite cozy/small but nicely decorated. Bathrooms are clean. I think if you're just in the area and you can walk it it's worth it, but otherwise I wouldn't wait on this place. The portions are generous. read more

Wow! There was a wait for brunch on Sunday, but it was well worth it another amazing yelp find! I was in Syracuse for work, and needed a good brunch before I headed back south rise and shine diner is just what the doctor ordered! I sat at the bar, good service. Very cool decor in the small place. But the star of the show is definitely the food. I got the Witwhiz burger. It was fricking amazing! Home fries were super good. Also don't skip those! An amazing spot for breakfast or brunch in Syracuse. Parking is a little tight, but there is a street parking available too. read more

We have been here several times over the years and the best way to sum it up is: quantity over quality. We were seated quickly on a Monday for brunch and our waitress immediately brought waters. Then we waited and waited for breakfast. The food is fine but the portions are way too large. If you want simple, it's not the place for you. If you want to take a picture of your food and post it then end up throwing most in the trash then this is your place read more

My buddy and I drove an hour just to try this place. The menu here is absolutely insane and the flavor and quality lived up to the hype. Portion sizes are huuuuge. I recommend the cauliflower pizza. It was outstanding. We can't wait to bring out wives. We were able to park on site and although we did call ahead to be placed on the waiting list it was not necessary. The food is amazing and the servers are very kind. It does take forever, be sure to have lots of time to wait for a table and then wait for your food. But the food is excellent and so are the lattes. The ambiance is a fun vibe and folks are working hard. Again a bit slow but worth the wait! read more

The staff was so nice and accommodating. The food was great and the portions were huge. Well worth the money. Only thing was we had to wait a while for the food and when it did come out the home fries were warm but not hot and the same went for the sausage and bacon. If it wasn't for the warm instead of hot food and the long wait it would have been 5 stars. Love the options and quality was superb! Will definitely be back with some more people to try other menu items. read more

I have always wanted to try this diner because of the incredibly unique and creative menu, cocktails, and simply everything looked great! Well we finally got there and boy oh boy we were not disappointed. Our server was so sweet and answered all of my questions regarding the sweetness of the specialty coffee and tea options. They gladly made what I was craving a pumpkin cappuccino which was creamy, not sweet, and the perfect balance of pumpkin... well done! After changing our mind a few times as the food options are endless we choose pastrami style salmon Benedict served on sourdough bread in a delightful presentation and the moist abundant salmon was perfectly seasoned did not let us down! Next we gobbled down the pork belly Benedict with a sweet spicy Korean style sauce piled high with frizzled onions. Both were incredible! The diner is eclectic, filled with fun decor and local diners. Westcott St. is a great place for unique cuisine and we will certainly return sooner than later! read more

They had good latte and served a very tasty breakfast. The service was thoughtful and kind.

Beautiful and aesthetically pleasing diner that serves unique and traditional breakfast / brunch entrees. Service was extremely up-beat and friendly. The portion sizes of some the entrees are massive! Definitely enough to feed 2+ people. Mimosas were delicious. I love the fact they have more than one mimosa flavor to choose from. read more

Came for birthday brunch and was not disappointed! This place is super busy with limited seating and only takes reservations for large parties - so prepare accordingly. There's something for everyone on the menu - great gluten free and vegan options. The gluten free cinnamon roll pancakes were perfect! The cauliflower breakfast pizza is also delicious and gluten free. Flaming French toast was a big hit along with the wings and Benny Flight. The waitress did not do the sparkler birthday celebration that some of the other tables got, but they were very busy. Everyone was friendly and we're excited to go back! read more

Be ready to take food home with you and get at least 2 more meals out of it!!! Beautiful presentation (mine was served in a tin can and flipped over onto my plate. I had the pierogis/ eggs/bacon special served in a tin can) It was enough for 2 and was delicious! I also had the French toast latte served with a FT stick right on top. Decadent ! Service was speedy, efficient and friendly. If you go plan on going early or putting yourself on the wait list much before you head out the door! It's def worth the wait!! read more

