I have a soft spot in my heart for small NY diners, and this one met my expectations. The decor and atmosphere was adorable with the cute cow decor. The menu was great, we were surprised to see grits on the menu as southerners it was a nice surprise. The food was great and the guy (im assuming the owner) was fantastic and friendly.

Another delightful Sunday morning breakfast with my son...1,364/1,364... all's well that starts well, is delivered well, has been prepared well and is reasonably priced! What more is there to say for their consummate consistency.

A true gem, housed in the former Valley View Diner. To say it's been spruced up is totally underselling the charming and welcoming feel. The menu selection puts just enough spin on traditional breakfast faves without veering into being over the top. My Papa beard hit all the right notes: tasty sausage gravy, fluffy homemade biscuits, eggs over easy, perfect skin on home fries, and slabs of nutty whole wheat toast. Enough for two meals, or a friend :-)

If you are looking for a cozy and comforting diner that prepares scratch made (homemade) food, then look no further than The Milkhouse Diner. This unassuming diner may be small in stature (roughly 15 tables), but they absolutely pack a mighty punch when it comes to flavor and customer service. From the moment we walked through the door, we were greeted with a smile and were allowed to seat ourselves wherever we liked. Within 2 minutes, a kind gentleman was at our table to take our drink order and hand us our menus. He was very informative on which dishes were customer favorites and offered a few menu suggestions for us to try. We opted for the sampler platter, breakfast garbage plate & the gobbler. Everything was simply wonderful, and I sincerely mean wonderful! You can definitely taste that the food is fresh and made to order. Portions were very generous (each entrée was enough for 2 servings), and the prices are unbeatable. If you're looking for a home cooked meal away from home, you'll definitely enjoy The Milkhouse.

Food was good but not to be confused w the Milk House Roastery which is also in Marcellus and had the name first. The best coffee and beans. Not sure why this diner isn't using their coffee ??

I was never here when it was "The Valley Inn" but they paid homage to the place with a sign in the dining room. The place doesn't look like much from the street but once inside it looks freshly remodeled with cute decorating. It was fairly busy on the Thursday afternoon I went with my friend. Many choices on the menu but I was in the mood for breakfast and I wanted to try a bunch of different things so I went with The TMR (see my photo of menu for description). Every taste was amazing!!! I normally don't get biscuits and gravy but it was the best I've ever had. The French toast was just like I love it with cinnamon on the batter. Bacon was crispy but not over cooked, home fries cooked perfectly and eggs were perfect. It's safe to say this is my new favorite breakfast place!!!!

This place is off the beaten path but very cute. Loved all the mums and fall decorations and the decor is mostly black and white and cow. The service was very quick and attentive. We started off with drinks and I will say the iced coffee was good. My husband got the papa beard which he said was okay but had a weird sweetness to it he wasn't expecting and the biscuits were more like scones. I got the eggs Benedict that was good but the home fries were too big. The weren't crispy at all and they had a kind of wetness to them. Also I am not a fan of rosemary which I could taste in them. All in all I would give it another shot but was not blown away.

Prices are high, and food is coming out very slowly. It seems the front of house is short on servers.

Out in Marietta, NY, you're likely to find more cows than people. There's not much out here besides…read morehomes and farms. Though it's only about a 20 minute drive from civilization, when you're in a pinch and need one item quick, a 20 minute drive is forever. That's where D&R comes in. On the corner of Amber Rd and Otisco Valley Rd is D&R Convenience, a little unassuming building right across from Otisco Lake. But D&R is more than your normal convenience store. They have close to EVERYTHING you need in a pinch, and a couple other items you may not expect. The store is basically divided up into three sections. The right hand portion is your normal convenience/quick grocery store portion. Soda, beer, canned goods, candy, bread, milk, some frozen items, etc. The middle section is 90% hardware/tools, and 10% toys with a small assortment of kids toys. The hardware section has come in handy...nuts, bolts, duct tape, piping, hand tools, etc....a lot more than you'd expect. Definitely useful if you're trying to fix something and don't have the right tool, and don't wanna drive into the city to buy one. It's not Home Depot or anything, but there's a pretty wide selection of home improvement stuff if you need it quickly. The third section on the left is their deli. They have a wide assortment of different subs and sandwiches, burgers, appetizers, and even pizza and wings. My wife and I order from here regularly. Most of their stuff is pretty good, especially for a convenience store. They have some great loaded fries, huge portion too. Their subs can be really good. Haven't tried their pizza and wings yet. They also do ice cream in the warmer months. But they have a random assortment of other things too. DVDs, fish bait, lottery tickets, and they have a couple gas pumps as well. Everything besides their deli is a couple cents/dollars more expensive than your city stores, but nothing crazy, and worth it if you need something quick. You'd spend the extra cents/dollars in gas driving anywhere else anyway. Their employees are always very nice and helpful. There's a $5 minimum for any credit/debit card transactions. You need some canned tomatoes? They have it. A wrench? D&Rs got you. A sandwich? Oh yeah, you can get that too.