A fun and exciting spot for brunch, breakfast, or lunch! For as good (and sometimes) crazy as the food looks, it tastes just as good. Can never go wrong with the eggs benny flight, breakfast poutine, mac n cheese, or pancake flight for something sweet. Surprisingly good wings!? The table LOVED the chipotle french toast wings, sweet, savroy, crispy, and a little spicy. However this place can get BUSY, you can join a waitlist over the phone or in person. Because it gets so busy food can take a little bit, but normally drinks/apps/entrees are well timed to one another. It can get a bit loud inside so prepare for that. I enjoyed my chai and my friend loved her french toast latte- cocktails are fun and unique but the food is overall better. Our server-Brianna V..?... Was thee BEST read more

We were passing thru Syracuse and wanted to grab breakfast. Rise n' Shine was recommended to us and we're so glad it was! Things that were outstanding: * presentation- the plating of the breakfast egg rolls and pancake "sushi"was innovative and fun. * taste: we all loved everything we ordered, including chicken and waffles, pancakes and the items above. Coffee was excellent too! * service: we were seated promptly and our service was efficient and friendly. * ambiance: bright, happy, cool light fixtures One note: the egg rolls could have been placed on a napkin or something to help absorb excess oil - still yummy! I'd recommend Rise n' Shine to anyone looking for a great meal with a side of creativity. Bravo! read more

Coffee - 2.5/5 Just okay. You'll find a much better cup at Recess. Pancakes - 2/5 Undercooked and disappointing. Honestly, I make better ones at home. Shakshouka - 0/5 Please don't order this. Completely missed the mark. Service Waited 85 minutes for our food. We were initially told to sit at the bar, despite our reservation. Only after repeated requests were we moved to a booth. Ambiance Nothing special. Just average. Verdict Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Not worth the time or money. read more

My friends and I drove 1.5 hours just to eat here. I've been there a few times now. In this particular day, there was a 45 minute wait, they do not take reservations. They were quite short staffed and even told us, one bartender making drinks for the whole restaurant. It is cheaper to get the flights of food/drinks than ordering one singular item; pancakes, eggs Benedict, drinks. I got the shrimp and grits and it was good. The pancake flight was good also, we couldn't finish them. The poutine fries were delicious as well. Everyone enjoyed all the boozy drinks. My vanilla chai latte was meh. I would order the Reese's latte again though. I highly recommended coming to Rise N Shine for brunch! The food is great and so are the drinks. read more

Let me begin by stating, if you go on a weekend after 8:30am, put your name on the waitlist. Otherwise, you could wait upwards of two hours. With that out of the way, I must say the food was Insanely tasty and decadent! I had the breakfast nachos with eggs, fresh chips, jalapeños, pork, bacon, melted cheese and salsa. Sooo good. Our group split the pancake flight including birthday cake, s'mores and Reese's peanut butter cup. My better half had the shashuka, which was reminiscent of chili. All were dynamite!! Hostess and server were very friendly and attentive!! Run, don't walk to get there! read more

If you want poor service by grumpy girls with nose piercings, that constantly complain behind the counter about other co-workers, over-priced coffee ($4.39 ‍) that you have to ask repeatedly to fill up, digital menus that are difficult to read and don't tell you they come with our home fires or anything else then this is the place for you. Don't call yourself a diner because diners have much better service than this liberal bunch. Food was good and reason for the 2 stars instead of 1, but bring back grumpy woman that at least know what service is and fill up your coffee without giving you an attitude. #bringbackflo #bringbackprintedmen Tired it again. Terrible. Took 2 hours to get a table for 3, then took 1 1/2 hours to get our food (2 omelets and a crepe) and the order was wrong. Rise and Shine is a must stop spot in Syracuse. It's small inside and gets packed, so make sure to call ahead and get on the wait list right when they open. Otherwise the wait will be at least an hour. Everything inside was bright, new looking, and very clean. Great spot for some pics. I had the mimosa flight to drink and my wife had a bloody mary. Both were very good and the presentation of them was great. For my meal I had the eggs benedict flight. I did the shrimp po boy, the westscott, and the Irish. The westscott and shrimp ones were my favorite. Really unique spin on eggs benedict. Will definitely stop back if we are ever in town again. read more

The customer service sucked in the beginning, no one came to seat me or tried to help me though they passed by me many times. So I decided to sit at the bar. Our visit to Rise & Shine Diner was, unfortunately, one of the worst dining experiences we've had in a long time. Even though the restaurant only had two large parties and wasn't particularly busy, we still waited 35 minutes to be seated. That alone didn't make sense, but things only went downhill from there. It was my daughter's birthday, and we were hoping for a fun brunch. Our server started off friendly, but that changed quickly. We ordered our drinks and food at the same time--a chai tea for me, a specialty alcoholic milkshake for my daughter, and no drink for her boyfriend, plus three entrées and a poutine. The drinks took 50 minutes to arrive. The food took over an hour and a half. During all this, the server seemed to avoid our table entirely. When my daughter's boyfriend finally managed to get her attention--very politely, even mentioning that he himself is a server--he simply asked if she had an estimate on our food. She stood there with her hand on her hip and told us the kitchen was backed up, with "three orders ahead of yours," as if that explained everything. We then asked if the poutine, our appetizer, was at least ready. She said they had to make fresh potatoes for it but that she would "rush it." Eventually, she came back with the poutine, plopped it down on the table, and walked away without a single word. No "here you go," no "do you need anything," and--most importantly--no plates. I ended up getting up and asking the hostess for plates so we could actually eat the appetizer. For a place that markets itself as a "fancy diner" with "Instagram-worthy" dishes, the service and execution were nowhere near acceptable. If you're going to lean into trendy presentation and premium pricing, you need the staff to support it. Hire more people. Train them. Do something--because this was unacceptable from start to finish. We won't be returning, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone looking for a smooth, enjoyable dining experience. **EDIT** I would like to include the fact of the over priced, over salted, food items don't seem to cover the cost to upgrade your cracked booths so that people's bums are hurt from sitting on them. Needs to be updated and correct staffing issues so that food will be "adequate" for the price. Go anywhere on Westcott than here. read more

Visited for the first time during a visit with my daughter who's a student. While I appreciate the huge portions and great value, I was very disappointed in the service. And it wasn't busy early Sunday morning... The place was half empty, we walked right in, and were told to choose our table from many. It was 15 minutes before we received water, 20 minutes before we were asked if we wanted coffee. Add another 30 minutes to get our food. But mostly it was the lack of attention paid to us... I was begging for a second cup of coffee. Delicious corned beef hash, perfectly cooked eggs over easy... pass on the fresh seasonal fruit which was half a granny smith apple, orange, and a few strawberries. I'm a corned beef hash fan but I'll get my fix somewhere else during my next trip. read more

I have been to rise and shine many times over the years, & I can say it's always been a blast! It's so creative, every season gets their own fun drinks and meals, over the top but generally tasty. It literally hurts my heart to put out such a negative review about a local place but wow - talk about a let down! I came into town to visit some friends and family and decided to stop by for a Sunday brunch. We waited about 45 min for 3 people. The menu looked creative and delicious. We waited another 30-45 minutes for the food. We also ordered a juice flight that tasted like grocery store juice. My order was incorrectly placed after 45 minutes and it took another 5-10 minutes to be corrected. My sandwich came out looking like it was thrown together (cheese wasn't melted) and tasted very average. Someone got the chorizo omelette and it was very average as well. My cousin took some food to go and the fries did not taste cooked (white and soggy). Our sever was mildly apologetic and they did take $25 off the final check. But definitely not great. Atmosphere was ok. It was bustling and clean. Overall, very disappointing. read more
